You stood tall in front of the massive screen in his office. Videos of a girl in a red and black suit swinging through New York City illuminated your solemn features. At the top of the screen, there were only a few words: Spider-Woman: TERMINATE.
“She keeps coming so close to discovering our New York base,” Dreykov’s accent spread through the dark room. “I can’t have her getting in the way of my work. This is important.”
You nodded, eyes never leaving the screen.
“You will bring her body back to me. She seems to have some sort of abilities, abilities I can use to make you stronger. Better.” His thick hand slithered up your shoulder. “Do you copy?”
“I copy.”
His lips twisted into a sinister smile, his gross breath hot on your cheek. “Always so obedient.” He licked his lips.
He smiled, “You take off…” he glanced at his watch, “right now. I don’t want to see you again until she's dead,” he spat in your ear.
“Yes, sir.”

"Hey! Come back, mister criminal!”
Faint thwips filled the air as Ellie swung past corporate building after corporate building, chasing some burglar who happened to try robbing Delmar’s when she was ordering sandwiches for her and Joel. He would have to wait. She was just lucky she had her suit under her clothes.
He booked it down the sidewalk, cash flying out of the duffle bag, throwing pedestrians to the side as he tried escaping Spider-Woman.
She grunted as she dodged semi-trucks and cars, bikers and typical New York tourists. She almost lost sight of him when he turned a corner, but she could still hear his laboured breathing.
She could sense that he had stopped, under the impression that he had thrown her off his trail. He was resting in an alley up against an apartment building. Climbing to the roof, she perched herself on top as she looked down at him, hands on his knees as he panted.
“Hey, man, I think you forgot this!” She yelled as she dropped next to him. Before he could react, she cocooned him in webbing and left him stuck against the wall.
“You got a pen by any chance?” She asked, to which she had to dodge a ball of spit directed at her head. “Should've guessed.”
She pulled her calculus notebook out of her backpack with one of her good pens and scribbled a note on it:
“This is the one that robbed the bodega. I think you should cut old Delmar a tax break for his troubles.
Love,
Spider-Woman”
She called it into the station and webbed the note to the criminal, webbing his mouth shut too while she was at it.
As she walked out of the alley muttering “all in a day’s work”, she heard the faint pleas of a small child. Letting her heightened senses guide her, she swung until she found the source coming from an open window in a different apartment complex.
She slid the window open far enough to get inside, putting her hands out in front of her when the child noticed her and was frightened.
“No no no! Just your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Woman, not gonna hurt you! I promise,” she said, getting to the little girl's level. The girl’s eyes softened and she seemed to trust Ellie.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt?”
She shook her head, lip trembling. “My sister…please help.”
“Okay, where is she now?”
The little girl pointed outside of her door, “The kitchen.”
Ellie took a deep breath. “Okay, I’m going to go help her. You stay right here, okay? Don’t move.”
Something inside of her told her that something was wrong. She brushes it off as someone else being in danger.
As she creeps out of the child’s room, she surveys her surroundings. It looked like a regular New York apartment, a little messy, but nothing her and Joel’s place hadn't seen. Everything was fine.
Until it wasn't.
She suddenly had difficulty breathing when you jumped from somewhere above and wrapped your legs around her neck, squeezing. You elbowed her head repeatedly.
She grabbed you by your hips and threw you off of her, gasping for breath. Her naivety still told her that you needed help.
Was it her naivety?
“Calm down, lady! I’m trying to help you!” she said, still gasping. She watched the girl scurry past her and over to you. “I thought I said—”
She stopped talking when she saw you hand the girl a twenty, eyes still trained on Spider-Woman.
Once you knew the child was a safe distance away, you attacked. His voice rang in the back of your head. No casualties. No witnesses.
You lunged at her, hands finding her throat.
“Woah, at least take me on a date first,” she remarked as she easily slid out of your grasp, jumping up to the ceiling and latching on. She webbed your left arm to the wall. You let out a grunt of dissatisfaction as you squeezed your fist, a blade coming out of your cuff and slicing through the web. It was installed in all of the Widows’ suits in case of capture.
“Oh. That's pretty cool, honestly,” she said as she dodged a bullet from your pistol, flipping down from the roof. You charged her again, this time taking out her legs and pinning to the ground. You threw a hook right at her jaw, to which she exclaimed “Ow!”, catching the next one with ease. Your eyes widened as she flipped the two of you over, pinning you underneath her.
“Look, I don't want to—”
Before she could finish, you had sent electric currents through your suit, effectively tazing her.
In her incapacitation, you were able to flip over again and pressure your knee against her neck. While she struggled for air, her legs flailed underneath her. She managed to knee you in the stomach, opening up an opportunity to throw you off her. You both stood up, ready to go at it again, both slightly out of breath.
“Are you gonna say something?” Silence. “Can you even talk?”
She lunged forward in an attempt to pull down the mask that covered half of your face, a piece of fabric resting atop the bridge of your nose. Before she could grab it, you grabbed her wrists, locating her web cartridges. You released another electric current, frying them.
She stepped back, trying to shoot webs, but to no avail. That's when she saw the text on the bicep of your suit: WIDOW-893. “Shit!”
You threw a swift kick into her abdomen while she was caught off guard and knocked her down to her knees. Her eyes widened as you threw punches at her face, too dazed to think of blocking. When she finally grabbed your fist, she could feel the blood from her nose leaking through her mask and could taste metal.
“You’re a Widow? Like Nat?”
You struggled to get your hand out of her grasp. Instead, you pushed all your weight forward and landed on top of her chest, pinning her arms.
You reached forward and slid your fingers under the fabric of her mask. She struggled underneath you, but you had her pinned and she wasn't going anywhere.
You basked in her struggle, slowly sliding the mask off her face.
“I was sent to kill you.”
“So you do talk. Wait—”
“And that's what I’m going to do.”
“Please don't take my mask off. Please. Please don't kill me. Oh god, I have so much to live for, please—!”
You slipped her mask off completely to be met with her perfectly curved and soft lips, her delicate green eyes, and her pretty freckles, her auburn hair messy from having it under the mask. Her brows furrowed and she squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for it to happen. When it didn't, she slowly opened one eye, and then the other. She was met with you admiring her face, gaze raking over her features.
Your eyes were wide and seemed slightly glassy, and she couldn't help but wonder why they looked so distant. Why it looked like you were trapped behind them.
She realized you weren't pinning her down anymore. She loosened an arm slowly from underneath you and brought it up to the fabric around your face, gently beginning to tug the mask down.
Your cold grasp on her wrist stopped her. “Don't.”
“Why not?” She whispered.
You tore your gaze away from her, standing up. You turned your back to her.
Looking back at her once more, you said, “Because it will end badly."
You moved to leave through the window, but a thought stopped you briefly
The truth is, you didn't know what to do. It's like you had just gained free will, like she had broken some spell. You had thought you were operating on your own terms until now.
You'd been sent to take out powerful men, some women, usually old, usually established, usually somewhat corrupt. But when you saw the fear in the eyes of a girl your age, your body shocked you back into free will.
