This is a completely restored 1960 mid-century modern Spartan Carousel trailer in Fairview, North Carolina that is listed on Ebay & Craigslist, to name two. It sleeps 2 and has to ship to your property. $210K.

Isn't this a lovely living room? This particular model wasn't made for the American market, so it's rare.

Look at this cool kitchen. The original table, chairs and stools are included.

The appliances match the style beautifully.

How cool is this? A classic sputnik light over the kitchen. Note how it's secured so that it doesn't move when the trailer's in motion.

It's pretty big for a trailer.

The bedroom is beautiful with a built-in dresser.

This is neat, a lighted counter and mirror.

The bathroom has a great pink tub w/shower and a full-size sink w/ vanity.

Love this.

So - per the DMs we exchanged I’m going to, uh, read brick house differently to the usual slang definition and go with just… house. And I’ll be thinking about “my” Ben, aka Visiting Ben for this one.

This is a man who loves his house and is houseproud without being a total neat freak (how can he be? He’s got books and papers and all sorts of things in piles around the place). I like to think he gives his beautiful brain a rest from all that thinking by doing some home DIY projects - he definitely built the fitted shelves in his living room, and he enjoys picking up nice vintage furniture that he can refurbish or spruce up a little. His favourite chair, near the shelves with his records and record player in the dining room, is a mid-century number he picked up at a garage sale not long after buying the house and restored himself. It’s not a perfect job, but he loves it - and he’s proud of it.

When spring comes, he likes to check what might need to be done around the house and make a list. There’s usually some paintwork to do, maybe some basic repairs here and there. He’s got a nice little deck/veranda at the back of the house, overlooking the garden, and that usually needs a clean-up and sprucing up before the weather gets warm. He had two single Adirondack chairs on the deck, once upon a time. But when Lydia comes into his life, he swaps one for a two-seater. It’s just that bit cosier.

Look at this magnificent 1893 restored Gothic Revival Estate in Staunton, Virginia. It has 7bd. 6.5ba. & is listed at $1.395M.

Lovely entrance hall. Notice that whenever an older home is restored, it almost certainly means that all the wood has been painted white. Damn, I wonder what’s under that paint- look at those gothic arches.

Wow, they even painted the beams on the ceiling and the pocket doors. I wonder what color they would’ve chosen for the walls if gray wasn’t the most popular color for modern homes, today.

Isn’t this a dramatic entrance? Beautiful fireplace.

Unusually shaped sitting room. I like the fireplace niche. In this room, the white compliments the red and black.

Well, thank you for not painting the library white. Damn! So, this must be the color of the wood under the white paint. I could never take a brush dipped in white paint and touch this wood.

This is nice, a sunny yellow little sun porch.

Through this hall is another porch.

Here’s a weird little room- it looks like part pantry/part sitting room. Is that a dumb waiter door on the left?

The dining room has pocket doors to close it off and a lovely fireplace. Hate that wall color, though. I think I would’ve liked a deeper brown.

Nice archway into the kitchen. Not terribly thrilled w/the reno, but the white cabinets do match the other painted wood.

Okay, let’s go upstairs. Man, I wish they would’ve left those gothic newel posts natural wood. Look at the window and railing- so gothic.

Nice, sunny bd. w/fireplace, but I don’t think it’s the main bd.

This I like. It’s so vintage w/the original tiles and pedestal sink.

Another fabulous bath. I love the sink. The baths must’ve been remodeled later, around mid-century, by the looks of the tub, but they’re still vintage.
