Art Weekend - Rainbow Mushrooms by Stephanie Kilgast
During the Game of Shrooms event, artists create mushroom-themed art pieces to hide in public places for people to find based on the artist's clues. For the 2022 event, Stephanie Kilgast created the multimedia piece Rainbow Mushrooms, depicting bright mushrooms 'growing' from a discarded plastic bottle. This theme is present in her other works, including the imagery of colorful organic materials forming on manufactured items.

Stephanie Kilgast: transforming trash into art
Sculptor Stephanie Kilgast.
The problem of environmental pollution is of great concern to the public. People all over the world strive to minimize damage to the environment. Everyone does their own thing: they sort garbage every day in order to send it for recycling; refuse to use materials that take a long time to decompose. And artists make their contribution to preserving the environment. One of them is the French sculptor Stephanie Kilgast. With her talented hands, the girl transforms garbage into works of art and makes original compositions based on empty cans.

(work in progress)
After looking at Stephanie Kilgast , i decided to decorate the clay bottle rather than plastic. When i found the yellow buoy when beach combing , goose barnacle's were living inside , which prompted the muscles idea. I reversed the idea of the ocean being overwhelmed with plastic , as now the plastic is being overwhelmed by the bio life of the ocean .i had originally planned to embellish the bottle with plastic, how ever i decide on clay for the muscle forms as i could control the shape better. I want this piece to look like its been in the ocean for a long while .

Looking at sculpting techniques - Stephanie Kilgast
Very informational and cute video on how to add detail to amazing bugs and really cool look into using polymer clay. I like how the coloured are mixed using a pasta maker and how their little caterpillar mouths look. It was shown in a very simple way and makes the whole process of making a bug that much easier. Makes me consider using polymer in the future, discards the painting process. Also love how she added wrinkles, makes them look realistic.
