Tesla--Could Elon Musk's Increasingly Erratic Behavior Be a Prelude to Further Problems at Tesla?
Any Other Board of Directors Would've Found a New CEO for Tesla: Elon Musk has been displaying increasingly erratic behavior both on Twitter and in action. Some of the more controversial behavior--e.g. calling a British rescue diver a pedophileon Twitter--would have led to his removal as CEO by more reasonable boards of directors at other listed companies.
Erratic Tweets & Behavior Lead to a -13% Slump in Tesla's Share Price this Month: What is unnerving to Tesla shareholders is the fact that Musk's questionable tweets and actions have spiked recently (see Chart-1 & Table-1) and they havebegun to increasingly weigh on Tesla's share price, which is down -13% this month.
Musk Muzzles a Tesla Short-Seller from Twitter & Blogs: Musk recently threatened to sue a Tesla short-seller who blogged under the pseudonym "Montana Skeptic". When this blogger--in response to Musk's threats--voluntarily shut down his Twitter account and bid farewell to over 2,000 of his blog readers, Musk tweeted a lewd photo of Miley Cyrus, who used to play the main character inthe Disney series, "Hannah Montana", making fun of the Tesla short-seller even after he stood down.
Five Attacks by Musk This Month Alone: Musk's combative tone towards journalists with a negative view on Tesla or Tesla short-sellers is nothing new, but the escalation of such attacks--there have been five this month alone--make it appear asthoughMusk is starting to really lose his mind--another negative aspect for the share price.
Meanwhile, Tesla Executives Abandoning Ship: What is also alarming is that, as all this is unfolds, the number of executive departures is rising at a faster pace than seen before in Tesla's short history as a car maker (see Chart-2 & Table-2). While there were only 8 departures of senior Tesla executives in 2016, this rose to 14 in 2017 and, so far during the first half of this year, there have already been 11 executive departures.
The walls are closing in on Tesla and Musk might be starting to feel the pressure, which could help explain his recent erratic behavior and the rising exodus of key executives.
Model 3 Might Not Sell in Such High Volumes at Current Price: Muskhas admitted that Tesla cannot profitably sell the affordable version of the Model 3 at a $35,000 price tag, which means that only versions of the Model 3 at the current price levels of around $55,000+ will generate a profit. As we've mentioned before, this will immediately reduce the addressable market for the Model 3 by around -80%, from 10.6m units (the US market size for cars priced between $25,000 to $49,999)to 1.85m units (the market for cars priced between $50,000 and $75,000).
Watch Out for Jaguar, Audi, Benz & Porsche: This luxury segment that the Model 3 will now have to compete in will see a flood of competition coming from European car makers such as Jaguar (already on sales in Europe), Audi (from early 2019), Mercedes Benz (2019) and Porsche (2019). All of these models, except maybe Porsche's new EV, should be priced lower than Tesla's EVs. And the higher priced Model 3 is inevitably cannibalizing sales of the Model S, which is already 6 years into its model cycle.
China & Norway Sales on a Potentially Long-Term Decline: Tesla exports to China and Norway--its two biggest markets after the US--made up 24% of its global revenues in 2017 and shouldsee a decline in sales this year. In China, new 40% tariffs on cars imported from the US should dampen sales there, while in Norway, Tesla sales appear to be on a decline due to inadequate servicing (too many Teslas; not enough repairmen).
Market Not Buying Musk's "Profitable Q3 & Q4" Story: While Elon Musk has vowed to generate profits and free cash flow in Q3 and Q4, the market appears to be saying "show me the money!", at least from a stock price perspective. Our concern is that, once Tesla blows through the reservations for the higher priced versions of the Model 3 in Q3 and Q4, it's profitability will undoubtedly suffer thereafter from having to sell lower-priced versions thereafter. And with the competition from rivals in the luxury segment, the Models S & X should face stiff competition, which is alarming as both models generated 115% of Tesla's Q1 gross profit.
Q2 Numbers Should be Horrible--More Conference Call Fireworks? Tesla reports Q2 results on August 1st and we expect some pretty nasty numbers. While revenues should have surged by +55% YoY to $3.5bn, we expect operatinglosses of -$627m (versus consensus estimates of-$368m), which would be up not only year-over-year, but also slightly worse than Q1's OP loss of -$597m. Analysts on the conference call will be highly focused on Model 3 net reservation numbers, which are rumored to be falling. We fear such questions could provoke further combativeness on Musk's part, which would be negative for the share price.

