"Of course, we are bloody nobles!"
Art done by @g-vlssz!
This was a commission GIO did for me.
Now, I have seen the trio in traditional Wallachian or Transyvanian clothing, but most of the time the more simple clothing. Now, obviously, nobility clothes differently.
In chapter 11 to 19 of The lesser Evil, the trio tries to infiltrate the Hungarian royal court in Buda in an attempt to prevent another war in Europe. While Adrian does reveal his true identity, Trevor and Sypha impersonate Wallachian nobility. Which in Trevor's case obviously goes as well as you'd expect. 🤣
This was the most horrible fucking plan Trevor had ever heard. He hated every last bit of it. Not only did he have neither the Morningstar, nor the Vampire Killer with him, he also could not even bear his crest. Also, that proper noble clothing was tight and uncomfortable and he was not quite sure if he would even be able to fight in it. Also, his chin felt strangely cold without his usual stubble.
Adrian meanwhile seemed right in his element. He, too, wore proper clothing—a closed up shirt, for once, with a long coat over it—and exchanged pleasantries with the two nobles. Eneth und Nyék of Visegrád. The young lady, who had to be about their age, chuckled, when Adrian kissed her hand.
“But I don’t quite understand,” Nyék said. “What is the son of Dracula doing here?”
“We are hoping for the king’s aid,” Adrian said. “As you might’ve heard: Walachia was overrun by the Ottoman’s this year. We do not have any defenses left. Our royal family is dead.”
“They were killed by Dracula,” the nobleman replied.
Adrian nodded. “Indeed, they were. This is why I see it as my responsibility to make up for my father’s mistakes.”
Yeah, that was the worst part of this plan. For some reason Adrian—and those two bloody vampires—had thought it a good idea for him to not hide his identity. He was Adrian Tepes, son of Vlad. Because yeah, this would end well. Nobody would hold it against him that his father had killed tens of thousands! But Trevor was supposed to hide his heritage?

Genya's story could esily be re-written into Snow White. Renfri of Grishaverse with the King instead of the huntsman, if you will:
‘Geralt,’ she said, ‘I used to be a princess. I had everything I could dream of. Servants at my beck and call, dresses, shoes. Cambric knickers. Jewels and trinkets, ponies, goldfish in a pond. Dolls, and a doll’s house bigger than this room. That was my life until Stregobor and that whore Aridea ordered a huntsman to butcher me in the forest and bring back my heart and liver. Lovely, don’t you think?’
‘No. I’m pleased you evaded the huntsman, Renfri.’
‘Like shit I did. He took pity on me and let me go. After the son-of-a-bitch raped me and robbed me.’
Another change would be the Queen needs to keep the "Princess" around for some reason, only in much humiliated state.
And the Prince wouldn't save her with a kiss (Let's be honest- probably not his first thought.), but his wits concocting the antidote for the poison the Queen eventually uses on her.
It would also offer them something to bond over.
edit: The poison's made by Genya herself. Either intended for the Queen and stolen, or the Queen tricked her to make it as if for someone else and gave it to her secretly.

so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.

The Lesser Evil - Chapter 35
Art by @g-vlssz
The weekly update for The lesser Evil is here. This one sees the trio and Striga finally go out on the actually battle field, making their way between enemy lines.
They all know it is risky - doubly so for Striga. Because if the cloudcover was to break at dawn, she might not survive.

I think that the one thing that I will always absolutely loathe the movies for (other than single handedly screwing up the whole plot of the story) is for making up that bullshit rule about Zeus declaring that no god can have any kind of contact with their children. That’s completely not true but now a huge chunk of people in the fandom believe that rule as canon( because most like to pick and chose what is canon and what is not, and sell head canons as being canon to the books ).
The only rules that are stated in the books relating to demigods and their parents is that 1). Gods cannot blatantly and outwardly help their demigod children during a basic quest (such as help them fight monsters or help them travel somewhere for the quest). 2). That as of the time right after WW2 the big 3 gods are not to sire any demigod children as part of their oath that they made on the River Styx (which Zeus and Poseidon definitely didn’t break ). Gods are still able to spend time with their demigod children and mortal lovers on times out side of quests. However, it’s seen as taboo mainly because the other gods use them having to much to do, and too many demigod children as an excuse to just not do anything for them. Not send them a birthday card, not a visit, and not even being claimed in most cases.
That’s giving the gods too much slack! People like to say "well, they’re gods. They’re trying their best." No they’re not! And this is what Luke’s character blatantly points out!
Hermes not even bothering to visit every once and a while? Hermes not trying to help in even any little way with Luke and May's situation? It’s a main reason why Luke becomes so angry at the gods and even thinks about saying yes to Kronos’ proposal.
And who is the example of what could’ve happened if Hermes would’ve done literally anything? Anything at all? Percy.
Percy didn’t like the gods and Poseidon very much in the beginning ( he doesn’t really like them much now but, you know) but Poseidon at least helps Percy in little ways that can fly under the radar of Zeus and the others. The Pearls to help Percy escape from the underworld? Tyson? Poseidon even crashes Percy’s birthday party ffs! Sure Poseidon isn’t there every time Percy scrapes his knee or fights a monster, but he still shows Percy that he somewhat cares about him.
All Hermes does is tell others how much he cares for Luke and "really truly loves him", but does nothing to prove to Luke that he truly cares. But it’s not just Hermes who does this, almost all of the gods do this! Why? Because they know that they can just say "oh, well I was busy and I tried my best" and others will just believe them and carry on. Or worse, they’ll take what the gods say to heart and demonize anyone who would try to oppose the gods so that it’s seen as a bad thing to hold the Gods accountable for the way they act.
And this is a clear example of the overarching theme that the gods are actually just an oppressive establishment that won’t ever really change unless it’s destroyed or overthrown.
In this essay I will…

