“Twice, too, I went to spend my holidays with Michael in Rumania, and I loved his grandmother, Queen Marie, nearly as much as I loved my own.
She had three main interests in life, children, horses, and flowers, so her home was a treasure trove of delight for us. Every day she would take me riding on a pony round the grounds.
And then came the moments of magic which none of us children, nor possibly the thousands of children all over the world who have read her books, can ever forget. She would tell us stories, such wonderful fairy stories, which she invented as she went along.
We, the children she knew, were privileged. We did not have to read them. We heard them sitting at her feet in that great white palace in Bucharest as her maids tended to her beautiful hair, and to her lovely expressive hands, while her voice, with its melodious bell-like quality, wove for us the most exciting worlds, which we, even as children, had never begun to imagine.
Everything came to life as she spoke; trains, animals, dolls, flowers, trees, all had part in her stories.”
💌 Excerpt from “For a King’s Love: The Intimate Recollections of Queen Alexandra of Yugoslavia”.

Henry ‘Chips’ Channon: The Diaries (Vol. 1), 1918-38, entry for 2nd July 1923
— Monday 2nd July In the evening we dined at Brook House some ninety strong with General and Mrs Vanderbilt.¹ Later there was a large ball, very fashionable and grand yet ‘kind’. Mrs Vanderbilt passed first into dinner with Paul of Serbia, which was correct but seemed to irritate Lord Curzon .... At midnight the P of W and the Yorks arrived ... her² first ball. Everyone was interested to see what would happen and what etiquette would be precedented and established. She was charming, dignified and blushing a little. Everyone ‘bobbed’ to the ground, if anything even lower than to the princes. Now that is settled. She brought no lady-in-waiting as Princess Mary³ frequently does ... — 1. Brigadier General Cornelius Vanderbilt III (1873-1942), of New York, was a soldier and yachtsman: in 1896 he married, greatly against his father’s wishes, Grace Graham Wilson (1870-1953). 2. The former Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. 3. Princess (Victoria Alexandra Alice) Mary (1897-1965), only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. She married Henry George Charles Lascelles (1882-1947), by courtesy Viscount Lascelles, who in 1929 became the 6th Earl of Harewood. She was created Princess Royal in 1932.

As per usual the BRF put on a shambolic display of precedence at Constantine's Service of Thanksgiving 🤡
First let me start out by requesting an answer as to how the FUCK Sarah Ferguson and her nonceband take precedence over A REIGNING KING AND QUEEN?
As much as I enjoy seeing my girl Lady Sarah Chatto take precedence over the play pretend royals that are Pavlos and MC's children, can you even imagine how slighted the BRF – let alone their stans – would've been if the tables were turned and Princess Alexandra of Greece and Nicolas Mirzayantz took precedence over Charles and Camilla?
On to the seating:
How exactly do you have Andrew (a non(ce)-working royal 🤡) take precedence over the Duke of Kent (a working royal)? 🫠 Honest to god, looking at the BRF front row, it looks like he ACTIVELY snatched Edward's seat because it makes zero sense for him to be seated behind the Gloucesters but ahead of the Kents 🙃
This is also just to say: Make no mistake, the next time Harry attends a BRF function and is seated five rows down "because hEs nOt a wORkiNG rOyAL DUH", remember how these weirdos are clearly more willing to let a sexual predator back in the fold than a man addressing the racism his wife endures 🫶
And then we return to Sarah, live-in (non-royal) divorcee – the only one of her kind that apaz assumes the precedence of her (royal) child at an official function – let alone takes precedence over her 🤡 Are we supposed to take this as a sign she and the Duke of Nonce have remarried? Because I dare you to name another royal family where she wouldn't be placed bang last.
