Pick Strawberries Day
”One must ask children and birds how cherries and strawberries taste” ~Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Juicy, red, and sweet, for many people strawberries are practically synonymous with summer. Get outside and pick your own fresh, tasty strawberries.
If ever there was a symbol for summer that transcended the sun, it has to be the strawberry. Within the strawberry, we can find all the condensed goodness of hot summer days, cool summer nights, and adventures that will never fade from our memories. The best strawberries are those that are fresh picked while still warm from the heat of the summer sun, and Pick Strawberries Day encourages us to get out there and pick our fill!
History of Pick Strawberries Day
First, let’s talk about the origin of the strawberry. These beautiful red jewels dangling from their green vines seem just a bit too perfect to have been the pure manufacture of Mother Nature, so where did they come from? Well, as it turns out they did, in fact, come from Mother Nature in forms largely similar to those we grow in our gardens today. Strawberries have had a reputation not just for being delicious, but also for having astounding medicinal properties, at least according to 16th-century pharmacists.
But the origin of the berry as we know it comes from Brittany, France, where it was first cultivated in a garden in the 1750’s, as a blend of two other forms of wild strawberry. Long before this, however, they had begun cultivating them in their gardens from the wild, as early as the 14th century. They’ve been with us ever since as a popular dessert and food item, and are grown in the thousands all over the world.
Pick Strawberries Day encourages you to get out and experience the wonders of picking strawberries first hand, and there are local u-pick strawberry fields that spring up anywhere strawberries are grown.
How To Celebrate Pick Strawberries Day
First off, get out there and pick some strawberries! U-Pick strawberry fields are in full swing during this holiday, and if you’re growing them in your backyard then it’s likely time to do at least one of the many harvests of the year. Once you’ve gotten yourself a bounty of strawberries, it’s time to have strawberry shortcake! Simply slice up your strawberries and sprinkle them with sugar, and put them in the fridge for a couple hours. While you’re waiting, prepare a yellow pound cake and get it to baking. Once it’s out, simply take a slice of cake, cover it with strawberries, and then add a dollop of whipped cream and vanilla ice cream! It’s the absolute best of summer right there on your plate. Don’t let Pick Strawberries Day go by without gathering your own!

Egyptian Chicken Crepe - طريقة عمل الكريب المصري
How To Make Egyptian Chicken Crepe #EgyptianChickenCrepe #ChickenCrepe This Chicken Crepe Recipe is a fantastic spring recipe to serve for lunch or a fancy brunch. The best part about it is most of it can be made the day ahead, leaving just the bechamel sauce, assembly, and baking to the day of your party. This is probably not one of my most "traditional" French Recipes, but who can say no to a savory chicken crepe with bechamel sauce? This crepe recipe is really "Franglais Cooking" at best. Baked Chicken and Mushroom Crepe in a gratin dish on a wooden charger with side salad in a small olive wood bowl In Brittany, France where crepes originate from, you'll find sweet crepes made with white flour or savory crepes, or Galettes as they are called, made with buckwheat flour or "ble noir". But you don't really find a "mash-up" of savory crepes, in a white flour crepe, like this. Vertical image of a Baked crepe in a white gratin dish on a wooden charger with small side salad RECIPE PAIRINGS: For starters try my Goat Cheese Tarts with Carmelized Onions in Puff Pastry or my wonderful Tarte au Soleil with Pesto For French dessert try my lovely Honey Lavender Creme Brulee or my delicious Strawberry Pistachio Tart with Sable Breton Crust Cutting into a baked crepe with a knife and fork to reveal filling WATCH A VIDEO DEMO OF THIS RECIPE BELOW! SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL FOR MORE RECIPE VIDEOS! STEP #1: ROAST THE CHICKEN For this recipe, I really like to use bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts. This will give you really moist, succulent chicken. I like to roast the chicken on a rack for even cooking and if you line your pan with foil, you'll have easy cleanup! Once the chicken is cooled you can shred the meat off the bone with two forks. Bone-in, skin on Roasted Chicken breasts on a roasting rack in a sheet pan lined with foil MAKE-AHEAD TIP: The chicken can be roasted and shredded the day before. Place the chicken in a bowl, covered it, and refrigerate it until ready to use. You can even roast double the chicken breast to have for other meals throughout the week, such as my BBQ Chicken Sliders or Enchiladas Suizas. Shredding Roasted Chicken with a fork VEGETARIAN OPTION: To make one or all crepes vegetarian, you can skip the chicken and add baby spinach instead. You don't even need to cook it since it will steam/wilt in the oven as the crepe bakes. Just add a handful on top of the mushroom mixture when assembling. This is an easy substitute if you need just one crepe to be a vegetarian crepe. STEP #2: MAKE THE CREPE BATTER The secret to making crepe batter is to make it as smooth as possible so that you don't create any lumps. You could use a blender, but who needs one more small appliance to drag out and clean? For this savory crepe recipe, I made a slight twist on my basic crepe recipe. Adding milk to flour in a glass bowl to form a crepe batter Instead, place your flour in a large bowl with the salt, whisk it together and then add the milk. This will assure a smooth, clump-free mixture from the start, a key attribute for any crepe recipe. adding beaten egg to crepe batter Then add beaten eggs to the flour mixture for continued "smoothness". You'll also add melted butter and for a finishing touch, I like to throw in some freshly minced dill. Adding minced Dill to crepe batter STEP #3: MAKING THE CREPES I've been making crepes for over 10 years now, just about every Saturday morning for my kids. #crepes #cr #food #pes #crepe #foodporn #dessert #chocolate #nutella #pancakes #foodie #instafood #breakfast #icecream #waffles #yummy #coffee #foodphotography #delicious #sweet #foodstagram #creperie #foodblogger #foodlover #healthyfood #waffle #brunch #pancake #homemade #desserts #italianfood #food #foodporn #instafood #foodie #pasta #italy #foodblogger #foodphotography #pizza #foodlover #cucinaitaliana #italia #foodstagram #yummy #instagood #delicious #italian #dinner #homemade #cucina #restaurant #cibo #chef #love #pizzalover #lunch #ciboitaliano #cooking #pastalover #pe #love #instagood #cafe #sweets #creperia #delivery #glutenfree #vegan #restaurant #cake #a #yogurt #lunch #milkshake #tasty #bhfyp #strawberry #s #e #frozenyogurt #healthy #crepas #foodies #gelato #crepesnutella #crepelovers #crepecake #galettes #sweetcrepes

I was asked about what dishes you should never offer to Daedric Princes by a follower who's probably a little too curious for their own good. Here's an interesting question I certainly have not thought of, because I generally try not to invoke the wrath of Daedric Princes! However, if you really want to potentially bring the punishment of Oblivion down upon yourself, please feel free to try the following...