Your back still to the girl, you just shook your head and jumped.
She coughed as she pushed herself up off the ground and shoved the mask back down over her face, wondering if she'd ever see you again. If she'd ever find out who you really are.

“This is WIDOW-893,” you said into your comm-link, talking to an obscure agent you'd probably never meet. “I need an extraction. I’m sending you my location now.”
Static sounded in your ear before a harsh male voice began, “Has the mission been completed?”
You elected to ignore the question.
“Has the target been eliminated?”
More silence as you hunted for a place to lay low for a bit.
“Widow, has the target been eliminated?!” The agent’s frustration was palpable in his voice.
You swallowed. “Negative.”
“What do you mean, negative? This mission was of utmost— Sorry? Yes, sir.” Some keyboard clicks. “She can hear you now.”
“893, why wasn't your mission completed?” Dreykov’s invigorated voice droned through the comm. You searched for an excuse that wouldn't get you terminated. Or worse.
“The target seems to have heightened senses. She was able to get the jump on me before I was in position. My identity was almost discovered so I was forced to retreat.”
Dreykov let out a pained sigh. Slowly, he said, “I’m only going to tell you this once, agent, so listen very carefully. You are disposable. The mission must proceed, regardless of your comfort. We can easily terminate you and move on to the next Widow. Copy?”
“I copy.”
“Now, if this happens again, I will have you terminated. You get a pass this time because you're one of the…finer specimens we have. You will not be sent an extraction. You will complete this mission in terminating Spider-Woman. Do not make contact until then,” he said, and you could almost feel his hands slithering up your back and around your neck. “And don't think you're not being watched.”
With that, the connection was severed.

Ellie threw the soggy McDonald’s bag down on the kitchen table as Joel stood at the sink washing dishes.
“Couldn't get sandwiches from Delmar’s. Poor guy got robbed again,” she said as she began digging in the bag for her fries.
Joel turned around to give her a shocked look. “Someone’s gotta look out for the people in this city. Lord knows the cops ain’t doin' much,” he said, shaking his head.
“Well…Spider-Woman looks out for people,” Ellie said, tearing the waters. Joel never really sided with J. Jonah Jameson from that stupid news station, but he was never really for the “vigilante” either.
He sighed. “Look, Ellie…I know you think Spider-Woman is cool and all, and I think it's good that she looks out for the normal people of New York, but I think it's irresponsible. I mean, I’m sure she's got people in her life that love her and she’s puttin’ her life at risk seven days a week,” he said as he dried the dishes and put them away.
“Yeah but,” Ellie said through a mouthful of fries, “If you had that power, wouldn't you be responsible for using it for good?”
“Yes, I suppose. But with great power comes great responsibility, Ellie. And with responsibility comes an immense need for balance. Remember that,” he said, turning to look at her.
Ellie swallowed the last few fries as she took a moment to digest what Joel had said. She gave him a meaningful smile before he turned back around to put the last few dishes away.
She couldn't help but think about your “power”. Was it given to you, or forced on you? How did you become so skilled? You were her age, or at least not far off. She’d never met someone so close to her age who held such a huge responsibility. But was it really a responsibility if you were being forced into it?
She knew she'd probably never come across you again, so there wasn't really a reason to overthink it. Right now, she just wanted to finish her Physics homework and watch The Empire Strikes Back with Jesse.
Tumblr media
Weeks had gone by and every moment plagued your mind with thoughts of Ellie. Or rather, if you had it in yourself to kill her.
Your immense training in Covert Ops was indeed handy for situations like these. You shadowed Ellie almost 24/7. You followed her on her commute to her high school, which you noted to be Midtown. You surveilled her through the cameras you'd planted in all of her classes. You followed her after school to the alley where she'd leave her school stuff and switch to her second life. You climbed from building to building as you followed her web-slinging as closely as possible without being seen. You searched and searched for something to justify it, something to prove she's a bad person and deserves to be terminated. But nothing. Nothing when she helped old ladies carry their groceries inside, or rescue little girls' cats from trees, or stop lecherous men from harassing women on the street. Especially nothing when you spied through her living room window and saw her laughing with her dad every Sunday morning.
Three weeks after your first attempt at termination, you had stumbled across the perfect moment to investigate your target’s bedroom. She was at a field trip to the Museum of Modern Art with her class, and her dad was at work.
Around noon, you whistled as you climbed the stairs to the apartment, smiling softly as you find the right one. You knock for good measure, and when nobody answers you slide two bobby pins out from your hair when to pick the lock. Classic, but it always works.
When you open the door you lock it again from the inside so nothing would seem astray. You feel an uncomfortable, throbbing pain in your chest as you look around at the framed portraits of your target and her dad, lots from when she was young. One of her holding a medal in a soccer jersey. One of them at a planetarium together. One of them with a model dinosaur in the background, a hat atop its head, both of them grinning.
You creep through the hallway, looking for one room in particular. Opening the first door, you enter an office space. You decide it might be useful in gathering intel on her family.
You slide open a drawer of the filing cabinet labelled “records”. There seemed to be two sections, one for her father’s business, and one for their personal records. The latter had significantly less material. You slid out the folders and placed them on the desk, taking a seat in the chair.
The first folder read: ADOPTION RECORDS
You skimmed the papers and deduced that about five years ago, a man named Joel Miller (presumably the target’s father) and a woman named adopted a girl named Ellie Williams, but had fostered her long before that with a woman named Theresa Servopoulos, the word “deceased” in brackets next to her name. Anna Williams, her single mother, died shortly after childbirth and a woman named Marlene took her in. However, Marlene gave her up to a foster home once she hit school age.
Another folder read: MEDICAL RECORDS
Ellie had a long history of optometry visits prior to about two years ago, then they just suddenly stopped. There was nothing else really interesting in her file.
Joel, however, was a different story. Medical records that yellowed and flaked at the edges sat in his file from over 20 years ago. He was admitted for a self inflicted GSW to the head shortly after the death of his daughter, Sarah Miller. He was admitted to a psychiatric ward by request of his brother, Tommy Miller, shortly after.
Another file read: ELLIE’S SCHOOL RECORDS
It was evident that Ellie had excelled in school ever since she had settled in with Joel, specifically in the math and science areas. Her transcripts highlighted a bright 4.0 gpa. She had a bright future.
Now with a name for your target, you decided to search her room to gain some more personal intel. Tucking the files away and closing the drawers, you stalked out of the office and down the hall to what was Ellie’s room (the words “Ellie’s Room!” scrawled on a banner on the door making it painfully easy).
The door creaked slightly when you pushed it open. You were immediately hit with the vague sent of pine and mahogany. Dirty flannels and socks were piled in a corner or sometimes littered around the room. An empty ramen cup sat on her nightstand. Notebooks and textbooks filled with complex calculations sat open on her book. Her blankets were peeled back, revealing astronaut bedsheets. “Cute,” you thought.
The cracked open window let in a nice breeze. The light blue walls were littered in posters, photos, and banners. Next to a lesbian flag above her bed were photos of her and the two friends she was always with. Plastered around her room were covers of comics, something called Savage Starlight. There were silly math reference posters, Star Wars posters, and just about everything you would never expect from a crime fighting vigilante.
