Not to continually compare apples and oranges, but I so often think about how much bbh has flourished on qsmp compared to d/smp,,, a lot because his fellow creators no longer just use him as the butt of a joke that so blatantly crosses his boundaries. He's no longer "that guy I'm gonna curse around just cause I know he gets mad about it" once people find out he'd rather keep his streams PG, they actually respect that and do their best to respect that. Which, tbh, makes the couple of times where someone gets him to say a curse word in another language all the better. Hes no longer "that guy who screams LANGUAGE at people." Hes an incredibly developed character that everyone on the island adores, and only occasionally teases by tricking him into saying Culero. And guess what? It turns out him not cursing doesn't have any real effect on his character's story! It doesn't dumb it down, it's not less powerful than others on the server.

It's amazing how well someone can flourish when given the proper respect and decency they deserve. When you're not constantly on edge from everyone pushing your boundaries, you can finally do more for yourself and the people around you!!!!

I've been inactive lately because I got sick on friday and it got. worse throughout the days, but this person on twitter basically sums up my whole thought about the whole president debacle

#qsmp #dk if i should tag this as discourse #warn me if yes #but basically yeah its a weird mix of rp and meta #and looking back on it i sooo wish the “the federation can not approve it!” argument didnt exist during the debates #cause #rp aside. lets look on the meta #the admins went through all the trouble to think of the whole arc #the debates; el quackity; the voting system #and then after ALL THAT TROUBLE #they would just deny every presidential request ever???? lol #also this is something i dont think many ppl on tumblr know #because generally pt speakers dont talk about it a lot either #but the reason cellbit and forever disagreed with the council bbh and baghera proposed #was that their council would make it so there was no president #and their disagreement of this council was coming ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FROM META #because when cellbit and forever talked about it at the beginning of the elections #forever mentioned how the admins put limits on what they can do #and gave an example about the day they got felps and cellbit back where they had to do a certain way #and cellbit agreed with him #their logic was just that since the admins went through the whole trouble of coming up with the elections #its because the admins WANT to have a president and they wouldnt allow for the president to not exist #also Cellbit agreed that if you excluded the admins controlling the lore it would make sense to have a council #he said something like “in brazil we have like millions of people and we can't really have everyone give their opinions so thats why we #elect ppl to represent us. its not the case of this island where you can just go for a walk and you find out what everyone wants/thinks in #15 minutes“

I want to debate with you over dsmp lore but I'm terrified you'll hate me

Hate? I won’t hate you for having an opinion, everyone has a right to one and I’m happy you have one :D especially if it’s your opinion not purely someone else’s (not to say it can’t align with someone else but it’s yours as in your not just mindlessly repeating someone if that makes sense…). And typically there is a little truth in both sides. Even in the times I’ve disagreed with people it has made me question things. Like for example my conversation with elmhat about c!Quackity prompted me to ask the question: why do I see him as unempathic and find no sympathy for him? Was he not betrayed? Was he not hurt? Was he not discriminated against and overlooked? Why is it that I can be so against him when some of the same things I sympathize with Dream on happened with Quackity. Which then spurred my research into Antisocial Personality Disorder (disorder relating to psychopaths and sociopaths) and Audience Perception. So even if I disagree or dislike what you have to say, I’m not going to hate you for it, and it’ll likely make me question why I think differently, often spurring my dive into lore where I usually find other fun things.

Like this funny clip with c!Schlatt and c!Quackity I discovered last night where c!Schlatt says that Austin Show is dead with him, which almost implies he’s some secret additional mystery character drifting in limbo?…

unless of course we consider that c!Schlatt also talks about the picture on his wall as his Dad who runs the gym with him… man seems to be going insane to be honest and who can blame him, he’s spent how many decades in limbo?…

Anyways, having said that, while certainly optional, definitely not required or necessary or expected, I’ll just let you know as an autistic person I do appreciate sources because there are a lot of times I forget about something or didn’t know and I want to see for myself, not because I don’t personally trust you but because my general rule to the internet is to not pass something on as truth just because someone said that because even in the context outside of dsmp analysis that’s how misinformation spreads so fast.

okay i am still not really able to properly articulate everything i want to say about the admin situation but i'm seeing a lot of doomposting and also lots of people setting themselves up for disappointment with wildly optimistic assumptions so lemme just try to hit some bullet points

adding another new creator and language in this time of turmoil is not ideal, but he was leaked a while ago that he'd been accepted and waiting to join for a while before the whole situation dropped and leaving him in limbo after he's already set aside the time in his schedule for qsmp is also not ideal

we are probably not gonna hear anything more specific than we've already heard until negotiations are finalized. inviting The Entire Internet to comment on every single detail of the negotiations at every step of the way is not going to help

everything we hear from quackity will be as positive as possible. everything we hear from the union will be as negative as possible. it is their jobs to be this way. temper your reactions accordingly

both quackity and the union want a solution where the qsmp continues and the eggmins all keep their jobs and get paid fairly for reasonable labor in reasonable conditions. the union is not gonna be gunning to take down the qsmp

a lot of the negotiations are going to be over what reasonable labor and conditions actually look like for a job that necessarily includes weird and inconsistent hours and labor demands. this is going to take a while to figure out

the other main issue is going to be backpay for the labor that the staff has already done. this is going to be a massive chunk of change. it's also going to take a while to figure out who is owed what and whether it should be paid out all at once or over a period of time

all of these money issues are going to be complicated by the many different currencies and tax standards involved.

tl;dr: this is a complicated situation and it won't be solved any time soon and we shouldn't really expect updates until everything is finished which wont be for a while, but it's actively being worked on and solutions do exist

One thing I love about qsmp 2024 so far is how much they’ve listened to creators and the community

Pac and Mike now have a way to easily send people to their mini game through the spawn setup quackity mentioned

Tubbo can now read the signs and speech bubbles easier through colour and text combinations. He also wanted trains so they added more dynamic train options

People who want to roleplay now have even more emotes to play with (e.g. the emoji emotes)

People were concerned with the lag and ping, so they’ve considerably optimised it to the point where Cellbit as soon as he logged on noticed the lag was better

Audiences started to complain that there was no incentive to play aside from the egg quests, so they’ve implemented a money system with rewards for playing (e.g. unlocking the nether via paywall)

All in all I think this is going to be super refreshing for the server and the community even if personally I’m a little bit sad that all the builds are seemingly gone :’)
