#Tr*mp was impeached as US president

+ A former federal prosecutor has called for the criminal prosecution of Donald Tr*mp, saying he was responsible for “an unabated crime wave as president.” + On (6-11-2021)  Friday’s episode of MSNBC’s “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell,” Glenn Kirschner warned of a future “runaway criminal president” if Tr*mp is not held accountable for some of the “many” offenses he committed while in office. + Kirschner, who was a prosecutor in the District of Columbia’s U.S. attorney’s office for 24 years and now works as an MSNBC legal analyst, listed some of Tr*mp’s misdeeds, including being impeached over the Ukraine scandal and his administration’s obstruction of congressional proceedings. + “There are so many other offenses,” Kirschner said. “There are countless, avoidable COVID deaths that I think could be pursued by the states.  Then, of course, there is inciting the insurrection. We saw it with our own eyes.” + “If (Tr*mp) is not held accountable, if we don’t prosecute him, then what we are doing is we are encouraging tomorrow’s version of Donald Tr*mp,” Kirschner added. “We have to prosecute today’s version of Donald Tr*mp to send the message that we will not tolerate a runaway, criminal president.”

tr*mp didn’t finish the wall, likely has long-term health problems after catching a deadly virus that he allowed to spread across the US, lost the electoral and popular vote, got some red states to go blue for the first time in years, and became the first president to get impeached twice in their first term. What a loser.
literally one of the biggest losers in american history

I’m not getting my hopes up but...imagine Tr*mp being the first US president to lose the popular vote twice, get impeached, AND be removed through the 25th Amendment

hey ik were not very close to the presidential elections yet but kanye just announced he’s running for president in 2020, and while its probably a joke heres a reminder to not vote for him, nor do any write ins for clout!
i could go on a huge long rant about this, and maybe i will, but for now all i’ll say is by voting for someone for clout is throwing away a vote. its the same thing when people wrote in “harambe” in 2016 that got us tr*mp in office. im begging you, we’ve already seen history repeat itself enough this year, PLEASE dont let it again.
im not old enough to vote yet, but im old enough to know that i dont want to have to continue to grow up in a country with the current president, and im not even being targeted. even if you hate the options, voting him out of office is so much better than the alternative. there is a REASON this man was one of only 3 presidents to ener phases of impeachment
i do not yet have the power to make change, but if you are of age, you CAN. please vote blue in 2020

why did AOC endorse bernie?
Tumblr media
if you don’t get why AOC endorsed bernie, here’s why.
after the last debate, news broke that AOC was going to be bernie’s special guest at his queensbridge rally this saturday, and not only that, she was going to endorse him! i was beyond myself with glee - i was nervous abut which choice she’d make. i had been wondering whether she would continue to be the woman (queen) i knew her to be, or if that dumbass NYT write-up was right; she’s learning to go along to get along in the corrupt House of representatives.
despite the naysayers, within and outside of the party, our girl was still repping US. that meant backing bernie in this fight --  the man who has repped us since before most of us were born. he has vision, integrity, and a bulletproof value system that cannot be swayed by corporate interests and deep-pocketed donors, unlike the majority of the democrats (see: mayor pete’s medicare-for-all stance in april versus now). despite its political inconvenience and a legion of #neverbernie haters, she aligned her values with her actions (that’s integrity, folks).
but then it quickly dawned on me that so many of the folks that i admire on twitter were not going to be happy.
for reasons that are unclear to me, there’s a huge movement to get behind AOC’s message while simultaneously rejecting bernie. a bizarre position, given that she’s been unabashed in her admiration of his message, campaigned for him in 2016, & feeling moved by his movement. he is her ideological forebearer.
still, i knew that the blue dog dems, liberals, and ‘you go girl!’ twitter would be pissed. EW has replaced HRC as the coronated candidate. let me be clear. warren is brilliant, down to earth, and more than fit for this job. she has an authenticity about her and ability to connect that makes you want to root for her. she and bernie are usually aligned on issues and are good friends irl. warren is a progressive. still.
warren has been wishy-washy on medicare for all, is pro-israel-no-matter-what, & unabashedly pro-capitalism. none of that shit is cool, ok? ultimately, it makes me trust my gut that bernie is the candidate who will remain the most dedicated to the world that i envision; an anti-war, progressive society that takes care of its residents despite nationality, race, gender identity, income, and all intersections between. this is a fight for the future of our country and i’m riding with the dude who’s been in the cut for decades.
for those reasons, i’m bernie 2020. given that i’ve seen almost every single AOC interview, i had an inkling that she would be the same. & then she was! but here’s the thing - for some folks, there’s a huge disconnect. they don’t get it. they see bernie and think:
❌ white man (who just had a heart attack)
❌grumpy old man (with a bad attitude)
❌ baggage from 2016 (and a heap of haters)
❌ unrealistic vision that isn’t possible in the confines of the presidency
❌ a missed opportunity to elect the first woman president (of native ancestry lolz).
especially the last one. feminism! girl power! in fact, check out this tweet.
Tumblr media
ah yes, “identity politics.” that thing where um, uh...you kind of support the person whose identity is closest to yours..? or like, whoever is more oppressed is who you should align with because they deserve it more?
Tumblr media
but here’s the thing. that popular, nebulous, nonsensical definition is wrong. black feminist radicals created that term. identity politics is about organizing around the collective interest of an intersection of identities. black women were politically organizing, animated by specific interests & needs of black women. the combahee river collective who popularized this term knew that sharing an identity does not automate shared interest. all kinfolk ain’t skinfolk. when it comes down to it, your vision matters more than your social identity. in this way, endorsing bernie is aligning with AOC’s identity politics. bernie’s political investments are more concerned with the needs of the most vulnerable. think of it that way.
by comparison...
✅warren consistently centers ‘middle class working families’ in her messaging while bernie focuses on ‘working people’ and the ‘impoverished’.
✅ bernie wants to cancel all student debt, warren only wants to cancel it for some
✅ bernie is anti-war and anti-imperalism, warren wants...a green military?
✅bernie is a committed socialist, warren is a committed capitalist
✅bernie ran against clinton (a hardcore neoliberal), warren endorsed clinton
there’s more, but you get the point. there is one candidate in the 2020 field whose vision is clear, equitable, & staunchly committed to justice for all americans: bernie sanders. asking why AOC would endorse bernie instead of EW fails to recognize that their overall interests are divergent. warren is a woman yes, but bernie would also be the first jewish president. AOC has already acknowledged that she has jewish ancestors in puerto rico - by this logic, should she be as committed to that identity? or should she endorse julian castro, a fellow latinx?
Tumblr media
tbqh, some of the blowback smacks of co-opting the intellect & labor of WOC & then discarding them...if you f*cked with AOC last week, today should be no different. she is still fighting for US and even if he isn’t *your* candidate, do not embarrass yourself by dragging her. check the legions of idiots on twitter now, saying she has no clout in the party anyway (HA!) & claiming she would be bad for the warren campaign. nah. you may not agree with this decision but it would behoove you to respect it.
if you still don’t get it, imagine what AOC’s platform will look like when she runs for president-- more like bernie or e. warren?
we can all agree on this, i hope: tr*mp is an abomination and should be impeached. warren or sanders, this country will be much better off.

