The Dutton saga continues to be fleshed out.
As Costner winds down the mothership, we now get the second prequel focusing on the Duttons 40 years after their arrival in Montana.
Tumblr media
With command turns from Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. More lineage than expected gets brought up as we see the family go through the roaring 20’s, though stages of what would come for the rest of the country would be taking root.
Now we see what the 50s would be for the ranch.

We might be reminiscing about an ending today, but we’re also celebrating a beginning. Tim’s latest project, 1923, premieres today!
We understand he’s in three of the eight episodes, but we aren’t sure which three, so I guess it’ll be a Tim hunt. We’re really looking forward to finding him!

I really want to like 1923 but it is such a soap with 2 bad storylines. It saw no real connection between these 3 storylines in my eyes and tbh I hope the 2. season will solve some of these problems.
The native america storyline is super interesting but with every new scene it felt more and more like torture porn. Also what was the connection to the main story?
Then there is the really stupid story line with Spencer and Alex who declare after half a day the truest and biggest love to each other. In almost all their scenes they say the most cringe worthy stuff and let their hormons rule. Even when their lifes are in danger. I fought against myself to skip these scenes.
The third storyline is the most interesting because it is finally the one which plays in Yellowstone and has the Duttons as the main characters.
It shows the fight between the various farmers. Corruption, power struggles, murders, tears, the love between family members.
I hate the two villains. I mean the villains in the native americans story are horrible but almost like a carricature?
In this storyline we have villains that I can totally see living in the USA.
Also the older main couple is really good. It shows so much trust and love in each other. Even when they fight with each other.
Please I need more of them. ❤️

I think that both 1883 and 1923 are better than yellowstone. and yes you should absolutely be a period romance girlie, in my experience only good things come from being that
I didn't even know there was an 1883!!! 😅 Maybe I'll put that on my list. I don't have any drive to watch Yellowstone currently so I might just do a wikipedia dive lol.
I think I am a period romance girl at heart. I typically avoid period dramas/books for some reason but this is a sign I need to dip my toe into it more.

yellowstones cuh-razy they’re like “hey I know I just beat you up within an inch of your life and hit you with a big rockbut now you look hurt can I get you help?” and the other guy will be like “get me help but lie about how I got hurt so you won’t get in trouble” and then first guy doesn’t lie and then the second guy dies. like what’s all this about?

