am I, as a resident evil gameverse fan, supposed to be preprogrammed into hating the w.s. anderson films? yeah, with all the discourse and (frankly excessive) trashing of the series this side of the fandom you’d think so.
does that stop me from enjoying them in a “guilty pleasure” sort of way? absolutely fucking not. have you seen the clairice aberfield ship?!?
no thoughts, just my babies and their homoerotic friendship <33
The scent of the ocean is overwhelmingly salty. The first time Alice's been able to stop and smell it since waking up in the mansion, she has to pause and tip her head back, her slowly normalizing T-Virus-less senses taking over.
So...
This is the ocean.
Only turning as Claire approaches, Alice offers her a tired smile. "Everyone out now?"
Claire smiles back at her before momentarily looking towards the people milling around on deck. "Yes. Though, I've left Chris and K-Mart in charge for now."
Alice nods. Moves to press her head against Claire's, relaxing for a moment, "Nice."
There’s just so much gay longing in RE: Extinction, RE: Afterlife, and RE: The Final Chapter. I mean, they are literally the only movies in that franchise that I watch repeatedly the way I do. People will tell you Apocalypse is the best one but that’s just not true. It’s Extinction. It’s always going to be Extinction. That scene with the crows is just so fucking good, and the chemistry between Alice and Claire is flawless. When Claire screams in anguish and rage and Alice starts fighting the programming? Amazing! Quality! That timing and the choice to use Claire are purposeful, I am telling you.
The fact that when Alice wakes up at the end of The Final Chapter to see Claire’s face? When so often that role is played by the love interest? Let me tell you there is no way that they didn’t do that purposefully. It’s Alice and Claire at the end of the world, baby. If those three movies proved anything, it’s that they understand each other on a deep level.
I mean, Claire dropped Doc like a hot potato, no regrets, the minute Alice turned up again. There was no heartbreak there, you can see it in her face. There was anger and disgust, but she didn’t look like she was losing the love of her life. Not like how she looked when it seemed like Alice was going to have to sacrifice herself (again) to save the world. When Claire thought Alice was going to die, it looked like her heart was being ripped out of her chest. I don’t think she could kill Alice even if Alice betrayed her. (I mean, she probably could, but it would be a very different scene from the one with Doc.)
You cannot make this shit up, and if they made another movie, they’d have to pair Alice and Claire together canonically because I’m pretty sure that 75% of the active fan base is sapphic women who love watching beautiful women wield weapons (it’s certainly not the video game fans!), and we’d riot.
Where there was a resident evil movieverse fandom and the lesbian ship was called Clairice Aberfield.
Lovingly crafted, janky gifsets. Playlists on 8tracks. Fanfiction.net. YouTube MVs.
Things grew. Lost Girl existed. Now there was actual lesbians lesbianing on a regular TV network (Syfy). And they were lesbianing hard.
We sailed the seas looking for the pirated Canadian versions of episodes because well, there was More to Watch™. I was but a young lass of 15.
It would seem the show was completely carried by lesbians. The showrunners had mercy on us.
Did the plot make any sense? No. No, but they ended up together and alive and in love in the end. What a revolution.
This show *ended* in 2015. Almost a decade ago, my children.
I was deeply involved in the Agent Carter fandom, of that ill fated ship, wrecked upon the rocks of Marvel's wretched, cursed shore- Cartinelli. What could have been, was not, because the people at Marvel are cowards. And so we placed gunpowder in the hold and destroyed the show. Our cargo long infected by the rot of media production and heteronormativity.
The show ended after season 2 because it did not have us to be a pillar. And we were its strongest pillar.
Of course, dear young ones, things are different now. I am almost 30 and an entirely different gender. Regina George is and her actress are gay as the hills are tall. They made a 2nd L Word for some reason.
William Habberfield aka ‘Slender Billy’ of Pimlico
Let’s begin this piece with William’s surname, I have come across quite a few documents about this man, but none of which seem to know exactly what the spelling of his surname was – Habberfield, Huberfield, Heberfield, Aberfield, the list goes on, was making it impossible so far, to find anything more as yet as to where he came from or even who he was married to. What is known without any doubt…
