Daisy

- Often wears leggings under skirts because she climbs stuff a lot.

-Likes Dr Martens

-Has a favourite denim jacket that's absolutely covered in badges.

- Always wears night dresses , hates pyjamas.

- Prefers skirts or dresses to trousers

- Sticks random things into her hair- flowers, sparkly pipe cleaners through her plaits, pretty tissue paper...

- Likes hair clips.

- Likes jewellery ( wears SO MUCH jewellery) and makeup (also helps her to fit in ).

Hazel

- Wears hair pins or clips a lot.

- Prefers jeans but wears skirts sometimes.

- Doesn't wear makeup because of the texture.

- Has a mac that she thinks looks really grown up and loves it.

- Has a pair of heeled boots but everyone teases her because she's still shorter.

- Doesn't wear jewellery (except for bracelets made by Beanie of course)

- Prefers dark colours but will wear bright colours occasionally.

Kitty

- Wears skirts, leggings or jeans, no preference.

- Likes shiny or sparkly hair clips.

- Loves jewellery ( Beanie makes her a lot of bracelets).

- Especially loves earrings, has her ears pierced.

- Likes ballet flats except if it comes off her foot George or Lavinia will kick it so she has to hop to get it ( Beanie goes and gets it anyway).

Beanie

- Doesn't wear makeup ( Kitty tried to do it for her once and it didn't end well).

- Wears stuff with cute animals on it.

- Prefers skirts but likes leggings with oversized jumpers.

- Loves anything woolly or fluffy.

- Has a pair of boots that are fluffy on the inside and LOVES them.

- Wears a lot of bracelets because she loves making them.

- Her and Kitty sometimes add bits onto plain hair clips like paper flowers, so she wears them too.

Lavinia

- Wears Dr Martens

- Likes dark colours.

- HATES skirts and dresses.

- Wears cargo pants.

- Doesn't wear jewellery, except for a friendship bracelet that Beanie made for her.

- No one is allowed to borrow her stuff. No one.

- Doesn't have that many clothes. George and Kitty have made it their mission to get her to go clothes shopping with them.

Amina

- Wears a lot of hoodies.

- Likes skirts and dresses.

- Wears leggings and fluffy boots a lot.

- Always wearing sandals or flip flops in the summer.

- Likes earrings but otherwise doesn't really wear jewellery.

- She regrets this afterwards because Daisy will inevitably get ink on it or something.

Alexander

- Wears jumpers and hoodies all the time but the sleeves are always too short.

- Daisy thinks that this is hilarious.

- Has too many beanie hats because he makes another one if he gets bored ( his gran taught him to knit and crochet).

- He makes a lot of them for Beanie purely because it's called a beanie and she thinks it's really funny.

- Has a lot of pyjamas with cute animals on or patterned- George makes fun of him for this.

- Has a lot of stuff knitted for him from his gran.

George

- His wardrobe is VERY full.

- His dad and Harold keep trying to persuade him to have a clear out but he never does.

- Often doesn't wear what's suitable for the weather ( wears a thin jacket in December).

- Makes impulsive fashion choices that he regrets later ( Daisy has a lot of pictures).

- Has a lot of stuff knitted for him by Alexander.

- Wears bracelets from Beanie.

- Let Daisy paint his nails once and is now trying to get up the courage to ask to borrow her eyeliner.

So, Brenda’s style really reminds me of autumn. She’s not afraid of bright colours, but she definitely prefers more neutral tones for her outfits. CLOTHING MAKES THE (WO)MAN Do their bra and panties match consistently? Yes | No | Not applicable Senritsu is a "its my favorite colour, it fits"-person, so usually bra/bustier and panties fit, because its all some shade of pink even if its not a set. Their clothes are usually… Stained | Raggedy | Like new | Well worn | A oddly source of frustration for Senritsu is that she is too short for moth clothes, so she has to shop occaisonally in the childrens-department. Accordingly if she finds something that fits her and that is not violently cluttered with rhinestones, cartoon-characters, and glitter, she will hold on to it for dear life until it falls appart. Also her trousers and vest are actually craftman-working-cloth, so it is in the sense of the clothes to be worn out for its better to have a hole in the trousers than a saw stuck in your leg.

FINANCES? LET’S SEE How do they handle their money? Blows through the entire paycheck | Sets some money aside, spends the rest as needed over time | Holds onto it as long as possible, spending here and there | Lives past their means As a Hunter Senritsu earns well, insanely well even. However, she also has the same problem as most Hunters: Just because she earns well does not mean that she actually uses the money for herself. Senritsu usually sets money aside for her nieces (unknown to anyone but her older sister) and is giving most of her money to the Art-Museums and Music-schools she had been working for before (well known fact and probably mentioned on her Hunter-Page). How do they handle their bills? Sets aside bill money each cheque | Pays them right away | Pays them last minute | They’re frequently overdue It is not that Senritsu deliberately forgets to pay her bills. she just has a tendency for obsessing over her work when she is working as a Music-Hunter so it is very likely for her to just drop off the end of the knowing world for three months without beeing able to be reached when she is hired to restore an old Music-instrument , or she is tasked to record the singing of a certaine animal in the middle of wilderness far away from any civilisation, so bills are not important compared to that. What are they most likely to buy? Food | Clothes | Hobby supplies | Work supplies | Trinkets | Movies | Games | Bills | Spend it on others (loved ones) | Charity | Books | Alcohol | Drugs | Technology

