My Autobiography

I am Nirmal Vasanth, a seasoned hospitality professional with nearly two decades  of diverse experience in both industry and academia. My journey began with a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Oriental School of Hotel Management, which laid a solid foundation for my career. Pursuing further education, I earned a Swiss Higher Diploma in Hotel Management from Cesar Ritz Colleges in Switzerland, a Bachelor's degree from Chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, and two Master's degrees in Hotel Management and Catering Technology, and Education and Counselling Management from IKG Punjab Technical University.

Throughout my career, I have focused on my skills in food and beverage management, restaurant consulting, and curriculum design. My professional path has been marked by significant roles, such as serving as the Head of the Department at Chandigarh University, where I managed over 72 teaching staff and 3000 students, and as an Associate Director at Acsenda School of Management, where I oversee the Bachelor of Hospitality Management program. My role as an Internship Coordinator allows me to bridge the gap between academia and industry, facilitating strategic placements for students across British Columbia.

In addition to my academic roles, I have also thrived in the industry, working as a Shift Leader and Consultant at Browns Socialhouse and as a Sous Chef at The Park Residency, Manali. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of food and beverage operations, quality control, and team management.

Fluent in multiple languages, including English, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and beginner-level French, I am committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. My strong industry network and dedication to education continue to guide students towards achieving their professional aspirations in the hospitality sector.

Duolingo English Test (DET) / Universities Accepting Duolingo 2023

Duolingo evaluates candidates using four criteria—reading, writing, listening and speaking—just like other proficiency tests. Since then, some universities, but not all of them, have begun accepting results from the Duolingo English proficiency exam.
