"Palestine was heralded as ‘a land without a people for a people without a land’, and the Naqab in particular was characterized as a desert in need of technologically advanced (Zionist) pioneers to make it bloom. Turkish records dating as far back as the sixteenth century show that Palestinian Bedouin owned, cultivated and paid taxes on land; and that cultivation was extensive, particularly in the more fertile, less arid northern and northwestern Naqab.
Palestinian Bedouin cultivation in the Naqab was documented by European traveller accounts from the mid- to late-1800s, as well as Zionist explorer accounts from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Reports produced both by British Mandate authorities and the Zionist Movement’s Palestine Land Development Company in the early to mid-1900s indicated that over 2 million dunams were owned and cultivated by Naqab Palestinians. The great majority of Naqab Palestinians held their land under customary Bedouin law. Neither the Ottoman or British Mandate governments ever completed land surveys of the vast Naqab region; however, they both recognized the Naqab Palestinians’ traditional land ownership system, at the collective tribal and individual levels.
... However, prior to the 1948 war, Zionist leaders such as Ben-Gurion denied Naqab Palestinian land ownership, and characterized the Naqab as ‘No Man’s Land. It has no legal owners and anyone who cultivates it with the permission of the government is entitled to become its owner, according to a Turkish law, which still prevails in Palestine’. He rejected the idea of purchasing land in the Naqab, saying to his staff: ‘In the Negev we will not buy land. We will conquer it. You are forgetting that we are at war.’
The 1948 war/Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe) resulted in large-scale expulsion of Palestinian population, and internal displacement of many who remained in the territory that became the State of Israel. Studies of the internally displaced Palestinians have generally not included the Bedouin Palestinians in the Naqab; aside from noting that the official governmental numbers did not include them, or that a much higher proportion of the population was displaced, as compared to other regions. They, indeed, faced the most extensive displacement and dispossession, with 12 of the 19 tribes that remained in the Israeli state forced to move from their fertile lands in the northwestern Naqab to the infertile, arid region of the Seig. This resulted in nearly two thirds of the communities losing their land, property and possessions. Although Israeli authorities initially told them that the displacement was temporary, and they would be allowed to return to their lands, this never occurred. Instead, an arsenal of laws was enacted and applied throughout Israel to transfer Palestinian owned land to the Israeli state.

Recently uncovered archives and declassified government documents confirm that the displacement and land acquisition was not coincidental, but occurred according to an orderly, large-scale state plan to expel Palestinian citizens from the northwestern Naqab, with the goal of severing their physical ties to the land, and transferring this land to the possession of the state. Moshe Dayan, who commanded the military operation, wrote: ‘It’s now possible to transfer most of the Bedouin in the vicinity of [Kibbutz] Shoval to areas south of the Hebron-Be’er Sheva road. Doing so will clear around 60,000 dunams in which we can farm and establish communities.’ Although security issues were given as a rationale for the transfer, Dayan also clearly stated: ‘Transferring the Bedouin to new territories will annul their rights as landowners and they will become tenants on government lands.’ The military government carried out the operation using a mix of threats, violence, bribery and fraud; but were careful never to give the displaced Naqab Palestinians written transfer orders, because such an operation for the purpose of land acquisition was illegal. Oral Palestinian histories of threats, violence and arrests were confirmed by archival kibbutz and state records.
Although the official government story was that Naqab Palestinians voluntarily left their lands, declassified government records from the time document the ‘Bedouin resistance and protests, the stubbornness with which they tried to hold onto their land, even at the cost of hunger and thirst, not to mention the army’s threats and violence’. Archival kibbutz records also documented the military government’s use of many methods to force the Bedouin to leave their lands, including stopping their food supplies for months."