Mehrunes Dagon
Instead of fiery destruction, I propose something...cute. A classic chilled custard tart topped with warm berry compote and some Hammerfell-style rose-and-vanilla pashmak is bound to melt hearts, just not in the way one of his Dremora would.
Peryite
I love making healthy foods just as much as indulgent dishes, and as the popular adage goes, an apple a day keeps Peryite away! A classic rucola and feta salad with a balsamic and Cyrodiilic olive oil can be made even better with an extra handful of spinach, a sprinkle of fresh pomegranate, halved walnuts, avocado and cucumber slices, and a few diced apple pieces! Simply delectable, and sure to keep scurvy and pestilence at bay.
Molag Bal
What should you not offer the Daedric Prince of domination and creator of vampires? Probably a soft, delicate vegetarian dish. A Breton vegetable quiche with an all-butter crust, goose eggs, sun-dried tomatoes, delicate baby spinach, fresh chanterelle mushrooms, squash, lots of garlic, and a spot of chevre. Mouth-wateringly good, this little beauty makes for an excellent meal at any time of day, and is bound to make Molag Bal sneer.
Namira
I'm going to be a little cheeky here and turn something gross and creepy into something delicious that even the fussiest nobles I've served love: garlic butter snails. Namira's followers are known to chow down on live, raw snails, shells and all, but I prefer mine with a garlicky gratin and a sprinkle of cave-aged West Weald parmesan. Oh, and don't forget to eat them with a fancy silver snail fork like a proper diva!
Boethiah
Plots? Destruction? Snakes? Not with this dish! What you see is what you get with a traditional Nord bread-and-butter pudding! It's a great way to use up your leftover bread scraps and stale butter, and is one of Tamriel's most satisfying desserts in my humble opinion. Served with hot custard and dried snowberries, this pudding is the perfect, least deceptive dish I can imagine.
Hircine
You were spot on with a salad, but let me raise the bar a little. Not just any salad will do, but you'll want all your ingredients to be gently cultivated by hand and farmed, as opposed to wild foraged. Iceberg lettuce and pink pear salad with some crumbled goat cheese and honey hits the spot, but how about topped with some marbled fatty beef? The historic Gweden Farm near Anvil has won countless awards for its pampered cows who are given a daily massage and the best fresh grass and Cyrodiilic grain. Domesticated, happy, and wonderful...unless you're a hunter, that is.
Hermaeus Mora
You'd have to be downright stupid to try a traditional Argonian worm bowl unless you're Saxhleel, and even then, most of them don't want to touch this nasty, wriggling dish. Fresh, live mealworms and kotu gava eggs are drowned in a fermented blood worm sauce, with shredded catapult cabbage and flame-grilled, toxic haj mota flesh. I once commented that it looked a little like Hermaeus Mora himself, before taking a tentative nibble and spending the rest of the day throwing up in the swamp. Please don't try this. It's the dumbest dish in Tamriel, and a pox on whichever Argonian invented it.
Sheogorath
No cheese or strawberry torte here! In fact, the least madness-inducing food I can think of is a nice, mild pistachio ice cream profiterole, dipped in sweet milk chocolate and topped with fresh nuts is the perfect Breton summer treat, yet far too boring for the Prince of Madness to bother with. Which leads us to...
Sanguine
I really dislike coming up with bland, mundane dishes for the occasional fussy eater I come across during my travels. Sanguine, Prince of hedonistic pleasures, probably lurks over my shoulder at the average feast I throw, so I admit I was a bit stumped here...until I remembered my Granny Matilda's chicken noodle soup. As basic as soups come, this simple broth is made by boiling leftover chicken carcasses for a night and a day, and served with plain egg noodles. The perfect food for when you're feeling under the weather, or have the palate of a small Nord child.
Malacath
Altmer cuisine seems like a good way to get Malacath really mad, because it's basically the antithesis of what he stands for. Delicate Quicksilver Lingwe cerviche with a yuzu drizzle and Crystal Hannia caviar, with a light avocado mousse flavoured with apple blossom? A sensory delight, and bound to make any Malacath-respecting Orc gag.
Jyggalag
Fried, hand-pulled buckwheat noodles with a spicy Pellitine-style curry sauce is a good way to make this Prince quite cross with you. Not only is it messy to eat, but your furniture will likely suffer bright orange and yellow stains from the turmeric and tomatoes, and your bowels will also be as tangled as the noodles after consuming a fiery Khajiiti curry.
Vaermina
So mundane and boring, you're definitely not bound to have any dreams or nightmares about a bowl of saltrice porridge with comberry preserves and scrib jerky. The staple food of the common Dunmer, it's tasty enough to eat on a daily basis, but hardly the stuff dreams are made of.
Mephala
This spidery Prince enjoys interfering with us mortals, so it's time to fight back with a dish that'll probably make most other Daedric Princes frown too. Imperial food is famous for its balanced flavours, textures, and fresh ingredients, and a Gold Coat seafood stew is a vibrant dish bursting with the best fresh fish, mussels, lobster, and crabmeat the region has to offer. Mild but but with a tangy punch from the sun-dried tomato based soup and a dash of crisp white wine, this is a dish that both young and old enjoy across Cyrodiil.
Meridia
Charred jerk wild boar stuffed with timber mammoth cheese and a delicious bloody jus-and-honey sauce is sure to make any Bosmer's mouth water! It's definitely dead, it's definitely cooked, and it's definitely bound to disappoint Meridia. Just a warning- try this for a laugh and you'll never be able to get rid of her beacon.
Azura
By Azura, please don't offer this to the Lady of Dawn and Dusk unless you want to irreparably have your race changed! Love and devotion is what this Prince craves, so why not damage yourself with a fiery Dunmeri Vvardenfell fondue, made from scuttle, crab meat, and extremely spicy fire petal blossoms? Enjoyed by the most pain-seeking of Dunmer, my version comes with fried hackle-lo leaf and saltrice-and-wickwheat bread for dipping. It'll have your guts in a twist for days, which is the price to pay for this deliciously hot "cheese" dish. Oh, and did I mention that it's best washed down with a nice cup of Vivec's Gingergreen Chai?