On the... family(?) side, we have Alexia, Theodora and Olympia taking precedence over their younger brothers (except for Pavlos taking precedence over Alexia - we can't let the plebs know what they've missed out on by honouring actual birth order) which is... fair... though not exactly reflected in the primogeniture the GRF observes but whatevz 🤪 But then... the spouses of Constantine's children (all aside from ✨ Marie thee Chantal ✨ obvs) take precedence over Odysseus and Aristides? What does that even mean? 😭
Princess Alexandra of Greece (second cousin) and Alexander of Yugoslavia (first cousin once removed) take precedence over Elena, Cristina, Gustav and Alexandra (nieces and nephew) – but somehow not over Felipe and Letizia (thereby honouring Felipe's position as reigning monarch – a position that would since be shat on by Lord 4th on I'm a Celeb 2022) who take precedence over JC and Benedikte (brother- and sister-in-law). Queen Noor (unrelated 🤪) takes precedence over both Gustav and Alexandra (nephew and niece)... but NOT over Elena and Cristina (nieces).
And don't even get me started on the precedence somehow afforded to Chantal Miller... 🤡

I am curious who did Princess Elizabeth of Greece and Denmark end up with?
She ended up marrying Count Karl Theodor zu Toerring-Jettenbach, a relatively minor--but very wealthy--cousin of the Bavarian royal family. His mother Sophie was a sister of Elisabeth, Queen of the Belgians, and he was a first cousin of King Leopold III of the Belgians and Queen Marie Jose of Italy. Another aunt, Marie-Gabrielle, was the first wife of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria. Sisi was a grand aunt of his, I believe. HIs nickname was Toto and he was a very outdoorsy, adventurous sort.
Some books about Elizabeth's sisters Olga and Marina allege than he was an Nazi, or at least a Nazi sympathizer. But his children insist that was not the case. According to them, he was terrified of the Nazis and just trying to keep a low profile. Their son, Hans Viet, has this to say, in the book "Dear Ellen" about his grandmother Elena Vladimirovna:
Several authors and biographers, included among them my cousin Elizabeth's [of Yugoslavia] ex-husband Balfour, have wrongly insinuated that my father was a Nazi. Aunt Marina's biographer, a Ms Watson, even said it in her book. However nothing could be further from the truth. People like my father were caught in a tough position. As a Catholic he would have never supported Hitler. As an aristocrat he was banned and persecuted by the Nazis, particularly after the Princes' Decree. Don't forget that his Bavarian royal cousins were also viciously persecuted by the Nazis and even placed in concentration camps. No, my father lived in constant fear of being arrested at any moment and later on wondered why we had not suffered the same fate as our Bavarian cousins. For my mother, the war was a very trying time. She could not speak English outside the home and her opinions about the Nazis were blunt.
And from "So Happy: Woolly - Toto" from an issue of European Royal History Journal:
I heard an argument between my parents as we were in our car. Mother made very harsh remarks about Hitler and the situation in Germany, my father sternly told her to beware of making comments like that telling, "If your opinions were expressed in public Woolly we would go to the gas chamber." There were spies everywhere and one had to be very careful. My mother loved using English to communicate, but during the war, she could only speak it with our father and us. If anyone had heard her speak English in public, we would have been in serious trouble as there were spies everywhere, and every realm of life was infiltrated by Nazis and their followers and collaborators.
Their children (Hans Viet and Helene) also had the German archives look into whether Toto was ever a member of the Nazi party and while a few of the Greek princesses and their German husbands were members of the Nazi party, Toto and Woolly were not.

Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in young days in Duckverse - Tribute to her (1926-2022)
Please, this is not a parody, but a tribute to the Royal Majesty of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland plus the British Commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth II when she was young woman and ascended the throne, but in Duckverse way. Sorry about this, but I haven't mastered portraits in human form yet, but I hope to learn. I thank you for your understanding.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary as Elizabeth II born in 21 April 1926 in Royal Family called Windsor from father George VI and mother Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. She helped a lot as a driver during the Second World War and after the war she married in 1947 with Prince Philip, who is of Danish-Greek origin and became the Prince of Edinburgh. She became queen after her father's death and was crowned on June 2, 1953. She has four children with Philip, whose names are Charles, Anna, Andrew and Edward. She ruled Great Britain, Northern Ireland, as well as the British Commonwealth (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries), and during her rule many former British colonies became independent. She experienced many changes while she ruled through various failures and successes of the United Kingdom and changed as many as 15 Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and more than 170 Prime Ministers from the countries of the British Commonwealth.