AN APPLE A DAY How often do they get exercise? Frequently, as a hobby | Frequently, from work | Somewhat, from a hobby | Somewhat, from work | Never Do they drink? Always | Often | Somewhat | On rare occasions | Never Senritsu had not been drunk since the night Ask had played the Sonata of Darkness and she never will be again. Occaisonally she will drink a after-work-beer with Basho or if she feels fancy, she will drink a glass of wine when having a official dinner for work or wth friends. But it will never go over that one beerbottle or wineglass. However, Senritsu has the strict rule that she will not make any big decisions when she has alcohol in her system, so if she is on a date and drinks that wineglass, that date is ending with a kiss on the cheek and nothing more but a pat on the shoulder. Do they do drugs of any kind? Yes | Sometimes | No Her best friend at work is Basho and that guy has probably a degree in chemistry, considering he invented the recipe for "Clean Leaf" and has this recipe on his "Hunter Page" for free usage to make sure his friends (and other people) are not messing with their health while dabbling in drugs. Once a week, when work allowes it Basho packs a poem-book, beer and his fishing-untensils in a bag, tucks Senritsu under one arm and drives with the train to the nearest clean lake where they settle for the day, drink, fish and probably smoke a joint. Do they smoke? Yes | Sometimes | No Cigarett smoke is bad for the voice, Senritsu would not risk that.

EDUCATION MATTERS What education have they reached? None | Elementary/Primary | Middle/Secondary | High/Tertiary | College, bachelors (dependent) | College, masters (dependent) | GDA | Workforce training | Senritsu herself said that "Studying was never her strong suit"- Which obviously for one was thanked to the fact that her undiagnosed Dyslexia in combination with only going to school through online-classes in the first twelve years of her life made school hell for her but also because Senritsu is not doing well in strictly academical learning-enviorments. The highest degree Senritsu has is her "master craftman's certificate" (Meisterbrief) for building wind instruments (although she had teached herself also in other categorys and works in restoring and building any kind of instrument with and for clients), but academically she sat in school until the exact second she turned eighteen and then ran as fast as she could without ever turning back. Metaphorically speaking- the Musicschool on which she had studied from age twelve to eighteen is on the list of her frequent employers, so she did looked back in that manner. Independent study Do they frequently learn new skills? Yes | On occasion | Only as needed | Not usually Senritsu is a very keen student when the topic interests her and it is the nature of her work to always learn more and widen her skillset. In fact, free from school Senritsu is eager to learna s much about her interests as possible and when she is not needed to listen to anyone she usually listens to a audiobook about history, a musicians biography, travel-logs, etc... Omg okay so i was thinking about knight-kasa/ sir mik and this happened lol!!

"Mik," Eren shakes her, irritated she's not paying attention, "Are you even listening to me?" Mikasa nods numbly, yeah she'd been listening right up until he started going on about this new instagram model he's obsessed with, scrolling through her photos obsessively. He's thirsting over this girl and expecting Mikasa to join in.

Mikasa is very suddenly struck by the fact that Eren truly genuinely, deeply considers her to be just one of the guys. It shouldn't be something new to her, they've always been close, best friends since they were little, but it's only dawning on her now that he truly doesn't see her as a girl at all.

She's been a little in love with Eren since she hit puberty and how could she not be, her best friend is really filling out, his voice deep and raspy, the voice of a man now, not an irritating teenaged boy.

She's always kind of known Eren didn't see her that way, but she'd always held out a little hope maybe he'd notice eventually, that it was just puberty hitting him hard that made his hormones skyrocket. That he'd notice her eventually, a grand romantic love story, he'd look over and realize she's been the one all along. But now, as Eren calls her by her rather boyish nickname, "Mik, c'mon she's so hot isn't she, she's got the best tits i've ever seen." Now Mikasa thinks she's not even in the female category in his brain, she's just Mik, one of the guys and as the realization hits her she's appropriately horrified, she needs a moment.

Her mom had always been there to help assure her in her love, telling her one day Eren would notice her and perhaps maybe she's right, maybe in university after this year, he'd realize they're basically dating but without sex, whatever. But Mikasa is tired of waiting and she doesn't want some other girl snapping him up while she sits around.

It's also just a little her fault too.

Not that women need to dress a certain way to be valued, or to be seen as attractive, but Mikasa has taken the idea to an entirely different level and as she stands in her bedroom later staring at herself in the mirror, she wonders if Eren knows she has boobs at all??? His favourite asset of the opposite sex and he has no idea his best friend has a pair. She pouts as she stares at the mountain of clothes on her bed, all outfits she's going to have to retire, but only for a little while, just so maybe she can snag his attention, just for a bit.

