I'm just Ken

Eddie dressed up like Ken for Halloween because you made him. Now that may seem like you're a couple...when you think of Ken you think of him dating Barbie but alas you two aren't together. Where he sees love, it's clear you just see a friend.

Either way, he was just excited to hang out with you. When he first heard that Steve was throwing a Halloween party he was planning on bailing. He had a date with the couch and cheesy horror movies but then he got a call from you squealing on and on about how you found the cutest Barbie costume but you just needed a Ken to accessorize with. Hearing the excitement in your voice made his heart race. Thinking of you wanting him to be your Ken! That made his heart race even more so he agreed but as soon as he hung up he felt a sense of dread fall on him. There was no more of your joyful voice telling him that you'll plan the whole thing, there was just the feeling that he now has now that he realized that the whole night he'll have to do the sad nod and explain no you aren't dating...sadly.

This feeling really carries with him for the next few days but as soon as he saw you the feeling vanishes. All he can feel are these weird excitement butterflies, if he's being truthful he only gets this feeling when he sees you. As he is daydreaming you finally approach him and it isn't until your voice graces the air that he snaps out of it. "Are we still on for Saturday?" You asked hopeful, as if he would ever flake on you. "Of course we are sweetheart" He says as nonchalantly as he possibly can, trying his hardest to not show that his heart is pounding out of his chest. A faint blush dusted your cheeks and if he wasn't staring in awe at you he would've completely missed the pink. You end up saying goodbye before he can question what he saw and to his dismay he doesn't get to see you again until you are knocking on his front door with a bag of makeup and the costumes in your arms.

He opens the door as soon as he hears the knocking and you immediately rush in. "Oh, Eddie! I have never been so excited for a party before! Look at what I got us!" You walk further into the small trailer and lay the costumes out on the couch. Eddie's eyes wince at all the hot pink but he makes sure that you just see a smile. "That looks great" he mutters as he watches you gather your stuff once more and leave to the bathroom. "Get dressed! I'll be ready in a few!" You call out from behind the bathroom door and all he can do is chuckle and grab what is left in front of him. Damn. This is going to be a long night. He thinks to himself as he starts to change.

Thankfully his outfit contained no pink at all. It also doesn't contain a shirt...He ties his bandana around his head and fixes the fur coat to sit more on his shoulders. As he walks out of his room, you walk out of the bathroom and walk right into his bare chest. You squeal and take a step back to get a good look at him. "Eddie! Oh, you look amazing!" You smile up at him with a big, bright pink smile and his cheeks nearly match the shade of lipstick you chose. You grip his arm and pull him to the door, "Come on Ed we have to go or we will be late!"

At the party, the first people you run into are Steve and Robin, who are also Barbie and Ken ironically. Steve chuckles seeing the version of Ken you chose to go along with your Barbie and Eddie looks him up and down. "Hi, Barbie!" You and Robin say at the same time with sharp little waves. Steve waves to Eddie, "Hi...Ken?" This makes Eddie roll his eyes, "I'm the much better Ken."

Robin chuckles and then asks, "So, are you like rock star Ken or something?" Eddie shakes his head and shrugs, "I'm just Ken"

It isn't long until Eddie loses his Barbie, he sighs and walks to the punch bowl hoping that someone has already spiked it. Not shortly after his arrival Steve walks over and Eddie looks towards him with a look on his face "Is this our destiny? I'm going to be honest with you Harrington, these feelings I'm having for her...god they're driving me insane" Steve looks over at him feeling bad for his friend "well what are the feelings? How do you feel about her?" Eddie just shakes his head as he watches you dance out on the dance floor with Robin and sighs. "I can't even explain them."

Pairing: Jeremy Renner x female reader

Plot summary: After Jeremy and Ava went to watch Barbie, and you get back from grocery shopping, you hear a certain song blasting on Jeremy’s playlist once you get back home…

Word count: 688 words

Warnings: Fluff, just fluff. Author’s note: I watched Barbie at the cinema and I absolutely loved it! I feel like Ava would drag Jeremy along to watch Barbie with her, and I stand by that. Also Jeremy is definitely a Ken, and I would think he would play Ken if it didn’t go to Ryan 😂 So enjoy this short drabble I just wrote!

As you get back home from a busy day of grocery shopping, you closed the door to the house you share with your boyfriend, Jeremy and his daughter Ava. You tried to carry two full bags through the front door as you call out to the two of them. “Hey! I’m back!” You heard Ava run from her room towards the front door as she went up to you, helping you with the shopping, taking the lighter bag out of the two for you. “Thank you Ava. Now, where’s your dad?” You ask him, as Ava smiled and pointed at his music studio.