Nocturnal
There's absolutely nothing dark about a Redguard sun-jelly, made with fresh fruits from coastal Hammerfell. Coconut, palm fruit, watermelon, and bananas are the stars of the show in this dessert, set in a chilled agar jelly that keeps the heat at bay. The fanciest Redguards love mixing edible gold flakes into the jelly itself, giving it a delightful luster that is sure to put a smile on your face and chase the shadows away.
Clavicus Vile
You're not going to want to strike any bargain to give up a delicious baked chub loon gratin with echatere cheese, over hasselback potatoes and crispy radish chips. This Orcish delicacy is surprisingly so good it's even tickled the fancy of the fussiest eaters in Tamriel! The chub loon meat is juicy and melts in the mouth, and the echatere cheese melted into the cracks of a hasselback potato are wonderful with radish chips for dipping. Admit it, you're drooling aren't you?

Best Restaurants in Boystown
Wood in BoysTown
Wood: One of the most popular — and acclaimed — restaurants in Boystown, Wood is beloved not only by locals, but by esteemed dining guides like Michelin. The restaurant has routinely been listed as a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient, which recognizes culinary excellence at bargain prices. Courtesy of chef Ashlee Aubin, the menu makes it easy to see where all the accolades have been coming from. Dinner features dazzling presentations like avocado salad with quinoa and poppy seed vinaigrette, ahi tuna with fried plantains and black bean aïoli, soft-shell crab with English pea risotto and salsa verde, and Burrata with roasted strawberries and toasted rye sourdough. And those are just the starters. Large plates really bring the wow with dishes like smoked St. Louis-style spare ribs with togarashi rub and roasted peanuts, hanger steak with hash brown gratin and bearnaise, and merguez sausage with bacon-braised lentils and chickpeas. The cocktails are not to be missed either.
Pingpong: “Chopstick cuisine” is the bill of fare at this bustling, contemporary Asian restaurant and bar on the Broadway strip. The space is slick and artsy, providing a fun backdrop for shareable dishes like seared tuna with wasabi butter, peanut noodles, salt and pepper calamari, spicy seafood ramen, dan dan noodles and pad see ew, all of which do a nice job toeing the line between classic inspirations and modern, inventive interpretation. Cocktails are just as noteworthy, what with a lineup of beverages inspired by 1930’s Shanghai. These include the Ginseng Margarita made with Korean red panax, tequila and lime; the Nobility with gin, Jasmine tea tonic and mint; and the Opium Haze, which combines Maker’s Mark, sage and fig preserves.
Lark: At the risk of stating the obvious and perpetuating the superficial stereotype, Boystown is one of Chicago’s sexiest neighborhoods. It’s a sentiment that holds true for the local bars and restaurants, as well as the denizens and clubs. One of the best examples as far as restaurant goes is Lark, a tasty addition to the main drag along Halsted Street. The food menu boasts the likes of tempura green beans, Cubano sandwiches and pizzas draped with prosciutto, and the people-watching is just as good, thanks to an incredible happy hour and something called the “after dark” period, which has late-night DJs and vintage board games.
HB Home Bistro: The confines and the food are as cozy as the name suggests at this quintessential Boystown staple. Within the homey dining room, the popular restaurant serves up a mix of New American plates and European influences. That means baby beet salads with pistachio butter and grilled asparagus with romesco and soft-boiled egg share menu space with artichoke and edam fritters and papatas bravas with roasted jalapeño aïoli and tomato jam. For heartier plates, the kitchen turns out innovative offerings like BBQ beef tongue, Amsterdam-style mussels with star anise-steeped beer broth and shawarma-spiced lamb breast with English pea hummus, red quinoa tabbouleh and fried chickpeas.
D.S. Tequila Company: You don’t need to stick to chef-driven, homey eateries to get high-quality food in Boystown. Even the clubbier spots in the area have interesting options to savor. As evidenced by spots like D.S. Tequila Company, a rambunctious people-pleaser with a playful menu of burgers, tacos, quesadillas, margaritas and frozen drinks. The place is popular for good reason, thanks to its upbeat environs, energizing music and broad menu loaded with everything from bourbon chicken tacos and mac and cheese-topped burgers to churros, blackberry margaritas and watermelon “frosé,” which looks to be the cocktail of the summer.
Yoshi’s Cafe: For years, Yoshi’s Cafe has been a keystone in the Boystown community, revered for its elegant ambience, warm hospitality and its fresh, original take on fusion cuisine combining elements of French and Japanese cooking. The restaurant is a timeworn fixture for locals, as the quality and technique are unparalleled. For dinner, you can’t go wrong with menu favorites like Wagyu beef brisket gyoza, vegetarian tofu burgers, whole loupe de mer, or strip loin au poivre. One of the standout signatures, however, may very well be the vegan roasted kabocha pumpkin, filled with vegetables, tofu and mushrooms in a sweet and spicy apricot sauce with sesame oil and soy sauce.

The last time we visited Soar Mill Cove, it was a very different experience for us. Grace was 8 years old and, as a result, we were able to do things a little bit differently. Meals were a bit quieter and we had a little more free rein to do what we wanted.
This time around, we able to look at our stay from a different angle. Taking a small child away isn’t really a holiday. A break from the old routine is though – and the staff and accommodation at Soar Mill Cove, a luxury hotel in Devon, take all of this into account.
Family Friendly Rooms at Soar Mill Cove Hotel
We were appointed the Makepeace Suite. It felt like quite an honour to have the room which had the name of the proprietors on it. We were impressed by the layout and amount of space we had. As you entered, there was a long hallway which stretched out to your left and directly in front of you was the children’s bedroom which had two single beds and a cotbed in the corner.
As you walked down the hallway, there were two large walk-in cupboards on your right which contained extra pillows and blankets and a safe. The next door on your right was a large bathroom and ahead of you was the main bedroom with a large Queensized bed, a coffee table with a bowl of fruit, sofa (which I believe was also a bed), a dressing table and high unit which had tea and coffee making facilities on the top of it (sensibly out of small fingers reach!). There was also a wall-mounted television and patio doors which took you onto your own private section of the gardens with patio furniture and a couple of loungers.
Take a look at my Facebook Live video to see the layout in full:
Or watch our video to take a full look around the hotel:
Dining with Children at Soar Mill Cove
Despite the fact that Soar Mill Cove have two AA Culinary Excellence rosettes, they are extremely accommodating of families and small children in their restaurant.