If anything isn’t working in her appearance it will ruin her whole day. She can be mean and cruel when in a horrid mood or doesn’t get her own way, and that takes its form in verbal taunts hurled at any unfortunate people that come into contact her. However, Ashley does have her positive side. She’s fiercely loyal to the people she cares about, she’s unapologetically confident and she oozes a charisma that could win anyone over. She’s got the world at her feet and it’s fun at the time for her but she soon feels that usual hollow feeling creep back in. Leroux's account of Erik's life in the epilogue is amazing and, really, I have to quote the whole thing for you.
According to the Persian's account, Erik was born in a small town not far from Rouen. He was the son of a master–mason. He ran away at an early age from his father's house, where his ugliness was a subject of horror and terror to his parents. For a time, he frequented the fairs, where a showman exhibited him as the "living corpse." He seems to have crossed the whole of Europe, from fair to fair, and to have completed his strange education as an artist and magician at the very fountain–head of art and magic, among the Gipsies. A period of Erik's life remained quite obscure. He was seen at the fair of Nijni–Novgorod, where he displayed himself in all his hideous glory. He already sang as nobody on this earth had ever sung before; he practised ventriloquism and gave displays of legerdemain so extraordinary that the caravans returning to Asia talked about it during the whole length of their journey. In this way, his reputation penetrated the walls of the palace at Mazenderan, where the little sultana, the favorite of the Shah–in–Shah, was boring herself to death. A dealer in furs, returning to Samarkand from Nijni–Novgorod, told of the marvels which he had seen performed in Erik's tent. The trader was summoned to the palace and the daroga of Mazenderan was told to question him. Next the daroga was instructed to go and find Erik. He brought him to Persia, where for some months Erik's will was law. He was guilty of not a few horrors, for he seemed not to know the difference between good and evil. He took part calmly in a number of political assassinations; and he turned his diabolical inventive powers against the Emir of Afghanistan, who was at war with the Persian empire. The Shah took a liking to him.
This was the time of the rosy hours of Mazenderan, of which the daroga's narrative has given us a glimpse. Erik had very original ideas on the subject of architecture and thought out a palace much as a conjuror contrives a trick–casket. The Shah ordered him to construct an edifice of this kind. Erik did so; and the building appears to have been so ingenious that His Majesty was able to move about in it unseen and to disappear without a possibility of the trick's being discovered. When the Shah–in–Shah found himself the possessor of this gem, he ordered Erik's yellow eyes to be put out. But he reflected that, even when blind, Erik would still be able to build so remarkable a house for another sovereign; and also that, as long as Erik was alive, some one would know the secret of the wonderful palace. Erik's death was decided upon, together with that of all the laborers who had worked under his orders. The execution of this abominable decree devolved upon the daroga of Mazenderan. Erik had shown him some slight services and procured him many a hearty laugh. He saved Erik by providing him with the means of escape, but nearly paid with his head for his generous indulgence.
Fortunately for the daroga, a corpse, half–eaten by the birds of prey, was found on the shore of the Caspian Sea, and was taken for Erik's body, because the daroga's friends had dressed the remains in clothing that belonged to Erik. The daroga was let off with the loss of the imperial favor, the confiscation of his property and an order of perpetual banishment. As a member of the Royal House, however, he continued to receive a monthly pension of a few hundred francs from the Persian treasury; and on this he came to live in Paris.
As for Erik, he went to Asia Minor and thence to Constantinople, where he entered the Sultan's employment. In explanation of the services which he was able to render a monarch haunted by perpetual terrors, I need only say that it was Erik who constructed all the famous trap–doors and secret chambers and mysterious strong–boxes which were found at Yildiz–Kiosk after the last Turkish revolution. He also invented those automata, dressed like the Sultan and resembling the Sultan in all respects, which made people believe that the Commander of the Faithful was awake at one place, when, in reality, he was asleep elsewhere.
Of course, he had to leave the Sultan's service for the same reasons that made him fly from Persia: he knew too much. Then, tired of his adventurous, formidable and monstrous life, he longed to be some one "like everybody else." And he became a contractor, like any ordinary contractor, building ordinary houses with ordinary bricks. He tendered for part of the foundations in the Opera. His estimate was accepted. When he found himself in the cellars of the enormous playhouse, his artistic, fantastic, wizard nature resumed the upper hand. Besides, was he not as ugly as ever? He dreamed of creating for his own use a dwelling unknown to the rest of the earth, where he could hide from men's eyes for all time.

