coming back from the dead on tumblr to mourn this absolutely tragic loss. if you followed me between 2016-2018 and you would know just how much i loved Adan Canto and his character Aaron Shore, and from my interactions with others in the fandom, i know so many people felt the same way i did. he was such an immensely talented actor, and he could bring me to tears through his facial expressions alone, he was just that good. he will always be remembered for the amazing work he did and the brave, incredible man he was. i know myself and everyone else will keep his family and friends in our hearts and minds.
Rest in Power, Adan.

I cannot comprehend Adan Canto passing away at only 42. This is so fucking sad. I'm in shock at the news. You'll always be in our hearts. RIP 😭💔

“Emily I should have stopped the moment I realized what Lorraine was doing. You and Elena mean everything to me. I mean it . . . I. . . “
She held up her hand. “No, it was me. I overreacted.”
“You had every reason to overreact.”
She walked closer to his desk. “I jumped the gun. . . I. . .”
He smiled. “You better watch saying gun in the white house.”
Emily smirked, suddenly feeling much more at ease. She glanced over at the corner of his desk, where sure enough just as Seth had said, behind a scorpion paperweight, was a picture of him and her. She nodded towards it. “I have the same picture in my night stand.”
This caused him to smile. “It made coming into this office every day worthwhile.”
She bit her lip. “I shouldn’t have left. I was scared. . .I. . . we. . .”
Aaron nodded. “Yeah. . . we. . . I should. . . “
Emily glanced up at him. Their eyes met, words tied up in a moment of stillness. Emily turned her head, brushing off the heated tension rising between them, pretending to be engrossed in the artwork on the wall. Aaron struted over to her, and grabbed her face, pulling his lips to hers. He couldn't help himself. The only thing that mattered to him, was touching her.

~ Astríd Rivera & Designated Survivor ~
Okay, so I just started rewatching the show and Aaron is one of my favorite characters lol and I felt like giving him an OC daughter because that's what I do after I finish a show I love. Here's my idea for how to add her to the story so far:
In his late 18s to early 20s Aaron Shore met Victoria Mendoza (Broadway? Performer who aspired to become a famous actress) and they fell in love at first sight. They dated for a year or two and Victoria finds out she's pregnant. She abruptly broke up with Aaron because she didn't want to pressure a very ambitious Aaron with a bright future and she moved to Texas and raised Astríd there. Victoria gave Astríd her father's original last name as a memento to him and simply told her that her father passed away in a car crash. She, like her father, is super ambitious and focused on becoming a wealthy and successful fashion designer. Of course, she finds out eventually on her own. Before Victoria could stop her, she finds her father who had recently become Vice President, and tells him he's her daughter. Obviously, he's shook and really confused because as far as he knows, Victoria broke up with him and mysteriously moved away. My solution for the pregnancy storyline with Isabel (I haven't made it to season 3 on my rewatch but as of now I like Emron more) is that he respectfully breaks up with her eventually and officially dates Emily but he still helps take care of the child/Astríd's half brother. Oh, and shortly after Victoria, Astríd, and Aaron reunite Victoria mysteriously dies too because angst 😭 and this acts as a catalyst for Emily and Astríd's mother-daughter bonding in a way...
*some details of the show are foggy I'll correct them if I made any mistake*

In the absence of a clear and obvious angle to attack Bushnell’s protest, most likely due to his status as a serviceman that would make outright insulting him or suppressing the news itself scandalous, discussions on Western shores have now taken on the familiar framing of mental illness. In Time Magazine’s write-up of Bushnell’s death, the article finishes with a link to the suicide hotline, and asks readers to contact mental health providers if they are experiencing a “crisis.” Mark Joseph Stern, a writer at Slate, seemingly unasked, also wrote on Twitter/X:
“I strongly oppose valorizing any form of suicide as a noble, principled, or legitimate form of political protest. People suffering mental illness deserve empathy and respect, but it is wildly irresponsible to praise them for using a political justification to take their own life.”
Conviction does not exist to the American. To be willing to die in a selfless act for what they believe in only exists for those outside America's sphere of influence. Many will recall reporting on those who self-immolated in protest in Iran and in Russia for instance where this sort of approach, unwilling to engage with the root of its cause, would not even be entertained, let alone written and published with sincerity. The Arab Spring began with a self-immolation. The self-immolation of Buddhist monks in protest of South Vietnam’s persecution became defining images of the war and its corruption. Within America’s walls however, there is a belief, unspoken and ingrained from birth, that democracy allows for everyone’s voices to be heard and that its representatives are inherently inclined to respond to the people and their widespread wishes.
Desperation at inaction or complicity in terror and atrocity need not apply. Everyone incensed by their government to such an extent must simply have something wrong with them. To be able to go about one’s day knowing that children are screaming from the hunger that is eating their insides and that pregnant women are eating bread made from animal feed, and that the United States is supporting Israel’s creation of this famine, is apparently the real sign of well-adjustment.
