Currently reading: I am in between books at the moment! Just read In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado (extremely beautiful and harrowing, highly recommend) and Evil Under the Sun by Agatha Christie (a solidly medium Christie). Started the new Jasmine Guillory, violently hated it and gave up 30 pages in. I still need to read the new Holly Black and Casey McQuiston, they’re my beach reads for this weekend. Fic-wise, u know I got like fifteen steddie tabs open in my phone right now.
Last song listened to: Heaven Nor Hell by Volbeat 🤘🤘🤘🤘 (it’s on my steddie playlist, which has been on repeat all week pls contain your shock)
Last series watched: Stranger Things s3 (again I say, pls contain your shock)
Last movie watched: I am preeeeetty sure it was Elvis with @hannibalsthembo (TCB babyyy⚡️⚡️)
Sweet/savory/spicy? I have a mother of a sweet tooth, but I think actually more than savory or spicy I really tend to crave bitter/sour/vinegary.
What I’m working on now: the next round of steddie fun with @greenlikethesea has already started! In the same universe as IYWHCACL but with less Tolkien talk, at least so far. I make no promises that something won’t sneak in along the process tho.
Tagging, but feel free to ignore obvs if it ain’t your bag: @kirkothy @lakeshor @andropogonfalons @greenlikethesea @hannibalsthembo @teaspoon82 @dallae @fickleobsessions @shoutatthedark @pieplease

ask game!! respite and darkness lets goo
darkness at the heart of my love - have you ever read ghost fanfiction? if so, do you have a favorite that you're willing to share?
not me lying in bed just reading smut after smut like it's the morning paper lmao. i have many favourites but i revisit the surveillance series by mmesatan alot on ao3. i'm always v soft for papa ii. *smooches the bald head*
respite on the spitalfields - what is your happiest memory associated with ghost?
i went with my partner (who was a very good sport <3) to the dallas ritual and it is my happiest memory, undisputed. it was my first time seeing ghost - i flew from sydney, aus! at some point during volbeat's set i picked up a guitar pick and gave it to the volbeat fan in front of me. she was really grateful and offered to swap spots with her as thanks and i ended up right up against the barrier to see ghost! as much as i adored seeing papa, i had a perfect up-close view of dew being nasty and feral the whole night. i managed to get dew's pick - aether took it from him and threw it into the pit. it bounced and landed in front of the barrier. the kind security picked it up and gave it to me and it is now my single most precious and prized possession. i also caught mummy dust that i will frame and cherish like a family heirloom.

Hope you had an awesome time at the show!!!
It looked amazing from the pics/videos!! :)
IT WAS THE BEST FUCKING THING EVER OMG
I still can’t even comprehend it actually happened and I was actually there
Like
My favorite Swedish dude
My favorite 8 ghouls from wherever they’re all from
were there like I’m horrible and guessing distance like 40 ft away from me
instead of being literally anywhere else in the fkn world 🤯🤯🤯😭😭😭
like I saw them with my own eyes 😭😭😭
I could literally smell swiss and dews vaping
And it was v clear that everybody was there for ghost too like probably 80% of the people just sat during volbeat and the SECOND imperium started everybody got up and was screaming and everything
I just wish I was a little taller or the frat dude in front of me was shorter
I literally paid my sister and my (taller) friend to do the videos so I could vibe and badly sing along the whole time 😂
The venue people (particularly this one lady) were being fkn assholes tho when me and some other people were trying to go get all of the mummy dust on the floor behind the pit after the show or I would’ve had more 😤
You better believe the second it was over I was BEGGING the people I’m with to go to Dallas next
Alas, my efforts were unsuccessful 😔
And now my voice hurts so I will not be speaking for 3-5 business days 😂
But I’ll never forget it and I will not be shutting up about it for the rest of my life

ok no matter how i type this i sound creepy lol but i saw on ur twt u saw avatar in dallas so are u also going to the dallas ghost & volbeat show by chance
Ahhhh no worries no worries shdjjsjsjsjs
(AVATAR WAS DOPE BTW HOLY SHIT!!!!!!)
I'm actually not a big fan of multi-headliner shows if I'm honest! I've been to a few this year and I get the reasons behind them, but I've decided to save my pennies for a full blown ritual instead.
I am planning on seeing Ghost when they announce their solo tour (which I'm sure will quickly follow the album release just like last time) but if all goes to plan, I'll be traveling out of state both times to boogie with friends since only a few of my metal buds live in my area.
Hope you have fun tho!!!!!

Fleshgod Apocalypse Announce 'Veleno Across Europe Tour 2020' w/ EX DEO
Last year, Italian orchestral-death metal giants FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE unleashed their highly-praised 5th album, »Veleno«, unto the world through Nuclear Blast. After storming European stages as part of the »MTV Headbanger's Ball Tour« alongside label mates KATAKLYSM as well as WHITECHAPEL and DYSCARNATE in November/December 2019, the time has come for the band to once again return to our clubs as headliners in autumn 2020. This time, the sextet will be supported by metal legionnaires EX DEO. Further details can be found below!
Frontman Francesco Paoli says, "Dear European friends, this is going to be massive. We will finally bring our new music and live production to Europe, coming back as headliners to many familiar places that we deeply love, and hitting some others for the first time. We'll be covering the whole Old Continent, rocking every city with a new, ambitious live show, featuring an extended setlist and some cool surprises that will turn every night into a night to remember! Moreover, we're stoked to announce symphonic death metal band EX DEO, featuring members of legendary Canadian band KATAKLYSM, as our guest for the entire »Veleno Across Europe Tour 2020«! You don't want to miss this…"