You can choose for your children to have high tea in the cafe between 5 and 6pm or children can eat in the restaurant from 6pm and choose 2 courses from the menu if dinner is inclusive.  Children under 14 are not allowed in the restaurant after 8.45pm.
We opted to eat at 6.30pm both evenings. It was a little drawn out for Rex but we managed to keep him going and, because we were out of our normal routine anyway, he didn’t seem to mind.
The Food
I can distinctly recall the food from last time around – because it was so good. They didn’t disappoint this time either. There is a supplement for some items on the menu and, because I wanted to try the scallops, I opted to pay that on the second night.
Here are some of the dishes which we all tried.
Jens Gin gravlax with dill, horseradish cream and baby capers on toasted sourdough
Crab bisque with brandy and tarragon and gruyere toast
Salcombe Scallops Pan roasted with slow cooked pork belly, parsnip puree and parsnip crisps
English Asparagus with Parma Ham and Hollandaise Sauce
Handpicked Salcombe cracked crab claw linguini with chili, parsley and lemon
Cornish hake with parmesan and herb crunch, spring onion creamed potatoes, £23.00 rainbow chard and white wine butter sauce
Braised ox cheek with potato puree, shallots, bacon, honey roasted heritage carrots and red wine jus
Confit leg of Creedy Carver duckling, baby kalettes, gratin dauphinoise, caramelised apple and mixed peppercorn sauce
Fillet of Pork Tenderloin wrapped in Pancetta with Apples, Black Pudding, Peppercorn Sauce and Gratin Dauphinoise
Devonshire sausages with mashed potatoes and gravy (Childrens Menu)
Fish Goujons with chips and peas (Childrens Menu)
Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice cream
Sharp Lemon Tart with Lemon Meringue Ice Cream
Rich chocolate tart with pistachio ice cream, mascarpone cream and chocolate sauce
Strawberry and raspberry pavlova, first created by the original Mrs Makepeace, a trained pastry Chef, for Audrey Hepburn
I have to admit that I did find all the food quite pricey. It is a 2 rosette AA restaurant but I felt that they could have been a little more thoughtful with the children’s menu where the main courses were £12 each.
Breakfast
Breakfast was a leisurely affair. There were plenty of juices, cereal, toast and warm croissants on offer with homemade marmalade and jam. You could also order a full Devonshire breakfast, a Veggie breakfast, smoked kippers or mackerel as well as a bacon or sausage sandwich and boiled egg and soldiers.
Other Facilities
When we visited, it was sunny on the first day and then a bit overcast on the second and third days. However, there is plenty to do at Soar Mill Cove, whatever the weather.
Firstly there is a games room and play area neatly tucked away at the back of the hotel near the car park. I say play area, there is only a little slide and outdoor playset for children. There is also a hut housing a pool table, box of Duplo bricks and a dartboard. Definitely somewhere to hang out on a rainy day.
There is a great indoor pool for the whole family to use, complete with non-slip mats around the edge. You are provided with towels in your room especially for the pool so no need to use your room or beach towels. Connected to the pool is a Beauty Spa. I was supposed to review some treatments but, alas, this wasn’t to be. Soar Mill Cove sound like they have had their fair share of bad luck with therapists. A new one was due to start just after we left so I do hope it is working out for them.
There is also an outdoor tennis court and small children’s playground adjacent to the hotel as well as plenty of outside space to run around in.
On top of this, there is a lovely large lounge which holds books, magazines, a chess board and a number of other board games.
Extra Touches
There are many little extra touches to be found at Soar Mill Cove. On arrival you are given a voucher for a cream tea which Ross, Grace, Rex and I took in the lounge once we had settled in. It was a very relaxing place to sit and look at the beautiful view. Once we had finished, Grace and Ross had a game of chess whilst I pushed Rex around in his pushchair (hoping he would have a sleep!).
Cream tea with a seaview here at @soarmillcovehotel and already feeling very at home being back here
A post shared by Victoria Welton (UK Blogger) (@vicwelton) on Jun 9, 2018 at 7:48am PDT
If you have a dog (or dogs), they can also holiday at Soar Mill Cove. All you need to do is ask for a dog-friendly room.
There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room but you have access to fresh milk which is put out on reception every evening.
There is a free DVD library with plenty of films available.
Things to Do in the Local Area
Staying at Soar Mill Cove means that you have plenty of activities on your doorstep. Whilst we were there we paid a visit to the National Marine Aquarium which was just an hours drive away in Plymouth.
Attending the shark talk at @nationalmarineaquarium Spot the shark, stingrays and turtle!
A post shared by Victoria Welton (UK Blogger) (@vicwelton) on Jun 10, 2018 at 3:03am PDT
There is also the local seaside town of Salcombe, where you can take the South Sands Ferry and, on arrival at South Sands Beach, you will be met by the famous ‘sea tractor’ which travels out in the water to greet you.
Soar Mill Cove is also situated on the beautiful SW Coast path. It is quite a trek down to the Cove from the hotel so we didn’t do it this time. We highly recommend it though. There are plenty of maps and details about local walks in your room.
If you are going on a day trip, you are also able to order picnics in advance. Starting at £15 per person , we couldn’t really justify the expense – but great if you want to push the boat out (possibly, literally!) for a special occasion.
For more details of what is local then take a look at the Soar Mill Cove website.
Regular Visitors
During our last stay I spoke to a man who was a regular. This time around I did the same with another by the name of John. He and his extended family all arrange regularly to meet up at the Cove. Their last night was our first. We first spoke to him whilst we were having our cream tea in the lounge and he was full of praise for the property and staff.  He and his family also sat next to us at dinner and all of them were clearly enjoying themselves. It is heartening to see that Soar Mill Cove is so loved by so many.
Why Visit?
There is such a sense of ‘family’ when you walk through the door at Soar Mill Cove. They clearly have longevity with their staff which, to me, is always a good sign. It says something when the pot-washer has worked his way up to hotel manager.
The staff are all friendly and welcoming and make sure you feel comfortable. The location is clean and tidy and you never feel that the children should be seen and not heard.
It isn’t easy to balance luxury with family when it comes to hotel stays – but I am pleased to say that I believe Soar Mill Cove have got it just right.
