OK so I need some help here... I agreed to illustrate a scene from David Listzwan's fanfic because I wanted to paint and needed inspo. In this scene the guard Rowe is the hostage of a troll. Aaaaaand as you can tell from the image I REEEEEALLY can't be bothered to paint that troll. XD And I've tried to use the light as an excuse that he's only a sillouette. But I didn't have a reference for it, I'm not happy with it and it doesn't make THAT much sense that Rowe would be so well visible and the troll not...

Soooo my question is: Do you guys have an idea how I could have the troll in the image but at the same time not really in the image...? You know...? How do I make it only a shadowy blob in the background while Rowe is well visible? Preferably logically?

OK so first of all thank you to @sereniv, @nice-day-for-fishin-aint-it and @portal-a-stay for helping me with ideas for how to slither my way out of drawing too much troll! ❤️😂 I intended to combine the suggestions and make the troll both bigger and that area of the painting darker, so you would only see very little of him. But I guess very little was still too much. 😅😂 So I decided not to do the troll at all and fill in the empty space with a re-used Greg from another fanart I made a while ago.

I think I like it, and after all it's Greg who saves the day in that scene, so it fits. Now I just need to figure out the background, especially the colours. Probably hard to find anything that doesn't clash with either the red or the blue of the uniform. 😂 And I think the scene takes place in a forest...