Until now, she ruled for 70 years and managed to experience the Platinum Jubilee. She is on of the longest reingning monarchs of all time, as well as having reigned the longest of any English monarch in history. She visited almost all countries of the world, including communist countries, such as China and the former Yugoslavia. Howerer, although she contributed to the preservation of the British Kingdom, the British Empire saw its end. Also, unfortunately, numerous affairs took place at her court, starting with Charles' breakup with Princess Diana, Prince Andrew's affair, and the problems of her grandsons William and especially Harry. Not the mention the conspiracy theories surronding her and her court, but that's another story.
All in all, she preserved the reputation of her country and lived to a ripe old age. Her husband died in 2021, while she died on 8 September 2022 and was burried in Westminster Abbey in her father's chapel on 19 September.
After her, her son Charles will succeed as Charles III.
My opinion about her is irrelevant for now, but I certainly pay attention to her and let everyone who lives in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Commonwealth countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries receive my condolences.
Yes, I drew her in duck anthropomorphic form, that is, in Duckverse, because I'm not sure what kind of animal she would be in Donald's universe, whether an eagle, an owl, a lioness or some other species, so I decided on a duck. Sorry about this. Yes, drew a redraw of her from her younger days.
Song about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6ZvylOSy5A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-MVosjKkr4
Rest in peace to the soul of the queen and eternal glory to her and thank you for everything and may God forgive your sins, your majesty! Amen.

66 years since the death of HI&RH Princess Helena of Greece and Denmark Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia (29 January 1882 – 13 March 1957). Princess Helena was the only daughter and youngest child of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia and Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Her husband was Prince Nicholas of Greece and Denmark and they were both first cousins of Emperor Nicholas II of Russia. They had 3 children : 1)Princess Olga of Greece married Prince Paul of Yugoslavia; 2)Princess Elizabeth of Greece married Count Karl Theodor zu Toerring-Jettenbach, son of Duchess Sophie in Bavaria and scion of an old and rich Bavarian mediatized family; and 3)Princess Marina of Greece married the Prince George, Duke of Kent in November 1934.She was also first cousin of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Alexandrine of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Queen consort of Denmark and the grandmother of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy, and Prince Michael of Kent. Princess Elena became a widow early in 1938, as Prince Nicholas suffered a heart attack and died suddenly. She remained in Greece throughout the Second World War, dying there in 1957 and she is buried in the Royal Cemetery in Tatoi Royal Estate close Athens. #royal #royalty #royals#greekroyals#greekroyalfamily#danishroyals#danishroyalfamily#queenannemarie#crownprincessmariechantal#princessmariechantal#crownprincepavlos#princepavlos#kingconstantine#princessmarieolympia#princessolympia#princeconstantinealexios#princenikolaos#princesstatiana#princeachileasandreas#princeodysseaskimon#princearistidesstavros #princephilipos #princessnina #princesstheodora#queenofgreece #princessofgreece#princeofgreece #dukeofsparta#kingofgreece https://www.instagram.com/p/CpuKKvLoaa9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Can you pls talk about king Alexander I of Yugoslavia & his wife mignon.
Does he was loyal to her? Did they had a loving marriage?.
I tried so hard to find some info but it's so hard!😭
Hi! Of course, I’ll try to, to the best of my knowledge.
I’m not entirely convinced whether the match was one of true love or not, but I do believe the two had respect for one another.
Alexander had fallen in love with Tatiana, Tsar Nicholas II’s second daughter, when he was a child, and he intended on marrying her, but his marital aspirations came crumbling when the Romanovs were slaughtered by the Bolsheviks. To quote Hannah Pakula, “he never fell in love again”. Mignon, too, had declared she was never going to marry amidst the marriage events of her siblings. In spite of Alexander’s heartbreak, he still expressed his wish for “practical matters, such as the consolidation of his dynasty”.
