It’s the elaborate lives of Aida, by way of Starkid mini-dreamcasts. It would take a bit to create a full dreamcast of Aida without any whitewashing in the ensemble, but that’s what mini-dreamcasts are for! and with a Broadway revival of Aida (allegedly) in the pipeline, it felt like a good time to create this!

Some footage from the Aida revival currently running in Scheveningen, Netherlands. I believe pre-Covid this was supposed to tour the US.

There is an all black cast in this production, meaning there are no white people playing Egyptians like the OBC.

This production seems to largely follow the design of the Broadway production but cheaper, although there might be new choreo and orchestrations.

I've also heard this production made some edits to the book and score, notably completely changing the opening sequence and cutting Every Story is a Love Story and Fortune Favors the Brave.

I found myself at the entrance, of what I didn't know. Pushing the heavy door open, I quickly realized I'd interrupted a funeral service.

"You're here! I'm so happy to see you!"

He pulled me into a tight embrace before my brain could decipher what my eyes were seeing.

"V-Victor?"

"You're just in time," he smiled, "it won't be long now."

"For what?"

He didn't answer, but instead motioned for me to go to the back of the church.

Overwhelming dread grew with each step I took.

Once close enough, I hesitated to look inside the casket, already knowing who would be laying there.

"Does it hurt?"

"It'll be over before you know it, I promise."

"…Will you stay with me?"

"Of course."

I turned back to look at him.
