I'm not trying to argue that Velvet and Veneer's parents were horrifically awful, but there is something to be said about how they raised two children who both turned out materialistic and disrespectful. I'm including Veneer in the conversation because I feel that the idea that he was a stand-up individual who was manipulated downplays that he was genuinely rude without being prompted (and not to mention that it's noted in the official art book that he's naturally a terrible person who is also self-aware and capable of feeling remorse). Despite Velvet never being seen with her parents as a teenager, it's clear that she had needed mental health help for a while, given that it's implied that the behavior went back many years as seen in a flashback. The act of screaming at someone without provocation and breaking things in that one flashback scene by itself is a clear sign that she was struggling in some way. Especially considering that she specifically yelled "Stop attacking me", which I found to be interesting as a dialogue choice. I'd like to note that some mental health warning signs are overlooked in young girls due to the perception that they're more unreasonable when compared to young boys. This topic is something very personal to me given that I'm AFAB and had some clear mental health symptoms overlooked in my teenage years because of this specific reasoning that I was supposed to be extremely overemotional and moody but was an indicator of something serious.

Essay aside, I'm trying to say that while they could've given Velvet and Veneer everything they could've wanted, they could've also not been attentive to the psychological needs of their children. Because while it's great to satisfy a child's physical needs and wants, it's a disservice to not prepare them emotionally to be a functioning member of society and not meet their mental needs.

Everyone likes to put Zhongli as this calculative, thoughtful and strategic character which is valid but I raise you absent-minded Zhongli.

He is someone who thinks a lot about stuff so much there are rare times he has his head in the clouds. I mean as an immortal he has a lot of time and patience to come up and formulate these thoughts, so I wont be surprised if he stares down going hmmm occasionally like he does in one of the cutscenes preparing the perfume offerings for the statue.

This is canon. Head up in the clouds kinda thing. To be fair I am also like that lol but at least I try to explain my thought process to ppl prob because I learn to uhh communicate properly coughcough.

Then at some point when paimon goes quick zhongli use your high society trivia knowledge to fix this contraption!! And zhongli responds with “hmm you seem to think of me as some sort of bourgeois parasite whose only utility lies in providing quaint pieces of trivia on demand.”

Hence cultured Zhongli but also dumbass Zhongli. Dear god. As much as I like this character he also frustrates me at times with what he says at times cus HE AINT GETTING TO THE FUCKING POINT IN ANSWERING ME, even tho I can relate to his character a lot. This session of translyrics shall feature notes as opposed to the usual alternative translyrics! Because I didnt really have any alternative translyrics this time around, lol.

NOTE 1: The lines “(Yeah! Hah!)” and “(Come on now!)” are based primarily on speculation of what I heard in the original video, it actually did not provide subtitles for those. I just felt it was worthwhile, something WAS sang here, lol.

Ive come to recognize the possibility of “(Get away now!)”...? But contextually, that doesnt make too much sense? Theres an extra syllable, so “(Come on now!)” cant be it exactly, but...ahh, jotted down, at least!

Ive settled on the idea that its probably “(Get with me now!)” fitting the syllables and the context. Ive considered the idea of “(Get on me now!)” but thats, uhh. Raunchy. “(Get with me now!)” kind of fits the persuading tone as well as...Till wants to get with Mizi, lol. The prior “(Come on now!)” has been edited accordingly, but is immortalized here, just for thought process demonstration, lol.

NOTE 2: The last line, “Can’t refuse this, take this overdose.” Ultimately, this line is pretty ambiguous in the original captions (”Can’t refuse, overdose”), so I opted to maintain the ambiguity. You could easily do, “Can’t refuse me,” or “Can’t refuse, so take this overdose” but former took away the ambiguity (and also added vibes that could make Till sound WEIRD, considering his obsession with Mizi), and I think the “this, take this” was a bit of fun wordplay and matched the rhythm a bit better.

