Question: So, if Miguel knows spider!reader in Arachnophilia, and spider!mig is mentioned in AFM, does reader know her own spider variant (personally or from Miguel/other spiders mentioning them) ??

I love both stories, and obvi the idea of Miguel & Reader being tied in several universes, but I was just curious on the idea of reader knowing.

oh im SO GLAD I get to talk about this THANK YOU SM cos its been on my mind for days!! I will use this chance to actually drop the dante fic cinematic universe timeline, which is: easing tensions - arachnophilia - a fortunate mistake - a fortunate mistake II There's certain things I gotta keep vague because I know how arachnophilia ends (and how it might tie into AFM II) and I don't want to spoil, but I'll talk about a bit because I'm rabid rn.

I wanna add for the sake of my lore on multiverse stuff, Miguel's who are turned into Spider-men are quite rare? I think this gets mentioned in AFM but Miguel's in general are rare, Spider Miguel's even more so. I took him saying Gabi's universe was the one where he was happy to heart, along with the fact we see zero variants of him in the society. That shit was always the most interesting thing to flesh out. I also don't know if I've ever talked about nena's multiverse story properly either, but its pretty tragic. She largely only exists in universes where Miguels' exist, and in all the ones where she comes into contact with him she dies. Our Miguel's universe is the only one where she doesn't, and Miguel blames this inititally on his canon but, as we know, canon isn't real, in reality it's because our Miguel was the only one with multi-verse experiences that humbled his apathy and violent tendencies. It's sort of like how meeting Miles put Peter B. on a better course, Peter's influence on Miguel is something no other Miguel had and it changed him in a way that made him capable of growing. Vig is the only other one we've met and it's obviously implied he was a poor partner who became a good dad after nena's death. Nena is like, universal collatoral damage, and it's only in the universe where she wasn't 'meant' to love him that she got to be loved. It's fucked up and she deserved better fr.

BUT I will say, to actually answer the question (sorry lol) the reader in arachnophilia is actually not a variant of the reader from AFM. I am sticking with the rule that AFM reader is never a spider, because its important later hehe.

BUT! But this makes Spider!Mig and readers relationship equally interesting to me anyway. I am a sucker for starcrossed lovers, excellent trope, and while it was meant to be a one-off I wanna use it to explore the idea of fully abandoning ones canon and exploring a relationship beyond the bounds of ones universe. I will be going more into Spider!Migs backstory for this, but I think the films never properly addressed the potential dangers/tragedy of love between people from different universes. I used it a bit with OG Miguel with my explanation for what happened with Gabi, E.g him trying to combine their universes, but this is especially spicy. So, again, actual question (I'm so sorry I swear this is all I think about, rip my PhD) as of AFM II reader also doesn't know about Miguel's variants beyond Vig, YET. Miguel is aware of Spider!Mig and reader as of AFM, and if you go back you can see a lot of his mindset in there, especially when he talks about not wanting kids because of his genetic mess and feeling like he's too dangerous.

Miguel as a character is great, I can't say that enough, he's harboring so much self loathing and unaddressed trauma that while he wants to do the right thing he imposes very strict rules that always end in hypocricy. In the same way I think he's awful to Miles because he see's Miles making the same mistake he did (e.g destroying the universe for a loved one) and a lot of his violence is like, imposed, he's awful to his variants because he knows he's fucked up his own moral compass and takes it out on them.

But yes Miguel knows where they are, he has not told reader though, but I do want to have them cross paths.

Jerry Lewis and Susanna Agnelli under the sign of Telethon Private conversation this morning on the occasion of the great actor's visit to Rome, who will shoot some commercials in the United States in favor of the Telethon Foundation.

He with his usual verve, dressed in a tracksuit, she is very elegant and friendly: Jerry Lewis, father of the most famous television marathon in the world, and Susanna Agnelli, promoter of the Italian Telethon, met today in Rome as a sign of their common commitment for Telethon. A meeting between characters with many affinities and with the same goal which, at different times, has seen them take the field themselves to contribute to the fight against genetic diseases, starting initially from muscular dystrophy to arrive, as in the case of our country, to those rarer and unknown to the public until a few years ago. The private conversation, held at the Grand Hotel St. Regis in the capital, was also an opportunity for Mrs. Agnelli and Jerry Lewis to discuss the long history of Telethon, its successes with both the public and scientific results, the prospects for further growth and on the differences that characterize the television marathon invented by the great American actor in the various countries. In Europe, after France, the Italian Telethon is the second most efficient in raising funds and is highly appreciated by the international scientific community for the quality and quantity of the discoveries obtained with its funding for research on genetic diseases of hereditary origin.