She bites her lip, how out of her comfort zone is she going to go? Usually, she prefers ripped jeans and oversized hoodies, usually Eren's if she can steal them and she thinks she looks cute, feminine in the way they swallow her tiny form, a glimpse of her shapely legs, there's nothing wrong with oversized! Nothing wrong with her rather graphic slasher t-shirts and shredded jeans! She likes them, thinks she looks like a badass rocker chick. She just needs a few tattoos to add to the mix and she'll be set.

But as Mikasa goes through her closet, she needs something that will leave 0 doubts in Eren's mind exactly what gender she is, wants him to realize that despite how much of a pain in the ass they are, she actually has the best tits around, not that stupid instagram model! And as Mikasa pulls out the singular push up bra she owns, staring at her breasts in the mirror, she definitely thinks its true, she has a great rack.

So, for the first time in her life that weekend she allows her mother to take her shopping. She's over the moon, and Mikasa gets some quality female bonding time in the form of basically being her mom's barbie for the day. She comes back Saturday afternoon with an outfit she knows is going to make Eren lose his mind, especially since she'd lost her own mind just seeing herself in it, stared at herself in the mirror for 10 minutes. And her mom had assured her, she looked hot.

It's nothing crazy, just a little black dress, tight along all her curves and shorter than anything she's ever worn before, stopping right around mid thigh and with the tiniest spaghetti straps she's ever seen.

She'd asked her mom a little concerned if it would hold up her boobs okay, or if it was too much, to which her mother had laughed, "Isn't that what you want Mikasa, Eren to be staring at them?" Mikasa had turned bright red because well she wasn't wrong.

Mikasa wrestles an oversized jean jacket on to complete her outfit along with some black converse, it's just enough like her typical fashion, but with a few changes, namely the amount of skin she's showing and how perky her boobs look in her dress, how it molds perfectly over the curves of her butt.

She gives herself one last smile in the mirror, applying a little bit of lip gloss for fun before she heads off to Eren's party.

He's gonna realize pretty quickly she is in fact a girl. She's Mikasa, not Mik tonight.

Her plan works well, almost too well, because although Eren hasn't seen her yet, almost every guy in their friend group has and it's become obvious in how they're drooling over her.

Even Armin's eyes keep straying to her chest, although he seems to be more genuinely surprised that she has boobs than sexual interest, but no one can take their eyes off of her. She hates it a little, hates all the attention, but she just has to wait for Eren, it'll all be worth it.

And it is. When her best friend arrives and sees her for the first time he genuinely does a double take. He stops talking to the girls he'd been chatting up, and blinks at her like she's a mirage. He rubs his eyes a few times for good measure and then when he realizes she's not in fact an illusion, he makes a B-line towards her.

"Mik?" He whispers as he gets close enough, as if he can't believe it.

His eyes peruse her form and she can't help the shiver as she finally knows what it's like to be completely under his attention.

"Hi, Eren," she chirps. "What are you wearing?" He struggles out, adam's apple bobbing as his eyes look over her form.

"A dress," she teases, she's loving the way he gets so tongue tied, it's adorable.

He's silent for a moment, a hand reaching down to trace over her hips and down to her thigh where he fingers at the hem and Mikasa is hot all over, this is what she wanted.

"But why?" He whispers, breaking her reverie, and Mikasa's teasing smile twists into a scowl, she's allowed to wear dresses!

"Because I wanted to."

When Eren's eyes lock on hers they're suspicious, dark with an emotion she can't name, "For who?" She huffs, "No one! I just wanted to wear it." "You're lying." Her cheeks turn red as he calls her out, flushing with anger, "I'm not." "C'mon Mik, I know you, I know when you're lying." And there is that fucking nickname again, he wasn't supposed to call her that anymore, she's not Mik, not in this dress!

"I can wear what I want Eren," she grits out and he takes a step closer, and suddenly she realizes just how much taller he is than her, how menacing he can be, reminded why she has such a crush on him in the first place. "You can Mik, but you don't. So, why don't you go to my room, change into one of my t-shirts and some sweats, and after you can tell me which jackass you're trying to impress and I can kick the shit out of him, okay?"

She feels so many emotions in that moment, anger at being called out, embarrassed for going to all this fuss, and upset about the fact that after all of this her plan didn't even work, Eren wants her to change and he's still calling her Mik.

She can feel the hot tears pricking at her lashes, slipping down her cheeks, and her hands are quick to come and wipe them, smudging the little mascara she'd put on. She takes a deep breath as she looks at him, resolving herself not to bother with him again, she exhales sharply, a scoff, "It was, you asshole, you're who I was trying to impress. But the result has been noted, trust me I won't be trying again." And then she heads off towards the door, already texting her mom to come pick her up, leaving Eren Yeager tongue tied for a completely different reason this time, because he'd never expected that his best friend was in love with him.