I enjoy the ambiguity because you COULD attribute the line to Till himself, but you could also apply the line to how Till and the other contestants cant refuse their situations in Alien Stage. So I personally enjoy the interpretation of, “[I, Till,] Cant refuse this [Alien Stage], take this overdose [him securing his win by all means, even killing someone and shocking the audience].” The whole point is that THE ALIENS CANT REFUSE HIS WIN AT THIS POINT. Its an overdose, an excessive action, its a backlash to his oppressors. Theyre forcing him to play? Hes going to play and win in every way (survival and gratification).

The “Can’t refuse this, take this overdose” also gives the sense that Till CHOSE this action as opposed to “Can’t refuse, so take this overdose” having the feel of responding in a hopeless and helpless manner. Theres just more POWER in the former, so that was that, haha. Thank you for listening to my TEDtalk!

my beef with them saying that “it’s completed” and that the “writers have since moved on to other stories” is that like i genuinely seriously think that they were producing an il3 or planning to ... like even if i were not delusional .. i would be really surprised if they actually never had plans to continue bc they made 1) that bonus ilb scene, 2) jocelyn’s new model and 3) a vague set up for a third book ! 

so my personal belief is they had to stop making it bc of either 1) creative differences, 2) other books became “all hands on deck” and prioritized, or though i doubt it 3) ilb just didn’t do as well as they wanted to garner a sequel since it’s less played . STILL . other games go through troubled development and get shelved for a while before coming back so i’m hoping that’s it’s less they gave up on it and more they’ll revisit it again when they have a more solid plot :”(

Ffffffffff I love them

yessss I love them too!! I’m gonna just rant a little about the stuff I developed while designing them, if you don’t mind okay here I go feel free to ignore this if you don’t care~

Pepper: She’s the shortest but definitely the leader of the squad. She’s got a really loud and demanding kind of voice and she LOOOVES to use it haha. She’s also very passionate about dance and does ballet when she’s not roughing up the town with her friends. (I picked that design because the ballet shoes kinda look like a rat tail going down her leg ayyy, at least to me they do haha.) She likes to grow her hair really long and she kinda wants to grow it past her feet, but she also doesn’t like tying it back so she’s a tad conflicted (because nobody wants their hair to drag on the ground), but she’ll cross that bridge when she gets to it. She’s generally active and pretty fit, but her favorite form of delinquency is graffiti because she gets a kick out of watching the owners of the buildings have to wash it off. She got her uhh I guess “street name” because her friends describe her personality as “Spicy” lol

Pudding: She’s much shyer and friendlier than Pepper (and PJ), which is why they call her Pudding haha. She’s sweet and kind of a pushover, but she’s also very protective of her friends. She’s really talented with knives, though she hardly gets the chance to use them because pulling knives on people usually gets the cops called and they don’t want that. Though she really likes slashing tires in the middle of the night and stealing candy from the convenience stores in town. When she’s not running around with her buddies, she’s VERY very smart and really enjoys math and science (mostly math, though). She likes tutoring little kids and stuff, but if she has to tutor someone who isn’t willing to put in the work, she gets fed up really fast because she doesn’t see it as That Hard or that big of a deal.

PJ: (PJ’s a trans girl hello yes please, just thought I’d throw that in there.) PJ is the only one whose nickname isn’t actually that exciting haha, she literally just shortened her first and middle name into PJ. She’s kinda snarky and a bit overdramatic if anything ever goes wrong, but she’s also really quick and agile. Her lankiness does NOT maker her awkward at all, which is what everyone assumes. She’s kind of a walking meme, but also gets angry the easiest. She’s a little entitled so if she doesn’t get her way (unless it’s because Pepper Said So) then she’ll get pissy and bitter and maybe try to fist fight someone. She’s pretty good at pickpocketing, so she really likes taking people’s jewelry/money/accessories and then pawning off the items for More Money. Outside of being a delinquent she’s particularly crafty and likes using her hands. She’s pretty talented at things like woodshop and mechanic type things and she’s good at troubleshooting.