Soar Mill Cove still have rooms available during the summer holidays. For more details, please visit the Soar Mill Cove Hotel website. Soar Mill Cove Hotel are also on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
We were provided with a two-night stay at Soar Mill Cove Hotel in Devon in return for this review. Bizu Patisserie Launches New Bistro Menu & Christmas Catalog
Bizu Patisserie continues to bring its much loved Joie de vivre to the Filipino community as it shares its new Christmas menu and catalog. It all began with a little girl’s dream to one day visit the the romantic City of Light, Paris. When the little girl became a lady and had the chance to see Paris with her own eyes, it did not take long for her to decide to open an authentic Parisian Patisserie where the finest French pastries and European breads can be savored right in the Philippines.
From its humble beginnings in 2001 as a kiosk and cafe in Glorietta 4, Bizu’s Founder, Annabel Tanco has now expanded the company to include full-sized bistros and cafes, such as the one in Greenbelt 2 where friends from the media were invited to sample their new holiday offerings. I have always known Bizu for their macarons and delightful sweets and desserts, but it was my first time to visit their restaurant and I was surprised to find out that they also serve savory main dishes. You can absolutely feel the Christmas spirit as you step inside the door and marvel at the gigantic and colorful displays.
It felt like being transported to a faraway land as every nook and cranny inside Bizu Patisserie was decorated in vibrant Christmas colors curated by designer Medilen Singh. Bizu traditionally honors Christmas through a collection featuring Bizu favorites and limited edition products available only during the Christmas season. This year’s edition called Bizu Christmas Collection 2017: Land of Sweets, was inspired by The Nutcracker Ballet with animated characters inspiring a festive and joyful mood.
“Bizu” was coined from the French word "Bisous" and is what we commonly know as “Beso-beso” or to kiss. This is one of the most endearing and enduring qualities of Filipinos as we kiss one another to show gratitude, happiness, excitement, love and affection. On the other hand, Joie de vivre is a French phrase often used to express a cheerful enjoyment of life. It can include the joy of eating and the joy of conversation, both an intrinsic part of any Filipino gathering.
The Christmas Collection features a wide selection of fine items from Bizu that could be purchased for one’s personal enjoyment, gifts, or as your pot-luck contribution to a Christmas gathering. Bizu favorites such as Cakes, Roasts, Terrines, Savoury Spreads, Chocolate Truffles, Revel Bars, Cookies, Tarts, and Breads are on-hand to bring joy to everyone. The Christmas Festive Cakes come in three unique flavours (Chocolate Caramel, Strawberry Rose and Lemon Walnut) each made with layers of chocolate and genoise sponge then topped with fruits and a Bizu Macaron de Paris.
Of course, one simply cannot visit Bizu Patisserie without bringing home their chewy pastel-colored Macarons de Paris that Bizu is known for. You can take home a Box of 8, Box of 14, or a Box of 28 for a sweet Christmas treat.
Bizu is offering 10 brand new dishes this holiday season including mouthwatering mains, fresh salads, and delectable sandwiches. I was excited to try some of these new items as well as Bizu’s signature favorites that many foodies continue to love.
But before that, I ordered a Banana Cacao Smoothie (P250), one of the healthy Superfood Smoothies on their beverage menu. This fruity shake comes with a combination of banana, skinny coconut milk, raw cacao and coconut sugar.
If you want something more indulgent, go for their Iced Velvets like the Grand Chocolat (P250). This is their version of the frozen hot chocolate combined with vanilla ice cream, Valrhona dark chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I just love its rich and thick dark chocolate goodness.
We started with a few of their signature appetizers like the Caviar and Smoked Salmon Terrine (P675). This is a mix of Norwegian Smoked Salmon lined with cream cheese and dill then topped with black caviar to make your holiday feast feel extra luxurious. Slice a portion of salmon, place it on top of a crostini bread, and bite to your heart’s delight.
For those who love cheese, another option would be the Warm Caramelized Apples with Brie (P635). This has a huge piece of baked brie topped with sweet caramelized pear and also served with crusty crostini bread.
Now let’s try some of the new Christmas dishes like the Burrata with Berries (P675). This has fresh burrata from Latteria d’Ischia dairy and is paired with fresh strawberries, dark cherries, balsamic cream, fresh basil and virgin olive oil. The salad feels clean and light, with ingredients that taste as if they were just freshly picked from a nearby farm. Bizu Patisserie Head Chef Alexander Tanco describes the new holiday menu as showcasing the exceptional range of authentic and international cuisine on offer at Bizu.
Another new item is the Caramelized Pear Ravioli (P485) which has handmade fresh egg ravioli with sweet pear and ricotta filling, sautéed in butter, garlic, rosemary and Pecorino Cheese. It also comes with sautéed shrimp which gives a flavorful contrast.
My favorite dish that afternoon would have to be the Lobster Roll (P895). This luxurious sandwich comes with fresh Boston lobsters flown in daily from Maine. These are sautéed in garlic-butter with lemon aioli and sandwiched in between buttery brioche bread. I have to say that this is one of the best lobster rolls I have ever had, especially with its generous and meaty portions of juicy lobster. This is a must-try at Bizu Patisserie and hopefully they decide to keep it on their regular menu.
For more seafood fare, try the new Halibut en Papilotte (P595) which is presented in a curious way. It has baked Halibut fillet cooked in a parchment paper box, then served with Chardonnay cream and Pecorino Risotto. The tender fillet does combine well with the creamy sauce. Other new items on the Christmas Menu include Clam Vongole, Truffle Lengua, and Chicken with Lemon and Rosemary,
Don’t forget about the other long-standing favorites at Bizu Patisserie such as the best-selling Ten-Hour Roast Beef Belly (P895). This is their signature slow-roasted Angus beef belly with potato gratin, grilled vegetables, horseradish, and mushroom espagnole. The beef is absolutely fork-tender and this is also available on their Party Tray menu that you can share with the entire family.
For desserts, we were treated to a platter of their sweet specialties including (from left to right) Raspberry infused marshmallow, Espresso con panna Macaron de Paris, Petit Samba, Italian Pistachio Macaron de Paris, and Orange Blossom infused marshmallow. Everything was so good but I had to control myself from eating all of it.
Bizu Patisserie also has a breakfast menu that comes with a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea and is available from 7:00am to 11:00am daily. Get the Grand Filipino Breakfast (P695) with a big plate full of tapa, tocino, longganisa and fried bangus served with garlic rice, tomato provençal and sunny eggs.
