Yknow how I mostly just drop art here every blue moon and don't really...talk more about my ocs? Welp! Trying to change that so I'm gonna discuss my favorite spooky duo.

Cindy and Binx think its fun to (break into) explore old abandoned buildings. It's really easy to get into places when you're best friend is a shadow and can just sneak under the door. They look around at all the old junk lying around. Make up a history of the place through the pictures and items left behind. Maybe check to see if it's haunted. Just some spooky fun!

If the building is big enough and if they didn't find any spirits they might disrupt, they play a game. A game of hide and seek where they lowkey pretend they're in a horror movie/video game lolol

Cindy gets a head start to hide somewhere and sneak around. Then Binx goes on the prowl and starts practically hunting her down. They both have so much fun with these games. Cindy thinks it's so exciting to get to run and duck around a giant house. And Binx loves any opportunity to get to play the role of Big Scary Monster

She'll walk and hide around the house while Binx sneaks around trying to find her. Shapeshifting into various shadowy silhouettes as it looks. The moment it sees her, it's chases time. Cindy has learned how to move around and sometimes over obstacles around houses while Binx follows after. The best cardio you will ever get I promise lol. Binx could probably grab her whenever it wanted but. What would the fun in that be?

Binx 100% taunts her whenever it's looking for her and chasing her. Saying how much it's gonna make her scream when it catches her. How it knows every single spot that makes her beg for mercy, that makes her beg for more. Describing exactly what it plans to do to her from head to toe.

And the moment Cindy trips up or starts slowing down, Binx is pouncing. Grabs her by the ankles and slowly pulling her towards him.

She tries to grab a doorway and pull herself away, but she quickly feels shadowy tendrils crawl up her sides. They poke under her arms, squeezing her ribs, a taste of what's to come when she loses her grip. Of course, she ends up letting go and then Binx really goes in on her. Cindy can feel soft feathery teases trailing under her hoodie. Tickling all along her belly, sides, even sneaking on her back.

Binx keeps a solid hold on her ankles and dips into her shoes and socks. Then the soft feathery touches turn into the feeling of lil claws scribbling all over. Cindy's tickled until she's red-faced, squealing, and begging~

When Cindy needs a breather she has a safeword she calls. Prob grabs a water bottle that she stashed somewhere in the house. Cindy and Binx talk about what they enjoyed during the chase and the wrecking. And then they go for round two and basically play as many rounds as they need until Cindy's too tired to lol

Check-in for October 28th, 2023

After a 3.4k word writing session, we've officially broken into chapter three of The Present is a Gift, and are past the 10k words mark!

I also filled ~5 pages in my bullet journal with notes and doodles, which I've set the goal to fill cover-to-cover before the end of the year. I'm making steady progress toward that goal, which I'm very proud of!

In addition to that, I started tinkering around with possible looks for a visual novel and accidentally made a pretty neat little creepy visual novel concept?

I admit that after seeing it turn creepy I went all in, but keep in mind that this was originally a cozy autumnal dating sim mock-up.

I showed it to my sister, who has been wanting me to make a spooky game for years, and mentioned how every visual novel concept I try to build up turns creepy. Long story short, she's convinced me to make a creepier visual novel than I originally anticipated. She also gave me the most unanticipated quote of "When Cthulu speaks, you do not run spell check" while encouraging me to write something in a more stream-of-consciousness format than my usual hyper-edited style. My guys, how was I supposed to react to that. That was the most hilarious yet metal line I've ever heard.

And for those curious--- yes, this is the same sister who created this abomination:

I've been writing out some character design concepts to make mockups for in this visual novel, which will be going for a surreal / eerie atmospheric kinda vibe as opposed to straight-up horror. (I'm smol and easily spooked, I cannot handle anything more than Strange Telephone or Yume Nikki.) There's a lot of them that I'm going to polish up the written descriptions for, but I don't know if it's possible to improve upon "Giant Centipede with Human Arms for Legs". I think that's the peak of my spooky character design career right there.

My main idea for the visual novel is that it will be a series of fetch quests where you go around in a bizarro, trippy setting that you're trying to escape and help the weirdos you meet along the way. In exchange, they'll assist you in ways that unlock different endings, provide deeper character interactions, and give you greater insight into what exactly is going on in this wacky world you found yourself in.

As for visuals, I want to make it a multimedia sort of aesthetic--- collage, clay, photos, and digital art will all be incorporated somehow. Character sprites will be semi-animated, with either two or three frames looping back and forth when they speak. I think it'll have a really neat look to it that way, and it will also be super fun to make!