You nodded back, thanking her before you both made your way to the kitchen. “How was Barbie, Ava?” You continued to ask her, you didn’t go with her as you already seen it with your best friend y/bf/n, so Ava dragged Jeremy to go and see it instead. “It was amazing! Daddy got me a Barbie and Ken doll afterwards! Can you play with me later?” Ava excitingly said to you, slightly jumping up and down.

“Of course, you go up to your room and prepare our playdate whilst I’ll go and surprise your dad, okay?” Ava nodded again as she rushed back to her room to get the dolls. In the meantime, putting away everything only took a few minutes, and that gave you time to check in on Jeremy. You knew he was currently making music because of two reasons: the first one being obvious as in his accident earlier that year, and the other reason being the writer strikes going on right now. You slowly walk towards the music studio, and your ears pricked up like a dog as you heard a familiar song going on behind the door. Is that…? You quietly opened the door and the song became more clearer as ‘I’m Just Ken’ by Ryan Gosling – that was in the Barbie movie – was playing through Jeremy’s speakers. And he was singing along to it. ‘Did this mean that he liked the movie then?’ You thought to yourself as you sneaked up behind him. You have always adored his singing voice, even before your relationship with him and you made that clear on your first date. 'Cause I'm just Ken

“Hey Ken!” You teased him as you tapped him on the shoulder, which made him jump slightly and turned around to face you. “Oh my God Y/n! Don’t sneak up on me like that!” He retorted at you, sighing with relief to find out it was you who sneaked up on him. You just laughed.

“I just got back from shopping and Ava told me you would be in here.” You explained to him as you noticed that he was wearing some Barbie merch, more specifically the ‘I’m Just Kenough’ shirt that Ryan Gosling wore in the movie. “Did you enjoy the movie then?” You asked him, trying not to laugh as you snigger to yourself. “I did actually.” Jeremy said proudly.

“Y’know… you could’ve been in that movie as Ken. I mean, you’ve got a good enough singing voice.” You suggested to him with a smile. “Yes, but Ryan is more attractive than me…” You snigger as you playfully push him. “That is not true, you know that! Would you do it though, if Scarlett was Barbie?” You ask him with a slight smirk on your face. Jeremy smirked back as he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer towards him. “I would’ve done it either way.” He simply said, just before kissing you softly on the lips and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You were only slightly shorter than Jeremy, so you had to get on your tip-toes to kiss him.

"You're my Barbie, y'know that right?" Jeremy said to you, with a smile on his face.

"Yeah I know that..." You laugh at him, a smile on your face as well and both of your foreheads together. "And you're my Ken."

I was THERE, I SAW THEM!!! And then I love all my sets from Atzrevival but I guess the “Tingle Interview” one made me specially proud with the coloring etc

April - Finally some more SVT heheh The most popular set was the Silliest SCoups ever hahaha I love him; My most favorite is Joong and Bumjoong in Madrid cause I LOVE to see these brothers interact; then we have Barbie Mingi, this ADORABLE Puppy Gyu and some of my firsts Xikers gifs

August - FATHER AND SON FINALLY TOGETHER and I love that you all agree with me, making Mingi and Sumin the most popular post of the month hehe My favorite set after this one is Ateez's Family Dynamics (because I looooove their family like relationship) and a special shout out to Mingi's Birthday Post cause I was super proud of how it turned out

September - This post turned out way more pink than I wanted but this YunGi moment is so PERFECT I'm not surprised is the most popular post; Then we have Sunglasses Mingi making me weak in the knees as a favorite

October - I only created one post during October :') but Mingi being Babied by the Members is SO cute and the post went so well I'm sure it would be one of the most popular ones even if I had more, It would definitely be within the favorites

November - Again, just one post during the whole month... And honestly, I wasn't going to create at all, but I saw this DK at UNESCO and something *clicked* I HAD to gif it

December - Crazy Form promotions made me create a little more this month (lots of Mingi to no one's surprise)... 'Generally speaking, studios will try to keep big movies out of one another's way. After all, nobody wins if two releases cannibalize the same audience. But every once in a while, two very big movies do open on the same day, making for a memorable box office showdown. This summer, we have one of the biggest ones in recent memory with "Barbie" vs. "Oppenheimer" dominating the conversation online in recent weeks. The question is, can both of these big-budget films succeed at once? Perhaps, but there is going to be a very clear winner.

Director Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," which stars Margot Robbie in the lead role, is absolutely going to win the battle on opening weekend, and it's probably not going to be remotely close. Box Office Pro currently has the film set to open between $115 and $155 million. That's superhero movie money right there, and well above initial projections, which had the film coming in around $80 million on opening weekend. Clearly, things are trending up in a big way.