AHHH !! I'll give this a happy ending eventually, i just don't have ideas for it and it's randomness 🤣🤣

@kvr0ii if you don't mind, I'm going to answer on this blog, since I want to keep it somewhat separate from my main blog so I can remain uh. employable. extremely dystopian world isn't it

(Context: I made a post on my secret personal blog something about how it's totally cool for my friends to message me at 1 AM to ask about what textiles my characters wear; I considered doing the same thing to some of my friends before getting nervous about it.)

Mae turns 20 just before mid-2016, though the year is never quite stated in the text because every year we move farther and farther away from 2016. She's 19 when she gets her wings at the start of Rainbow. She's not at the point of developing a professional wardrobe for a workplace, she's still able to afford the clothes she wants, and because of the year she's relatively uninfluenced by microtrends and tiktok aesthetics (in fact, if you asked her about Tik Tok, she'd probably think of the song). At this point, business casual was on the back end of having its moment, narrower pants were in style, and while people were talking about sustainable fashion, it wasn't as prevalent casually as discussion of it is now.

There are a few styles that are pretty popular around this time, which she probably gets at the shops. Specifically, we see her with items such as a blazer, a couple of dresses (including one full of glitter), a hoodie, and knit leggings. The blazer is never really something that the origin is revealed of, though it is something Mae hadn't seen in a few months at one point but was familiar enough with to recognise, so we can't be entirely sure if it's perhaps an old wool blazer, or one of the new polyester blazers that were so easy to find in just about any mall clothing store in the mid-2010s. She cut a hole in the arm of it, so it couldn't have been too expensive. She does wear it to go flying over a lake, which wouldn't be the ideal thing to do with wool. Still, I'm going to suggest this might not be completely a win for polyester, since Mae complains of the heat quite a lot, and wool would be more breathable than polyester would be. I'll suggest perhaps this is a secondhand wool blazer. It still holds its structure after being owned a while and also cut in the sleeve, which , having personally owned some of those 2010s mall blazers, I know they wouldn't really have done all that well. The blazer is long, so it might have been a vintage oversized.

Her glitter-covered periwinkle dress, however, is all polyester and plastic, and her knit leggings are probably acrylic and elastane. I think her white dress might be linen, because of its pairing with the azalea crown as a sort of counter to the deeply unnatural Deirdre and Mae's change since acquiring the wings. But, it would have to be quite fitted at the top, since it's strapless. She describes it as a flowing dress, so the bottom is probably quite loose; it's great for the weather since it's an excellent material for hot days, and it flows quite well when there's enough fabric. The sequins on her concert suit are plastic, and the velvet of her boots probably acetate or polyester. The shirt she wears with it is silver, which suggests a non-natural fibre to get that really shiny look, and it wouldn't be silk since she's buying it in a random mall store for one specific event.

(As an aside, when she borrows Kaio's clothes, those are cotton. He's a flannel and jeans and t-shirts sort of lad for his everyday outfits.)

Mae, for the safety of her wings, can get away with wearing whatever she feels like; she never really has scale troubles. Perhaps due to the engineered nature of her wings, physical limitations such as the permanence of scales or the weight of her bones for flight never really matter that much. She notices that the small wing she activates her own wings with is not subject to the whims of physics that regular butterfly wings would be:

And I imagine the same is mostly true for the wings she develops. She never mentions taking precaution (despite her nervous nature) to keep her scales from falling off, and perhaps they do not. As butterfly scales do not grow back, perhaps the solution was for Kaio to engineer the wings in such a way that the loss of scales would not be a factor in the first place. This lets Mae wear whatever she feels like, and she seems to prioritize cut and colour over fibre content, recognising articles of her own and other people's clothing by these features instead of by their fibre content, excepting Keiko's silk dress, something that others Keiko due to its anachronistic nature to the time they live in, and the leathers of Feris who is still apart from Mae and Kaio in the sense of how she gained her wings and her connection with Tornin, and Iron Filings for concert outfits, which are deviations from what she's used to seeing them wear. So, textiles are mostly important to Mae when they serve to mark the wearer as different.

Maybe That Was New York: Part 2

Jenny woke up suddenly, the feeling of a warm arm around her sending her pulse racing.

“You’re alright, Jen, it’s me.” A low voice from behind her mumbled into her shoulder.

She looked down and breathed a sigh of relief when she realized it was Joe’s arm holding her, his hand over hers. So last night did happen, she thought with a smile. She let herself relax into him again.

“Ok now?” He asked.

She nodded and he kissed the back of her neck, scooting himself even closer somehow. It had been a long time since she’d woken up like this. They had stayed up late into the night, Joe laying half on top of her as they kissed, his hand running up under her shirt and over her bra, but nothing more. She could feel how into it he was and she was both touched and impressed by his attempt to remain a gentleman.