Bizu also offers their Party Tray Menu to make your Christmas parties hassle-free. You can choose from a selection of appetizers, salads, entrees and their signature desserts. The Whole Roast Turkey (P8,500) would be a good centerpiece as it serves 10-15 persons with its signature stuffing made with crunchy apples, chestnuts, and sausages plus a duo of cranberry and pan gravy sauces. Visit www.bizuchristmas.com to view their full Christmas catalog or visit any of their branches to place your order.
If you want to get more savings, register for the Bizu Fanatique Card which you can get in any Bizu outlet for only P100. Cardholders are entitled to a 10% discount on their total bill applicable for dine-in and take-out. Members are also entitled to monthly specials and birthday celebrants will receive one complimentary cake upon dining in. There are so many reasons to visit Bizu this holiday season so make sure to bring your family and friends and celebrate a Bizu Christmas!

National Strawberry Day
This juicy red fruit pairs well with chocolate, whipped cream, and champagne. Perfect for summer picnics and romantic evenings.
National Strawberry Day was created to celebrate those little red fruits bursting with sweet perfection! A gift from Chile in the 1700s, garden strawberry plants made their way to North America in the 1750s. The plant is fairly easy to grow and doesn’t seem adverse to flourishing anywhere in the world. If you’d like your own homegrown strawberries this summer, make sure your plant has full sun and sandy soil – and your dogs don’t eat off all the berries before you can pick a few.
Learn about National Strawberry Day
Strawberries! Fruit from the heart. -  Anthony T.Hincks
National Strawberry Day gives us the perfect opportunity to enjoy these sweet, juicy berries. Not only are they delicious on their own, but they can be elevated to new heights when incorporated into other dishes. A lot of people use strawberries when making desserts. There are many amazing treats to be made here. A simple option is to dip strawberries in melted chocolate; simple but divine!
As strawberry goes well with all types of chocolate – white, milk, and dark – it can be used in some many different desserts, from strawberry and white chocolate cheesecakes to strawberry and dark chocolate tortes! The options are endless. There are also a lot of people that like to add strawberries to their salad. The fruit goes particularly well with balsamic vinegar and glaze.
An ingredient as versatile and delicious as this definitely deserves to be celebrated, and that is what National Strawberry Day is all about. Not only do strawberries taste amazing, but they also smell incredible as well. This is why a lot of people opt for strawberry scents to make their homes smell incredible. There are also many different varieties of strawberries.
In fact, there are more than 600 varieties of this fruit. Pretty incredible, right? You may want to spend some time doing a bit of research into strawberries on this day. You can learn more about the different strawberries that are available, as well as finding out about their growing conditions. Why not have a try at growing your very own strawberries? After all, they certainly taste more delicious when you have put your hard work into making them!
History of National Strawberry Day
National Strawberry Day has been celebrated in the grocery industry since 2013. There are a number of establishments that may have been celebrating this day for longer, however, it really started to gain attention in 2013, and since then it has been celebrated every year since. You may find that a lot of supermarkets and grocery stores have special offers running on strawberries on this day. Plus, restaurants will often create a special strawberry dish and add it to the menu.
How to celebrate National Strawberry Day
If fresh strawberries aren’t at their best in your grocery store, don’t forget the many accessible forms you can always get your hands on. Frozen and dried strawberries can help in a pinch if you’re creating in the kitchen. Strawberry preserves, ice cream, yogurt, smoothies and milkshakes are nothing to shake a stick at either.
But if you are one of the lucky folks who stumbled on some great fresh strawberries, you can whip up a strawberry pie, shortcake or even a simple dish of strawberries and cream. We wish you a berry nice day, and strawberry fields forever.
One of the best ways to celebrate National Strawberry Day is by getting out there and picking your own strawberries. There is bound to be a strawberry field not too far from you where you can go and pick your own strawberries. There are a few tips that you can use to ensure that this experience is as successful as possible. First of all, strawberries do not continue to ripen if picked too early, as is the case with pears or bananas, so make sure you only pick berries that are fully ripe.
Other tips include not washing your fruit until you are ready to eat, as washing can speed up spoilage. You should also avoid overfilling your container, although it can be very tempting. This is because strawberries can bruise easily, as they are very tender. The best time to pick strawberries is on days that are cloudy and cool, yet we recommend picking strawberries no matter the weather.
Strawberries are also commonly used in scents and different beauty products, with strawberry lip balm being a prime example. So, why not treat yourself on National Strawberry Day? Natural lip balms are becoming increasingly popular, as more and more people realise the benefits that are associated with choosing natural skincare products over commercial products that contain a cocktail of chemicals. However, with so many natural lip balms to choose from it can be difficult to narrow down your search.
The first thing you should consider is the scent of the lip balm. You can get strawberry lip balms, as well as strawberry combined with other flavors, such as strawberry and mint. You do need to ensure that the fragrance comes from natural essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils though, so make sure to check the ingredient list. In fact, the ingredients are one of the most important aspects to consider when looking for natural lip balm.
Not only do you need to ensure they are 100 per cent natural, but that they offer many benefits to the lips. Beeswax, for example, is a must-have ingredient, as it helps to protect the lips, and it provides nourishment and locks in moisture. The final decision is whether to go for a lip balm tube or tin. You will get more lip balm in the latter, but a lot of people prefer the hygienic nature and convenience of a tube.

Food & Wine For Real
Okay, so here’s the list of all the things I tasted at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival yesterday. Mostly because I’m impressed by how many things we tried and I want you to be impressed too.
Food:
Chilled Scotch Egg wrapped in Sausage with Mustard Sauce
Zesty Cheeseburger and Cheddar Cheese Macaroni Handwich (macaroni & cheese and burgery bits wrapped in a bread cone--nom!)
Smoked Corned Beef with Warm Crispy Potatoes, Pickled Onions, and Blonde Ale Beer Fondue featuring BelGioioso Romano and American Grana Cheeses (very hearty and good)
Glownut (a giant frosted doughnut that glows under black light--don’t ask what makes it glow; I didn’t, I just ate it)
Loaded Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers, and Green Onions
Sweet Avocado Crema with Strawberries, Yellow Cake, and Tortilla Streussel (sooooo good, a sweet, refreshing parfait, probably the best dessert of the day)
Lump Crab Cake with Napa Cabbage Slaw and Avocado Lemongrass Cream
Baked Shrimp Scampi with Sourdough Baguette (hard to argue with warm shrimp and cheese)
Seared Scallops with Roasted Corn and Butterbean Succotash and Chili-Chipotle Butter Sauce
Seared Venison Loin with Wild Mushroom Marsala Sauce and Kumara Puree (don’t actually know what kumara is and I’m not really a fan of venison, turns out)
Bougatsa: Warm Phyllo Dough Strudel with Sweet Vanilla Custard, Lemon-Honey Syrup, and Cinnamon (sweet, cinnamony goodness)
Red Hot Spicy Thai Curry Beef with Steamed Rice
Rib Eye Taco: Marinated Rib Eye, Roasted Chipotle Sauce, and Grilled Scallions on a Corn Tortilla
Beijing Roasted Duck Bao Bun with Hoisin Sauce
Warm Indian Bread with Pickled Garlic, Mango Salsa, and Coriander Pesto Dips
Pistachio Cardamom Bundt Cake with Chocolate-Coconut Mousse (idk about the mousse, but I’m a damn sucker for cardamom)
Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese
Charcuterie in a Cone with a selection of imported Spanish Meats, Cheese, and Olives with an Herb Vinaigrette (What. I. Am. Here. For.)
