Where it all Started

This is very first entry to the Choices’ Create Carnival entitled “So,,, what’s the story behind this photo” and my first ever fan fic write up so I am pretty much tensed at this. A product of cramming from Midterm College projects, still I decided to give this a try :) :) :). The photo above is not mine :).

I sit at the porch of our two storey home sipping a warm cup of fresh brewed Jasmin tea as I gaze at a beautiful sunrise before me surrounded of my blooming roses, tulips and sunflowers. It’s a tranquil Sunday morning, one of the beautiful things I look forward on the weekend after a feeling of week load office hours. Jake hasn’t come home till next month of his work from Costa Rica so I am with my mother before my maternity leave after a month as well. As she cooks breakfast I am, at this moment, had nothing to do but finish up this tea and something to read at. Instead of a newspaper is a barely filled up photo album of the new events in of my new life, my new family with the man I love. A scrapbook like album with peach colored lace trimmings I made after my wedding with Jake McKenzie. Flipping it shows my numerous dates with him but my memorable ones as are all from Costa Rica; my first official date with him was extreme bungee jumping at Monteverde was one hell of a death defying experience. Then there’s our peaceful trail to Venado Caves underground making me appreciate the calm and invigorating moment from La Fortuna and then there’s this Waterfall Canopy Zipline tour at Adventure Park was one blissful day. As I scan through the pages through it reached towards a candid photo with Jake at the altar after our kiss, a silent moment with him, our latching gaze for a moment. Of all the wedding photos this candid one made me perpend what’s behind it. It has been three and a half years ago since we left La Huerta. There’s this inevitable feeling of surreality whenever I take a look of our wedding photo from time to time, a bit cliché what felt was an inexplicable joy of my seemingly fairy tale ending amidst the almost desolation I encountered last three years ago. There’s no logical principle from all that had happened and La Huerta at all. A mystified, enchanting island that gotten me and my former school mates almost killed by a saber tooth, gigantic crab, blue native aliens mixed with series of unfortunate events deemed as bad luck or mere coincidence. No one’s supposed to make it out there alive, I wasn’t supposed to be with him at all. Where I am now is not what should’ve but could’ve had but it’s all right here, in front of me, the start of my new life with him and him. A grateful chance fate has lend to me. All these ideology that came into reality. This album is not enough to store my life with Jake. But there will always be photos in my mind from our playful arguments to intimate moments. Petty nicknames. One on the control tower witnessing a rippling aurora. Those playful and fair shares of sarcastic banter, outsmarting one another. Our first hike together. Our first airplane wreck in each other’s arms together. The time I witnessed a glimpse of his past on our jetski getaway. Our first underwater kiss after a triumphant encounter with a sea monster as we get pulled onto the depths of the sea. Sparring with him on the beach. Then our night together before the siege of the Watchers. Then the moment when I almost lost him. The blood in my hands, him in my arms citing preposterousness that I had my life ahead of me yet I actually had this wedding photo with me. The wedding photo that reminds of me the start.

Start of our union till the end.

Start of our current marriage.