Childhood
Asriel’s mother and father were the Lord and Lady Belacqua from Oxford, Brytain. While he was a child, Asriel spent his days off near the river Thames down their manor’s garden playing with the Gyptians children or exploring the woods or the city. His father wasn’t around a lot due to his duty as Lord, Asriel never was close to him. His parents are religious and believe in the Church of the Magisterium. Asriel, since is early age, does not so every Sunday, he finds a new excuse not to go to Masses.
At the age of 12, he joined Eton College like his father and his older brother before him. But he got expelled a few weeks after the start of the second semester because of his insolence towards his teachers and fellow students and because he’d rather spend his time in the library than in the classrooms.
Her mother started getting desperate about his son’s behaviour when she decided to homeschooled him, hoping that he’d calm down and become reasonable about his studies. But it only gets worse and worse. Asriel was utterly brilliant but he couldn’t take being sitting in a chair for 8 hours straight per day. A billion of teachers try to interest him but he always thought they were too religious, or stupid, or petty.
At the age of 13, his daemon Stelmaria settled as a snow leopard and her mother knew it was helpless to try to force him back in school.
At the age of 16, his brother died in an car accident when he was only 21. His mother was devastated and locked herself in her room for weeks. The only thing his father told him the day of his brother’s funeral was that now he was the only heir so he had to start behaving. He was the next Lord Belacqua and he had to start to act like it. Asriel ran away that day for three months. He went to London to take an aeroship to Lapland as it was the farthest place from his father he could think of.
When he came back, he knew he had to go back to the North as soon as he could.
His relationship with his father never gets better and the only way he found to avoid him was to leave the Belacqua’s manor. For that, and thanks to his father’s name, he entered Jordan College at Oxford and started studying Rusakov field. He never saw his father during the five years of his study but the day of his graduation ceremony, at 22, he received a letter from the Chamber of Lords telling him that now that his father had retreated, he was the new Lord Belacqua.
Early adulthood
In Asriel's adulthood he was a sitting member of the Brytish Parliament, where he defeated the Watercourse Bill. It was a proposed law put forward to the Brytish Parliament. It was by the majority of the members of parliament, led by Lord Asriel. The failure of this law to pass through parliament benefited the gyptians greatly.
He also saved a man named Sam Broekman from a person of Turkish descent.
He went back to the North multiple times to continue his research on Dust.
Affair with Marisa Coulter
Lord Asriel was a highly respected member of the Brytish aristocracy. He was an explorer and did work in experimental theology, through which he acquired much power, land, and money. This all changed when he had an affair with Marisa Coulter which resulted in a child. Asriel hid the child in one of his own estates, trusting her to Ma Costa and Marisa pretended the baby had died.
However, Marisa's husband, Edward Coulter, came after Asriel. He upturned the cottage looking for the baby before starting towards the main estate. Just as he was about to open the closet where Ma Costa was hiding with Lyra, Asriel challenged Edward to a duel. Edward had a gun which he shot, missing, Asriel took it off him before turning it on Edward, shooting and killing him. However, as a consequence, Asriel was taken to court and subsequently lost most of his money and property and, along with it, his power for killing a man as, even in self-defence, Edward was revenging his wife.
With these events, she was abandoned by her mother and her father wasn't allowed to go within 50 miles of her and so Lyra was eventually sent to a convent by the court, however, since Asriel despised the Holy Church, he would take Lyra to Jordan College with him instead.
Expeditions to the North
Asriel, pretending to go and visit the King of Lapland, went on an expedition to the North in which he took photograms of Dust and of Cittàgazze, a city in another world, seen through the Aurora. It would be here where he would also meet the explorer known as Stanislaus Grumman.
Having acquired the necessary funds for his expedition, Asriel departed immediately. He travelled to Svalbard but was imprisoned by Iofur Raknison and the panserbjørne on the orders of the General Oblation Board, mainly Marisa. Despite being imprisoned, Asriel was able to obtain everything he required in order to create a window to another world by bribing the king bear with money. Asriel was about to choose where he wanted his imprisonment house to be, and how he wanted it designed. He was given coal-spirit by the bears and, claiming he was entitled to it, could have visitors come and visit him to bring him gifts and was even allowed to keep his servant, Thorold. He was able to trick the bear.
However, to complete his experiment and open the gateway into the world in the Aurora he would need a child. If he performed intercision, a huge, powerful burst of anbaricity would be produced when the human and dæmon split which he intended to harness and to rip open the barrier between the worlds with.

What is the Meaning of a Residence Permit?
To clarify, “residence permit” refers to ‘an official document that allows you to live in a country that you were not born in’. The term “residence permit” does not imply permanent residence. For this reason, it contains a “temporary residence permit”, granted to a foreigner for a specified period of time. Thus, residence permits need to be renewed regularly.
What is the Difference Between a Work Permit and Residence Permit?
There is a growing consensus that work permit and residence permit have very different meanings. It is, however, striking that there is also a clear connection between those terms. Pursuant to Article 31, short-term residence permit in Turkey may be given to the foreigner who:
Conducts scientific research,
Owns immovable property in Turkey,
Establishes business or commercial connections,
Participates in on-the-job training programmes,
Arrives to attend educational or similar programmes as part of student exchange programmes or agreements to which the Republic of Turkey is a party to,
Wishes to stay for tourism purposes,
Intends to receive medical treatment, provided that they do not have a disease posing a public health threat,
is required to stay in Turkey pursuant to a request or a decision of judicial or administrative authorities,
Transfers from a family residence permit,
Attends a Turkish language course,
Attends an education programme, research, internship or, a course by way of a public agency,
Applies within six months upon graduation from a higher education programme in Turkey,
Does not work in Turkey but will make an investment within the scope and amount that shall be determined by the Council of Ministers (foreign investors and his/her spouses, minor children or foreign dependent children,

How Long is a Short-Term Residence Permit Valid in Turkey?

What are the New Rules for Residence Permits in Turkey For 2023?
Owing to a legislative change on Article 20 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Turkish Citizenship (No:5901), a new acquisition type of Turkish citizenship enters into force. When foreigners deposit at least USD 500.000 or equivalent foreign currency or Turkish lira in the private pension system with the condition of holding this fund for three years, as attested by Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency, they may gain Turkish citizenship. Moreover, the minimum amount of investment for home purchase-based citizenship has been increased. Conclusion
Having regard to the aforementioned observations, even the types and legal requirements of short-term residence permit is not simple; albeit very confusing. To conclude, a foreigner should be aware of his/her desire, interest and personal necessities about residence permit. But that is not enough. While Arab states criminalized Zionism in 1948, Turkey had already declared Zionism illegal in 1934. While Arab states like Iraq banned Jews from public service in the 1940s, Turkey had already imposed a ban in the 1930s. Whereas Egypt and other Arab League countries
introduced an Arabization company law that decreed that 75% of company staff must be Muslim in 1947, Turkey had insisted that non-Muslims be fired from companies as early as 1923. Those despoiled of their property by the Varlik Vergisi (when non-muslims were forced into penury to replenish state coffers) were never compensated.