At some point they had gotten ready for bed, an oddly domestic moment in what had been a whirlwind day followed by a heavy make out session. She’d watched as he removed his shirt and jeans before pulling back the blankets of the hotel bed. He looked up and caught her eye, a small smirk as he reached out to gently grab her bare leg and pull her down next to him. She’d opted to wear an oversized shirt and underwear, but there was something about his hand sliding up her bare thigh that was doing things. To both of them.

Jenny managed turn over and found herself face to face with sleepy blue eyes. Joe had a small grin on his face, his hair messy from sleep. You are in so much trouble, girl.

“Happy Birthday.” He said, wrapping his arm back around her.

“Thank you. Pretty good start so far.” She replied.

“Only pretty good. I was aiming for amazing, fantastic, best ever.” He joked back.

“Let me restate that. A fantastic start to my birthday.”

Joe grinned and again and kissed her cheek. It seemed liked no time passed as they lay wrapped up together in the early morning light. He closed his eyes again but ran his fingers lightly up and down her back, pressing his lips against the bare skin that her loose t-shirt left for him. One of his legs was between hers, and it felt somehow more intimate to him than if they’d actually had sex.

“Joe, this pains me to say it, but I really need to pee.” Jenny said and he could her the smile in her voice.

“Fine, as long as you promise to come back.” Joe responded as moved his arm.

“Of course.” She said, touching his hand before getting up.

An hour later, the pair walked out into the bright sunlight, heading towards the coffee shop they’d been at the morning before. It was close to the apartment Joe was staying in while he was in town, and he wanted to swing by to change into clean clothes.

The barista nearly dropped the mug she was holding as the door opened and she saw them walk in. She quickly composed herself and raised her eyebrow at the girl, who gave her a shrug and a smile in return. The barista watched as the two waited on their order, turning in to face each other, the British guy reaching out to take the girl’s hand like he’d done it a thousand times before. It seemed that the spell had continued, and the barista found herself more interested in their relationship than anything else in weeks. Probably even months.

Soon Jenny found herself in Joe’s apartment, looking out onto the cobblestone street several floors below. The apartment had a dream location, and whatever production company was paying for it certainly made a lot of money. Joe had gone into the bedroom to wash up and change. He came out a short time later to find her still standing in front of the windows, lost in thought.

“What’re you thinking about?” He asked quietly, sliding an arm around her waist from behind.

She was short enough that he could rest his head on hers, and he did, looking out into the street below.

“Oh, just how amazing this location is. I would love to have an apartment like this someday.” She replied dreamily.

“I know. I recently bought my flat in London, but this is certainly on my list now for the future, a place like this in New York. Gives you a whole different viewpoint, yeah?”

Jenny nodded and leaned back into him, closing her eyes. She was a planner, there was no doubt, but the one area of her life in which she planned nothing and sought nothing was dating. Relationships. Love. She very much believed in real life interactions bringing opportunities her way, and had always promised to herself to dive in head first when those opportunities came up. Like this one.

“What are you really thinking?” Joe whispered in her ear.

“Just … how I’ve kind of pictured this happening for years, and now it is. And that I should really invest more time in dating English guys, it seems well worth my time.”

Joe spun her around and she laughed at the little pout on his face. Her American sarcasm was hitting him right where she had intended.

“Who says you aren’t dating one now?” He asked, pulling her into him again.

“Is that what we’re doing?”

“I would say 4 meals and a sleepover constitutes at least 3 dates. We just had them all in one 24 hour period.”

“I’m on board with that formula.”

Joe looked down into Jenny’s eyes, where he could see doubt creeping in, as much as she tried to hide it. They had covered the basics of their dating histories at dinner the evening before, and he knew she had trouble trusting male intentions, no matter how sincere he was.

“I like you, darling. There’s nothing to worry about.” He said gently but firmly.

Jenny nodded and hugged him, her face turned against his chest.

“I like you, too.” She whispered back.

And the thing was, she really did. Sure, there was a fantasy aspect to it all, but in real life, standing here in this real moment, she did actually like the real person. All the years of taking in that feeling of the city, that anything could happen. Something major was actually happening.

“So, what do you want to do today?” He asked.

“My favorite thing - wander. I just want to wander with you and see what comes our way.”

Joe nodded with a smile and led her out of the apartment. He could feel the city buzz rise in the late morning light, like the streets were alive. He’d felt it in his previous trips to the city, but never like this. He looked over at Jenny, who was watching him curiously.

“You feel it, don’t you?” She asked.

“Feel what?”

“The city getting into your soul.”

And that was made him realize what the difference was. He was living in the moment, one tiny cog in the machine that hummed across an island too small for its population. He was a part of it.

Jenny nodded knowingly and they crossed the street, white and grey cast iron buildings rising up along the cobblestone. Hand in hand, they made small talk about the sights they passed, store window displays, a photo shoot taking place on a corner. This was where art, music, fashion, entertainment all came together. The choices made on these streets influenced the entire world, and yet daily life also went on in the space between. He understood what she meant. Things happened here that didn’t happen anywhere else. Because it was New York.