Meanwhile, director Christopher Nolan's biopic "Oppenheimer," which has Cillian Murphy leading an A-list ensemble, is looking to settle for second place with a projected debut anywhere between $40 and $57 million. That may be a far cry from what Universal had in mind when they landed the rights to distribute the film, ending Nolan's long relationship with Warner Bros. Then again, the studio wasn't anticipating competition of this caliber. Surprisingly enough, Nolan, the man who made "The Dark Knight," finds himself an underdog here.

Gerwig vs. Nolan

Large swaths of the internet have embraced both sides of the showdown, with a great many moviegoers gladly planning their "Barbenheimer" double features. In a way, this is great for the industry in a summer when many big movies have underdelivered. "The Flash" is the shining example, but "Elemental" and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" are also in that camp. So for both the studios and theaters, having two big films from two beloved directors drawing audiences in at the same time could be a good thing.

Unfortunately, it seems like the more expensive movie is actually on the wrong end of the equation here. Nolan recently spoke with Variety at the London premiere for "Oppenheimer" and said, "It's a 180-page script and it's a $180 million movie." While that's not an official budget, it sure sounds like it was a lot more expensive than the original $100 million estimates indicated. On the other side, Warner Bros. is said to have spent $100 million on "Barbie" before marketing. For what it's worth, the marketing campaign has been wild and impressive — which means it was probably expensive too.

But if "Oppenheimer" really did cost $180 million, it would need extremely long legs and a ton of help from overseas audiences to break even. You would probably be looking at a $500 million (give or take) break-even point for Universal. Meanwhile, "Barbie" is going to be set up for success even if it comes in on the lower end of projections. If it continues to ramp up in the final days leading up to the release? The gap between the two could widen even further.

Ideally, everyone wins

Ideally, everyone is going to win. "Barbie" is going to become one of the biggest hits of the summer, while "Oppenheimer" can be a slow-burn hit in its own right that stays in the conversation through awards season. It's a tough ask for audiences to show up for both of these movies at a time when nothing seems certain in the movie business anymore. But rather than move off of that date, Universal and Warner Bros. opted for a showdown. The studios previously faced off 15 years ago when "The Dark Knight" ($1 billion worldwide) opened directly against "Mamma Mia!" ($609 million worldwide). In that case, both movies made bank and everyone walked away happy.

The long-term impact of both movies succeeding would be pretty wonderful, as it would encourage studios to get creative with counterprogramming, allowing for more big movies to exist at the same time. Granted, that relies on good movies being made but, in this case, the response has been very positive in the early going. So it's really just a matter of making sure both movies find their audience, as the industry truly needs that to happen.'

‘A Heart With Wings’

Warnings: mentions of a toxic relationship, the word s*x is mentioned, angst, y’all are going to cry for Hangman.. sorry. This Chapter mostly covers what happened in the 3 months that they were back home from deployment.

Chapter 3

Hangman’s POV... During the 1st month..

  That first night back in San Diego at Hard Deck, Hangman spent most of his time with his new Barbie Girl, Cathrine Jeffries. She was very attentive to him and made Hangman feel seen and his ego that night had boosted big time. He felt like he was soaring every time Jeffries complimented him or brushed her hand on his puffed chest or well built arms. He thought he had fallen harder for her when she mentioned that she had just joined Top Gun, she showed him her call sign, ‘Malibu’. She then explained to him that she was given the call sign: Malibu, because she was from there and looked like a Malibu Barbie. Hangman totally agreed and liked her for it. Catherine’s little girl friends stayed only for a little while then left, leaving Cathrine with Hangman alone. The night was getting late and both Hangman and Malibu were a little buzzed, one thing led to another and they ended up in the same bed that night in his home. After that night, they convinced each other that it was meant to be, they were one another’s destiny. Two flight pilots madly in love it seemed. In two weeks she had started to stay there more frequently, her things ending up at his place more and more. Hangman took her out on endless dates and spoiled her rotten, as she gave him her ‘endless attention.’ Soon Jeffries introduced Hangman to her friends and ‘new team’. Though Jeffries mentioned that a Constantine Oceans was a part of the team too, but that she never liked to come because she hated Jeffries guts, and from there Jeffries always spoke trash about Oceans with her friends and Jake, making him believe that Oceans was indeed a terrible person with a nasty ego and hurtful personality.

 But Jake liked the rest of them, he just had a little problem with their over judgements and gossip, but he’d ignore most of it and instead tried to get used to how they were. So, In the first month, things looked romantic and great for them.. and in order.. basically almost perfect. 

Oceans POV.. during the 1st month..