Jerry Lewis reiterated his appreciation for the important results, well known to him, obtained by the Telethon Foundation in its 14 years of life. As confirmation of his trust, the popular American comedian declared that he wanted to record some commercials in his television studios in favor of the 2004 Italian Telethon. Mrs. Agnelli thanked him and stated: "I limited myself to emulating a model of great efficiency, adapting it to the Italian spirit". Jerry Lewis wanted to conclude by defining the Italians "The most lovable people in Europe". The Telethon (Television Marathon) was born in the United States in 1966, on the initiative of Jerry Lewis, with the aim of raising funds to start research on musical dystrophy, a rather widespread disease with causes that were almost unknown at the time. The success of the broadcast, both in financial terms and in terms of audience, then prompted the French Association against Dystrophies (AFM) to repeat the experience in France starting in 1987 and with equal success. In 1990 the AFM granted the availability of the Telethon brand for Italy to a Promoting Committee, chaired by Susanna Agnelli, born under the aegis of the Italian Union for the Fight against Muscular Dystrophy (UILDM).

The first solidarity marathon of Italian television, conducted on the RAI networks, also met with great public approval. In February 1991, the first call for tenders was issued to finance research projects on muscular dystrophies. Since 1992, the Telethon Promoting Committee, with a change to its statute, has opened the doors to research on all genetic diseases of hereditary origin. The Telethon Foundation was born in 1995, as an entity dedicated exclusively to the management of Telethon's research initiatives, to which as much as 80% of the funds raised are destined. Four Telethon research institutes have been created: the TIGEM, Institute which deals with genetics and medicine, the HSR-TIGET which operates in the field of gene therapy, the Tecnothon, a laboratory for the creation of prototypes of aids for the disabled, and the Istituto Telethon Dulbecco, born to offer job opportunities, also favoring their return from abroad, to young researchers of excellence. Since 6 May 1998, in compliance with law 460/97 on the tax regime of non-profit organizations (non-profit organizations of social utility), the Telethon Promoting Committee has changed its statute, changing the company name to "Comitato Telethon Fondazione Onlus". Ship: Faith Seed x Piper Vasquez

"Piper?"

Well, that hurt.

"Piper? Can you hear me baby, where are you?"

Piper groans, pushing herself up onto her elbows as she looks up at the ledge she'd just fallen off of. Faith's voice is distant and panicked, coming from the higher level of the cave they'd both been searching through. Shs tries to call back but chokes, coughing and clearing her throat as she sits up.

Her ribs ache and there's a sharp pain coming from her left shoulder and she whimpers weakly as she reaches her hand up to touch it.

"Piper!"

Piper heaves a sigh as she glances up again, Faith's blue eyes now peering down at her with worry. She holds onto the wall as she leans over the edge, trying to assess Piper's condition and figure out a possible way to get down to her.

"I'm fine!" Piper croaks, holding up a thumbs up but wincing from another burst of pain from her shoulder.

"You are not fine, fuck—When i get you out of there we are going home," Faith snaps, not out of anger but concern as she shrugs her bacpack off and rummages through it for her grappling hook.

"No babe, c'mon i'm fine," Piper sighs, dragging herself to her feet and rolling her shoulders gently. It hurts but she's had worse.

"No, this isn't even our job Piper, I'm not letting you break your neck because you're getting bored," Faith huffs sourly, hooking the grapple into a pivot in the ground before tossing the rope over the edge. Piper catches it and then the harness Faith tosses after it. She was right, as much as Piper didn't want to admit it. Being in New Eden was fucking boring.

Piper hadn't even wanted to be in New Eden really, when they first got out of the bunker she turned tail and started searching for Casper. When she found him safe and sound in Prosperity she had stayed there for a while and she was content—but something was missing. Her Faith. Who was initially happy to sneak out of New Eden and spend her free time with her, telling her about what was happening within the walls and all the changes happening.