Joe walked Jenny back to her hotel in the early evening, so that she could get ready for dinner. He promised to be back in a couple of hours and returned to his apartment to get ready himself. He had just gotten in the door when his phone rang and he saw it was his brother, Finn.

“Well this is quite the development.” Finn joked after Joe recapped the past few days.

“It feels right, like everything lined up for us to meet, or something.”

“Is that what’s making you nervous? That it seems almost too easy?”

“I think so, yeah. Instant connection but more than that, we just, I don’t know, click in a way I’ve never experienced.”

“Maybe that’s it, then. That it isn’t difficult or confusing. You like her, she likes you. You understand each other. No drama, no games.”

“I know, you’re right. Update you later then, yeah?”

“Have fun, bro. And don’t forget extra condoms!”

Joe laughed as he hung up the phone, his bother parroting back his own warning. He’d make sure to be prepared for any possibility of what might come that evening.

At exactly 7:30 pm, Joe called Jenny from the lobby and she came down to meet him. They were going for dinner at her favorite restaurant, and she felt like she might pass out when she saw him leaning casually against a chair. He was wearing dark jeans and a grey button down, the color setting off his eyes. He tilted his head and smiled at her, slowly letting his eyes drift over her as she walked towards him.

“You look beautiful, love.” He said in his notorious John Shelby voice before leaning down to give her a short but searing kiss.

“You, too. I recognize that voice.” Jenny replied with a laugh.

“Thought I’d give you a little John Shelby tonight.” Joe responded with a smirk.

“I’m not sure I’ll survive that.” Jenny replied as he dropped his hand to her waist, leading her outside.

“Oh I’ll make sure you do, darlin’.” Joe said lowly in her ear.

He took her hand as they walked outside and Jenny grinned. This was a game she was going to enjoy.

“I thought you were gone for good, Mr. Shelby.” She mused.

Joe stopped her on the corner, pulling her into him and the intensity rose between them.

“John’s a part of me, so in a way, he’s always here. Ready for you whenever.” Joe responded, continuing with John’s accent but Jenny knew he was speaking from the heart.

“Well, Mr. Shelby, I’m honored to have you escorting me this evening.”

Joe smiled and winked at her, pleased to see she was ready to indulge this game. It was the truth, he’d come into the character with a basic background, but had a lot of room to play and create John as he saw fit. The result was a character that melded his own personality with a darker version of himself that could only exist in fiction. The parts that Jenny found most attractive were the parts that were 100% him in reality.

The light in the darkened restaurant only enhanced the mood between them, heavy with flirtation and desire. Joe ordered a bottle of champagne, ignoring Jenny’s protest about the cost, and he watched her indulge happily in her favorite meal. She watched him over the edge of her champagne glass, knowing that her life had taken a dramatic turn.

They walked slowly back to her hotel, making their way up to the roof deck, finding themselves alone among the city lights and stars. They stood quietly for awhile, taking in the view, hand in hand.

Joe pulled Jenny into him, as if to dance, and she laughed.

“There’s no music, Mr. Shelby.”

“We don’t need any.”

Jenny put her hand on his shoulder, trying to breathe as his other hand dropped to her waist. He found a beat in his head and spun her around in a slow circle, pulling her back into him tightly. This is what it meant, to be lost in another world, with another person, in a place where dreams were made and broken every day.

Later, in her hotel room, Joe sat on the bed, with Jenny standing between his legs. He knew what he wanted, and knew that she wanted it, too. But he didn’t want to move too fast. She unbuttoned his shirt slowly, trying not to lose her mind as his hands slid up under her dress.

“I want this,” Jenny said quietly, “are you ready for that?”

“I am.” Joe replied, knowing what she meant.

She smiled at his response, so sure and steady. Her dress fell into a pool at her feet and he picked her up, turning them both over to lay on the bed.

In the darkness, after, they laid tangled together, Jenny’s head on Joe’s chest as he pulled the sheet up over them. A pile of clothes on the floor, his shirt hanging off the edge. It was a scene neither wanted to forget.

“So what do you think of dating English boys now?” Joe asked with a devious grin.

“I think I’m only interested in dating the one in my bed. Throw in a little John Shelby from time to time for the fun, and I’m in.” Jenny replied.

“That’s settled then. I’m not interested in anyone else, Jen.” Joe responded.

She looked up at the pure smile on his face and couldn’t help but return it. He kissed the top of her head and ran his hand through her hair as he told her another story about his John Shelby days.

Something was indeed happening and it was the the kind of thing that only happened in New York.

It's still very colourful but not as cute as her daily/airport fashion.

Meeting Colette

As their dinner draws to a close, Masa and Sholi discover they're both staying at the same inn. As such, they decide to walk back together, further increasing time spent together.

As the night draws to a close, Masa feels the impulse to try and kiss the miqo'te as they're standing outside her door. She refrains though, not wanting to ruin the night with awkwardness.