 Oceans went back to Hard Deck the following day, more fresh, sober and somewhat happy to have an actual conversation with her new friend, Penny. Penny was more than pleased to see the new familiar face walk in with her natural orangish curls bouncing as she sorta skipped towards the bar with a cheerful voice calling out to her by name. Oceans insisted she’d help Penny for a while at the bar, to keep herself occupied, and Penny agreed after being constantly begged and convinced by Oceans saying that it was ‘good for her’. That same day Maverick came by again with Rooster, Phoenix and Bob. Maverick soon introduced himself to Oceans as ‘Penny’s man’, and became well acquainted with her as he formally introduced himself. Rooster right away took Oceans under his wing as he accompanied her during the afternoon telling her that if anyone messed with her that he’d deal with them. And also right away he got comfortable calling her ‘sis’, and Oceans couldn’t of been happier, comforted to have someone to see her as a sister again. The minute Phoenix and Bob told Oceans their side of their life and story, while showing off their true, fun and silly personalities, she knew immediately  that they’d become the ‘Trouble Triplets’. Often the pulled funny pranks on Maverick and a few accidentally involved Cyclone when he was around. But it wasn’t supposed to happen that way of course.

  That evening was the beginning of a beautiful friendship she grew with these people. Maverick treated Oceans like a daughter, always watching out for her and being interested in her conversations, and always making a point to laugh out loud at Oceans’ silly jokes (even if they were just too cheesy). Oceans began to work daily at the Hard Deck and received a small check every weekend, though Oceans told Penny she was just volunteering. But Penny wouldn’t dare send Oceans home dry after doing good, and hard work. On  Fridays and Saturdays Oceans would hang out with Maverick and Rooster, as she helped them fix Mavericks plane. Maverick grew to like the fact that Oceans knew everything about a plane, and began to see her potential, and her knowledge about Top Gun, he just didn’t know how or why she knew so much yet. On Sundays she’d hang out with Phoenix and Bob, and soon Payback, Coyote, and Fanboy joined their group. They’d have trips around San Diego, and they loved to hang out on the beach. Oceans soon was very comfortable with all of them, it was like she had become a part of their team,  she loved it, and so did they. 

 Hangman’s POV.. the 2nd month..

 As time passed, Hangman began to realize how controlling Jeffries was, there were several times where Coyote and Rooster would invite him for a ‘guys night’ and the minute he told her about going, she’d get very emotional and cry saying that he didn’t love her and preferred his friends over her. Sometimes they would even show up to hang out and he’d have to tell them that he didn’t have time, saying he was busy, using his girlfriends words of course, and that maybe next time it’d probably be possible, but next time never came. And when they’d call or text, he’d have to go to the restroom and answer quickly, if not Jeffries would start accusing him of cheating. Which he always said he wasn’t, and showed her his texts from his friends, but she’d either way get upset. Soon her manipulation got the best of Hangman and he’d do everything she wanted instead, soon leaving all the invitations from his friends to hang, he began to live up to his call sign. Hangman thought that if he upset his girlfriend that it would make him look bad, and wrong. This was honestly his first, longest relationship, he was more of a one-night-stand kind of guy before, and now that he changed, he didn’t want to screw it up. But Jeffries was taking advantage of his no knowledge about a real relationship and instead was showing him a very toxic way of how a relationship worked. Though Hangman loved having Jeffries company and thought their sex was great, he was beginning to feel a weird void from within. Soon he realized it was the fact he missed the warmth of ‘his team’, his family. But every time he’d try to escape with them, she’d come up with plans on the spot and take him away, saying he had to be there to support her, not realizing that she was using him as a walking trophy instead, for his high rank and kill counts, making her look better of course, because she had the ‘perfect partner or boyfriend’. But as the nights passed the void became bigger, as he missed saying to his wingman,

  ‘Night Roos..’ and Rooster saying back to him, ‘Night Hangs..’. Or telling his Captain,

  ‘What’s up Old Man?’ Or ‘What’s up Fossil?’ And Maverick would always reply with, ‘Just flying smoothly, son.’ Theirs replies to his silly gestures were enough for him to know he was wanted and loved by them, and Hangman dearly missed that.

 Oceans POV.. the 2nd month..

 Oceans by then had become extremely close to Maverick and Penny, and soon she was staying with them, because Maverick insisted that he didn’t want her living alone, ‘what if someone came to bother her and they weren’t there to help’ was his excuse. But Penny agreed and intrigued Oceans to take their offer, which she did. Soon their connection was close enough where Oceans was sharing her life story in details. And soon Maverick understood why she knew so much about Top Gun, Oceans was going to be an official Naval pilot herself. But learned also why she quit and never flew a jet again for Top Gun. Oceans told them that she was a Naval Mechanist at the moment, and seemed to enjoy it just fine. During that conversation, Penny asked what had gone wrong with the 4 girls that had walked into Hard Deck that day she came back, making Oceans leave immediately to avoid their presence.  