Italian for 'venom', »Veleno« marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record »King« (2016). The 'metal part' of »Veleno« was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the 'orchestral part' - the ensembles - were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of »Veleno« took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

Volbeat Announces U.S. Dates of Rewind, Replay, Rebound World Tour for Spring 2020; Coming to The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory on April 10th
Today, multi-platinum Danish rock band Volbeat confirm 15 U.S. headlining dates on their “Rewind, Replay, Rebound World Tour” this April and May, bringing the tour to cities including Las Vegas, Nashville, Atlanta, Baltimore, and New York City. Special guests Clutch will be direct support on all dates, with the exception of the May 2nd Hershey, PA show which will feature direct support from Gojira. The Picturebooks will open each night on this tour. Ticket pre-sales begin Tuesday, January 14th and general on-sales begin Friday, January 17 at 10am local time here. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available for purchase and include meet & greet and photo opps, exclusive merch items and priority check in with early entry to the show and early access to merch.
“We can’t wait to get back to the States and bring a full, headline-length Volbeat show to our U.S. fans,” said the band, “and we’re beyond ecstatic to have our great friends in Clutch and our new friends in The Picturebooks joining us for the ride. We will see you very, very soon!”
Additionally, the band will be headlining 98 KUPD’s UFEST 2020 April 4th at Big Surf in Tempe, AZ and will appear at FM99 WNOR’s Lunatic Luau alongside Disturbed on May 1st at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater in Virginia Beach. Tickets for both shows go on sale on Friday, January 17.
The band’s seventh studio album Rewind, Replay, Rebound is out now. For the album, Volbeat— Michael Poulsen (guitars/vocals), Rob Caggiano (guitars), Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass), and Jon Larsen (drums) —build upon the distinct, psychobilly, punk-tinged rock ‘n’ roll sound they are known for, while reaching for new creative summits. “The whole point for us going into the studio, is because you still have something to prove — not just for the fans, but mostly for yourself,” says Poulsen. “We would not be able to do this record if it wasn’t for the work we have done in the past. No matter how old the band gets or how many records we do, there is always going to be that signature sound.” Rewind, Replay, Rebound is available on all formats here, including a 2 CD deluxe edition, a special deluxe edition box set, and transparent and blue colored vinyl, numbered and limited to 1,000 copies each.

Rules: Tag ten songs you’re obsessed with right now and tag ten blogs!
Tagged by: @tlbodine {I’m so late in doing this.}
1. “When Legends Rise” - Godsmack
I legit cannot hear this song without thinking of @roy-surokov‘s character and my Slate Carter (GW2 version of Slate McCormick) standing back to back, covered in blood and ash, both with this epic, determined expression and holding weapons. Songs that put pictures/stories in my head are songs that I love.
2. “7 Shots” - Volbeat
This song makes me want to play Werewolf: the Wild West so badly. I’m a sucker for supernatural Wild West stories, and this just gives me a whole flock of ideas about a worn-out former outlaw who’s being chased by the Devil to pay up on a bargain he struck years before.
3. “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend” - Type O Negative
Because it’s Peter Steele and two really hot girls, that’s why. {No, seriously.} And because every time I hear it, all I can think of is my character Nathan Talbot. That is the life he’d looooooooove to have. {And the voice, but he’s not that good at singing.}
4. “Alive” - Adelitas Way
Admittedly, the video played a large part in why I started liking this song so much. The video is very much a pooka trying to give her beloved the best possible night of his life. Which made me, of course, think of what Coriline Ferrington would do if Aeneas Dougal was diagnosed with an illness, and this is... pretty accurate.
5. “Another Rainy Night” - Queensryche
I didn’t realize just how much Queensryche I listened to in my younger years--Dad had several albums and I was always stealing his music. Or how formative it was for my “Brandenburg tone.” But this is definitely a Jonas-Foster-pitying-himself-about-Dia song. And one of the first I’d ever heard that had such specific, descriptive details. I listen to this song and I can SEE the apartment, I can SEE him, etc.
6. “Far Away” - Nickelback
Mock me if you wish, I don’t care. This song gave me the story idea that let me save Brandenburg for myself when I thought it was lost forever. And it gave me the inspiration for my first novel, regardless of the thousand drafts since then. I will never not love this song.
7. “Careless Whisper” - Seether
I can’t listen to this and not have scenes spring to life in my head. I wrote an entire chapter in Novel #1 (pre-rewrite) based entirely on what I saw in my skull when I listened to it. And yes, I can listen to this on repeat forever.
8. “War” - Poets of the Fall
This. This is Mariel Dunne & Briar Dallas’ song. This is THE song that just encapsulates how much Mariel loves Briar because of the unfaltering support Briar has always given her. {And yes, it makes me think of Wuffie. Because I am a sappy INFP and she is my queer-platonic drift-compatible life partner.}
9. “Inside the Fire” - Disturbed
Not only do I love Disturbed and also support suicide awareness messages, but I utterly love this song. It’s sooooooooo very Betre (Richard Travers) and Jonas. So. Very. Them. The Devil makes a lot of promises when you’re at your lowest point.
10. “Kryptonite” - 3 Doors Down
This song doesn’t give me story ideas, but it is strongly associated with a lot of good, comforting memories. It is one of my “happy” songs and I’ll always crank it up when I’m feeling blue.
Tagging: @roy-surokov; @clockwork-kisses; @skoryy; @pepperpatrol; @countofthemoonlightlantern; @many-voices; @houseleours (she won’t do it :D); @queenevaine-gw2; @irritatedhiss; @thewinterking
