The other day, I was heading to the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center to catch the legendary Joe Bataan and his backing band, The Barrio Boys +1. I got off a Bronx-bound 1 train at Columbus Circle, near the Trump International Hotel, when I came across a bit of graffiti, by the Broadway entrance of the building. The streets are talking — and they’re always telling the truth y’all.

Did you catch the solar eclipse? This week, eclipse chasers gathered on the Museum’s Arthur Ross Terrace to view the celestial phenomenon. The next time the contiguous United States will see a total solar eclipse is in 2044. Thanks to all who joined us at the Museum! Photos: © AMNH/ A. Keding

E-biked to UWS in Manhattan today (took 1hr! very good exercise…) 🚴🏼‍♀️💨 and stopped at this cute coffee shop!
I had the best ever Gluten Free Banana bread and avocado toast!!! 🥑🍞🍳🥐 Incredibly Delicious!!!!!
Super happy that I found my new favorite place to have good cappuccino and delicious treats!
Already can’t wait to go back!!! 😆

Gray’s Papaya, NYC
Tumblr media
That picture says it all.
Not much more needs to be written about the magic of Gray’s Papaya; their last remaining stand is on the corner of Broadway and West 72nd St., and you can’t help but be pulled in by the glow of their lights and smell of grilling hot dogs if you’re in the area. Popped in last week after a night of drinking with some old friends...
Tumblr media
The one thing that has changed though is the prices. When I moved to NYC in 1996, their “Recession Special” was two dogs with the toppings of your choice and a drink for $1.99. Now? It was $4.95 for one dog and a drink...
Tumblr media
As always, I went with their namesake, of course...
Tumblr media
And as always, it was delicious! The frankfurter was perfectly grilled to get that snap you expect, slathered with onion sauce and a touch of mustard, both still free.
They do charge for other toppings now, though...
Tumblr media
(Look, I love mayonnaise, but who puts it on a hot dog? And for fifty cents?!)
Three dogs and a drink will set you back $9.95, which isn’t too bad in the grand scheme of things here in Manhattan, but I can’t help but think back to “the good ‘ol days” whenever I eat here these days.
Putting current prices aside, Gray’s Papaya is a Big Apple institution and can’t be missed when you’re on the Upper West Side. A true taste of New York!

These were in my TimeHop. I miss my sweet UWS deluxe apartment in the sky so much! 😭 At least I was able to really appreciate it when I had it & my little gray roommate for several years. 😺 2 of these are some of my favorite photos of myself. I look silly but I remember how I was feeling when I took them. 2015 was an especially good year! NYC is where I feel most alive.