Her laptop was left open, and a few clicks and an easy password guess later, the screen unlocked to Ellie’s web browser. Her search history made your brows furrow. You expected to find “How to buy weed NYC” or “porn” at the very least.
Search: Is there more than one Black Widow?
Search: Natasha Romanoff history
Search: The Red Room
Search: Dreykov The Red Room
Search: Dreykov Russia
Search: Black Widow Assassins
Search: Natasha Romanoff Phone Number
She had been researching you. Hell, she hadn't done a very good job by the looks of it. And did she really think The Black Widow’s phone number was public information?
You grabbed a figurine from Ellie’s desk and toyed with it as you took a moment to think. Was it really worth taking the life of an innocent girl just for the sustenance of your organization? Was it even your organization? It's not like you could remember how you got there. It's not like you remembered your family, or your friends, or what it was like to have them… It wasn't so bad if you didn't really have anything to compare it to, right?
A soft pressure around your ankles made you look down. Silky webbing coated your boots.
“Sit down,” her voice came from near the window. You turned as much of your body as you could and watched as Ellie gestured to her desk chair. With no choice but to oblige, you sat. She webbed your arms to the armrests, not taking any chances.
She spun the chair to face her direction and then leaned back against the window.
“What do you want with me?” She inquired, green eyes searing into yours.
“I told you. My mission is to-”
“No. If you were going to kill me, I’d be dead already.” Good point.
You broke eye contact and looked around her room dramatically. “Cute room. I like the flag.”
“Tell me what you want with me,” she said, stalking closer to your chair. “I’m not asking this time.”
“What happened to the ‘friendly neighbourhood Spider-Woman’ I met? Do you rest all your guests like this?” You quipped.
“Yeah? Well, forgive me if I’m not so friendly to the one who tried to kill me, has been stalking me for weeks, and broke into my apartment.”
You roll your eyes.
Her large hand wraps around your jaw, forcing you to look in her eyes.
“Roll your eyes one more time and see what happens,” she growls. “Now tell me.”
You jerk your jaw away and kick her in the stomach, enough time for you to effectively sever the webs around your wrists and ankles.
“Fuck, I forgot about those,” Ellie says under her breath as she webs her bedroom door completely shut and stands in front of the window to block your exit.
“Move,” you demand.
“Nope.”
“Move. Or this won't end well for either of us.”
“Nah, I think I’ll just stay right here ‘till you tell me what you want with me.”
You charged her, attempting to throw her to the side and leap through the window she entered through, but she's stronger. She's like brick as she pushes you back.
“Just let me go. I’ve made up my mind anyways. I’m done with you.”
“No can do. I’m not in the habit of letting pretty girls who try to kill me go so easily,” she said, and you felt your cheeks heating up. She webbed the window shut and sat down in her bed, gesturing to her desk chair again. “Come on. I just want to know what your people want with me. Then you can go, I promise.”
You knew it wouldn't hurt to tell her. You'd have to go on the run from Dreykov anyways. Rip your tracker out and all. So you sat and watched as she reached into a drawer in her nightstand and pulled out a pack of peanut M&Ms.
“Want some?” She asked as she peeled it open. You shook your head and she shrugged. “More for me, then.”
“What do you want to know?” You asked.
“Start from the beginning.”
You cleared your throat. “I was given the mission to find you and-”
“No. I get that part, I’m not stupid. I want to know how this happened to you. And how I can help you out of it."

_______________________________________________
She scrambled over the wall, the gleaming building behind her still dark and quiet as she made off with her stolen goods. Well, it wasn't really stealing if they'd already been stolen in the first place, right? She leapt off the top of the wall, bracing herself for the impact that never came. Her heart stilled as she felt warm arms wrapped around her, but then she glanced up and a wave of relief washed over her when she saw a familiar face. Detective O’Hara looked down at her, his delicious lips curling into a victorious smirk as he held her in his arms. “Got you, gatita.”
He set her down on her feet and twisted her around, slapping the handcuffs onto her wrists and binding her hands behind her back.
“Took you long enough,” X teased him, turning her head back to grin at him. “I was getting bored of winning all the time, Miguel.”
He frowned and tugged on her handcuffs. She yelped as the metal cut into her skin, but he didn't seem too concerned. “That’s ‘detective’ to you.”
X rolled her eyes. “Why so uptight, detective? I thought you missed me. Chasing after me all the time.”
Miguel huffed in irritation, turning her around to lead her to his car. Peter’s eyes widened as they passed by, stunned by the rare sight of X in handcuffs.
“You got her?!” he exclaimed, still not quite believing it. “You actually got her! Yes! Up top!” He held a hand up for Miguel to high-five, but his partner just narrowed his eyes at him and continued guiding his prisoner to the car.
“Hey, Peter!” X greeted him cheerfully, flashing him a warm smile before Miguel shoved her into the backseat. “Glad someone is happy to see me.”
“Oh, believe me,” Peter chuckled, gesturing to Miguel, “no one is happier than Miguel to see you in handcuffs.”
X lowered herself onto the seat and looked up at Miguel, fluttering her eyelashes at him playfully. “Is that true, mi Miguelito?”
He scowled at the unwelcome nickname and placed his hand on the car door, gesturing for her to pull her legs inside. “Get inside.”
“Wait, wait, wait!” she beseeched him, twisting her body around and angling her cuffed hands towards him. “Can you change my handcuffs to the front? This position is kind of uncomfortable.”
Was that really her biggest concern right now? After she’d just made off with a cache of valuable jewels from one of the city’s most celebrated museums? He fixed her with an exasperated look. “No.”
This time it was her turn to huff in irritation. She frowned at his brusque response as she settled into her seat, but then her expression softened and she straightened, arching her back so that her chest stuck out. She tilted her head, letting her dark hair fall over her shoulder, and bit her lip as she let her gaze travel over his body hungrily.
“You know,” she began carefully, finally dragging her eyes back up to his, “if you wanted to see my breasts, all you had to do was ask.” His heart skipped at that, momentarily caught off guard by her declaration. Then he set his thick brows back into a frown and slammed the door shut, trapping her inside. He walked over to the driver’s side and slid into the seat beside Peter.
“So, uh, change of plans,” Peter informed him, glancing down at something on his phone. He set it aside when he’d finished and turned his attention to Miguel, nervous. “Her cell isn’t ready yet, so we’re going to have to hold her at an … intermediate location. Just until tomorrow morning!”
“What? Why can’t we just throw her into an overnight cell?” Miguel argued, prompting a scoff from X.
“Rude!” she called out, offended. Even after she’d just stolen millions of dollars worth of jewellery. He ignored her response, waiting on Peter’s instead. Peter shrugged.
“Full. And besides,” he glanced over his seat at X before turning back to Miguel to give him a knowing look, “Chief doesn’t trust her to stay in the overnight holding cell.” Miguel sighed and rolled his eyes, remembering himself the dozens of times she’d managed to escape from whatever cell they’d locked her up in.
