Crappy cars die hard apparently.

About a week ago my dad came home, looking pale, and went "so i was driving home and suddenly my car made a noise and All the oil fell out at once."

He had kind of gently crept the car, a 1998 Saturn that looks like every white sedan ever back home so he and my brother could look at it later.

My brother climbs under the car to find the leak and soon comes back out, saying "nah, that's dead."

"What happened?" my dad asks.

My dad comes in and shows my mom and I this photo shortly afterward.

Yeah all it's oil and transmission fluid fell out.

We have a new car now.

i (and i think a lot of other people on here) don’t have instagram so i’d love a compilation of all of shannon’s ig posts and stuff!

!! Excellent to know that it would be of use to more than just me! Okay so the posts I was referring to in those tags originally were specifically the keeper summer posts, but!

As for what's happening right now, Shannon is having a little office building built in her backyard right now for writing, a space where she can work baby-free again! it recently had the roof added, though it's all still pretty unfinished wood at the moment. Visibly under construction

She's also been redrawing some Iggy art of his previous styles, though no official big posts of them are up yet, just glimpses. Though I gotta admit the glimpses are big glimpses and practically whole posts. They've been in the works for years but she's been busy with other things. There's the Stellarlune ombre twilight design, the dark blue Neverseen design, and the purple poof Lodestar design!

Back to the keeper summer thing though:

Those were a combination of deleted lines from Stellarlune and videos made that compiled different moments in the series together. Things like "Nine Reasons We Love Fitz Vacker!" and then the video was a bunch of images of moments from the series and the photos switched between each other with cheesy transitions.

I personally found the videos hard to watch (only finished like half of the first one), so I figured it was probably the same for others! And I could compile all the deleted lines and moments from those videos into one so we could all participate and share in the fun in a different format. And because having a purpose like that would make it easier for me to watch the videos.

So now that I know another person would benefit from that as well, I'll probably get to that pretty soon!

I never knew that The Downward Spiral was a concept album. (My music knowledge tends to be broad and shallow over narrow and deep, y'know?). I knew a few songs (The Only Time is a personal fave) but I didn't know much about the band.

So, just as an overview of the album it's about the narrator's titular downward spiral. Wikipedia lists the themes as: "religion, dehumanization, violence, disease, society, drugs, sex, and finally, suicide."

Just looking at Closer, it's not hard to see why people think of it as a "sex song", honestly. But much like a lot of popular art, I encourage the audience to really listen to the lyrics here, to examine it in a different way.

The backing track (hiiii Iggy Pop! Iggy Pop cameo here!!) has a strong rhythm. The breathy vocals add to the sexual feeling of the song. The lyrics are, on a surface level, talking about sex. But there's some pretty loaded language included. The narrator doesn't just use your typical words like making love or fucking. He "desecrates" he "violates" he "uses". The use of the phrase "I wanna fuck you like an animal" isn't about the intensity, it's about self-degradation.

I think a pretty fair general interpretation (and do come correct me if you think otherwise anon!) is that the narrator wants to escape himself, his flaws, his self loathing, by having sex with people. He wants to be someone else.

This isn't a song about just having sex, this is a song about hating yourself so much that sex feels like it must be degrading for the other person just because it's with you.

There's also some things going on with religion and sexuality here. Sex is a desecration of the partner, it is making them worse, it is using them. But also there's this desperate devotion to this person. The way he says "You make me perfect / Help me become somebody else", the constant pleas for help dispersed throughout, even the section where he offers up himself entirely... it feels like borderline religious devotion. But this contrasts against the desecration in a way that's very fascinating to me.

As a review? I give this a 9/10. It's erotic, but not in the way most people assume. The devotion and degradation as constant themes really sell it. The religious themes add to it wonderfully. And I love to hear a man beg.

The only reason it's not 10/10 is because I know Closer to God (the reworking of this track) gets that honor. I think it just elevates the track even more when the two are presented side by side, and for me Closer to God wins out. The more staticky track is really right up my alley (I enjoy the more industrial and distorted sound of it).

In the end though, both feel transcendentally erotic in their own way.

1. Do you people understand that he switches into accents when he reads? Do you people know he does a perfect Michael Sheen impression? did you know it’s also hot

2. He used to cold call publishers/mags to see if they’d publish his work. He’d lie when asked what other magazines he wrote for; they’d think he was more legitimate and would, therefore, be more likely to take him on themselves. “You couldn’t get away with that now” thanks to Google. Also, back then, “we had telephones and we used them,” but today’s publishers would not easily recover if you unexpectedly called them on the phone.

