There were several beats of silence before the man decided to speak.

“You… Don’t have any confidence…? Could it be that you have some underlying issues that are impacting your sense of confidence?”

While it was a little disheartening to know that the other wasn’t willing to (theoretically) understand his reasoning for why he wished to do what he had attempted or chose to do with his life, he also wouldn’t fault the purple-haired hybrid for not having the means nor desire to truly understand and/or support him in turn. It was a bit of a tall order, after all.

Even though this was little more than a game, it was still good information to have, regardless. So, the mind reader decided to file the sheet away for future reference and/or use.

Meanwhile though while I’m having all these wonderful random-player experiences I’m still like “okay I will join some splatoon discord servers and find some other people to play with” but then I do and whenever people mention they’re looking for people to play with I still just kinda. Assume they mean they want to play with people who are actually good at the game. So I have yet to actually join in, lol

hmmmmm... I suspect I'm not as poorly calibrated as the calibration trivia results from last night suggest. But given the calibration trivia results maybe I should be much less confident about that.

today's affirmation/reminder: writing exchanges between characters and them coming out a little awkward is OKAY. it's GOOD even. it's important that you atleast HAVE something there. You'll definitely get better over time!

as someone who's heavily relied on a)purple prose and b) descriptions/internal monologues so far, writing a story where neither will actually work is like. hard. and I'm noticing these mistakes as i write, things that i would find inadequate in a piece of fiction if i was a reader. but it's like that one post said: I've been an active reader for almost a decade, and I've read hundreds of stories, so it's easy for me to spot these things. I've only been writing semi-regularly since MARCH. i have the skill-set of a kindergartener, essentially. of course I'm not writing stuff that's instantly good! It's gonna take time! it's about leaning into your potential, and making mistakes and learning from them. Scrapping an entire piece because I'm uncomfortable with how it is looking right now is not. Good. For me. i need to finish it, deal with it however it is, and then maybe think about chucking it in the bin or editing it or whatever it is. But leaving it incomplete does no one any favours!