Okay I feel I have to speak
It's been 4 years since I was in DC shortly after Tr*mp had been inaugurated as President. I walked by the White House when it had been only 5 months of him in office. There's military surrounding the building and also more wherever he is along with the VP. There was protests about him being president for his views. I remember vividly because I, a freshly out and proud bi, was drawn to them, but I was there with my school for a 4th of July parade.
On the 4th, we all went to Capitol Hill and sat on the grass around the building for a performance. I had to take my life saving meds out of my purse in case of a reaction to something because it could be used for something else (a bomb mayhaps). We had to be screened before going on the premises because it's a major building. There were some military personnel along with a shit load of cops.
What happened on the 6th. That was ridiculous. This is how America is, but there's no excuse for that low of officers. Yes, this is a pandemic. However, I saw more officers at the screening process than I did on national television with this coup. From what I know the VP was in there making a case about the votes for the Republicans to come back and win the election. There is supposed to be Secret Service and Military personnel wherever he is. From what I've seen, there was not. He evacuated, yes. However, that is an attack on his life.
I'll be one of the first to say that I don't like our presidency and the cabinet, but my knowledge of government and all is screaming that this could be taken as an act against our VP. These people are open Tr*mp supporters with their flags waving about.
The lack of security screams that this was preplanned, and if that wasnt clear before, the selfies and the calm talking from what security was there says that it was. There's proof that Tr*mp instigated this, so he is able to and should be impeached completely. This screams to me that our sad excuse of a president told the should be there security to not be there for whatever reason and allow the ones that kiss his ass and probably voted for him big time to be there. There is videographic evidence that cops there let them in casually.
So while this was a coup, this was probably also most likely premeditated by the people that are supposed to protect us.

I feel really dumb for not knowing what’s going on. I’ve never understood politics no matter how hard I try, would you mind explaining why she’s so important and how her death will affect politics?
What makes her so important? I know she was a judge but I’m not American so I’ve never heard of her before & when I google it just keeps saying she’s a judge.
these are kinda similar questions so i’m answering them below (there’s a read more because this got really long but anything with politics is inevitably fact heavy so bear with me!!)
ruth bader ginsburg (rbg) was an associate justice on the supreme court of the united states (the highest court in the us judiciary system). there are eight associate justices and once you’re nominated and confirmed to the position you’re effectively given life tenure that only ends when you die, resign, retire or are impeached. she had been on the supreme court for 27 years and was the most prominent member as the leader of the liberal side of the court (there are both democratic and republican appointed justices on the supreme court). she is super important because she fought tooth and nail (more so than any justice before her) for the fair treatment of women and gender equality, workers’ rights and the separation of church and state. now that she’s died, her spot on the supreme court is “open” and the sitting president (tr*mp) is able to nominate a new associate justice. this open seat on the supreme court means conservatives now outnumber liberals, which is......awful. this sucks because a lot of the conservative justices on the supreme court are anti-lgbtq+ rights, anti-women’s rights, pro-life/anti-abortion and fight for laws and institutions that harm undocumented immigrants (among other shitty, disgusting policies). and to top it all off allllll of this is happening during an election year when normally justices are not supposed to be nominated (the senate has to wait until the new president is serving to confirm the replacement justice). now tr*mp is going to try and bypass this law and confirm another republican/conservative justice and use it as a political ploy to win the election.