Her brothers had apparently mellowed out during their time in the bunker, probably thanks to the fed up deputy who had been stuck with them. Piper was expecting another compound but New Eden wasn't that bad, it felt like a small mediaeval village almost and with the lack of guns everyone seemed to be a bit more welcoming. 

And most importantly it had Faith.

She didn't know when she stopped going back to prosperity, could barely remember when she moved what remained of her things into Faith's new wooden shack of a home. But she didn't regret it, not even now as she climbed back up to the ledge with her shoulder screaming in pain. Tending to crops and following Faith around as she tended to her duties was mind numbing but it wasn't the worst thing in the world. At least she never felt that hollow longing in her chest anymore.

But she couldn't deny she almost missed the chaos of those last few years in Hope County. It was the same chaos she'd had all of her life and now it was stagnant. Serene. She should be happy, she finally had what she always wanted. But her fire hadn't quite fizzled out yet and she still craved the inferno and wildfires that danced behind her eyes at night.

"Where are you hurt?" 

Faith's hands are on her as soon as her feet are flat on the ledge, blue eyes darting over her freckled skin. Her hands were shaking—fuck.

"My shoulder kind of hurts but everything is fine," Piper tells her quietly, remorseful as Faith gently touches her aching shoulder. She traces the aged lines on her face with her eyes as her brows knit together on her forehead, tears pricking the edge of her eyes. 

"We'll have Simon look at it when we get back, come on," Faith sniffs, turning and raising the back of her hand to wipe her eyes. Piper could feel her frustration rolling off of her in waves and she steps after her, using her good afm to wrap around her waist.

"Pip—"

"I'm sorry I scared you, I'll be more careful," Piper whispers, pressing a delicate kiss to the back of her head. Faith sniffs again and brings her hands up to cover her face, her shoulders shaking almost unnoticeably.

"I just—I don't want to lose you again Piper, I know this isn't what we wanted but it's what we have and I want you to be happy, I want us both to be happy," Faith's voice is watery and muffled by her hands and Piper's heart twists in her chest. She steps around her lover and takes hold of her wrists, moving her hands asay gently.

"I am happy, I love you and I'm with you and that's all I ever wanted. I just get restless—but that's not your fault, it's just who I am, you know?" Piper wipes away her tears, peppering kisses to her reddened cheeks and nuzzling their noses together.

"I do know, that's why I get worried."

Faith rests her hands on Piper's elbows, closing her eyes and leaning her forehead against Piper's.

"The next time I feel like doing something reckless I'll take Cas with me, you know he'd never let anything happen to me," Piper suggests and Faith's eyes flutter open to take in her expression. She considers it for a moment, nodding gently as she purses her lips.

"Maybe… Okay. Just, make sure you come home in one piece alright?" Faith's request is gentle as she holds Piper's forearms, looking into her eyes pleadingly. The word home causes a swell of warmth to spread through Piper's chest and she nods without any hesitation.

"I will always come home to you, I promise," 

Faith smiles, eyes crinkling beautifully as her thumbs caress her skin. Piper leans in and presses a firm kiss to her soft lips, it's a promise as well as a display of affection and Faith melts against her.

"I love you Piper," Faith murmurs the words against her lips, eyes still closed as they enjoy the closeness for a moemnt longer.

"Let's go home, and I promise no more spelunking for a while,"

"How about forever,"

"Six months,"

"Deal,"

Wizard TV Show I Don’t Know The Name Of

Hello, can anyone help me find this show?

This took place in colonial times I believe, a lot of the characters had powdered wigs. It was all live action, and British I believe. At the very least it was supposed to be set in Britain. It might’ve been on BBC or PBS, or Masterpiece.

There were these two wizards: one was old and worked for the British government I think, the other was young and had a wife and wanted magic to be widespread.

The young one wrote a book on magic and in one scene the old one made all of the books disappear with a spell. I’m going to call them Old Wiz and Wiz Jr. respectively, I’ll be giving everyone nicknames so it doesn’t get confusing.

Scenes and plot points I remember, in poor chronological order:

Old Wiz made a fake galleon out of water to trick the French.

Evil Fairy Man who dressed in Rococo fashion (I think) had the hots for this girl-whom I’ll call Eliza. Asshole Fairy Man (AFM) took her away by night to dance with him in a ballroom, and by day returned her. Eliza was unwilling to participate and unable to speak about her experiences. She was called mad and was confined to her bed via leather straps.