However, the idea of a marriage between Mignon and Alexander came through the auspices of Romanian politician, Take Ionescu, who supported Balkan unity. He spoke to Mignon about the “lonely young man, an orphan with a mentally unstable brother, a poor rich king in an empty palace, who was looking for a queen to brighten his life and give him a family”, which intrigued the ever so kindhearted Romanian princess.
The following passages are cited from Hannah Pakula’s book:
[…] Alexander vas invited to Sinaia for the Christmas holidays, "the time of all the year," according to the Princess, "when it must be most sad to be alone without family." A week or so after New Year's, Mignon took her suitor through the snow-covered forests on a tour of Castle Peles. They were gone some time. When they returned, she was leading him by the hand. The King of Yugoslavia spoke no English. "Mother, we have arranged it," said Mignon, who burst into tears and ran quickly out of the room.
Queen Marie was concerned. Although she knew Alexander had an excellent personal reputation and that the alliance would be extremely popular both countries, he was, in her words, "an outsider of unsure race." Shy, communicative, the King of Yugoslavia volunteered nothing about himself. Marie could not understand how her daughter could have accepted him so readily without knowing him better […]. The Princess herself seemed to have no anxieties, announcing her new status with pride to everyone around and insisting upon telegraphing government officials herself.
I interpret Mignon’s eagerness to become engaged with Alexander as a show of her empathetic nature, but also of attraction. Upon their marriage celebrations, Alexander purchased an incredibly exquisite but expensive set of jewels for his soon-to-be wife.
Now… I haven’t found much information about their actual marriage. It’s a rather vague subject. However, I think it was an agreeable one, but not exclusively loving. His mother-in-law described Alexander as “capricious”, and Mignon as “having developed a dependency on other women”. Please note that it was believed that Mignon was romantically interested in women and she allegedly had an affair with a former classmate from Heathfield School, Rosemary Cresswell, also a lady-in-waiting to her, after her husband's death. In terms of Alexander’s loyalty, there was an incident involving his sister-in-law, Elisabeth, which took place soon after Peter’s birth. Elisabeth was being very flirtatious towards Alexander, a fact which greatly bothered Mignon, but it was never mentioned if it was mutual. I haven’t read about any other cases of “infidelity”.
The only reaction on Mignon’s part after Alexander’s death that I was able to find was the following, noted by Marie of Romania: “She was extremely calm and wonderfully dignified, but her hands were shaking”.
I wish I could further elaborate, but I only possess so much information on the subject you’ve mentioned.
Unfortunately, as you’ve mentioned, resources (especially primary resources, like their diaries which have yet to be published, if they ever will be) on them are rather limited. However, I’ve managed to gather a few, though I’m afraid they might not be very accessible, since they’re not all available in English, but here they are nevertheless:
English language sources:
• The many works of Stephen Graham on King Alexander of Yugoslavia, such as Alexander of Yugoslavia: The Story of the King who was Murdered at Marseilles. You can read it here. Also, Alexander of Yugoslavia: The Strong Man of the Balkans, which you can read here.
• The website of the Royal Family of Serbia, that you can access here.
• The Last Romantic: A Biography of Queen Marie of Romania by Hannah Pakula. You can read it here.
• And of course, The story of my life by Queen Marie of Romania. Her memoirs are always very insightful and useful. You can read them here.
Romanian language sources:
• Mignon. Principesa României, Regina Iugoslaviei by Diana Mandache. It’s a very solid piece of work on Mignon, though, unfortunately, the biography has yet to be digitalised and translated into English.
• A ten page article on Mignon also written by Diana Mandache and published by the Romanian National Museum of History Journal that you can read here. It’s in Romanian, but you can use Google Translate to read it, if you’ve got the patience.
Serbian language sources:
• Marija Karađorđević - Kraljica Majka by Danica and Srđan Čolović.
• Marija Karađorđević: Kraljica Plem by Vojislava Latković.
Hope this helps :D