  Oceans ended up shared that story too, telling them how she overreacted to a comment Jeffries had made, causing her a whole scene. Maverick’s mind then began to run with ideas of what to do about that, sense Oceans had mentioned about having to be a part of their team again when they went back to the ocean. Oceans either way enjoyed being a mechanic for now, she felt safe and confident at her job. Then, at certain get togethers they had, Oceans was always hearing the words, ‘Why isn’t Hangman coming this time?’ ‘Where’s Jake?’ ‘Who’s got Seresin this time?’, she could only guess that there was a member of the team missing, but she never asked them personally questions, she only knew what they told her, which was that one of their pilots was ghosting them. 

 Hangman’s POV.. the 3rd month.. 

 The third month had finally come, meaning he now had to live on base to train before they got on the ship. To some extent he was mad ready to head back in the skies, and be away from Jeffries whom he had called ‘his love’ before. He was being more eye opened to the way she began to mistreat and embarrass him. During their time together, Hangman had made the mistake of sharing his insecurities with Jeffries, and soon she began to turn his own words against him and tease him about it, Jeffries was a bully at heart. What was only like a playful thing at first supposedly, soon began to really get ugly and just hurt him internally. One day it all came down when Jeffries told him to forcefully transfer to her team to be with her, to which he finally took the stand for his own good and said, ‘no’. It only made Jeffries angry that she couldn’t change his mind, so she began to degrade his rank and flying capabilities, saying she was much better and was going to be above him in everything. When he argued with her and said no that he’d make sure that it wasn’t possible, Jeffries used his insecurity issue to say yes, that because of that particular insecurity, he was always going to be nothing, which finally broke Hangman into pieces. Deep down his insecurity was a pretty bad issue, so her using that against him, made him believe everything she said. That day he had left the argument and went to get fresh air, to think about everything he had said and done, thinking that maybe he was the bad guy indeed, maybe just too sensitive all of a sudden. So he went back to his house to apologize, to which he regretted wholly when he found his house a disaster and all of Jeffries friends shaming and humiliating him. He didn’t know how many were there, all he remembers that night, is passing by and ignoring all of them while they did their shenanigans, taking his duffel bag for the Navy, packing all of his things that he knew he needed, and walked out, with a shattered heart and a tear stained face. 

 Before he would leave for base, he wanted to go to Hard Deck first and get some fresh air around his friends, explaining to them what had all gone wrong and that he had never left them because of him intentionally, so that’s where he headed exactly.

Oceans POV.. the 3rd month..

 Oceans had already packed her things and was about to head for base which was on the lower part of California, sense she was supposed to be getting on a different ship, her base was a different one too (the one Jeffries was going to be at) meaning she have to say goodbye to all her good friends. She went to Hard Deck to cry in Phoenixs’ and Bobs’ arms as she told them how much she’d miss them and their good times together, then in Roosters arms reminding him of all the good times they had together while dancing and fixing Mavericks plane. Coyote, Payback and Fanboy also listened to Oceans cry her heart out to them about the days they played football on the beach and how it was a great time. Penny had had her share of it all that morning, when Oceans had already started crying, and even more when Maverick was no where to be seen. Penny told Oceans that he had to run a quick, early errand, and soon she’d see him, which only comforted Oceans heart just a little bit. The early afternoon rolled around and Maverick was still no where to be seen, all of Oceans friends hated seeing their friend cry, so they hinted to one another to hype up the bar later in the afternoon, to hype up their friend, and make her goodbye special, without knowing Maverick would bomb them all at the end of the day. First, Phoenix being the best girlfriend she was, took Oceans to the near by shops, and had her hair get freshly trimmed and her nails done appropriately for the Navy, then went to buy her a dress, saying that she wanted Oceans last day in San Diego with them to be special, and special it would be indeed. Until it someone came to crash it in the end...

Movie Year in Review

I only started reporting back on our movie watching experiences in October, but I thought I'd do a summary of the whole year.

For Marvel films, I thought this was a pretty good year! The Marvels, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 were great, and Ant-Man 3 was very fun.

Fortunately no movie this year got either of the lowest scores. The worst films of the past year were The Machine, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and Inside, which were all at least watchable.

...And the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Okay, I know this one was more Eve focused but here we go!

Ezekiel in the short sleeves again...woah >:) Of course he remembers the pizza. Stone ‘you don’t like anchovies’ aw, you do care, you big softie cowboy. They boys only remembering the food before whatever happened happened is so funny. 