“So where are we keeping her?” he asked. Peter hesitated, shifting in his seat uncomfortably.
“Er, the governor has … kindly provided us with some … accommodations,” he revealed. Miguel ground his teeth together, his frustration growing with every extra second Peter took to respond.
     “What accommodations?!”
He pulled to a stop outside the grand hotel, immediately taking note of the four different guards discreetly keeping watch over their surroundings. “No.”
“Yes!” X cheered from behind him.
“The governor has already provided extra security!” Peter assured Miguel. “So it’s basically like an overnight holding cell! Just … nicer.” X shuffled forward to lean over the seat, excited.
“Yeah! I’ll stay in it! I promise!” she pleaded. She twisted her lips into a pout and fluttered her eyelashes up at him. “Please, Miguel? I mean, Detective O’Hara?”
Mierda, he couldn’t decide which one was worse: the intimacy of having her know his first name or the seductive way she’d always pronounce his title. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, thinking. Though there was nothing much he could think about - it was the governor, after all, and he was just a detective. Never mind that he was the best damn detective in the entire country. Unfairly attractive criminal in the backseat who continued to evade his grasp aside. He sighed, slumping over in defeat.
“Fine,” he relented. “But we’re not giving her her own suite!”
“I get a suite?!” X exclaimed, her excitement continuing to grow by the second. Miguel twisted around to scowl at her.
“We get a suite,” he corrected. X let out a dramatic gasp.
“Detective! How presumptuous of you!” she joked, fixing him with a wicked grin as she said it. Miguel felt his stomach flip at her look, but he swallowed it down quickly.
“I’m the presumptuous one?” Miguel retorted, raising an eyebrow at the devious expression on her face. X continued to smile at him, everything she’d like to do to him once they were alone running across her unnecessarily pretty face. Miguel let out another weary sigh and turned back to the steering wheel. It was going to be a long night.
Her eyes widened in wonder as she walked into the room, taking in their lavish surroundings.
“Wow!” X breathed, turning back around to face Miguel. “Is this, like, the governor’s personal suite or something?” Miguel folded his arms across his chest, refusing to respond as he silently grumbled over the predicament they’d ended up in. What was the Chief thinking, letting the governor keep their most wanted criminal in a fancy hotel room like she was some VIP guest or something?! X ignored his sour mood and continued her exploration of the large suite.
     “Where’s Peter staying?”
“Detective Parker is staying right next door,” Miguel warned her, marching over to her and towering over her with his intimidating form. “And there are guards posted all the way down this corridor. And throughout the building. So don’t try anything.”
She looked up at him, her dark eyes running across his body appreciatively. Then she pulled her gaze back up to his, her lips curling into a smirk as she did so. “With you around, Detective? How could I not?”
Miguel sighed and let his hands fall to his sides as he suddenly realised how tired he was. “Just go to sleep, gatita.”
“With these on?” X gestured to her handcuffs, looking up at him in question. He fixed her with a suspicious look and she grinned.
“What? Are you gonna cuff me to the bed?” She took a step closer to him then stretched onto the balls of her feet so she could murmur in his ear. “How do I know you won’t take advantage of me while I’m asleep, detective?”
He sucked in a breath as she pressed her lips to his neck, his eyelids fluttering shut at the feeling of them brushing along his skin. Why couldn’t he move? Why wasn’t he trying to stop her? 'Because it feels nice', a little voice responded in the back of his head - having her soft lips travelling down his neck, the little moans falling from her mouth as she pressed her body against his. He swallowed hard, trying to regain control of his thoughts.
“I think I should be the one asking you that question.” His voice was low, thick, and she giggled at the sound of it before nipping at his collarbone. He flinched and she turned around, wiggling her hands at him and silently asking him to release her.
“Should we find out?” she challenged him. He clenched his jaw, his thoughts a jumble of protests against the desperation rapidly building in his body. Would she do more, if he took the cuffs off? Did he want her to do more? She was a criminal though, a thief - the antithesis to everything he stood for. And yet … He reached into his pocket and took out the key, undoing her handcuffs.
“Finally!” X rubbed her wrists, relieved, then she turned around to slide her hands up his chest before wrapping them around his neck and pressing her body against his. “So. How should we take advantage of this big, empty suite, mi Miguelito?” She leaned forward to brush her lips against the base of his ear and her hands glided back down his torso again. She stopped when she reached the hem of his shirt, her fingers curling around it as her lips continued to make their way down his neck.
“Should we test out the shower?” she suggested, her voice low and seductive. She pulled back to gauge his response, her fingernails tickling his abdomen lightly before she hooked her fingers around his belt and tugged on it.
“Gatita …” Miguel began softly, taking hold of her hands and guiding them back to her sides. “You can go take a shower. I’ll keep watch.” X bit her lip, the ends curling with mischief.
“Mmm. But joining would be so much more fun than watching,” she pointed out, gaze still fixed on his. “Right, detective?”
Miguel curled his fingers into fists, trying hard not to think about what it would be like, watching her undress and get in the shower. And then joining her himself, his hands running all over her curvy little body as he- Ay, coño, he had to stop thinking about her like that: she was a goddamned criminal, ¡por amor de Dios! (For the love of God!)
X tapped a finger on her lips, not missing the way his eyes roved over her body before he realised what he’d been doing and pulled them away from her entirely. So, he was interested - enough that she might finally be able to get what she really wanted from him. She reached up and began pulling down the zip of her jacket, her eyes remaining fixed on his face as she tilted her head thoughtfully. Miguel glanced up at her briefly, then looked away, shifting uncomfortably in position. “What are you doing?”
She shrugged her jacket off and tossed it onto the bed before pulling down her tights and kicking those aside as well. “I can’t take a shower in my clothes, can I?”
Miguel turned his head to the side, doing his best to avoid looking at her as she continued to strip in front of him. What the hell did she think she was doing, exposing her smooth skin and her toned thighs and her- f*ck!
“Yes, but … You can’t take a shower out here, either,” he pointed out to her, his mind yelling at him to get her to stop. Even as his body begged for him to tell her to keep going. “Can you?”
She took a step closer to him again, clad only in her underwear now, and hooked a finger around the collar of his shirt, tugging him closer to her.
“¿Qué pasa, mi Miguelito?” X asked, a hint of laughter in her voice. “Why so nervous, detective? Cat got your tongue?” She stretched onto her toes and flicked her tongue out, licking his lips before lowering herself back down again. Miguel felt his entire body tighten in response.
“I’m not nervous,” he mumbled, turning his face away from hers again, his heart racing in anticipation of what he knew she was trying to do. X dropped her hands down to the hem of his shirt, pulling on it playfully.
“Then? Come watch me while I shower, mi Miguelito.” She snuck her hands beneath his shirt, sucking in a breath when she felt his hard muscles beneath her palms. She took another step towards him, sliding her hands around his waist and up his back so she could drag her fingernails across his skin. “You wouldn’t want me to try to run away from you again. Would you?”