Joe Biden when confronted with the atrocities he's willfully funding and supplying:

i can't fucking believe it's literally a year out of the election, in the middle of a genocide that the whole world is watching, and I'm seeing democrats already scolding people (some of whom literally have family being killed in occupied Palestine) to vote for Biden.
are you fucking kidding me?
not only is he backing a genocide, perpetuating lies to justify this genocide, and directing domestic resources to repress people here objecting to said genocide (which should be enough already), he was also already unpopular before now, has barely done anything to counter the rising tide of Christian fascism you're all worried about, not to mention that he's old as shit and can barely get a sentence out
just from a purely logical, facts-based perspective, anyone trying to push Biden as a viable candidate right now not only doesn't care about the lives of Palestinians, but also actively wants marginalized people here to lose liberties. as far as I'm concerned, advocating for Biden is advocating for a second Trump term, because that man absolutely cannot win in the general election.
instead of wasting time scolding progressives (AGAIN) when we point out extremely valid criticisms of Genocide Joe, put that fucking energy toward canvassing for a new Dem/progressive candidate. we're a year out from the election. if you actually care about the lives of the marginalized not just internationally, but domestically as well, you have to put some fucking effort in instead of relying on the consistently-failing strategy of yelling at voters instead of demanding representatives do their fucking jobs and represent us.

im sure its been said already but as the election draws near more and more liberals will come out of the woodwork to shame people with a conscience to give away their vote to the democrats for free. i'm already seeing posts saying "why aren't people more concerned about a trump presidency?" you want to know why? it's because people already know he's bad. everyone already knows what he is and what he's done and what he'll do. there's nothing to discuss. he's a racist despotic worm of a man. there's nothing else to say.
biden is currently president. the genocide is happening under his watch. he's the one funding isra*l and arming them; he's sidestepped congress more than once to give them weapons. by oct. 27, the biden administration already knew that "Israel was regularly bombing buildings without solid intelligence that they were legitimate military targets." the state department/biden have engaged in atrocity propaganda, cast doubt on the legitimacy of the death toll recorded by the gaza health ministry, and so on. the united states is currently in the process of trying to pin the "war in gaza" on netanyahu (see sen. schumer's speech) after months of backing blatant genocide as a means to act as if they're "doing something" about the genocide (Instead of, say, threatening to cut off all aid to israel with the condition that all hostilities in gaza, the west bank, and occupied jerusalem are halted immediately and permanently, allowing palestinians freedom to travel, allowing aid into gaza, etc etc etc.)
the long and short of it is that liberals view their own lives as being worth more than palestinians'. that's it. they'll vote for another 4 years of the guy ushering in genocide and supporting apartheid + settler colonialism because he isn't outright attacking them (despite various laws and rulings happening both at the supreme court level and at the local level all over the country that will endanger people). they'll settle for the illusion of safety and security and shame anyone with a conscience and accuse them of "supporting the republicans" when in an actual democracy you would be able to use your vote as leverage to extract concessions from those who want to be elected. that's how it's supposed to fucking work.
democrats are not owed people's vote. if biden loses, it will be biden's fault; it will be his campaign's fault; it will be the democrats' fault. trump is bad; the republicans are bad. we already know this. this is not an endorsement of either. but if democrats are too cowardly and feckless and servile to the motivations of the american empire and never do anything for their constituents then why the fuck should anyone vote for them. you want to get mad at someone, why don't you do something useful and stop worrying about team-sports with a purely selfish basis and start hounding the people in power who are supposed to serve you, the voter.