International Women's Day: Ratna Singh, a Safaris Specialist
Ratna Singh, a Safaris Specialist works for Wilderness Hospitality,Training & Conservation. She is an amateur photographer and writer too.
Ratna is, in her own words,
"Wilderness lover, health freak, spiritual, reader and amateur writer. Part time cook and housekeeper."
On International Women's Day, Ratna says,
"Personally I find it hard to answer this. I have never really felt that being a woman stopped me from doing anything. So, women’s day I think just provides another platform to remind ladies of the potential they have. "
On Celebrating this occasion, she says,
"In the jungle and rural areas there isn’t such a buzz about Women’s day as in the city. If am in the jungles, it’s like any other day, except I invite a few of my village lady friends and we have a cup of tea together.
"If am in the city, I will usually shop, as there are quite a few stores offering goodies and discounts etc. Or salons offering special treatments- so it’s really nice to get a haircut or a bit of pampering. On a serious note, I think it’s great that women have a ‘day’, but what is more important is that they be given equal opportunities. For women, something to dwell on is, that they must take equal opportunity as a birth right."
Talking about the Women in this Changing world,
"While women are definitely more visible in diverse fields now, I feel the emergence of ladies as world leaders and opinion makers shouldsee a steady. Besides, I personally believe in the Ancient Indian concept of Ardhnarishwar; the concept of masculine and feminine energies being incomplete without the other. Each woman contains portions of masculine power, while each man also possesses sensibilities of compassion and kindness, so each human is both to have a balance a whole. "
Women in Education Sector,
"I’m distressed to say that in rural areas there still is a disparity between education of the girl and boy child. This definitely affects the national average as more than half the population are rural dwellers. The more ladies coming forward to teach, the more likely the rural girls will stay in school longer."

11 Mind-Bending Optical Illusions That Will Totally Play Tricks On You
There are so many times I feel like my eyes are playing tricks on me, but when it comes to the optical illusions below, I know they’redefinitely trying to pull a fast one.
It’s so freaky how something can morph right in front of our face without really changing at all! Of course, it’s a lot of fun, too. I remember spending hours with my face scrunched up and staring at Magic Eyebooks that were popular back in the day, eagerly trying to unscramble the hidden image.
The strange thing about most of the optical illusions below, on the other hand, is how little effort it takes foryour eyes to adjust and transform the images in no time.
Have you ever been stumped by any of these tricky photos?Let us know in the comments which one was your favorite or if we missed the best one you’ve found.
And don’t forget to SHARE the fun optical illusionswith your friends!

1. Distorted Lattice
Wikimedia Commons / Perditax
The lines are all straight, but because of the black and white marks on the edges, the image appears warped.
2. After Image
Wikimedia Commons / Dimitri Parant
Stare at the white dot in the center of the portrait for 30 seconds, then close your eyes and you shouldsee a picture perfect image of a certain celebrity whose initials happen to be M.J.
3. Motion Blindness
Wikimedia Commons / Mlechowicz
As you stare at the blinking green dot in the center, your eyes lose track of the yellow dots despite them always being there.
4. Rotating Snakes
Wikimedia Commons / Cmglee
Nope, this isn’t a GIF of moving circles your eyes are doing that all on their own with the stationary photo. The more you look around from circle to circle, the more they appear to spin.
5. Swimming Red Seeds
Wikimedia Commons / Nevit Dilmen
Just like the rotating snakes, this peripheral drift illusion isn’t at all, just seems to be making waves as you move your eyes across it.
6. Silencing Hue
Wikimedia Commons / Jordan Suchow
After staring at the white dot in the center for a few seconds, you’ll notice the brightly colored dots start to fade. If you can hold your eyes long enough, they might seem like they’re disappearing completely.
7. Leaning Between Columns
Wikimedia Commons / Diarb2008
Do you see the silhouettes between these columns? They look like people leaning in to shares secrets to me!
8. Disappearing Pink Dots
Wikimedia Commons / Jahobr
As you focus on the black dot in the center, the pink ones will appear to turn bright green before seeming to fade awayaltogether.
9. Dissociating Circle
Wikimedia Commons / Nevit Dilmen
If you’re on a phone or tablet, move the image on your device from left to right to see the circle dissociate from the surrounding rectangle.
10. Color Illusion
Wikimedia Commons / Mike Young
The pink paper in the top images appears to be brighter than that on the bottom, but its just the background colors throwing your eyes off they are both exactly the same shade of pink.
11. Blind Spot
Wikimedia Commons / RobinH
Close your right eye and focus on the cross with your left, then move your head and see when the circle disappears.
Do the same with your left eye closed and focus on the circle to see the cross disappear.
Did we miss any optical illusions that have tricked you in the past? Let us know below and be sure to SHAREthese fun images with your friends!