She stretched up and pressed her lips to his collarbone, groaning against him so that the vibrations danced along his body down to his core. “¿Mi Miguelito?”
Ay, coño, she felt good - much too good - pressed against him like this, her nails scratching his back lightly, her lips murmuring his name so possessively. He clenched his fists, trying to stop himself from touching her. “Gatita …”
“Mmm. ¿Si, Miguel?” X lowered herself to her feet and hiked his shirt up. And for some damn reason he couldn't - didn't want to - explain, he raised his arms, letting her slip it off entirely. She tossed it aside, then bit her lip when he was bare before her, his tanned skin glinting under the light.
“Mmm, shit, Miguel,” she began, tracing her finger over the defined lines of his muscles. “You're so frickin’ hot.”
She let her finger drift lower and lower down his hard abdomen, then hooked it around the waistband of his pants, peeking up at him to give him a suggestive look. He gulped and she grinned. “Too bad you have to be such a goody-two-shoes.”
Miguel gritted his teeth to stop himself from responding, from indulging her highly inappropriate behaviour. But it was a little too late for that, wasn't it? X ignored the tension in his body and began undoing his belt, taking her time to unbuckle it before unbuttoning and unzipping his pants.
“Come on, Miguel. Don't you want to take a shower too? You've got to be at least as sweaty as I am,” she teased him, stretching up again to brush her lips along his jaw. “At least as dirty?” She nipped him playfully, then grabbed hold of his waistband to start tugging his pants off. He placed a hand over hers, stopping her, and she looked up at him in confusion.
“I am nothing like you, gatita,” he told her, his tone harsh. X frowned, pushing out her rosy lips in a pout.
“Why don't you ever say my name, Miguel?”
The muscles in his jaw worked as he straightened and took a step back from her. “Because you're a criminal.”
“Criminals have names too, detective,” she informed him, still using that exaggeratedly upset tone. “Or did you forget that when you reached that moral high ground you're always standing on?”
He scowled at her. Por Dios, why did she have to be so infuriating?! He wasn't on some moral high ground - he was on the appropriate level of morality; the most basic level. And he'd worked hard to get everything he had: working by day to look after his brother while his mother spent her days on drink and her nights on men. And then studying at night so he could achieve the barest level of qualifications, enough to get a stable, full-time job that would allow him to create opportunities for his brother that he'd never had. He was nothing like her, taking the easy way out, stealing from those who had put in the work to get what they wanted. But why should he waste time explaining that to someone who clearly didn't care? He fixed her with a glare as he zipped his pants back up and bent over to retrieve his shirt. But then X stepped in front of him, placing her hands on his chest to stop him.
“Wait!” X chewed on her lip, suddenly nervous - she was losing him. But she didn't want to lose him, this man who drove her mad with his black and white morals and his cute little smirk and the way he knew her so much more intimately than anyone in her life had ever bothered to get to know her. Sure it had all been because he was trying to catch her, but … she could hope, couldn't she? That somewhere along the way, sometime during the days and months that they'd been running after one another, she might have stolen his heart as well? In just the way he'd stolen hers? She swivelled around and swept her hair over her shoulder, twisting her head back to glance at him. “Could you at least help me get my bra?”
What game was she playing now, making herself seem all vulnerable in front of him? It was all just an act, he knew, but for what? Sex? There was nothing valuable in that - not for her, anyway. But for him? To become so intimately acquainted with this woman who drove him mad? Who took over his every waking thought with her incredible talents and her clever words and her sparkling smile? Who did remind him of himself, at times, pushing herself to her limits to snatch the opportunities she'd been denied since the moment she'd been born? If only there was some way he could have helped her, could have guided her to use her skills for good, fighting crime alongside him. But those were just the hands they'd been dealt. All they could do now was play them. His hands found their way to her waist, his finger curling around her smooth skin as he tried to decide how far he really wanted to take this.
“If you can put it on, you can take it off,” he told her, tone resolute despite the tapping of his fingers against her skin. She grinned at his weakening resolve, her stomach flipping at the familiar woodsy scent of him.
“And who says I put it on myself?” He tightened his grip on her.
“Who put it on?” And that was his next mistake: the pure jealousy radiating through his voice. Here he was, driving himself crazy trying to figure out how he really felt about her, and there she was having the time of her life with God knew how many other men.
“I'll tell you if you take it off,” she promised. He was jealous, he was so jealous. So he must have felt something for her, right? Begrudgingly as he did. She heard him take a deep breath behind her before he let his hands fall away from her waist. Then he reached up, hesitating at the clasp of her bra as he thought about it. Finally, he took hold of it and undid it. She twisted her arms behind her back and grabbed onto his forearms immediately, guiding them around to her front and sucking in a breath at the feeling of his large hands closing around her breasts.
“F*ck,” he muttered, his fingers squeezing and stroking her as he familiarised himself with her body. She was so soft, unfairly so, and he was curious now to find out what the rest of her would feel like against him.
“Of course I put it on,” she revealed to him, her tone incredulous. Then she leaned back against his chest, one arm reaching around his neck to guide his mouth to her shoulder. She sighed as he started brushing his lips along her bare skin, his fingers still teasing her as they explored her soft curves. "You think I'd ever let another man touch me? ¿Mi Miguelito?"
Her voice was low as she said it, her fingers burying themselves in his hair as he ran his hands along her body, and he felt a spurt of victory at the words. She could have any man she wanted - if she wanted. But she didn't; she just wanted him. “Mmm, gatita.”
She shivered at the feeling of his low voice rumbling along her bones and her head fell to the side as he licked a line up her neck, giving him more space to taste her. “M-Miguel …”
He chuckled at the helplessness in her tone and moved his hands lower down her body, his fingernails scratching the base of her abdomen lightly. “Where's that smart mouth of yours now, gatita?”
“Where do you want it to be?” she retorted quickly, drawing a growl out of him in response.
“Joder,” he swore, his long fingers tangling in the waistband of her underwear before pulling it off and letting it fall down her legs. She squeaked in surprise as he squeezed her bare ass in her hands then pushed her towards one of the beds, tapping her on the ass playfully to move her along. “On the bed, gatita. Hands and knees.”
“Already?” She grinned as she climbed onto the bed, getting into position and wriggling her butt at him teasingly. “I didn't know you could move this quickly, detective.”
He pulled down his trousers and underwear, kicking them off before grabbing onto her thighs and spreading them apart a little more.
“Callate, gatita,” he sighed before pressing his mouth into her folds and licking a line up the centre. (Shut up, kitten.) She shivered as he groaned against her, her torso collapsing onto the bed from the sheer pleasure of it all, and he pushed his mouth deeper into her folds, his tongue slithering along her p*ssy. She whimpered as he paused occasionally to press soft kisses along her length, her legs twitching whenever his lips brushed against her clit. “Sabes … muy deliciosa, gatita.” (You taste ... so delicious, kitten.)
He dug his fingers into her ass, then pulled back slightly to admire how helpless she was beneath him right now. Then finally, “X.”