Even the backgrounds are fun to edit, and I'm excited figure out even better ways to make them look the way I want them to.

Welp, with that, I'm going to try and chill for a while. I was really feeling the lack of sleep today, and I intend to rectify my poor sleeping habits over the past few days.

Arts+Character reveal! (Meet Clarisse)

Long explanation upcoming, so I'll try to keep this brief

On the right, we have Arryn flexing her amateur makeup artist skills. (She's a dream bean that wanted to flex on everyone, give her a break) Joking aside, I got inspired by some music, "Blood Sugar " by Pendulum (and I have a sinking feeling will @manifold-superstorm will feel inclined to call me an uncultured dubstep swine. Idk how popular Pendulum is, but knowing me, I'm pretty sure somebody's going to tell me that they're the most awful thing ever). Mainly because I got to thinking about which of my characters would listen to dubstep and love it, and... welp.

Next, we have a character I've mentioned a lot, but never shown. This is Clarisse. She's Jadis' girlfriend, and she's an angel.

Yes. An angel.

Clarisse did have wings at one point, but due to a flying accident in her youth, her wings became permanently paralyzed, but she had them cut off (this actually isn't that uncommon in this world. I might go more into detail some other time). Instead, she uses a flying aid that takes the form of a broom. She plays up the witch aesthetic to hide the fact that she's an angel.

Angels, like demons, aren't necessarily good or bad. Angels, in this world, act as defense attorneys against demons. Think that a demon is going to punish you for sinning? Has a demon roped you into an unfair deal? An angel can help you out, although they will ask you to accomplish a task to prove your worthiness of their time.

During the time the story takes on, however, angels are almost impossible to find. And that's no mistake either. During to a string of baby booms that occurred about a certain ago, heaven is actually over populated at the moment. Everyone goes to hell, then to heaven, but the angels are attempting to keep as little people from accessing heaven as they can (at least until after they deal with the overpopulation problem )

Clarisse acts as a cleric of sorts, calling upon the powers of divine forces to cast spells. She usually uses her powers for healing, and, like all angels, her powers are mostly non offensive. That doesn't mean that she can't still turn you into a pile of sand, or a newt.

Clarisse herself can, at first, come off as easily irritable and cold. This is mainly to dissuade people from turning to her for angel duties. While she does often default to acting more annoyed by things, she's quite easygoing, and always keeps a cool head. She's great at calming down those with short tempers and little patience (especially Jadis), and she leans towards negotiating issues at hand rather than fighting. Clarisse always sets her mind on accomplishing whatever needs done, and she'll always seek out the quickest and easiest way to solve a problem. She can often jump to conclusions about people, which can serve to a massive detriment. She also talks like a stereotypical business woman at all times, but this seems to be entirely out of habit.

Clarisse and Jadis have been dating for a while, and Clare is the first person Jadis bonded with since becoming a demon. They both frequent small bars where they can preform small music performances, and their ideal date is getting hammered, wandering off to a couch, bed, or fire under the stars, ordering fast food, and complaining about life until they both pass out. Jadis find Clare's witch getup to be kinda cute, while Clare really digs the 90s grunge aesthetic Jadis will never leave behind. They both indulge in the stereotypical rockstar lifestyle during whatever vacations they can get, and then follow that up with.... basically the most wholesome, cuddly dates ever.

Several people have bet good money that both of them have just gone insane at this point, and have stopped giving a shit.

Nova’s Log#1: Crystal Back Gecko

I’d like you guys to meet one of my favorite creatures that came out of it’s hiding place after Master Cyclonis was defeated! The crystal back geko that can be found on Terra Rex, exclusively. It was probably a good 2 months before we got a stress signal from the rec guardians about random clouds of crystal dust painting the buildings and statues. Lo and behold storks was interested and blamed it on some kind of 'Ghostly haunting' from past Rex squadrons. Piper on the other hand felt like it was a more natural cause. Such as young kids tossing modified smoker crystals covered in paint.

Once we reached the Terra we were met with a very snobby 'graceful' Rex guardian named Harrier. A tall, Buffy golden armored, and blonde pony tailed snoob~ but can't help but respect his desire to uphold tradition. It takes a lot of class and organization to keep things tight like that.