There was this African English butler (I’ll call him Butler) to the aging King, Butler was considering killing the King to become the King himself.

AFM tries to make Butler kill the king. He goes on about how Butler has no name and Butler’s like “yes I do it’s Butler!” And AFM shows him a memory of his birth, where he is getting separated from his mother as a newborn, Fairy is like “here’s the part where she says your name,” and the mother is crying and thus doesn’t say his name. Butler is like “damn.”

There was this old guy with a long beard that was kind of a dick. On his body was tattooed a bunch of prophecies.

AFM convinces Butler to hang prophecy guy. AFM says roughly “look there, it says your gonna be king.” I don’t think it did say that.

Old Wiz is called in by Eliza’s parents to “cure her madness”, she is not happy about this and yells roughly “I don’t have any freedom when I’m asleep, can I not have it when I’m awake?”

Wiz Jr’s wife (I’ll just call her Beth) gets stolen by AFM. Unlike Eliza she does not get returned during the day. Beth is also hypnotized, which does not happen to Eliza for some reason?

Since Eliza cannot share her experiences she makes a tapestry. Wiz Jr comes over, wondering where Beth is and then he sees the tapestry and realizes everything. AFM’s existence, Eliza and Beth dancing with him, not being able to talk about it. It was one of the most satisfying scenes of the show.

In the ballroom AFM asks which of the gals wants to dance with him (thereby being trapped forever probably), hypnotized Beth is about to say yes when Eliza steps in and takes her place. What a Chad. Wiz Jr finds the ballroom and manages to dance with Beth who does not recognize him. This makes AFM very mad.

Before Old Wiz and Wiz Jr. confront AFM they fight a bit. Wiz Jr. asks Old Wiz to whip out his most powerful spell, Old Wiz conjures a tiny rain cloud which rains on his head while Wiz Jr. laughs.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-AFM unfortunately is under the protection of Group of Interest: The Black Queen's Insurgency. This was the result of the sudden containment breach at Site-AA. As such no Containment Procedures have been made. All efforts are directed to finding SCP-AFM and bringing it into containment. 

Description: SCP-AFM is the result of SCP-AFN and SCP-AAP fusing together during a containment breach of Site-AA back in 2014. SCP-AFM resembles a red motorcycle but has no resemblance to any known model in the world. Like its predecessors, the anomaly is sentient, homicidal, and enjoys making anything it targets explode psychically with its non-existent mind. Unfortunately, SCP-AFM is much stronger than either able to ride itself at a speed of 300 MPH and able to make anyone and anything it comes across explode. SCP-AFM is able to process information as fast as it drives meaning it can slaughter hundreds in a matter of minutes. 

SCP-AFM is not indestructible but is able to repair itself from any form of damage. It's even possible for the anomaly to temporarily give other motorcycles or bikes life and its anomalous abilities to act as its bodyguards or soldiers. It is believed that SCP-AFM gains power the more it kills as its abilities expand in range as a result to its increased death. 

SCP-AFM was created in 2014 during a containment breach caused by Group of Interest: The Black Queen's Insurgency. A janitor within the site was revealed to be an agent of the GoI and directed the infiltrators to both SCP-AAP's and SCP-AFN where they forced the anomalies together resulting in the creation of SCP-AFM. The janitor then rode SCP-AFM out of the site killing everyone he came across. The site suffered a 2% population loss that day and all forces from the Black Queen's Insurgency got away without suffering a single casualty. This marks yet another of our most embarrassing failures. 

"So that's why they created SCP-AFN, they wanted to use it as a piece to create a stronger SCP. I just wasn't expecting them to use an SCP already in our containment as the other half of the puzzle. Death has always been commonplace within the Foundation, but the Black Queen's Insurgency really finds ways to make it happen in the most horrific and frustrating ways possible. Still though, I like so many others can't help but be confused, we don't know much about the Black Queen's Insurgency other than the fact that it's ruled by the many dimensional iterations of Alison Chao, same with the original Black Queen group. But why is this new group so militaristic all of a sudden and why does she attack our reality when [data expunged] nor his daughter have ever existed in this reality because of The Reset. She should have no reason to hate us... so why does she?" - Dr. Bones

What is the difference between a loan officer and a mortgage broker?

A mortgage broker acts as a middleman between the buyer and the lender, while a loan officer works for the lender directly. In certain states, a mortgage broker must be approved.

