my personal breakdown of ttpd tracklist

fortnight (featuring post malone)

i will ignore the urge to make an obvious fortnite joke. even though people don't seem excited for this one, i've found that post malone is a very talented musician in his own right with a strong country/folk background and i'm interested in where this will go!

2. the tortured poets department

of all the albums i thought would be getting a title track, i really didn't think it'd be this one. why do i feel like this might be one of those songs where she never actually says the title?

3. my boy only breaks his favorite toys

i refuse to officially claim any tracks (see my previous post) but oh. this is a good title. for some reason it's reminding me of i bet on losing dogs.

4. down bad

i feel like this will be similar to maroon in that it starts with her being "down bad" in a good way but evolves into her being "down bad" in a sad way. the "you've ruined my life by not being mine" -> "i love you, it's ruining my life" pipeline is real.

5. so long, london

oh this. this is gonna hurt.

6. but daddy i love him

okay controversially what if it's about ratty healy rather than yogurt boy? i've known people who slowly fall out of love with their partners and it's not really something they broadcast to the point where friends and family are trying to get them out. i think this one might actually be a bop about her hot girl summer.

7. fresh out the slammer

for some reason, it's making me think of peppers from dykttatuob. but also, what if she pulls a "slut!" and it's sad? like, she got her freedom, but at what cost?

8. florida!!! (featuring florence and the machine)

first of all, i am a giant florence stan so taylor is doing this specifically for me. i feel like florence will just be singing backup because taylor does that for all her collabs. i feel like it'll have vibes similar to free or hurricane drunk; "i'm heartbroken and i wanna cry but fuck you i'm in miami and i'm gonna dance til i feel better!!!!"

9. guilty as sin?

i feel like this one will be about either her accusing him of cheating on her and him turning it back on her or it'll draw on the "relationship autopsy" themes i've seen people speculating on as she wonders who "the guilty one" in their relationship is.

10. who's afraid of little old me?

i have seen people comparing it to this quote from who's afraid of virginia wolf?:

"I'm loud, and I'm vulgar, and I wear the pants in the house because somebody's got to.. but I am not a monster! I'm not!"

okay this one hurts because imagine. imagine you're the biggest pop star in the world and your reputation precedes you and you have this almost mythical status and everything you do becomes a giant media circus but it's okay because there's one person who sees you for who you really are and who doesn't seem to mind that you are both Taylor Swift, Pop Icon and just taylor. and suddenly they seem to have woken up from a six year dream and said "wait, i'm in a relationship with Taylor Swift The Pop Star????" and you're like. hey. hey buddy. you agreed to this. but you just have to watch them inch away and you start to wonder if you will ever be able to just be taylor.

11. i can fix him (no really i can)

12. loml

we don't know what it stands for so i will refrain from making any haylor parallels. however...i am thinking...

13. i can do it with a broken heart

i really hope this one will be fun.

14. the smallest man who ever lived

oh i'm getting i bet you think about me vibes. just sheer unrestrained glee at the idea that they're completely miserable. that being said, it might also be about k*nye or 🛴 so don't be disappointed. (i will be disappointed.)

15. the alchemy

alchemy is a pseudoscience. what if it's about how our perception of their relationship was bs?

16. clara bow

i am aware that people have Thoughts and those Thoughts are all wonderful and beautiful and articulate but all i'm thinking of is the opening of bonnie and clyde: the musical and that little girl singing "claarAAA BOOOWWW".

17. the manuscript

see with the tracklist...why is she putting two songs that are "the x" so close to each other...many thoughts...