The following morning, Masa awakes to the sound of knocking at their door. They reluctantly rise from their cozy bed to pull on an oversized t-shirt before opening the door. "Good morning," Sholi chirps, carrying a tray of breakfast foods. "I wasn’t sure what time you'd wake up, so I brought breakfast. Hope that's okay?"

Beside Sholi stands an incredibly tall Elezen woman. She gives a two fingered wave when she notices Masa staring. "Hi." She points to herself with her thumb. "Colette. Sholi mentioned you wanting to meet some other mages."

Masa blinks, taking in Sholi's sheepish expression. "Uh, 'kay." She stands to the side for the women to enter then looks down at herself. She typically slept in her small clothes and the t-shirt she'd pulled on did little to cover her legs. "Uh, maybe let me get dressed though?"

Sholi opens her mouth to comment but the Elezen clamps a hand over it before she can speak. "That's fine. We'll wait out here."

Masa nods, closing the door behind them. Okay. Right. Breakfast with two cute women. What did one wear for that? They didn’t exactly have much with them, determined to travel lightly when they left home, but this called for something a little more special than their usual dress.

Unfortunately, they hadn't had much chance to go shopping yet, so their usual dress is all they have. They quickly pull it on, and brush their hair. What else did they have to do? Oh. Right.

They freshen up in the bathroom, trying to hurry as much as they can. By the time they exit, Sholi and Colette are still outside, though they've moved to lean against the opposite wall. Sholi’s ears perk up when the door opens, making Masa’s heart flutter ever so slightly.

This was definitely starting to feel like a crush, and they're not sure how to feel about it. They didn't have much (okay, any) dating experience, and surely Sholi was more knowledgeable and worldly than them. Not that they were implying anything about her. Just that she surely had people falling at her feet to appreciate her beauty.

…Yeah, they were definitely entering crush territory. That was kinda terrifying actually. They didn't usually develop crushes, especially not on people they'd just met. Not one's that they recognized as such anyway. They'd thought they were demiromantic, but maybe they were wrong?

That's a thought for later dissection. For now, they try to focus on the pretty girls in front of them as Sholi explains what local place the food came from. They cross their legs in front of them as they eat, not noticing the way Sholi’s eyes keep drifting toward her legs. “Are you from here?” Masa asks the Elezen woman who’s name she’s already forgotten. Co…something. Colee? “Also, uh, can you repeat your name? I wasn’t fully awake before.”

The woman laughs. “Colette. Colette Descoteaux, thaumaturge extraordinaire… or so I like to believe.”

Masa laughs. “Sholi’s probably already told you my name’s Masa?”

Colette nods. “Indeed. She, uh, also told me about your gender issue.”

They wince. “Oh. Yeah. Uh…”

“No worries,” Colette quickly tries to assure her. “I went through a period of questioning of my own. Ended up deciding I like being a girl though. I’m just… fluid in how I like presenting as such.”

Masa blinks. “Oh. I see.”

“We have a viera friend who’s trans that I tried to coerce into coming, but she was busy doing somethin’ for the Arcanist’s Guild. Or so she claims. She’s not much for meetin’ new folks.”

“Oh.” Masa tries not to take that personally. A lot of people weren’t people persons, herself included, so why take it personally that someone didn’t want to meet her? “Maybe next time?”

Sholi beams. “Yeah. Maybe when we meet up for that group dinner we can introduce you?” Masa nods. “Great. We still need to plan for that. Maybe this weekend?”

Masa is coming to discover that being friends with Sholi was an interesting whirlwind of an experience. Sholi was kind and generous and pretty, but she was also very talkative and seemed to make friends easily. Much easier than Masa did at any rate, which wasn’t necessarily that high of a bar. “I’m free this weekend.”

“Same here,” Colette agrees.

“I’ll see if Zevri is available too. And maybe Augustine? He’s Colette’s… brother? Cousin?”

Colette giggles. “Brother. He started off as an Arcanist like you, so meeting him would probably be better than meeting me.”

Masa wants to agree, but that feels rude. “Meeting you is interesting too. I like meeting mages of all varieties, not just ones like me.”

They’re pleased when their phrasing gets a smile out of their incredibly tall new friend. “So how does thaumaturgy work? It’s elemental spells, right?”

Colette’s eyes brighten and she immediately dives into an explanation of how thaumaturgy compares to being an arcanist, including that yes, it does involve elemental magics. “I’m relatively new to all this, but I can do some fire and ice spells. I tend to prefer ice though.”

“Just a few. It was significantly smaller than it is now, but it wasn’t too hard to summon it.” Both women’s eyes widen in surprise. Masa blinks. “Did I say something wrong?”

The two turn to look at each other before Colette slowly releases Biscuit. “Well, no, but… it took Augustine forever to learn how to summon a carbuncle and he’s normally pretty damn good at magic.”

Sholi nods. “My Ma’s a mage and tried to teach me how to summon one. Couldn’t do it for the life of me. Still can’t.”

“Really?” Masa had known their talent was, well, special, but they’d never realized how special it apparently was. “I thought everyone had an easy time of it.”