Lending practices and licenses are controlled by states, and the laws differ from one state to the next. For those who want to be a "Broker Associate," a "Brokerage Company," or a "Direct Lender," most states require a license. A mortgage broker is usually required to register with the state and is personally responsible for any fraud committed during the term of the loan.

A loan officer is employed by an entity, usually a bank or a direct lender, under the umbrella license of that institution. To avoid fraud and fully disclose loan terms to both the borrower and the lender, both roles have legal, moral, and professional responsibilities and obligations. Mortgage brokers' agents are often referred to as "loan officers."

Person and company licenses are required by the Nationwide Multi-State Licensing System and Registry for mortgage brokers. To celebrate my first post on the blog, I decided to write a review about the light novel I am currently reading. I have a class of cold water near me, though it has been raining over the last few days the weather has become somewhat warm. I have not yet switched on the AC, but the fan is running at full speed. As I read on my laptop, I have a few thoughts about this book.

I was looking for a nice East Asian historical light novel - having recently read My Happy Marriage and The Apothecary Diaries, so I was eager to experience the intrigue of palace politics and learn more about emperors and kings, and consorts. And I was not disappointed at all!

So what is the light novel Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower about?

The light novel follows the story of Setsu Rimi, a princess from the land of Wakoku. While she served as the Umashi-no-Miya, she was sent as a tribute to Konkoku, a powerful foreign empire as their new Emperor ascended his throne. As a foreign princess and having basically done nothing but cook for her god, Rimi has no clue about Konkaku's customs, and importantly, food. With just her pot of kaorizuke will Rimi be able to win the hearts of the people in the palace? This is somewhat the understanding I have of the story so far. 

Let's discuss the main character.

The main character, Setsu Rimi is wonderfully carefree and kind-hearted. Although she seems to be smart enough to sustain herself in a completely foreign land, she is somewhat of an air-head. She is obsessed with food, and her chatter with Shusei has been very interesting to observe. Most of the situations and trouble she gets into are because of external circumstances - misunderstanding because of the language, cultural differences, and the fact that no one thought of hiring a tutor to help her assimilate into the Rear Palace. Her reactions seem to be natural, and her carefree attitude is backed by a solid backstory from her childhood. We haven't yet seen her personal involvement with the male character cast, and she gets dragged into politics as the story goes on. Overall, although her character is pretty common in reverse harem light novels, I am eager to see how she develops!

How is the male (also known as the bishounen)cast?

There are four important men in the cast and needless to say, they are all beautiful. 

As a tribute, the person who technically owns, Rimi is the Emperor himself, Shohi. Shohi seems to be a cold-hearted and sadistic person. Though he ascended to the throne at such a young age, he was smart and beautiful and his heart is made of ice. The Emperor also cannot seem to taste food. 

On the other hand, the one Rimi has interacted with the most, is Shusei. Both of them share food & cuisinology as deep interests. He is smart and though intelligent chooses to involve himself in studying food sciences to the point where he is known as the Loveless Scholar. He is the kind of person who wants to use any chance he gets to conduct experiments and learn more about food.

Then we have Master Hakurei, a 'supposed' eunuch from the Rear Palace, who is very high in the hierarchy. Because of Rimi's kind-heartedness, he has saved her life and ensured she was not worse off in the Rear Palace drama. He is said to be intensely beautiful and has taken a certain liking to Rimi. However, he seems somewhat forceful and his liking towards Rimi doesn't seem to be without ulterior motives.

Finally, we have Shin Jotetsu. While there isn't really much interaction between Rimi and Jotetsu in the first book, he seems to be the strong, rough fellow you often see in the reverse harem genre.

Overall Impression?

I liked the premise of Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower, and I enjoyed the pleasant writing in the light novel. I had not expected it to have a reverse harem when I started reading, but I appreciate that the romance is slow-paced and the men haven't fallen for the main character without reason. I also loved how the main character was insightful and down-to-earth. It seemed to be a slightly refreshing take on the typical reverse harem heroine. Although I was feeling intimidated by the male cast, I have come to enjoy them and their bonds with each other. The first book seems to focus on establishing the characters in their roles and does so successfully. 

As a side note, I also enjoyed the descriptions of how the main character interacted with a different culture too. 

