Tumblr media
Mahbubnagar, Telangana, October 1, 2023 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several transformative projects worth more than Rs 13,500 crore in Mahbubnagar, Telangana. These projects spanned various sectors, including roads, railways, petroleum, natural gas, and higher education. During the event, the Prime Minister also launched a train service via video conferencing. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the festive season's arrival and emphasised the significance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, recently passed in Parliament, which celebrates the spirit of Shakti Puja ahead of Navratri. The Prime Minister expressed his delight in inaugurating road connectivity projects that promise to transform the region. Notably, the Nagpur-Vijayawada Economic Corridor is expected to enhance transportation and trade across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra. This initiative is set to boost trade, tourism, and industry in these states, with key economic hubs, including eight Special Economic Zones, five Mega food parks, four fishing seafood clusters, three pharma and medical clusters, and one textiles cluster identified along the corridor. This development is anticipated to create numerous opportunities for the youth in districts like Hanamkonda, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Khammam. Prime Minister Modi stressed the importance of rail and road connectivity for landlocked Telangana, allowing goods manufactured in the state to reach ports efficiently. Several significant economic corridors pass through Telangana, connecting the state to the East and West Coasts. The Suryapet-Khammam section of the Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam corridor is expected to facilitate this connectivity, as well as reduce logistics costs for industries and businesses. Additionally, the railway line construction between Jaklair and the Krishna section will be a vital development for the region. During the event, Prime Minister Modi announced the establishment of the National Turmeric Board by the Central Government, aimed at benefiting turmeric farmers in Telangana. This board will focus on enhancing value addition within the supply chain and improving infrastructure for farmers. Turning his attention to the energy sector, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government's commitment to securing energy for both industries and households. He cited the substantial increase in the number of LPG cylinders, from 14 crores in 2014 to 32 crores in 2023, as well as recent reductions in gas prices. The Hassan-Cherlapalli LPG Pipeline Project, a critical component of energy security in the region, was inaugurated during the event. Additionally, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Multiproduct Petroleum Pipeline, which will run from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad, creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs in Telangana. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated multiple buildings at the Hyderabad Central University, which has been granted the status of an 'Institution of Eminence' by the Central Government. He announced the establishment of a Central Tribal University in Mulugu district, named after the revered tribal goddesses Sammakka-Sarakka, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 900 crore. He congratulated the people of Telangana for this. The event was attended by dignitaries including Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, and Member of Parliament Bandi Sanjay Kumar, among others. Highlights                                                                                                                                                                                                                  As part of efforts to enhance modern road infrastructure across the country, multiple road projects were initiated during the event. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for key road projects within the Nagpur-Vijayawada Economic Corridor, including a 108 km long 'four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam section of NH-163G' and a 90 km long 'four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada section of NH-163G.' These projects, with a combined cost of approximately Rs 6400 crores, are expected to reduce travel distances and improve connectivity. A road project, 'four laning of 59 km long Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB,' was also dedicated to the nation. Built at a cost of about Rs 2,460 crore, this project is part of the Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Corridor under Bharatmala Pariyojana. White Temple, Golden Triangle and Longneck Ladies
Today the ass crack of dawn was a real son of a bitch. We were up and out the door heading to meet Maggie's parents at their hotel for the start of our Chiang Rai tour day by 7 am. It hurt. We stopped at 7-11, of which there are a million here, for a less than classy breakfast and to stock up on snacks before we left. Our guide picked us up as well as a few others around 7:30 and we were off. Our guide called himself "Tik Tik" and he was a really friendly guy with plenty of insights to offer about the things we saw and the drug history of the country. Drugs seemed to have to do with almost the entire tour that was to come. The first stop was at a hot springs after an hour and a half of driving. 105 degree water shooting out of the ground and the locals were using it to boil eggs. Nicely done. 15 minutes to scope and we were herded back into the van after shooing a cat out of the wheel arches so we could leave. Next up was my favourite spot of the day, the White Temple. 2nd most beautiful temple in the world apparently. It was really impressive. Built by an artist as an ongoing work, it was all white short of a few buildings coloured yellow for the monks and tourists. The visuals were gorgeous and really striking from all angles. Inside the main temple, there were paintings on all sides involving all kinds of subject matter including batman and pikachu for some reason. Apparently to showcase to the future what our generation held dear. Ouch. You had to walk over a bridge surrounded by the artists take on hell, with out stretched hands grabbing at the air before reaching "heaven" in the main temple. It was definitely an experience. That said, because it was white, there were a few rules that were pretty simple. The main one being: Don't touch anything. Tough to muck that up. Yet nearly everyone did. Mainly Asian tourist after Asian tourist touched a ton of shit. I couldn't believe it. You'll see some pretty stupid things at nearly every temple you go to but this one seemed especially ridiculous. After that, herded again back into the bus to drive another 2 hours to the Golden Triangle. This bit was a river tour where we went out to a tiny island between Thailand, Laos and Myanmar where they used to trade opium and heroin for gold back in the day. Apparently this was still going on up until 70 years ago. After that, we headed down the river a bit for a quick visit to Laos. It was a very different feeling than Thailand. We were greeted at the dock by begging children and were watched over by our guides to avoid pick pockets. They had whiskey with snakes or scorpions in the bottle and cigarette packets for sale on nearly every table. It also seemed to be pretty grim with regard to how they treat animals here. There was a monkey on a chain attached to a statue for no reason. Laos is a less economically strong country and their people are much poorer, which accounts for a lot of this but the big thing that stuck out was how much advantage of that the Chinese were taking here. They have built 2 casinos already here and are funding their own air strip with a hotel for their people to use. The main reason being that this part of Laos is a special economic zone which means they charge no tax on anything here. It all seemed pretty shady. This is a stark difference from Thailand as gambling isn't allowed at all short of lottery tickets which only Thai people can win. Basically taking money wherever they find it in Laos. It was pretty sad. Once we left Laos, they took us up to see the Longneck hill tribe. These people escaped from Myanmar and China to Thailand ages ago due to political problems and wars. This tribe adds rings around the necks of the women throughout their lives every few years to lengthen the neck and differentiate them from women in other tribes. The rings can be quite heavy later in life, usually 4-6 kilograms. The parents of the tribes have decided to give their children the choice whether they would like to continue practicing the ring tradition, and so the elderly women may be the last of the generations carrying the rings on their necks. We learned that the rings weight actually push down the shoulders instead of pushing up the neck so they can continue to live once the rings are removed. It was surprising what this village in the mountains was like. It was all very primitive, made of wood and leaves mostly but they also had solar panels in several locations to run some electric devices. A few ladies even had iPhones. It was a very interesting mix. Tomorrow a relaxed day and maybe some karaoke, if we can find it.

A Mere 35 years ago,Shenzhen was just a fishing village clinging to the coast. But then it was chosen to become the first of China's special economic zoned under Deng Xiaoping. Shenzhen population went from just 35,000 inhabitants to more than 10.5 million in just 20 years. It is also called as the gadget capital of the world. Most of the manufacturing of electronics item happens in this very city. It is more likely that the phone you are using has parts from Shenzhen 😅 #development #city #shenzhen #fishingvillage #manufacturing #electronicshub #cityofdreams #fastestgrowingcity #china #manufacturingcapital #miracle #dengxiaoping #economics #specialeconomiczone #cityscape https://www.instagram.com/p/BqKWKSsHw2Y/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1gakkxo6uuqs2