“Oh, shit!” She'd never heard him call her by her name before - it would have been too personal for him, she supposed; made him see her as a real life human being with her own baggage instead of a common thief. But holy shit, it sounded good, hearing him take the time to form the letters of her name in his mouth - it was like her name had been made just for him.
“¿Qué pasa, gatita?” he asked when she said nothing more, just continued to whimper and moan beneath him. “Cat got your tongue?” He pulled her folds into his mouth and sucked hard on them before releasing them again, adding his own saliva to the c*m already leaking out of her to lubricate her more. Then he let out another satisfied groan and she shuddered again at the feeling of his deep voice rumbling against her p*ssy, the vibrations racing to her core and adding onto the waves of pleasure rolling through her. She struggled to push herself back up to her hands.
“M-Miguel … Faster …” He chuckled at her request and another violent shudder wracked her body, causing her to fall over again.
“I'm in charge tonight, gatita,” he reminded her. “X.” She moaned loudly at the sound of her name in his voice and he gave her a last hard suck before turning over and sliding up the bed. He settled back on the pillows, then grabbed onto her thighs, tugging her towards him.
“Ven aquí, gatita,” he commanded her. (Come here, kitten.) She nodded, dazed with arousal, and shuffled forward so that her hips were over his face.
“Sí, Detective,” she obliged, prompting a low groan to escape his chest.
“¡Ay, coño, gatita!” he chastised her, pulling her down onto his mouth and mumbling against her. “No … No digas eso.” (Don't say that.) He closed his mouth around her, licking and sucking on her slowly, taking his time drinking her up. She whimpered as he began prodding at her entrance, circling his tongue around it slowly before tickling the edges. And then he plunged his tongue into her, and she had to grab onto the bed frame to try to maintain her balance, her body sinking down onto his mouth in pleasure. He dug his fingers into her ass, grinding her against his mouth as he lapped at her walls with his tongue, his nose nudging against her clit every time he moved his head. She moaned as her legs began to twitch, unable to contain herself any longer, then she cracked, her body wriggling and squirming against his mouth as she came into it. He let out a delighted groan and held her there for a moment longer, making sure to drink up every last drop of her sweet c*m. Then he released her and pushed himself up against the headboard, allowing her to collapse onto his chest.

In Love With The Same Cat
➥ summary : There’s no Spider-Man without the Black Cat just like there’s no Black Cat without Spider-Man. But what if we had a multiverse dimensional traveling jewelry stealing burglar Black Cat (try saying that seven times fast aye) that traveled across dimensions not only stealing the worlds finest jewels but also the hearts of four unlucky, or lucky depending on how you see it Spider-Man’s and Spider-Women’s hearts.
➥ 3: Seeking Redemption, Not Revenge
Tumblr media
Months of tireless training in martial arts and acrobatics had transformed (y/n) into a formidable force to be reckoned with. She had honed her skills and mastered her body, mentally preparing herself for a confrontation that would serve as the ultimate test of her newfound strength.
As (y/n) delved deeper into her mission, her initial mindset of seeking revenge began to shift. Revenge, she realized, was a dark path that could consume her soul and perpetuate a cycle of violence. Instead, she resolved to use this confrontation to reclaim her power and seek a form of redemption for the pain inflicted upon her.
After tirelessly scouring the city, (y/n) finally found a lead that would point her in the direction of Blake, the college guy who had assaulted her that fateful night. It was a trail speckled with danger, but she was no stranger to adversity. With her heart pounding and her determination unwavering, she embarked on this treacherous journey, armed not only with physical prowess but also the strength of her spirit.
When she finally located Blake, (y/n) discovered a man plagued by demons of his own, existing in a world of self-destruction and regret. It was a sobering sight, one that stirred empathy within her. As anger simmered within her veins, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of sorrow for what he had become.
Drawing deep from the well of her newfound strength, she stepped out of the shadows to confront her assaulter. Blake's eyes met hers, and for a brief moment, time stood still. In that charged silence, (y/n) measured his every move, her training guiding her like an invisible hand.
But instead of lashing out with a fury fueled by revenge, (y/n) chose a different path. She embraced forgiveness, recognizing that it was not weakness, but rather a testament to her own strength.
She looked into Blake's eyes and spoke words that echoed with both pain and resilience. "I refuse to let your actions consume me any longer. I've come here not to take your life, but to claim back mine." Her voice trembled, yet carried an inescapable conviction.
Tears streamed down Blake's face as he finally comprehended the gravity of his actions. He wanted to beg for forgiveness, to find redemption for the pain he had caused. But (y/n) knew that the burden he carried was his alone to bear.
With her head held high, (y/n) turned away from Blake, leaving him in the haunted labyrinth of his own remorse. Redemption, she realized, was a personal journey that required an individual to face their demons, seek amends, and make peace with their past—a journey in which she had no power to escort him.
As (y/n) walked away, she could feel the weight of her past beginning to lift. She wasn't just a survivor anymore; she was a warrior who had triumphed over darkness. The scars on her body were now a testament to her strength, resilience, and reclamation of her identity.
From that point forward, (y/n) dedicated herself to helping others navigate the complex path of healing after trauma. She became an advocate, breaking the cycle of sexual assault, and transforming her pain into a catalyst for change.
In the wake of that confrontation, (y/n) found peace within herself—a peace crafted from the shards of her shattered innocence. She understood that revenge would only breed more anguish, but by choosing forgiveness and reclaiming her power, she had transcended the confines of victimhood.
In the annals of (y/n)'s journey, Chapter 3 marked a significant turning point. It was a chapter that showcased not only her physical growth but, more importantly, her emotional evolution. She learned that true strength resided in rising above the urge for revenge, embracing forgiveness, and forging a new path filled with healing, understanding, and compassion.

Catwoman: Burglar of Hearts by Jade Gretz
Gotham nights thrummed with a symphony of discord. Sirens warbled, car horns moaned, and beneath it all, the city's very fabric pulsed with a restless heartbeat. Catwoman, perched on a gargoyle overlooking the snarled traffic, felt the rhythm in her bones. But tonight, a new melody wove its way into the familiar chaos, a wisp of sound like cobwebs on the wind.
It was a whisper, barely audible, yet sharp enough to prickle the hairs on her neck. It came from the labyrinthine alleys below, twisting through the shadows like a lost cat searching for home. Curiosity, that feline itch she could never quite scratch, propelled her down.
The alley, choked with overflowing dumpsters and graffiti murals depicting monstrous nightmares, felt different tonight. The air here hummed, not with the city's usual electric tension, but with a spectral chill. The whisper, louder now, seemed to guide her, beckoning her deeper into the fetid maze.
She traced the sound to a boarded-up storefront, its cracked windows like blind eyes staring into the gloom. A name faded above the doorway: "Madame LeClair's Parlor of Whispers." Catwoman chuckled, a low, throaty sound that echoed eerily in the stillness. A fortune teller's den swallowed by the city's belly, another forgotten relic in Gotham's museum of decay.
But something about the abandoned parlor gnawed at her. The whisper, now insistent, emanated from within, a mournful symphony woven from secrets and regrets. Cautiously, she pried open a boarded window, a moonbeam slicing through the dust like a celestial scalpel.
