when the P2 needs disciplined it refuses to do anything till you discipline it. when Briar is pouting, she'll eat food AND play games! she did fairly good at the bump game and then went right back to pouting.
gonna consider this a marigold moment even tho she's not taking a bath--her attention symbol is lit up while she's doing smth else, PLUS she's ringotchi. attention symbol + ringotchi = automatic marigold, marigold is now every ringotchi forever.

Choose the next hazbin tamagotchis + physical cards maybe ?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So on the card that I used to make the adam tamagotchi there is 3 more character slots
The card has a rainbow/cloud /sky theme so I'd like to keep it heaven themed.
What characters would you like to have as a tamagotchi? You can pick your 3 favorites and comment them under this post
Characters that could fit could be :
-Lute (masked or unmasked ?)
-Emily
-Sera
-St peter
-redeemed pentious
-Molly
-lucifer as angel? (before falling) (I guess this would be more a fanon design, since it's not shown in much detail in the show)
-or another one that you think could fit the heaven theme
If I can replace everything in this card I could release it as a full mod /ready to use smacard , and if people enjoy it we could make a hell one too !

Rambling about Digimon DIMs & Tama Smart Cards that only will appeal to like 5 people here; wanted to get it out of my head, idk.
NGL, I'm kinda salty about the Tama Ticket stuff. But not in the way you probably expect. Salty because, damn, wish it had been like this for the Digimon Vital Bracelet. At every turn Digimon has sort of felt like a test for just Tamagotchi, who then got the "better" stuff, in a way. The first release of the Vital Bracelet was super rocky (given DIM memory/watch locks & charging), but then barely the next year, we got the Smart which was 100% better in those regards, & SmaCards seemed to do more. No watch ID locks or those issues that I am aware of. We later got the Vital Bracelet -V-, which improved some aspects which seemingly should have been there from the start, but again, the Smart seemed more advanced with what sort of thing they were trying to do with it (battery, interaction, sounds, etc), mechanics there aside. (On that note, god, why is the battery life fucking phenomenal on the Uni compared to the VB in every iteration? Lord.)
Now we're to the Uni with the Tickets, & the Vital Bracelet (And Hero, etc) have pretty much been failures because each iteration did not really add anything other than more characters. Battery life was sort of meh each wave, & it's not like we get to care for them in the same means as Tamagotchi. It still baffles me that they didn't try a similar thing with that, such as having your Digimon react & talk to you when you went out walking IRL. Instead we had an extremely limited exercise mission system that still felt like an afterthought in each wave of device, from the original VB to the Hero. From the start, despite BOTH IPs being a "care for a little guy" franchise, Tamas had so much more going on with their watch toys released around the same time? So- going back to the Tickets, which, functionally are the same as the Smart Cards or DIM Cards, just in a far more convenient means of getting them than physical, limited cards (note how for the entire time they were a thing, DIM cards suffered from reading issues & supply issues). And no damn watch locks with this. Unsure if you could share codes or even use them across multiple watches you own, but we'll see.
Just. Idk. It feels like Digimon sometimes is just a sort of throw-away IP for Bandai to test out things for other, better-selling IPs sometimes & I get frustrated at what could have been for Digimon.