Sweet Olive Oil Cake with Powdered Sugar and Lemon Curd
The Tipsy Laird: Whiskey-soaked Cake with Lemon Cream and Toasted Oats (feature surprise!raspberries, frowny face)
Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup served with a Pretzel Roll (not so much a soup, as a delicious cheese dip for pretzel bread)
“Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle-Butter Sauce
Drink:
M.I.A. Brewing 305 Golden Ale
Playa Linda Brewing Company Blonde Ale
Florida Beer Company Passport 35 Triple Chocolate Milk Stout (in the category of things that sound terrible but also too terrible not to try)
T=C^2:  Vanilla Tonic Water and Cotton Candy (literally vanilla sugar syrup and tonic water poured over cotton candy--very very sweet but also delicious and pink)
M.I.A. Beer Company HRD WTR Cucumber & Lemon Lime Hard Sparkling Water (if cucumber water was bubbly, and alcoholic somehow?)
Frozen Wine Cocktail featuring Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc (I need more wine slushies in my life, tbh)
Gumption Citrus Freak Hard Cider
Classic Lime Margarita
Mexican-style Red Sangria
Mango Bubble Tea with Assam Black Tea and Milk
BaiJoe Punch Chinese Bai Jiu Spirit, Lychee, Coconut, and Pineapple Juice (still don’t know what lychee actually is, but this was very sweet and clear)
Selbach Bernkasteler Kurfurstlaw Riesling Kabinett
Dr. Heyden Oppenheimer Sactrager Riesling
Selbach Riesling Classic Dry
This list brought to you by the power of sharing, which we were much better at this year. Yay us!

National Pistachio Day
National Pistachio Day is the time to celebrate this popular nut, which happens to be native to the Middle Eastern areas of the globe, including the areas that are now Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan and even southern Russia. It is thought that pistachio nuts date back pretty far into human history. In fact, they are believed to have been not only eaten by humans for at least 9000 years, but they have become an interesting part of some cultures and traditions!
Some historians have said that the famous hanging gardens of Babylon probably contained pistachio plants (which hang in groups similar to the way grapes do), some time around the year 700 BC. In fact, pistachios are only one of two nuts that are actually mentioned in the Old Testament portions of the Bible which are believed to have been assembled some time around 500 BC or so.
Pistachios are so special that, at one point, legend has it that the Queen of Sheba restricted the eating of pistachios to the royal court and forbade commoners to grow them!
It probably wasn’t until the 1st century AD that pistachios made their way to Europe as they travelled there with the Romans. Fast forward another several hundred years or so, and the pistachio was imported to the United States during the 1800s, at the request of various Americans who had roots in the Middle East. Finally, in the early 1900s, they became a popular snack food throughout the US and could be found almost everywhere, even in vending machines.
History of National Pistachio Day
For several decades, the producers and importers used red dye to hide flaws and try to make them more appealing to consumers. This dye had a tendency to leave red stains on the fingers (and sometimes faces) of the people who were eating them. Eventually, in the 1980s or so, the dye went by the wayside and now they are sold in their natural color.
The largest producer of pistachio nuts today is Iran. Actually, these little nuts are an indelible part of Iranian culture which is present at festivities, feasts, weddings and even funerals. Pistachios are also grown in other warmer areas of the world, including California, USA and Mediterranean Europe. It is believed that the Chinese are the largest consumers of this nut, and there has been a significant increase in popularity over the past several years here.
Pistachios are not just eaten as a snack, though. They are also used in various types of cooking. Their sweet flavour sometimes finds them used in desserts, such as the Lebanese dish baklava. It is also possible to sometimes find pistachio ice cream alongside more common flavours such as chocolate or strawberry.
Studies have even suggested that eating moderate amounts of pistachios can help keep the human heart healthy. They’re chock full of rich nutrients, particularly those that can lower the chance of cardiovascular disease.
So get ready for many different ways to appreciate and celebrate this nut on National Pistachio Day!
How to Celebrate National Pistachio Day
Take a cue from the cultural heritage of the pistachio and take the opportunity to celebrate with this nut in a whole variety of ways! Try out these ideas to get started:
Enjoy Eating Pistachios
An easy snack to take anywhere, just grab a bag of pistachios, crack open the shells and enjoy! Whether raw or roasted, in the shell or already shelled, the perfect way to honor this day is by enjoying a nutty treat.
Other ways to eat them include sprinkling some over a salad, grinding them up and using them in sauces, or chopping them and putting them on top of desserts such as ice cream, cakes or pastries.
Use Pistachios in Some Unique Recipes
Have fun in the kitchen by getting creative with pistachio recipes. Whether sweet or savory, these interesting and unique ideas for cooking and baking with this delicious nut will keep the family super happy:
Pistachio Crusted Salmon. This savory dish just couldn’t be more delicious! Chopped pistachios make a delightfully crunchy coating for this tender and flaky pink fish. Extra healthy and super delicious!
Asparagus, Goat Cheese and Pistachio Flatbread. Like a delicious personal pizza, pile the toppings on a piece of artisanal flatbread and turn it into a gourmet meal.
Cranberry Pistachio Chicken Salad Sandwich. Who says sandwiches have to be boring? Take chicken salad to a whole new level by adding dried cranberries and chopped pistachios.
Matcha Pistachio Popsicles. Make sweet summer treats healthier by making them with healthy matcha tea and delicious, crunchy pistachios.