Romantic Shit: Ryan x Reader (Yellowstone)
Tumblr media
Tagging: @hatersaremymotivators justsimplyme93 knick3rbock3r anticxrrupt
Prequel to Summer (NSFW)
Tumblr media
Every morning that Ryan wakes up with you is a gift. He’s thought that ever since you decided to take this cowboy to bed. This morning though, this morning is bitter sweet because he’s leaving in a couple of days for Texas and the two of you still haven’t discussed what that means for the relationship.
When he finds you, you’re standing on the porch of your house, watching the sunrise in the distance, a mug of coffee clasped to your chest. You’re clad in nothing but his plaid shirt and cowboy boots. The tattoo of his name stands stark against your upper thigh, a symbol of your love for him, your commitment.
This thing between the two of you was never meant to have a future.
In the beginning he didn’t see how it could work, you were a deputy in the sheriff’s department and he was a land enforcement agent/cowboy who did some goddamn shady shit. The secrets you kept from one another should have strangled the life out of this thing but instead it had flourished, because there has always been a mutual understanding. He’s got shit he can’t tell you and you’ve got shit you can’t tell him.
“We should talk about it.” He says quietly as he comes to lean against the wooden strut that supports the gable.
You set your coffee cup down on the railing before you turn your attention towards him. His jeans are slung low on his hips, the orange light from the sunrise plays over his bare chest, highlighting the brand that’s seared into his skin.
“I guess I just wasn’t ready for this to end just yet.” You say as you lean against the pillar opposite him.
Ryan wants to tell you it doesn’t have to, that he’ll be true to you out there in Texas but he can’t ask you to wait a year for him, no matter how much he may want it. His fingertips trace over your name, the italic scrawl inked into his inner forearm.
Katalina…
The love of his life.
The woman whose about to become Sheriff of this county.
You can’t go with him and he can’t stay…
“I love you.” He says quietly as he looks out across the landscape. “I will always love you, the distance doesn’t change that.”
“I know.” You say softly as you come to stand beside him. “I keep asking myself what’s one year in the space of a lifetime?”
“And what’s the answer?” He asks you, the back of his hand brushing lightly against yours.
Your fingers capture his, entwining them and for the first time since this conversation started he allows himself to hope.
“Marry you.” You say, squeezing his hand a little. “So you’ll know you’ll always be mine, wherever you go.”
If that isn’t the most romantic shit he doesn’t know what is.
“Are you asking me that honey?” He murmurs, his hands coming to rest on your hips as he backs you up against the strut. He can feel the heat of your body through the shirt, he wants to unbutton it, take it off, fuck you right here on the porch. “Are you asking me to marry you before I head off to Texas?”
Your fingers lace at the base of his neck, fingertips brushing over the light curls. His hair has gotten a little long this season. He’s been meaning to cut it but he likes the way your fingers feel when you tug it just right.
“I guess I am cowboy.” You whisper against his lips. “So is that a yes or a no?”
Love Ryan? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood
Tumblr media
art credit: @SimonWrightSays
I'm dusting off my blog for the first time in a looong time with some thoughts about the new prequel series.
I've been on the fence about the new series, but after learning that Claire's parents' story will be included, I found myself more intrigued. Then seeing this (amazing) sketch of young Jamie and Claire got my imagination flowing.
I'm mostly interested to see how the writers will integrate the two storylines, as I would think they'll have to do. Given at least one (and perhaps both) of Claire's parents can time travel:
Will one of them be from the past (her father, I presume) and, in a kind of reverse Outlander, meet/fall in love with the other in the future?
And/or will both of them travel back to Jamie's parent's time (purposely or by accident) and will they meet/be friends (or foes) of each other's for a time?
Will they give birth to Claire in the past or the present? Will Jamie and Claire know each other (or at least meet briefly) as very young children but be too young to remember that encounter/relationship? (See picture above..and yes, I know there's a 5 year age difference in OL but just indulge me here because that picture is so cute. Maybe, more realistically, when Claire is 5, they are present for Jamie's birth instead. Isn't one of the rules of time travel in OL that you have to have a connection to where you're traveling to? Since Claire went through the stones the first time by accident, could she have landed where/when she did because of that connection to Jamie / his family from her past even if she didn't consciously remember it?)
Do Claire's parents actually die in a car crash or was she just told this by Uncle Lamb as a way to explain their absence? Did they get stuck in the past instead and spend the rest of their lives trying to return to her? Do Jamie's parents find out their secret and try to help them in this endeavor to return to the future?
Or maybe they perish in the past and Uncle Lamb, a time traveler himself, brings Claire to the present to keep her safe.
Because (I don't think) there's any book reference to Claire's parents other than her mentioning how they died and that she doesn't really remember them, the possibilities related to their storyline are endless.
Having put these thoughts out into the universe, though, I'm likely setting myself up for disappointment if/when the series airs and does none of these things. However, a connection of some sort between the two couples will have to be established in order for the series to have a flow that makes sense and is not disjointed.
PS: I read the first 3 books and part of the 4th before setting them aside years ago, so I don't consider myself a book reader. Perhaps there's information in the later books that would make the potential connections I've imagined for this new series impossible. If so, please let me know.
PPS: . Do we know if this prequel is intended to be a limited series (like the Yellowstone prequel "1883") or a series with multiple seasons? If it's a limited series of 10 episodes, they might be able to get away with two separate storylines that merge in some way only at the end. I just don't think I would find it as intriguing as one that's interconnected.

1923 (2022-)
The Duttons face a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of Western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.
This is the prequel to 'Yellowstone' and a sequel to 1883. It's really really very good. I love the new characters and the scenery. Really interesting characters. I have only watched the four episodes available in UK and it's brilliant. I have tried to watch 1883 but for some reason I cannot get into it. Has anyone seen it, does it get better?
If you haven't seen 'Yellowstone' then I highly recommend it, follow it by watching 1923! Is it just me, or does '1923' feels like an American version of the Downton Abbey (but Western Style!)?