Inside, the air hung heavy with a cloying sweetness, the scent of long-dead incense and forgotten dreams. Cobwebs draped the velvet curtains, and moth-eaten tarot cards lay scattered on the floor like fallen leaves. The whispers coalesced around her, forming words, a tale of betrayal and vengeance whispered from beyond the veil.
An ethereal form shimmered into existence: a woman, draped in shimmering silk, her face veiled in shadow. Her eyes, though, burned with an unnatural luminescence, pools of sorrow and rage. "Help me," she pleaded, her voice a ghostly echo. " …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). {Disclaimer: this is fan-made, fan fiction and I don't own black cat at all this is just a "what if" of character scenario}
In Earth-42, there is no spiderman to protect the city of Brooklyn.
Only chaos and crime, however there is one superhero though.
Black cat, unlike other realities of Black Cat, this one became a superhero.
Felicia García, is a down to earth and gothic teenage girl in Brooklyn.
In this universe she attends to Brooklyn Visons Academy like Miles.
Felicia is the daughter of Lydia Hardy & Andrés García.
Lydia Hardy was the black cat burglar ever since she was a young adult but as time went by she fell in love with police officer Andrés García.
Lydia Hardy ended up giving up her life of the Black Cat to be with Andrés.
She revealed to him she was the burglar but wanted to change her ways, if he'll have her.
Andrés embraced her and accepted her, even if she did crimes.
He knew she had a good heart, they both ended up having two children.

Tom and Maddie's Announcement [part 1]
OK... I'm not sure if anyone has already done this, I can't get it out of my head so I am doing it RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW BABY
-
It was a pretty hectic Friday afternoon, and it all begun with Tom getting an urgent call from his wife Maddie. Beforehand, she had complained about feeling sick for the past several days. Maddie being who she is that didn't stop her from going to work every single day... even if she did spend a lot of her shift in the restroom. The final straw was when she had fainted while talking to a client about their furry companion's condition. The persistence of her friends convinced her to get checked out at her primary doctor. After running a few tests, checking her blood pressure, and so forth. After asking her some personal health questions, "Hm, have you taken a pregnancy test?" Maddie was floored that the doctor even asked that... oh, well.. it sorta does make sense now. After agreeing to take a test, and she received the results maybe not even 10 minutes later... this was when she called Tom.
Tom was a hot mess when he rushed to the room Maddie was in. "Wait, what... pregnant?! A-are you sure?"
The doctor calmly nodded, "your wife is possibly... 3 weeks pregnant. But, we can't assume until we do a ultrasound."
Tom honestly wasn't quite sure how to feel at the moment. Nervous? Scared? About to puke? Yeah, most likely the third. The couple never really talked about having children... Sonic kind of filled that role. But, it was actually happening! In about an hour of waiting, they were guided to another room where the ultrasound would indeed prove she was pregnant! The doctor scheduled a follow up with Maddie, so they can keep an eye on the baby's growth, and Maddie's health. She was recommended that she would need to take more vitamins, start avoiding certain beverages, and different types of food.
Before going inside their home, Maddie and Tom embraced each other. Maddie could sense the uncertainty Tom was feeling. “Hey, we handled a talking 3 foot tall hedgehog, and a crazy Egghead, I'm sure we can handle parenthood." Tom scoffed in amusement, then the couple shared a kiss.
When they went to unlock the front door, they noticed it was already unlocked. Tom went in first, it better be Sonic. But he has been told numerous times unless they are home to not leave the door unlocked. (Not that it would prevent Eggman...) When they came in the kitchen they found Sonic searching through the fridge. "If it's a burglar I got Maddie's broccoli casserole, and I'm not afraid to use it!" Sonic threatened, his head still deep in the fridge, before glancing over his shoulder.
Maddie crossed her arms, beside her Tom stifled a laugh. "Sonic. Haven't we told you to lock the door when we weren't home?"
"Uh... yeah." Sonic rubbed the back of his head, ashamed. He hopped on the countertop, and opened a covered dish that had Maddie's well-loved dessert and helped himself to a big spoonful. Sonic couldn't recall the name of it but it had layers of chocolate mousse, cool whip, and oreo cookie crumbs. He licked his lips as the couple quickly took the dish, and the spoon away from him. His ears dropped in disappointment. "Where ya'll been, anyway?" He jumped off the counter. Glancing around the kitchen, the hedgehog was still starving.
Tom and Maddie had just discovered they were gonna have a baby together, they had no preparation to tell Sonic the big news. Maddie had always imagined a cute Pinterest board baby announcement... however, life took them by surprise so they had to improvise. The couple looked at one another, "Say Sonic, you wanna go out to eat for dinner?" She could tell Sonic wasn't gonna listen or be still enough until he appeased his hunger. The hedgehog piped up in excitement.
-
Years ago, Tom and Maddie couldn't really have Sonic with them in a public restaurant, today, Greenhill welcomed Sonic warmly. Being a smaller town helped a lot too. They've been to bigger cities, but for Sonic's sake they rather avoid too many unfamiliar faces.
As usual, Sonic had ordered chili dogs with their huge steak fries. Tom did his best by choosing a healthier option to support Maddie. Not that Maddie minded, she honestly wasn't sure if she could handle the food she had chosen. Not much was spoken between the three, except small talk. While Tom and Sonic spoke, Maddie was brainstorming on how to tell Sonic. Why was she more nervous about telling him over Tom? She assumed that it was because Sonic was less predictable than Tom was. Tom kept glancing over at Maddie, waiting for a signal or something. Nothing. He cleared his throat; Maddie nudged him and shook her head. "Are you all done, Sonic? I have to get some shopping done before too late." Sonic groaned. He hated shopping. Especially if he couldn't get something super cool that he wanted. The bill was paid, and they left the restaurant behind. Once they hopped in the vehicle, Maddie mentioned the mall. Which was probably half an hour away. It wasn't the greatest mall, but it was loved by so many, and slowly more and more stores started popping up. "How about you two check out the arcade?" Maddie told the boys, before they knew it Sonic darted towards the entrance.
"I thought we were gonna tell him?" Tom whispered, the couple walking towards the entrance of the arcade, still keeping an eye on the hyper hedgehog.
"We will. I have an idea." Maddie kissed his cheek. "Now, make sure he doesn't break anything.."
-
Maddie was relieved to see that the custom t-shirt shop was still open at this hour. When she saw the gentleman come out from the back of the shop, she approached the counter. He politely welcomed her. "What can I do for you, Ma'am?" Maddie quickly scrolled on her phone, opening her Pinterest app, and showed him an image.
"Could you customize a shirt like this?" The image displayed a white shirt with "Big Bro" in bold letters and a special request to make sure it'll fit Sonic okay.
"Dare I say congratulations? This shouldn't be any problem at all. Anything else?" Maddie thought about a bandana for Ozzie, unfortunately he didn't have any in stock but advised her to order one online. While she waited for him to finish the custom shirt, she searched the store. After it was done, he laid the shirt on the counter to make sure that it was to her satisfaction. She paid, while he folded the shirt and put it in a box for her per request, and handed it to her. "I hope to see you again, Maddie." She departed the store to find the boys.