The Truth About Water Weight Loss - How to Lose Weight Fast has been published on Find and Select Business Reviews

The Truth About Water Weight Loss - How to Lose Weight Fast
Water weight loss is not an effective methodof losing weight.
It actually is a waste of time as water weight fluctuates on a dailybasis depending on a number of factors.
Why focus on water weight loss when it will neverlead to permanent results.
You see, water is something that changes based on how muchfood you ate, whether the food was water soluble or not, if you ate any laxatives, your activitylevel, how much you sweat, how much salt you eat, and a number of other factors.
In addition, water is something you should be trying to get as much of to stay hydrated and healthy.
Losing weight from water is a complete waste of time.
Unfortunately, many of the extreme weightloss methods out there focus on water weight loss and people fall for the weight they seedropping.
Fat Loss and How to Use Your Focus You should instead focus on fat loss as thesolution to losing weight.
Fat loss is more permanent and not as likely to go up and downon a daily basis.
If you are successfully following a fat burning diet then you shouldsee consistent fat loss per week that doesn't rise and fall like water.
To lose fat youdo need to cut calories but not a drastic amount.
Fat loss is more about being consistentwith a small cut in calories and also exercising, if possible.
When focusing on water weightloss you can lose around ten to twenty pounds in a week but this number is very unreliable.
You could just as easily gain that weight back.
And you didn't actually lose any fat!So what is the point? Instead, focus on burning fat and actually getting your body in shape.
Losing water is not going to result in having a set of six pack abs nor is it going to makeyou get rid of cellulite.
It will only get rid of water.
End of story.
Fat loss is not as hard as people try to makeit out to be.
It is more about being motivated to stay on a diet that requires multiple monthsof commitment.
This is why people rush to the quick fix solutions that only result inwater weight.
They see drops on the scale and think that it's working.
However, it isusually all just water weight loss and nothing more.

Maestra
[3 stars]
I never expected that, after seeing The Conductor, that my movie paths would cross again with Marin Alsop. But she is one of the judges in this documentary about the only all-female conductor competition, La Maestra. Knowing her story adds a lot to this docu.  First-time director Maggie Contreras follows several up-and-coming woman conductors as they vie for the top title and a chance to change their careers and lives irrevocably.
For all the emotion and nicely suspenseful structure of the competition that Contreras gets into the movie, however, she doesn’t quite help us understand why those who won, do. To some degree, I think that was a choice. The results of these competitions are always highly subjective, as we learn from some of the few snippets of feedback we do get to hear. But it shifts the ground on you a little as you watch. So understand that you probably won’t understand the results, but that isn’t the point. The focus is the emotion and the journey, and impact of the competition and the relationships of these women. The story also provides a small peek inside the workings of the music world that you rarely see or hear about.
And if you haven’t seen The Conductor yet, dig it out as well. The two make an interesting and intriguing pairing. Then, if you want to add some fiction on top, seek out Maestro and/or Tár. Neither is perfect as a movie, but with these documentaries as background they make resonant companion pieces.

American Symphony
[3 stars]
Documentaries, particularly highly personal one about an individual or a couple, require a good deal of trust between the filmmaker and the subjects. I don’t know what prompted the effort between Jon Batiste (Soul), Suleika Jaouad, and director Matthew Heineman (A Private War), but it is clear there was almost unparalleled trust between these three during the making of the film. The level of access and intimacy helps set it apart from what are almost always very forced or manipulated views of artists’ lives. It’s easy to understand why it has ended up in the Oscar pot.
I do suspect that the original intent of the docu got subverted by life. But that is something that plays well into the themes and sensibilities of Batiste and Jaouad. Life is an adventure to them, both good and bad. They are inspirational, to be sure, but not without humanity. There is pain and doubt and sorrow. But both have found ways to embrace that and move forward, which is a lot of the ultimate message the movie leaves you with.
The overall impact of the film is positive, but the story it tells feels very incomplete. Both in the telling and the resolution. The latter aspect is almost poetic. Life goes on, after all. But the journey also feels a little brushed over, despite the deeply emotional moments, because the focus is very broad and scattered. That is probably a fair representation of how the couple at the center of it all experienced it, but it makes for a less satisfying outsider experience.
This is a story everyone should probably see. Its message and its reminders of what life is, and can be, hit home. As a film it isn’t what I’d have hoped, but it is an honest piece of work that leaves an impression that sticks with you.