3. It was a personal point of pride for Neil to write for each of the magazines he’d claimed to have written for. He said “I didn’t lie. I was chronologically challenged.”

4. Neil made a deliberate effort to not be boxed in by publishers. He’d interviewed many authors who were unhappily boxed and did everything he could to avoid it, including declining big contracts from prestigious publishers (notably after American Gods). This is why he can write what he likes now. Comics writing spoiled him in this regard, as publishers mistook the medium for a genre, and therefore didn’t care what he wrote (so he wrote all the genres he wanted to in Sandman).

5. He hates Thomas Hardy thanks to being introduced to him in school. Regarding being forced to read Tess of the D’urbervilles, he said “I wouldn’t do that to a dog”. He hopes students, who might have liked him if they found him on their own, don’t encounter his work in school and hate him for it.

name a bleach character you think would work in another anime and drop your reasons why

I'll start, here me outー Orihime in JJBA. Specifically part 3, Stardust Crusaders.

First of all, with Stands like the Sex Pistols and Harvest, the Shun Shun Rikka could easily be transitioned into a Stand. Hell, if we take her OST into account she already has a name for it: Love Is Waiting (which Imma roll with because Vanilla Ice didn't have a Stand named after the major arcana nor an Egyptian god).

Second, I think that she would mesh surprisingly well with the Crusaders. In the practical sense, the Crusaders could have used a healer on the team for a lot of their close calls. I would even go as far to say that depending on the circumstances that Avdol could easily be the only Crusader casualty if Orihime was present for the fight against Vanilla Ice as healing Iggy would be light work for her. (Because considering what happened to Avdol was an ambush idk if he'd be able to luck out.) And if Koichi could last long enough for Josuke to pop up and heal him, Kakyoin's ass could wait for Orihime.

And personality-wise, she would definitely add to the comedy of the Crusaders' dynamic with gag scenes like her attempting to cook while they're traveling through the desert, the Shun Shun Rikka's individual personalities, deciding getting bit by Iggy is worth it because he's so adorable. Plus she'd add an empathetic touch to the cast when necessary. I could definitely see her connecting quite well with Polnareff since they both share the loss of a sibling and I feel like they'd have a brother-sister dynamic themselves by the end of the part.

And third, if you wanna go as far as shipping, honestly I think she'd be rather compatible with Kakyoin. I think he'd find her charming and easy to talk to about his fears and shame concerning his past run-in with DIO. Orihime would be the one most likely to try and listen to him when everyone else thought he was cracking under the pressure during the Death 13 episodes and realize that Kakyoin might have been acting off throughout the day but not in the way the others were assuming. They'd have their first date after getting back to Japan after DIO's defeat.

Bonus: her TYBW arc dress would fit rather well with the Jojo aesthetic.

(And as far as other parts of JJBA... I could see her in either/or of the many cast members of Stand users created by Keicho in part 4 whether that's as a lady who works at a local bakery or as a classmate of Josuke & co.

As much as I'd like to finesse Orihime into Part 5 though, I don't think it would work since I have a hard time seeing how she would fit in smoothly with the Bucci Gang.I can say with reluctant confidence though that I think she'd be a member of the gang that wouldn't make it though since in the second half of GW Diavolo specifically targeted members of the gang based on how much of a threat they were. Moody Blues' rewind ability and Aerosmith's tracking got Abbacchio and Narancia knocked off the team census and with Orihime's defense and healing abilities, she'd be a long term hindrance in keeping the team going. So I imagine Orihime would have a massive target on her back because of it.)

TLDR: I think Orihime would fit in pretty well with the cast of Stardust Crusaders in a practical sense, the team dynamic and if shipping is also something floats your boat she would have it covered as well.

Oooooh. I wish I had synesthesia (which can link words or songs to either tastes or colors, @kyeshire could explain it better than I could). I usually associate songs with the color of their album cover. There is one song that I associate with a color other than their album cover.

"Kiss With A Fist" - Florence + The Machine reminds me of the color orange for some reason. Like, an in your face aggressive orange because it's a kind of a...idk how to describe it, it's an energetic song.