I love them all laughing and having an amazing time. ‘Flynn-be-gone-routine’ Ezekiel nailed that on the head. Ezekiel and Jacob both shaking their heads and silently telling Cassandra to stop. 

“Don’t you dare use the M word!” “Museum!!” that was ridiculous and hilarious. 

The boys both basically telling Eve that there are many entities that would want her dead as though it were a badge of honor? Not the time guys. 

I love Ezekiel interrupting the “discussion” to take the attention to the clippings book. Our boy was actually really concerned to lay it out that he’d find the door before mister stabby fingers. 

Big save from Cassandra!! Oh my gosh Jake, dating two girls and they end of up being sisters and he turns to look directly at Ezekiel as though that would be anything he would take into consideration. 

It’s a metriculator, it us metriculates. He’s honestly just done with other people by this point. Can’t even be bothered to make up an excuse. And then of course he locates where the magic is coming from. Such a smart boy. I swear it always looks like the goggles are upside down. 

‘Oh I hate prophecy more than I hate time travel.’ Agreed Eve, agreed. 

My beautiful, innocent gold! Ezekiel was ready to smack Zeus around for destroying his spoils. It’s quite funny to me that Ezekiel keeps putting the goggles all the way on while Baird just holds them up to her eyes. 

Ezekiel buddy, you can’t just use medieval weapons without any training.  

‘Show some respect for pre-destiny.’ ‘Show a little respect for me not getting killed by that thing!’ I’m on Ezekiel’s side Jake. ‘That is the sound of it being time yet!’ Yes it is!!! Jones running out first cuz he doesn’t have a death wish and believes in escaping danger. 

This whole discovering what all was going on all along was very time consuming. It is a wonder none of them realized her sand was running out. Jake stepping up and being quickly followed by Ezekiel, those boys care a lot about Eve, their Guardian. She would have changed the fate of The Library forever. I can absolutely believe that. 

Ezekiel still standing up for her. He was so stressed they were going to lose her. Them ending up in Australia was a little funny. “I’m home!  Before anyone asks me to throw another shrimp on the barbie just know I will punch you in the throat.” Oh sweet boy, how many times had people said that to you for that reaction? 

Aw, they got Jenkins to go out with them. Jake asking Ezekiel for money so he can gamble and Cassandra adding that they should go to a show, oh how I love that little family. Their bickering is just so cute and sweet!!

My #1 post of 2022

i related to Raven more as a kid first watching EAH, but now that i'm older, hoo boy is Apple surprisingly super relatable. aside from the obvious parental pressures, i can relate to being anxious of going through things without a set plan and especially Apple's struggles with leadership that she goes through in the EAH books. as someone who frequently takes up leadership positions, i find that Apple's leadership style is the same as mine: she keeps a cool head and a cheery personality for the people as well as uses words and confers with people to find a middle ground as opposed to using intimidation to assert dominance and control. like man, i can understand panicking when people look to you for answers but for once you don't have them even though usually you know what to say.

in Dragon Games in particular, i can definitely relate to the contrast in values between Apple and Snow; it's exactly the kind between me and my own mother. Snow cares more about keeping up appearances and the family reputation than actually serving the people with compassion, the way Apple does. credibility is important, but it shouldn't come at the cost of being dishonest to the people you're leading, imo. in her desperation to salvage her own destiny and the lives of those in Ever After, Apple might not have made the wisest choices or said the nicest things, but you can definitely understand where she's coming from. Apple is such a well-written character.

striker collects destiny's fallen off wing feathers alongside western and snake themed objects.

destiny and kernel love to play dress up. destiny makes fun little concepts for outfits, and kernel gets to be dressed like a Barbie doll in said outfits! striker wants this attention too but he can't bare to admit it.

verosika will pick up striker and/or kernel at random when they're being fussy with or towards her. destiny always giggles about it. striker can absolutely carry verosika, but she keeps grabbing him by the scruff before he gets the chance to fight back.

verosika and destiny joke-fight over striker like divorced parents for the bit. destiny is too scarily good at it, sometimes. "I've had practice." she says.

while kernel and verosika helped destiny come out of her shell, striker was the one to teach her about her imp features. tail language and such. now they gladly hold tails down the street or just if striker has to keep track of her wandering self.

for some reason, destiny has a habit of finding her new partners at their lowest points and starting a relationship from there somehow. she took kernel home from the dumpster that was loo loo land out of pity for this seemingly inanimate hunk of junk, and she felt too bad to leave even someone like striker out on the street. but to be fair, they threatened each other.

yes, kernel annoys vox just as much as he does to striker. no, vox and stiker probably don't get along. let's be real.

kernel played a sort of background protector to destiny when she started dating striker. after a while of seeing him genuinely care for her, he went back to being his fully annoying and silly self. striker is now doing the same thing with vox. they decided he was actually trustworthy when destiny decided to fall asleep on his lap, cause his mechanical body was warm.

yes, bombproof loves destiny. and yes, she loves her new horse child just as mutually. she loves big animals! (clearly)

Best: 'Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse'

The long-awaited sequel to Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse did not disappoint! Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse is a masterpiece in every way: it's visually appealing, has a stellar soundtrack, amazing performances by the cast, a great story, and well-crafted characters. 10/10.