Tamagotchi 4U Review
It's finally here! The review of 4U. I have to admit - I never thought I would own this model. I randomly found a basically unused Tama on a Facebook group for a ridiculously low price (the seller had no idea how much that little buddy is worth.) And every time I look at my Tama shelf, I thank myself for following through with this deal. Sometimes all you need is luck!
General score: 7/10
Design
First off, I really love the shell design. I have the white shell - when I saw the offer, I didn't actually know what was the shell choice in this model. After checking out the other designs, I believe that the one I have is totally the best. I love everything about it - it's very minimalistic and the golden ring around the silver faceplate looks amazing. The faceplate is under a thick layer of plastic, making the silver shimmer with depth. The plastic is very easy to remove, so customisation is very common with this model. I think it's a cool feature.
The buttons are placed shallowly in the faceplate. I love them - they are super responsive and you need very little strength to click them, as opposed to Meets, where the buttons hide deep in the toy and demand more force. They give this slight, pleasant resistance - to me, clicking them is just a nice sensation.
Tumblr media
The back of the toy is flat. That's linked to the connection feature, which I will talk about more later. I like that shape a lot - the Tama doesn't spin around when you put it down and doesn't get as many scratches at the back. It's stable and you can play with it while it's resting on the desk.
The most important one is the NFC system. 4U doesn't use infrared - instead, there is a special touch place at the back of the toy. There used to be touch spots around Japan that allowed you to download new content. You can connect your Tama to other ones by touching their backs.
2. Unique mechanics
There were a few Touch Cards released. They contain new content, including unique characters. It's basically like an older version of Tama SmaCards for Smart. I never really considered getting one because the additional stuff wasn't really up my alley (especially the designs of the new characters - I don't like Tamas based on humans, which was the case with some collaboration cards.)
4U includes the 4 petal clover element from previous Japanese releases. Each character has a favourite meal, item and accessory. The 4th petal is earned once you have the adult character for 48 hours.
Skills are another feature characteristic for this model. There are 3 basic skills and 5 school ones. The basic skills are using the bathroom, bathing and cleaning the house. They can be earned only as a child, which is quite difficult, considering how quickly the characters in 4U become adults. The school skills are: invention, fashion, sports, art and cooking. As an adult you can go to school, where you get them. You need items associated with those skills (experiment set, sewing kit, ball, clay and frying pan) and the notebook to be able to participate in the classes. The amount of times you need to attend the class to get the skill depends on your character.
The last thing worth mentioning are the guests in the garden. They visit only when your character is an adult. The garden option isn't very elaborate, however from time to time either a seller or guest will come around. If it's the seller, you can get unique items in a good price. If it's a guest, they will ask you for help with some projects. Being able to help them depends on your school skills. If you have the skill they need, they will give you a whooping 1000 gotchi points. Considering how little you can get from the games, that's a great deal.
3. Characters and growth cycle
And here we have probably the biggest bummer of this model, something that didn't let me give it a higher score. There is no teen stage.
...what now?
Yeah. Your Tamagotchi will go from child straight to an adult. The growth cycle is very short. You barely have the time to teach your pet the 3 basic skills. If you're a fan of the younger stages, you'll be bothered by that, for sure.
On the other hand, every character has secret evolution stages obtained by special care or performing some actions/using items etc. To me, it's more of an additional fun thing, rather than a fair replacement of the teen stage, especially since the secret stages are temporary and can be reversed.
There aren't that many characters to obtain in general. Maybe the original idea was that the downloadable content will compensate for that, but once the cards stopped being sold and the touch spots were gone from Japan, we're left with a quite poor model (in terms of evolution.)
All in all, I think that the removal of the teen stage was a big mistake. It's probably my biggest issue with 4U.
Tumblr media
4. Games
There are only 3 games included. Two of them are in the Game Centre, and one in the park.
The Game Centre games are Bowling and Spaceship. They are easy and quick. Winning them gives you 200 gotchi points. I have to mention that the Spaceship game has a beautiful background. A real work of pixel art.
The park game is longer, but it makes your Tama lose a lot of weight. You need to follow the dance sequence by pressing the right buttons. Watch out - at some point you will need to use a combo of 2 buttons. Start pressing them when the "Push" icon shows on the screen - if you do it too early, it will be counted as a mistake, leading to losing the game.
I wish there were more games. I often have this problem with the colour-screen Tamas - they seem a bit lazy when it comes to the minigames. The exception is Pix, of course. That one is actually great. Here? Not that entertaining, still quite alright.
5. Aesthetics
As I've mentioned in the "Design" section, I love the outside appearance of this model. And I have to admit that 4U looks great also when it comes to the screen!
You can easily tell that it's an older colour-screen Tama, with less detailed animations and character designs, but it's not any sort of issue - the animations are still very pretty and the characters are fun. I love the design of the basic room. Though there are wallpapers you can buy, I always stick to the basic one due to how cosy it looks.
You can give your Tama accessories, both clothes and head coverings. However, that works only on adults in their basic form - the special stages can't wear anything.
Due to the amount of official and fan-made faceplates and other accessories, 4U is very customisable. So if you're into this sort of fun, it's a good model to choose.
An important thing to note is how vivid the screen colours are. The quality of the screen is amazing - the shapes are sharp and even the background patterns are vibrant. 4U is perfect for taking photos of what's going on the screen. I'd say that it's super photogenic, which is not the case with Pix that has a softer screen that need a proper lighting.
Generally, 4U is so pretty that sometimes I play with it just for the sake of looking at it.
6. Battery life
Not much to say here. It's good. This model isn't as involving as e.g. Pix or Meets, so you rather won't be spending that much time actively playing with it. That means long periods between battery change/recharge. As always, I recommend AAA rechargeable batteries.
7. Conclusion
Tamagotchi 4U seems like a solid product to me. Not my favourite when it comes to gameplay, but still very nice. I like it a lot. Good choice if you don't have that much time to spend playing with your pet - it's easy to take care of them (and if you manage to teach your Tama how to use the bathrooms, you won't even have to worry about cleaning up after them.)
The biggest weakness is the growth cycle, but if you don't care that much about having a varied choice of pets, I consider it a decent and fun Tamagotchi.