"Ah- the storm hawks. It's almost a complete pleasure to have you back on our Terra. If it wasn't for the current circumstances that is"

I feel like that was a back handed comment. He's been getting braver and sassier with every visit. Don't worry Aerrow was just as snappy.

"It's good to be back without being accused of stealing, or attack by dark ace. So it's an honor"

You could here finna and Junko going 'oooo' in the background.

"Very amusing Aerrow. But this is important. Those clouds of crystal dust are getting out of control. They're getting colored dust all over our homes and statues!"

Then it was my turn to put my two sense in. I slide up in front of Aerrow, despite his silent pleas, and leaned to one side, my arms crossed my chest.

"oh no~ not the statues. Don't you guys have like, a daily cleaning crew?"

I enjoyed the long sigh from him.

"Yes but that's not what they're for... And I thought the 'artist' would be concerned over it... After all it's also putting the opening of our art museum on the back burner..."

Nope. I feel for that fish line and sinker.

"welp that takes care of that! STORK! put on your paranormal thinking helmet and let's go figure out how to open that museum- I mean find your spooky squadron ghosts!"

"but I-"

I didn't give him a chance to fight back, even if I had to drag him by the arm (which I was) he was gonna help. We've been getting kind of closer since I bummed a ride from them. They make my job easier...

We looked high and low, and it didn't take us long to figure out what was going on. It turned out that it was just some cute little geckos that were being spooked by everyone. Stork did some digging and in one of his many, many, many, many, ancient books he discovered a lot of creatures and animals that went into hiding to avoid all the chaos and destruction of the war between skyknights and Cyclonians.

That war effected so much more than we all expected. So when it was over and the storm hawks defeated Master Cyclonis they couldn't get back without the door without her. They had to force their way back through the walls that closed off the other side to Atmosia. Since then we've had all sorts of bizzare creatures crawling through causing trouble. A lot of which have crystals attached to them, giving them similar attributes. Just like these little geckos. The same ones who seem to have imprinted themselves to stork... Needless to say the screech that followed.

"Why! ARE THEY SO ATTACHED TO ME! Geckos are cold blooded! They should be attaching themselves to Nova! Not me!"

I had struggled, and failed, to surpass my giggle.

"what's so funny?"

I back away from him. He didn't seem to pleased and you could just hear the growl in his voice.

"I'm not laughing at you, it's just. I uh- agree with you! But you can't tell me it's ironic. A funny ironic."

He snarled at me and we made our way back to the Condor where the others were waiting.

Once we climbed back onto the ship all eyes were on stork. Finn and Junko were snickering uncontrollably, Piper seemed concerned for storks well being, and Aerrow was wearing that 'I have something snarky to say' face. You know the one.

"Hey there stork, What cha' got there?"

"Don't even start Aerrow. One moment I'm investigating a statue, trying oh so carefully to not get crystal dust all over me and then I hear Nova giggling like a mad man. But other than that we figured out these geckos were behind everything."

I shrugged when our team leader looked my way.

"Hey- it's not my fault Stork's a dad to a bunch of geckos."

Aerrow then rolled his eyes and went to place a hand on Stork's shoulder, but just as he touched him you could hear several hisses and a small puffing sound. It was almost a pure silence as the sparkly cloud faded away revealing both Aerrow and stork covered in bright blues and purples. Aerrow seemingly less pleased about it.

"Get them off the ship..."

"ok."

I followed Stork off the condor and we spent the next 15 minutes trying to get them to go away. With no avail.

Each time we got one off, another would attach itself, and then another and we just kept going in circles.

Then it clicked.

"We need to find the mom..."

Stork kind of froze and turned slowly towards me.

"I'm sorry... But what!"

I don't think I've seen him this-

"Nova- how looong have we been at this..."

The way the word 'long' vibrated sent a shudder down my spine. And not a good one.

"All daaay~"

"yes! All day! And you only JUST now had that thought!"

"Don't blame me! You're the professional monster Hunter!"

"I know! I'm just frustrated that I didn't think of it first!"

"then stop yelling!"

"I can't this is just my default now!"

With that out of the way we decided a plan to find the nest. Which was proving to be more difficult than planned. We had to have turned every rock, and wooden board to find the nest. I watched Stork's shoulders slouch over. He was slowly giving up...

"Well. I guess this is a good enough time as ever to say this but- we're doomed..."

I reached my hand onto his shoulder, and watched as two of the Geckos climbed into me.

"We're not doomed Stork. We're just hitting a lull..."

"Yeah- in a storm..."

"which we will get through."