By the time I finished writing this post, I'd finished my glass of water and enjoyed a nice lunch of rice and sambhar. The light novel talks highly about flavors in stock and I wondered if I would be able to even taste it as I come from a place where spices and combination flavourings are the norm. Maybe I should stop by a Japanese restaurant soon!

What is demurrage?

Demurrage is a fine to the buyer that is levied by a courier or freight provider if they do not take their goods away from a port or terminal. Often ports and terminals allow importers to store goods or containers for a number of ‘free’ days, after which charges are applied.

As an example; let’s say a container of widgets is being shipped from a supplier in China to a port in Amsterdam. The delivery is due on the 8th April and the consignee collects the delivery on the 20th April.

The shipping line normally allows 7 free days of storage (which is typical for shipping lines) therefore the consignee has until the 13th April to pick up the goods, after which they will get charged. So of the 14 days ‘dwell’ time of the goods, 7 days are free and 7 days are eligible to be charged demurrage. Demurrage would be calculated by a fixed charge times the number of days the container was held for after the free period.

What Causes Demurrage Charges?

The causes of demurrage can vary, but typical causes include:

Errors or discrepancies in shipment documentation

Late receipt or loss of shipment documentation

Port congestion

Issues during customs clearance or cargo inspection

Labor shortages at the port

Failure to pay freight charges in full

Delay or abandoning of cargo by the consignee

Bad weather

Lack of container visibility

Some of these causes are unavoidable. Even the most proactive supply chain leaders experience at least occasional difficulty with the above factors. However, there are steps they can take to avoid demurrage charges.

What is detention?

Other than the one issued for being naughty at school, detention is another charge that can be levied by a shipping transport provider for not returning an empty container to a container yard or port after an agreed time.

As an example, if the buyer of goods takes a container to their factory for 14 days to unpack, and the shipping port allows just 10 days to return the box, then the shipping line will be charged ‘detention’ for 4 days.

What is the difference between demurrage and detention?

Demurrage and detention are typically found together in logistics. They are two separate things, but they're closely linked. When an importer fails to remove its goods from a port or terminal within the allotted grace period granted by the carrier, a penalty is assessed. This penalty is known as demurrage. The same happens to export shipments when a container is already at the export terminal and cannot depart within the allotted free time.

On the other hand, detention results when empty containers are not returned to the container yard or terminal within the agreed period of time.

What’s the difference between demurrage and detention charges?

Demurrage and detention charges are both levied by shipping companies. Typically, when you need to ship a consignment, you would need to rent a container from a shipping company. The rental period covers the time spent in transit and a certain number of days at the port. Demurrage and detention charges refer to the penalties related to using the container for longer than the planned period. While shippers look at these charges as unreasonable, shipping lines justify them as it ensures the efficient use of containers. 

Demurrage charges are the penalties applicable if your container sits at the port for longer than the free time agreed upon. This applies to containers that have reached the origin port and cannot be loaded onto the ships as well as containers that have been unloaded at the destination port but not collected from the container terminal.

For example, let’s say your container reaches the port and is unloaded from the ship but traffic congestion and a closed highway keep your trucks from reaching the port. In such cases, you will be charged demurrage until your trucks reach the terminal and take the containers out. 

Detention charges are incurred if you keep the container outside the terminal for longer than the number of free days provided. They are usually incurred at the port of discharge when you take the container out of the container terminal but are unable to empty and return it on time. 

Let’s say your trucks reached the terminal in time and your containers were brought to your distribution center. However, you were unable to unload the containers because of a worker strike. In such events, you will be charged detention fees for the number of extra days you keep the container. 

How do you avoid these charges?

Storage, demurrage and detention charges can quickly increase the costs of importing your merchandise; therefore, it is essential to closely monitor the arrival of the merchandise. Here are a few tips: 

Make sure that your customs broker is notified that your container or merchandise will soon arrive.

Check to ensure that your carrier is notified that your container or merchandise will soon arrive to ensure that your merchandise will be picked up during the free of charge storage period offered by the terminal.

If possible, have all the information about your merchandise sent to your customs broker or freight forwarder.

As soon as you receive your merchandise, empty the container as soon as possible and return the empty container to the right location. Otherwise, the shipping line considers that the container is still in your possession, and detention charges will accumulate until you ask your carrier to retrieve the empty container and return it to the location provided by the shipping line.   