Sholi shakes her head. “Not at all. Mine might be a me problem, but Augustine is now a summoner. A really good one too. I’ve only met him a few times, but he’s pretty impressive. At least, I thought he was.”

Colette nods fervently. “He is good, but it sounds like you might be just as good, if not better one day.”

Masa blushes. “Oh, come now. I’m not… I mean, I know I’m good, but I’m not particularly special or anything. Just lucky.”

“Clearly,” Colette agrees. “You can probably feel the aether in a way that most people can’t. That’s my only explanation of it. Mind you, I’m no expert on the subject. You’d need a Sharlayan scholar for something like that.”

Their blush darkens, thinking of the ones they’d met back home who’d been fascinated by their innate skill. “It’s nothing special. Like I said, I’m just lucky. I’m sure with enough practice you both could do just as well.”

Sholi shakes her head. “I doubt it. I mean, maybe with enough time and effort, but we’ll never be as natural about it as you sound like you are.”

Masa attempts to continue denying she’s anything special, and eventually the subject changes as their meals dwindle into nothingness. With the last of the breakfast finished off by the trio, Masa figures there’s no need for them to continue chatting and the two girls would leave. To her surprise, they end up staying an extra hour chatting about the various intricacies of their magics (and Sholi’s bow).

When they eventually leave, it’s past noon and Masa’s pretty sure she’s late for something, though she hasn’t the slightest clue why that may be as the Guildmaster hadn’t given her an exact time to return come morning. She shrugs it off as she makes her way to the door after making promises to meet up with the girls again for dinner over the weekend.

Masa waves to them as they part ways, her going to the Arcanist’s Guild while the other two head elsewhere. As she walks, she muses that, despite what happened from here on out, this was turning out to be an excellent trip to the city. It’s only been a day, but she already can’t wait to experience everything Limsa Lominsa has to offer.

Cady:

I decided to do two parts of Cady just for fun. When she first comes to the US I think she’d be wearing some of the same stuff that she wore in the original film; A flannel and jeans. This time I wanted to make it a little bit more realistic to how a modern teenager would do this basic look. She would probably have the flannel be a bit oversized, the jeans would be baggy or straight legged, and she’d wear a basic white T-shirt. Her messy ponytail would probably go turn into a messy claw clip. It would still be very simple because she couldn’t shop and odds are she probably also wouldn’t have wifi in middle of a random wildlife reserve in Africa. She’d still be wearing chunky white sneakers because she has very limited Internet access. She probably wouldn’t be able to know that they are out of trend. In her plastic era, Cady would mostly be shopping at her local thrift store with her mom to find items that would fit into the plastics look. She would never tell anybody that she thrifted her clothing but she’d be able to find some gems and make it work. I wanted to keep the same theme that was in the original movie where she essentially became a clish clash of every single plastic just to make sure she fit in. She would take in the plaid from Gretchen, the hoop earrings from Regina, and the hearts and bows from Karen. I feel like she would also beg her mom to get her a designer bag only for her to compromise on this cute little Telfar bag (Probably around Christmas time). I want her outfits to look very plasticky but almost like someone who’s dressing as the plastics as a Halloween costume rather than someone who 100% belongs with them.

This morning was swimming lessons, and watching an auction of a house near us. I wore number 127, a blush pink cropped jumper I had custom printed by @screenlabgc. Each Father’s Day I’ve had a custom t-shirt printed for Alan with a cute picture of Elizabeth on it, and they are exceptional. I highly recommend their services. I wanted something for myself as well after seeing how high quality Alan’s shirts were, but I don’t wear graphic t-shirts. Last year I got this jumper with a picture of Elizabeth that I love. The picture is a random Snapchat filter I took when she was a very little baby, and I just find it so cute and funny. She’s my glass of Libby Lime & Bitters! I chopped off the ribbing because it was too big and looked sloppy. I wasn’t sure how it would fit, so I bought the XL, and now I wish I’d got it a few sizes smaller. I just don’t like oversized clothes. It cost $47.95, which is great for a custom jumper I reckon. I’m considering having a new one made in a smaller size, but then what do I do with the old one? I can never get rid of clothing with my own’s daughter’s face printed on it! Regarding my wardrobe, that’s it, 127 is the last. I’ve worn all of my tops, jumpers, coats, jeans, leggings, shoes. Some of the costs were approximate, but according to my spreadsheet my wardrobe has cost me $3,862.24. That seems a lot. I thought I had more than 127 things, that doesn’t seem like an excessive number. I used to have a huge wardrobe with at least 500 things, at one point I had over seventy pairs of shoes. I think I could probably do with about 100 items of clothing and shoes while having variety and options suited to the weather. I thought it would take me longer to get through all of it, it’s been 73 days since I began. I’ve got a bin of clothes in the ensuite ready to go to the op shop. A few things I wore, realised they weren’t sparking joy, washed, and out in the bin. Others I didn’t even wear, I looked at them and realised I was not looking forward to wearing them, so they’re getting donated as well.