Considered to be writer and director Christopher Nolan's best film to date,  Oppenheimer is, in short, an experience. Like any Marvel movie, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 was a good time. Seeing Rocket in peril got me a little worked up at times. While I'm still not one hundred percent on board with the new Gamora, I enjoyed it and, as always, the soundtrack.

Best: 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem'

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhemwas so much fun! It is honestly the only animated TMNT  film I care to watch due to its animation style and humor (Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were involved, after all). On top of that, it had a great cast, which I'm sure will make the sequels just as successful.

This film was everything I ever wanted and more, and dare I say "sublime"? First of all, its marketing was on point, and not only did it have a great message, but it was also super funny! I am a sucker for biographical films, and BlackBerry, starring Glenn Howerton and Jay Baruchel, is no exception. Although it's a fictional take on the real story of the rise and fall of "CrackBerry," it's a fun ride that ultimately makes me miss BlackBerry. Tetris, starring Taron Egerton, is another biographical film that deserves an honorable mention.

Best: 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves'

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is one of the funniest I've seen this year! I do not play D&D, so I had no real interest in seeing the film, but when Chris Pine is involved, I have to give it a shot. The decoy scene is, by far, the best. Best: 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny'

As a casual Indiana Jones fan, I enjoyed this film. It was a big improvement since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which gave audiences a great story and a great cast, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, John Rhys-Davies, and Karen Allen, reprising their roles. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was no bomb, and I stand by this!

No Hard Feelings was absolutely hilarious and deserves more praise. Given her range, Jennifer Lawrence could have chosen any project and would have been amazing, but I was happy to see her show off her comedy chops again. Worst: 'Ghosted'

Ghosted was a film everyone was excited about, most likely due to Chris Evans being Chris Evans, but it didn't receive the best reviews from critics. Although the action-packed rom-com fell a little flat, it is certainly one of Apple TV+'s more popular films to date, as it is the platform's most-watched film premiere. Its only redeeming qualities are, quite possibly, the Marvel cameos.

Worst: 'Fast X'

Somehow, there are 10 Fast & Furious movies, so it's no surprise that Fast X wasn't necessarily considered a masterpiece. Worst: 'Your Place Or Mine'

Your Place Or Mine was not the worst film to come out of Netflix, but it was obviously not the best (and I'm sure it won't be the last). In a perfect world, it should have worked; we had Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. It would have made for a cute movie, but ultimately, audiences just weren't buying their connection.

You People should have been a great film, given its cast, but it kind of just made people a little uncomfortable, and not in a good way. It had its funny moments but could have been so much more, even with the message it was trying to convey.

Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck,is not Gigli bad, but oh man, it was not good. The film was poorly marketed and, unfortunately, boring to those who did see it, with critics agreeing that it was like a Christopher Nolan knock-off. There, there, Ben.

65 isn't the worst movie to come out of 2023, having received generally positive reviews from audiences compared to critics who found it lacking in originality. If you're in the mood for a sci-fi thriller or Adam Driver, give it a watch, but don't expect too much.

The general consensus between audiences and critics seemed to be that the dancers were great, but the film was once again lacking in plot. While Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek are great, I'm still unsure how  Magic Mike got another sequel.

This is one of those movies you either love or hate, but the remake of the 1990 film seemed to have more haters than admirers. While it has its moments, I think most agree that House Partyshould have been left alone.