I really really wanted the En-Tama and Kei-Tama SmaCards butttt they're selling for $150+ (on eBay, JYW, Mercari....everywhere 😥) soooooo I got these copies from an enterprising entrepreneur 🏴‍☠️ for $18 each on eBay 😏
(stickers added by moi 😘)
I am a firm supporter of 🏴‍☠️; especially when brands want to sell extremely limited editions that they know scalpers buy up and charge outrageous prices for. Fuck that noise! I've spent a lot of money with Bandai over the years (via the Smart specifically 👀), and it's disappointing that they couldn't be bothered to make the cards more readily available.
I'll support 🏴‍☠️ but never scalpers 🖕🏿

HAPPY TAMAVERSARY! Smart Anniversary Party Set
It's November 23, so you know what that means...new Anniversary Tamagotchi to celebrate the market release date of the original Tamagotchi 26 years ago! Once again we have a Smart set, though it's a bit more lavish and readily available than last years.
To recap, last year the white Tamagotchi Smart was available via lottery on Bandai's exclusive shopping site Premium Bandai and shipped at the very end of August 2022 (close to 3 months before the general release of the coral pink, mint green, and NiziU versions). It includes the 1997 Friends TamaSma Card that lets you raise 4 classic characters (Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, Nyorotchi, Oyajitchi) in their 1996 monochrome pixel stylings along with playing the good old "Left or Right" game. Come to think of it, I wrote a post about the unboxing!
Anyway, this year's theme is Anniversary Party, plus it's available at general retail so more fans will be able to get their hands on it. Let's see how it looks next to last year's package.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IT'S BIG! The added length and depth comes entirely from the character book added as a bonus. (For those who've never opened a Smart, it's a VERY tight fit in there!)
Tumblr media
On one side of the package you've got your special artwork...last year's mimicked the original P1 Japanese packaging, while this year's features a big old party with cake, balloons, plus all the Smart adults and the 10 included on the TamaSma Card, including Ginjirotchi who was picked by fans in a poll a few months back! This year's is much more in line with the modern Tamagotchi branding...I personally remain a fan of the classics.
Time to look inside!
Tumblr media
Character Special Book? Check. Anniversary Party TamaSma Card? Check. Smart unit and wristband? Check. Instruction booklet and charging cable? Check and check. (Between my Vital Bracelets and my Smarts I'm swimming in these tiny cables!)
Now let's get a look at the actual unit.
Tumblr media
Oh that is SPARKLY! A gorgeous glittery gradient makes up the "faceplate", with the new Tamagotchi logo screened in white on the clear cover. Matched with the purple of the unit it's a true visual treat.
Tumblr media
Taking a look at the unit without the wristband, it's an opaque cool purple shell. I'd call it closer to periwinkle than lilac if we're going by Crayola crayon colors. The printed buttons around the Home button aren't a perfect color match, having a bit more red to them. It bothers me a bit but honestly I'm so busy staring at the sparkles I doubt I'll care much once this review is gone.
The wristband itself has a jelly-like opacity to it and feels a little firmer than the standard strap. The clasp is a slightly darker purple that matches the unit's Home button, and features no printing.
As for the Special Character Book...?
Tumblr media
It's a bit smaller than the books that have been released so far. I thought it would be similar to the character introduction section of January's "Special Book", but it's actually BETTER!
Tumblr media
While the Special Book used the blue-outline "modern" art for classic characters up until the Connection series, this book uses the original artwork from "back in the day". Pixels and personality galore! Plus they have full rosters for Angel, Garden, Ocean, Devil, and Yasashii, which were only covered briefly in the special book.
Tumblr media
PLUS it's got character descriptions for EVERYONE, even the funky dudes who were exclusive to Data CardDass cards and random town residents who I'm not sure have ever been featured like this before!
All non-collab (NiziU, Sanrio, Molcar, One Piece, Pixar) SmaCard characters are included up to September's Magical Change as well. (The Anniversary Party characters are introduced pretty early on, plus they were all in past versions anyway.)
The inner covers also feature past series art including the original package, 20th anniversary art, and more!
I wasn't expecting so much love and care to go into a such a small volume, but I've gotten a real sense that whoever is in charge of Tamagotchi cares greatly about the history of the brand. Professor Banzo and Mika-Chu even give a send-off on the back cover, thanking us for 25 years and hoping we'll continue to stick with them going forward.
Tumblr media
Overall, a great set sure to please even the most nitpicky of fans. Here's to another 25 years!

part of me is curious what would happen if I didn't pet sanjitchi to sleep, but the other part of me would feel evil if Ieft my tama unattended while they were scared in bed. it's dif w, say, leaving the lights on when a tama goes to sleep bc I'm trying to purposely raise a bad care tama since they're sleeping soundly to begin with.