-
When she entered the arcade, she was slightly overwhelmed by the lights and sounds. Deeper in the arcade she found Tom and Sonic playing a racing game. Figures. Poor Sonic had to stand up, awkwardly trying to steer, shift gear, and reach the gas pedal. He was trying so hard. Unfortunately, the time drew to the end of their session of the game. Neither winning 1st place. "That game was totally rigged." Tom acclaimed. Sonic started looking around for more games to play. Unfortunately they were down to 2 tokens to play with. "Hey bud, how about you try to get a prize out of that crane game over there?" Tom and Maddie spoke quietly while he tried his luck on the machine in the corner. Sonic walked away with weird fidget toy, which he ended up giving away to a random kid in the store.
The Wachowski's arrived home after getting some snow cones. Maddie and Tom changed into their pajama's for the night. It was movie night, and Tom's night to pick. However, before the movie... they needed to have a talk. Sonic was sharing the rest of his snow cone with Ozzie while Tom selected the movie. Maddie joined them on the couch. She laid the box beside Sonic. "I got you a little something today, Sonic." The blue hedgehog looked at the box, confused. It wasn't his birthday, right? Even though he was confused by the sudden gift, like always he didn't waste anytime opening it. Inside was tissue paper, folded up nicely. Soon, he realized it was a shirt. Not much of a shirt kind of guy.. but oh well, it was from Maddie so he's happy with it nonetheless. "What's it say?" Maddie anxiously waiting as his expression changed.
"Huh?" Sonic read the front of the shirt, confusion clear on his face.
Tom moved closer to Maddie, his hand resting on her thigh. Maddie smiled, and placed her hand on Sonic's. "We're expecting-"
"Expecting what?"
"A baby, Sonic."
His mouth formed a small o as it dawned on him, that Maddie was indeed pregnant.
"You're gonna be a big brother, Sonic."

If there's anything that A Burglar's Guide to the City has taught me it's that crime and architecture are so erotic and sensual it's unreal.

Replenishing the Nonfiction Stack; or, We're Calling the Book Buying Ban a Wash, Officially.
I am not, apparently, immune to coupons for niche nonfiction that's directly up my alley (octopus minds and RUSSIAN OWLS, hello??? Thanks, bookshop!).
I thought perhaps the BURGLAR'S GUIDE would also be covered under said coupon, since it was publisher-specific (alas: it was Not, but we might as well bundle for shipping purposes). And then while I was shopping IRL for gifties I found a copy of ROOM, which has been on my list for...ever? So! Hopefully these will hold me over on the nonfiction front for a minute!

I am thinking about a burglars guide to the city / tschumi spatial experiments and I wish there were like... terms I knew for this kind of analysis in player-built virtual spaces (ie, minecraft. but also VR) because the handy language is of fandom, and that's not what I need. I mean I'd like to talk about builds as spaces - but also the language of visual is only three dimensions, and I want to talk about space in four, space in sequence. I am not being clear here.
I'm thinking of that if tschumi's point as widened by manaugh is that misuse of architecture is perhaps more revealing of its nature or at least as essential to understanding its nature as its "intended" usages (setting aside how thorny intended use definitions are) then this maps funnily onto cocreated virtual space. IE a shopping district. Not to bring up simulacra and simulacrum but there's a whole bunch in there I cannot touch about representation and games (which is theater! magic circles) but what I'm trying to work toward is acknowledging that real-world awareness of use of space does apply to considering use/misuse of digital architecture BUT not because I am trying to map them as being equivalent but because real people adapt those norms to virtual space and in the translation things necessarily change.
anyway I still haven't got to my example which is vault-breaking. destruction is not the kind of misuse manaugh is typically talking about, partially because it's harder in real life than subversion. the opposite is true in vanilla minecraft, but minecraft is a game people engage in and create architecture (builds) often with express or subtextual intent for the possibility of misuse. or the competing interests of design/simulation/artifice create opportunities for real subversion like secret bases inside megabases; irl enormous facilities can have the same weaknesses but they also tend to have physical and human and digital infrastructures that are able to be subverted rather than empty space to fill in secret.
and about the VAULTS which was my point. there's usually a gentleman's agreement NOT to break blocks and in fact adventure maps should go here but that is more game than theater (which. Is games). you make explicit the irl conditions you're imperfectly simulating, but they're always kind of weird or engineered a little or wildly clever because if you want a service entrance to exploit the owner/builder had to put it in, and most people don't. the other option is, if you're not breaking in but doing other kinds of "criminal" (shorthand for the book's context irl) activity you can literally just dig a little deeper. I don't think I've figured much out by writing it but I was encouraged and have been rotating this in my brain and I want. To be able to explain the shapes of the ideas I keep spinning

treading away from the shores limits & into camp , valora crossed the distance toward serana's tent with a clear motive . she hadn't even taken the time to dress herself properly or dry off , simply unable to wait to see her . " serana , " the name rolled off the tongue clearly , confidently as she made her approach . with very little context and no desire to provide any , valora immediately reached out to grasp one of the other's hands so she could lay a gift onto her palm . it was a pearl ... freshly plucked from a deep sea clam ( no clams were harmed , worry not ). the colour was vibrant , a shimmering moonlight similar to wyrm's iris'. undoubtedly it was special in some way , but valora chose not to divulge it's magical properties for now . instead , she simply nodded and pushed serana's hands away as an invitation for her to look at the pearl . " this is for you . " - @marewyrm
Tumblr media
a day's walk and they'd arrive at the great city. lights dance off on the horizon , the team having made camp so that they could finally get a full night's rest now that they'd CRAWLED from the shadowed lands with their limbs all in tact. it was something they all deserved. and the undead had both taken their polite leave , free now to feed upon the unsuspecting burglar or bandit. whichever ilk met their fancy. suffice to say that , by the time valora makes it to serana's tent , she is perched , full and gleaming , on a satin pillow admiring the night of stars.
there's little expression on her face when she notes valora making her way over. rather bare. and dripping. almost as if it had been a state she'd become used to in one way or another. all that can be seen is a small glimmer behind her eyes. the way her cheek tightens into a smile ──── one that widens the closer she gets. her hands are given with no resistance and when she's allowed to take a peek , pale hand gives way to the luminescent gift she'd been given. such a delicate thing , a pearl. " it's beautiful , " her words drip with emotion. few times has she been given anything. the pearl is brought up close to her eyes so she could inspect the spherical gem , the way the moonlight danced on the lustrous surface. " we should find a jeweler in the city , " the vampire muses , wrapping her fingers back around her gift , and using her other free hand to reach out to valora and cup her face. guiding it close. " thank you. " lips press a soft kiss to the wyrm's own lips , tasting the sea that still lingered in droplets caught in the corners of her mouth. once they break , she's unable to stop herself from chuckling , " if you're done with your swim why don't you come in and rest for the evening , hm ? i have no objections , but surely you know how nervous that makes some of our present company.
