Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his childhood friend Leti Lewis (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip from Chicago across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father, Montrose Freeman (Michael K. Williams). Their search-and-rescue turns into a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and monstrous creatures that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

Lovecraft Country stars Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey, Underground), Jonathan Majors (Da 5 Bloods, The Last Black Man in San Francisco), Aunjanue Ellis (When They See Us), Wunmi Mosaku (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time), Jada Harris (The Resident), and Michael K. Vance (HBO’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, American Crime Story), Jamie Neumann (HBO’s The Deuce), Jordan Patrick Smith (Vikings) and Tony Goldwyn (Scandal).

The series is executive produced by Misha Green, J.J. A transformer outside my house blew up and lit the telephone pole on fire

Naturally im looking at the fire and then it explodes again, and goddamn it was bright, my eyes feel like I was staring at a welding arc for a half hour. Been a hot minute and my eyes still hurt and got a big spot in my vision.

The second, and then third explosions seem to have somehow blown the fire out though, so thats good?

I just tried one of the pickles from my first ever batch. It’s still early in the fermentation process, so it’s more like a half-sour than a proper kosher dill, nvm like a garlic full sour. It was pretty good though! So let’s see, I make a mean latke, I’ve already absolutely nailed curing brisket - for corned beef - and rubbing and smoking it for pastrami. Just gotta work on my baking skills to get some rye bread, then get my kreplach down, and maybe derma, and then my house is a whole ass kosher deli (minus y’know the part where I have pork)

I've been really into making wet cured meats for the past six months or so, plenty of bacon, and pastrami, and pastrami with less steps which is just corned beef. But I ran out of prague powder and had to order some since I cant find it in stores locally, but I got sent the wrong item - 1lb of alum powder - they let me keep after sending the right thing though.

I had no idea what alum is for, but apparently its mostly used to help keep the cronch in lactoferment pickled veggies n fruits. So I picked up a bunch of Kirby cucumbers, and if this works out well... isn't every transwoman's dream an endless supply of pickles?

i just really wanna learn to make more ashke jewish-american foods - even the most stereotypical shit. My dad really didn’t pick up on.... welll.... any cooking at all, so I never learned how to make anything from that cultural side of the fam. It’s all soo gooood (well, maybe I’ll pass on the gefilte fish) , and if I ever end up outside of the NY-metro area, I’ll basically have to rely on myself to make it proper for not just myself, but to share with loved ones!!! So I gotta learn n keep it alive