There was a time not long ago when demurrage and detention fees were rare. Today, though, these fees can add up to significant expenses if shippers, freight forwarders, and BCOs don't take action to avoid them. One of Swedish warship Vasas crew was a woman

About thirty people died when Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. We cannot know who most of them were, only one person is named in the written sources. When the ship was raised in 1961 it was the scene of a comprehensive archaeological excavation, in which numerous human bones were found on board and examined. “Through osteological analysis it has been possible to discover a great deal about these people, such as their age, height and medical history. Osteologists recently suspected that G could be female, on the basis of the pelvis. DNA analysis can reveal even more”, says Dr Fred Hocker, director of research at the Vasa Museum, in Stockholm, Sweden. Since 2004 the Vasa Museum has collaborated with the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University in Sweden to investigate all of the remains from Vasa and find out as much as possible about each individual. Initially the project focused on confirming if certain bones belonged to a specific person. Marie Allen, professor of forensic genetics, has led the work. “For us, it is both interesting and challenging to study the skeletons from Vasa. It is very difficult to extract DNA from bone which has been on the bottom of the sea for 333 years, but not impossible”, says Marie Allen. She continues: “Already some years ago we had indications that skeleton G was not a man but a woman. Simply put, we found no Y-chromosomes in G’s genetic material. But we could not be certain and wanted to confirm the result”. The result has now been confirmed thanks to an interlaboratory study with Dr Kimberly Andreaggi of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System’sArmed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFMES-AFDIL) in Delaware, USA. The AFMES-AFDIL is the American Department of Defense’s laboratory, specializing in human remains DNA testing from deceased military personnel. They have established a new testing method for the analysis of many different genetic variants. “We took new samples from bones for which we had specific questions. AFMES-AFDIL has now analysed the samples, and we have been able to confirm that G was a woman, thanks to the new test”, says Marie Allen. For Marie Allen and Kimberly Andreaggi, the analysis of the Vasa skeletons is a way to develop their forensic methods, which can then be used to analyse DNA in criminal investigations or to identify fallen soldiers. For the Vasa Museum the results of the DNA analysis are an important puzzle piece in the museum’s research into the people on the ship. Dr. Anna Maria Forssberg, historian and researcher at the museum, explains: “We want to come as close to these people as we can. We have known that there were women on board Vasa when it sank, and now we have received confirmation that they are among the remains. I am currently researching the wives of seamen, so for me this is especially exciting, since they are often forgotten even though they played an important role for the navy“. More results are expected shortly from the new samples. Marie Allen and Kimberly Andreaggi will be able to say something about how individuals looked, what colour their hair and eyes had, and possibly where their families came from. “Today we can extract much more information from historic DNA than we could earlier and methods are being continuously refined. We can say if a person was predisposed to certain illnesses, or even very small details, such as if they had freckles and wet or dry ear wax”, says Marie Allen. The Vasa Museum’s researchers are currently studying the skeletons from several perspectives, including the personal possessions found with them. Eventually the results will be presented in an exhibition at the museum and a book about the people who died on board Vasa.

📚 A song or album you could write a term paper on

As i've said in the other ask i'm not that big on analyzing, but i have an album i could maybe do some creative writing on!

I listened to Orden Ogan quite a bit when i got into Power Metal around 10th grade, and i think i remember this being a concept album. The plot is pretty vague – the cover art should already give you most of the information – but that just leaves more room for creativity! In fact i believe i actually had some very, very rough ideas for a story in this setting, but i never really pursued it further.

🎥 A song that gives you a really specific mental image

This question honestly gave me much more trouble than i would have thought. I guess listening in the background is the culprit again; daydreaming is difficult when you're doing something else! Maybe i should spend more transit time only listening to music. Speaking of which, that is kind of the image i get from the song i eventually settled on:

Maybe picking a song from a video game that therefore already has visuals attached to it is cheating, but who cares. It gives me an image of an idealized small town, a bit run down and grungy but still homely. Like i said, it is an idealized image, an escapist fantasy. And in true escapist, media protagonist fashion it is a song you listen on the bus, looking out the window at snow falling on said town (without leaning your face against the glass though; we don't want to leave grease stains!)

Last year i actually spent many hours modifying a map in Cities Skylines for this idyllic, wintry town, then ended up only laying down a few roads for the city itself. Maybe i'll go back.