People who think today’s impeachment was pointless because he probably won’t be removed by the Senate/even if he is we’d get Pence are killjoys tbh. Let us celebrate that he’ll forever have that asterisk next to his name, and he’s the first president to be impeached in his 1st term. Plus, two things: just because we’d deal with Pence doesn’t mean there should be no accountability for Tr*mp’s crimes, and whatever crimes he’s impeached for cannot be pardoned in the future, so there’s some food for thought!

+ The U.S. House of Representatives broke new ground Wednesday by impeaching a president for a second time, a week before he leaves office, indicting Pres-ident Tr*mp for inciting a riot with false claims of a stolen election that led to the storming of the Capitol and five deaths. ... + The House took a final vote Wednesday afternoon, one week after the riot and just two days after the impeachment resolution was filed. It was a stunningly swift response from a House that took nearly three months to impeach Tr*mp in 2019 on charges of abuse of power and contempt of Congress. + But with just seven days remaining in Tr*mp’s term, it became increasingly certain Wednesday that Tr*mp would not be removed from office prematurely.

the problem is that people that like tr*mp...don’t really have complicated morals. they know what they like: america, god, money, etc. they know what they hate: lgbtq people, people of color, immigrants, etc. and trump says he likes and hates those things too, and that’s where it ends. so what if tr*mp’s foreign policy is fucked up? so what if he’s a sexual predator? they don’t really care about any of that shit—about foreign policy or sexual assault—so it doesn’t matter; they’ll vote for him anyway.
whereas people that don’t like trump are very very driven by “doing the right thing,” and unfortunately (or fortunately i guess, but not in this case) there are A LOT of methods of “doing the right thing,” some of which have bad consequences, and some of which others might think are actually doing the wrong thing.
in defining the “right thing,” history doesn’t much help us. because in the past, there has never been one single “right thing” that made a huge cultural change. movements, even ones at odds with each other, have always worked in tandem; people will say one movement in particular was the tipping point, but which movement will change depending on who you’re talking to. you might have a ton of historical examples for what you think is the “right thing.” it doesn’t matter. other people will have just as many historical examples for why it isn’t. they might even be the same example. and this isn’t about who’s right; that doesn’t matter. what matters is that they don’t agree.
there are a lot of people who hate tr*mp. they just can’t agree on the best, least-problematic, most “right” way to get him out of office. and we’re sure as hell not going to do it by 2020. i can fight as many people as i want to get them to see my side, but other people are fighting just as hard to get other people to see their side. how could we not? we care.
but this means that the anti-tr*mp vote is split into several parts. and in the u.s., majority wins. you vote for who you want to be president, not who you don’t. so unless tr*mp gets impeached, he’s going to win again.
i hate to be a downer, but i don’t see a solution to this. i’m just preparing myself for four more years and trying to think of other ways to fight him that don’t involve voting him out of office.

fun fact!
To most of the Bernie Bros not voting for Biden, you are not the people most affected by the policies that our current administration has put in place!! You are not personally affected by immigration! Or abortion! Or police brutality! You are probably not one of the people most affected by climate change! Or a growing wealth gap! Of all the Bernie Bros I know, most of them are white boys living comfortably that think anybody but Bernie is The Devil™! Biden sucks, yes! Do I wish that I could vote for NOT Biden? Would I much rather vote for Bernie? Does Biden as president petrify me? Yes, kind of, absolutely, to each question! However, am I willing to let tr*mp sit in office for another four years? A man that should have been impeached and convicted? A man willing to let thousands die to better the rich? No. One of the things I don't like about republicans is their policies are all for people who care for themselves over others. If you're unwilling to vote for Biden here, then you're just the same. I don't care what excuses you've made up in your head, if you won't vote for whoever the democratic nominee is, you're voting for yourself. The longer we go without a democrat in office, the worse off people are. People with no healthcare, homeless people, trans people.
So fuck you.
if you saw this and you don't like to see political things, I tagged it #us politics and #politics

So then, best and worst case scenarios for 2018 elections?
well, ultimate best case scenario is that Democrats take back the House, impeach Tr*mp and then Pence for treason with Russia, and Nancy Pelosi is president.
more probable best case scenario is that D’s squeak into control and hold the line keeping Tr*mp from doing much damage.
probable worst case scenario is R’s gain seats in the House and a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate (way more vulnerable D’s are up for reelection than R’s) and set us back 20-30-50 years.
ultimate worst case scenario is they suspend elections on some pretext of terrorism or illegal voting.
feel free to keep coming to my inbox to chat.