Share Some Pistachios
What could be better than eating a delicious snack of pistachios alone? Well, sharing it, of course! Grab some snack size packs and pass them out to coworkers at the office, or bring some pastries made with pistachios to a gathering with friends and family. Better yet, take a friend out for a scoop of pistachio ice cream at a favorite ice cream shop or gelato stand. Delicious!
Learn More About Pistachios
Take this opportunity to get to know pistachios better and share the information with others! Start with these interesting facts about today’s favorite nut:
Pistachios are filled with nutritional benefits, including at least 30 different minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients. In addition, one 1 ounce serving of pistachios has six grams of protein–the same amount as an egg.
In China, pistachio nuts are considered to be the “happy nut” because the opening looks a lot like a smile. Because of this, they are often considered to be a symbol of good fortune and happiness, and are even given as gifts during the Chinese New Year.
While they originated in the Middle East, pistachios actually grow very well in the California climates, making the United States the second highest producer of pistachios in the world.
Pistachios are related to the mango fruit. They grow in clusters sort of like grapes and the nuts are surrounded by a hull that is fleshy. As the nuts ripen and the kernel grows, they almost always crack open.
Read Books Featuring Pistachios
While it might feel like a stretch to some, bookworms far and near can delight in National Pistachio Day as it gives them permission to curl up in a corner and enjoy a little light reading. Sure, most of them are kids’ fiction books, but that just means they’ll be a light read and easy to enjoy! Try out these for starters:
The Pistachio Prescription by Paula Danzinger. A teen coming of age fiction book that has been popular since the late 1970s, this tells the story of a girl who regularly takes solace in a bag full of pistachio nuts.
Princess Pistachio by Marie-Louise Gay. This series of children’s books for early readers features a young girl who is sure that she has been kidnapped and her real parents are a king and queen.
Probably Pistachio by Stuart J. Murphy. A great book for kids learning how to make educated predictions–along with a fun story.

National Sundae Day
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! In the world of desserts, there exists a delightful marriage that happens when a sundae is put together. It is a blending of all of those favorite things in one delightful place, where they might make the transit from bowl to mouth in a single, well-laden spoonful.
National Sundae Day celebrates this incredible treat, as well as its uncertain and somewhat contested past.
It’s time for National Sundae Day!
History of National Sundae Day
National Sundae Day was established to celebrate this delicious ice cream treat, and there is really no question about the origins of the day. However the same can not be said of the sundae itself. It is a treat that multiple places claim to have created, and yet no one place has been able to truly prove its claim to. So, to understand the history of the Sundae properly, it’s probably best to take a look at a couple of these different stories.
The first claim seems to come from Two Rivers, Wisconsin in the United States, a beautiful city on the Lake Michigan shore, 40 miles southeast of Green Bay. Here, back in 1881, a certain man named Ed Berners, having been asked to do so by a customer on vacation, added chocolate syrup to a simple vanilla ice cream bowl.
Berners questioned how good it would be, given that soda was far more common a topper for ice cream at the time–particularly since the restaurant he was running was actually a soda fountain! Even so, the results of the addition of chocolate syrup were nothing less than game-changing. It took no time at all for the proprietor to add it to the menu and mix in all sorts of other ingredients with it as well.
Of course, that’s just one of the stories. Ithaca, New York would put forth that on a certain Sunday in April of 1892, a man by the name of Reverend John Scott visited Chester Platt at his establishment, Platt & Colt Pharmacy.
In one important moment of creativity, Mr. Platt decided he would create the “Cherry Sunday”, adorning simple vanilla ice cream with cherry syrup and a single candied cherry.
Who’s right? Well, the paper trail supports Ithaca, but that doesn’t stop Two Rivers from standing by its claim.
Other historians claim that the ice cream Sundae was truly created in response to the “blue laws” of the time. Since clergy had started preaching against the practice of “sucking sodas”, the soda fountain owners made an alternative to appease the super religious people of the time.
Whatever the reason, everyone is surely glad now that this delicious treat was creatively invented and has been around for more than 100 years!
How to Celebrate National Sundae Day
Celebrating this day is simple and certainly enjoyable! Try out these interesting ideas for paying heed to this special day:
Eat an Ice Cream Sundae
Go out and get a delicious sundae with a favorite combination of ingredients! Of course, if for those who want to be a traditionalist, it’s an easy choice to go with a chocolate-drizzled sundae. Or would that be a “Cherry Sunday” with the syrup and candied cherry topping? There’s no need to take sides–just serve up both for National Sundae Day with neither apology nor regret.
Host an Ice Cream National Sundae Day Gathering
Grab a few friends or coworkers and get to enjoy this delightful day. An easy way to get everyone to participate is to have people sign up to bring a variety of ingredients and then set up a toppings bar. Ideas for toppings might include syrups (chocolate, caramel, strawberry, or hot fudge), nuts (peanuts, pecans, and cashews), candies (gummy bears or M&Ms), rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream and so much more!
Enjoy a Unique Flavor of Ice Cream Sundae
Just like most things in life, the basics are great but can be taken to a whole new level with just a few simple steps. Going far beyond the basic sundae, some gourmet ice cream sundaes include unique ingredients that take things over the top. Whether ordering them at a special restaurant or making them at home, try out these ideas for inspiration:
Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae with Cinnamon Sugar Almonds. It’s just as heavenly as it sounds like it should be. Drizzle caramel sauce over a couple of scoops of salted caramel ice cream. Add a dollop of fresh whipping cream and a sprinkle cinnamon-sugared almonds.
Grilled Strawberry and Honey Balsamic Sauce Sundae. Blending sweet with savory, this sundae offers a unique flavor. Vanilla bean ice cream is topped with strawberries (grilled for sweetness) and a honey balsamic glaze.
Crunchy Bourbon Peanut Butter Sundae. Dip two scoops of ice cream (one butter pecan, one butter brickle), then drizzle with hot fudge that has been mixed with a shot of bourbon. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle on some peanut butter filled pretzel bites. Yum!
Vietnamese Coffee Sundae with Crushed Peanut Brittle. Start by making a peanut-caramel topping mixture and baking in the oven until hard; then break into small pieces. Make a sauce by whipping together instant coffee and sweetened condensed milk. Pour sauce and pieces of brittle over scoops of vanilla ice cream, then top with whipped cream.

National Strawberry Day
National Strawberry Day was created to celebrate those little red fruits bursting with sweet perfection!

Pistachios are related to the mango fruit. They grow in clusters sort of like grapes and the nuts are surrounded by a hull that is fleshy. As the nuts ripen and the kernel grows, they almost always crack open.