I have not written in so long I know. I haven't been motivated and just felt like a loser writing here but I feel like I'm going to miss the memories if I don't speak about them. I went to Portugal with T and it was honestly the best holiday ever, we went to the Algarve and had the most beautiful time and I will never forget it. I went on a jet ski and explored caves, we went out every night and met the most interesting people and made memories I will never forget. It was amazing and I just loved it. I also had my graduation a few days ago and I can't believe I did it. I was literally stressing that I didn't think I was going to graduate and I did it. The last few months have been good, I'm in a really good place right now and I am grateful for everything that's happening I'm just de-motivated and also am enjoying doing nothing but I need to get out of it and start living a little and be less lazy. I also went to Wireless with Cake and I saw 50 Cent live and I also saw DBE and it was just an amazing environment and concerts I've been to. I was singing my heart out and screaming tomorrow Me and Cake are going on a double date and then a Love Island event on Monday and I'm so excited. This is also the most broke I have ever been in my life but it's not that hard, I just have to survive the next 10 days and then I am treating myself to a nice Shien package and that's gonna be it. I cut my hair really short this month and I'm having mixed feelings about it. The first few days I was feeling really not confident and ugly but I'm getting used to it and it's looking better if I style it right. I'm planning to grow out my hair naturally, not dye it and then when it's long year I'm going to dye it all ginger and it's gonna look amazing because it's gonna be on my virgin hair. So I need to just wait and its an end of an era. Hair holds memory that's what I keep seeing and that hair has been through a lot, not going to lie. I didn't want to let go of that hair but that hair just reminds me of a insecure, messy time that I went through with like I, A, S and all of them. I need to just let go and now I have a new destiny and a new rosta which I could never have imagined. I have insta now and TikTok and its actually become really bad because I'm just addicted to TikTok and I need to get off it. I also really want to start going out more and dressing up and going to restaurants, I don't even need to buy a whole meal I just wanna look pretty and have a good night but unfortunately I'm not even allowed or even have friends to do it. T is going Italy for summer and Cake is busy most times. Maybe I need to make a new friend but where will I find her. I'm actually going to manifest a new friend that goes out with me and can always have fun, lets see if it happens Lmao. Anyway Z has also passed his driving and I'm so proud of him. I need to work on my CV and start applying to some teacher roles but like I said I just don't have any motivation and mostly just can't be bothered? That is my mood and I need to snap out of it. I almost forgot to mention that the Barbie movie finally came out and we all went to watch it. It was super cute, on TikTok and online everyone was raving about how it was so emotional but it didn't hit me like that mostly because I'm not a white blonde woman, and it just wasn't emotional for me. It was more funny than anything. Guardians of the Galaxy made me literally cry 6 times during that film so I'm not sure.

'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie addresses Barbie and Oppenheimer's negative impact on his film's box office. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for the seventh film in the long-running action franchise, which earned strong reviews from critics. Despite strong reviews, however, the latest sequel has struggled financially, with excitement around the "Barbenheimer" phenomenon ultimately eclipsing Hunt's latest adventure.

Now, in a recent interview on the Empire Spoiler Specials podcast, McQuarrie addresses Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One's box office defeat at the hands of Barbie and Oppenheimer.

McQuarrie chooses not to focus on his own film's financial shortcomings, but instead expresses his excitement for fellow filmmakers Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan and what the success of their movies means for cinema. Check out McQuarrie's full comment below when asked about the "tsunami" that is Barbenheimer:

“I couldn’t be more delighted. We meant what we said when we went out and bought those tickets. I meant what I said when I went on Twitter – my last ever post on Twitter – and said, ‘Go pink or go home.’ Could not be more thrilled for Margot [Robbie], who I think is an extraordinary talent, a mega-star. And I’m delighted for the validation that the movie gives to that part of Margot that is that mega-star. And I hope the lessons learned from that are applied. Couldn’t be more thrilled for Greta.

“Chris Nolan… you want to talk about between a rock and a hard place? You want to talk about a guy whose movie was a three-plus hour R-rated drama with nudity that leaves you feeling quote-unquote 'devastated’. That’s a tough sell. That’s one helluva marketing strategy. And he won. He called it like Babe Ruth and he won. God bless him. Congratulations. That’s fantastic.

“And it’s a triumph for original movies. It’s a triumph for films that are not sequels. And in the case of Oppenheimer, a drama. What movies used to be all the time. Tom and I just look at each other all the time like, ‘Man, it’s just about quality.’”

Why Barbenheimer Beat Dead Reckoning Part One

When it comes to movies, this year has been an interesting wake-up call for several big-budget action franchises. After disappointing performances from Fast X and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission: Impossible 7's performance strongly suggests that audiences might be craving new things instead of additional installments in long-running franchises.

That being said, Mission: Impossible 7 has been a hit with those who saw it. Unlike Fast X and Indiana Jones 5, the new Cruise film hasn't been really divisive in terms of its quality. Really, then, Mission: Impossible 7's underperformance can seemingly mostly be boiled down to bad timing. The film was only able to play for less than 2 weeks in IMAX, a format that has traditionally been strong for the franchise, before Oppenheimer took over all the screens due to pre-existing agreements.

The lack of premium large format screens was undoubtedly a major blow, but excitement for both Barbie and Oppenheimer was also way higher than really anyone had anticipated. Both films have broken records and shot past projections. In hindsight, clearly, Paramount should have moved Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One's release date, and it may have enjoyed a much more profitable run.'
