Sometimes I'll just be sitting doing something and the (kinda) canon explanation for Wu's teas will just hit me and I have a little giggle every single time
Recently started reading Splinter in the Blind Man's eye, and HOLY SHIT THIS IS GREAT. (Spoilers under the cut)
First off I am loving it with the Clancee and Lloyd duo and all the skybound stuff. I also really like how this shows the sheer amount of trauma Lloyd's been through, also going in more depth with what happened with Morro.
Now onto more specific thoughts while I read:
-Escuse me the Teapot of Tyrahn was made by who?! And in the Temple of light no less...
-I wonder how many PTSD attacks Jay had during the Clouse dark island stuff. My bet's at least 10
-Lloyd almost dying because of the snow, and the extreme cold reminding him of when Kai and him were in the volcano with the extreme heat.
-Clancee my boy saving Lloyd's life is amazing
-I love Clancee and his friendships with Moppy, Peggy and Lampy. Also love how Lloyd likes his optimism
-My interest has been peaked with these people that seem to serve(?) the Wishmaster. What is their relation to the elemental masters of ice? And what do they have to do with Quanish?
-Talking 'bout Quanish, this man has been alive since Wu and Garmadon were still children, and seems to have known the FSM in person. Such a shame he died.
Reading the Splinter in the Blind Man's Eye and oooohhhh Lloyd feeling like it's selfish to take any time to do something that's not for a mission or the team but just for himself and he has nightmares and night terrors every night and he STILL feels guilty about freeing the Serpentine and that everyone who died from the Great Devourer including Harumi's parents is pretty much his fault ooohhhhh
SO let's talk about splinter in the blind man's eye???!?? bro what is going ON. if you haven't read it go read it i actually really enjoyed it and it gives a lot of recognition to lloyd's trauma especially around morro which i think is great! seriously i'm very invested in it and i feel like we should talk about it more. so. someone please reach out and talk to me about it LOLOLOL
anyways i couldn't decide if i like the colored lineart(top) or solid color lineart(bottom) so you get one of each
splinter in the blind man's eye is beautiful for so many reasons. one of those reasons is how it talks about the sheer amount of crap that lloyd has had to go through, but from his own perspective. i never imagined we would get to see lloyd react to morro's possession and actually have his thoughts articulated and thought out. morro caused lloyd immense trauma and the show does not mention it. at least, it hadn't until lloyd one-offed it to euphrasia. but even then, it does not show the depth of how badly he was affected by it.
Tommy posted this on his Twitter,, it’s chapter 16 of ‘ The Splinter in the blind Man’s eye’ , a could-be canon Ninjago novel and I think about it every single day.
still thinking bout the splinter in the blind man´s eye, n´ stuff...
Lloyd mentions at one point that misako used to send him letters when he was at darkleys, and that´s how he knew the location of the serpentine thombs n stuff, and like??? @ misako WHAT THE HECK KIND OF REASONING WAS THAT???¡?¡
Like, first this woman abandons her kid at a place that might as well be called bullying school, not once does she go back to visit him or anything, ´´keeps in touch´´ with him via letters and gives him (a LITERAL 9 YEAR OLD!!!) the exact location of where they put the angry snake people and expects her actions to not have consecuences????
No matter how you put it, Lloyd was going to do 1 of 2 things with that information; either he was going to seek them out and unleash them on the world (trying to be a villan, bc she literally put him in villan school), or he was going to do nothing with that information and just be a good and calm kid (at which point you should probably worry how he´s doing in villan school, bc he probably doesnt fit in too well).
I´m wondering what her first thought was when she heard serpentine were out and about again, did she go ´´surely this must be a coincidence and has nothing to do with telling my 9 year old how to find the thombs, no need to check up on that :) ´´?
Imagine her hearing about the great devourer being unleashed and being like ´´surely these can´t be the consecuences of my own actions which ultimately resulted in the deaths of several people :) ´´
just- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA this lady frustrates me sooooo fricken much, then she finally shows up *by complete accident* and excuses her absence with ´´oh i was trying to prevent the prophecy from happening UwU´´ ma´AM PREVENT YOUR CHILD´S TRAGIC BACKSTORY FIRST????
just my personal thoughts on the remainder of crystallized:
in the splinter in the blind man’s eye, lloyd mentions that his powers have felt more aggressive lately and that he’s worried that his judgement is worse. it’s been said that some of the things that happen in that story apparently lead to events in crystallized (i.e clancee tells lloyd about window cleaning and lloyd is seen as a window cleaner in the new season).
for the last two seasons, individual ninjas have been unlocking their own special powers; cole with his elemental burst; nya with her fusion with the ocean, and for this season i think lloyd will tap into his oni powers and that that will be his big personal ability for this season. this is already obvious by what we’ve seen of the new lego sets, but i think it’s further solidified by this aggressiveness that he’s noticed with his powers.
this also might not be relevant but it was said on twitter that vengestone most likely wouldn’t hinder an oni’s power, and we know that lloyd is currently trapped in a vengestone cage 🤷♀️ maybe the best way to escape or to fight in those caves is with a power that isn’t his energy abilities
