“For the last damn time, Koun!” (Name) whipped around to turn her back at him while she clenched her fists in anger. “I don’t want to be you girlfriend again! Not even friends because I am so sick of you following me around! I can’t stand it!”
Koun placed a hand on her shoulder, making her jerk away from his touch and run for her sanity. “Come on, baby! I told you I was sorry!” he pursued her, turning corner after corner to catch up.
As she weaved through the line of people walking down the street, her face collided with a hard surface and she almost stumbled back onto the pavement if they didn’t grab her arms in time. Looking up, she was met by the most gorgeous blue eyes she had ever laid eyes on, paired with locks of sunshine gold that shone in the afternoon light.
“Ah! Oh my goodness... Sorry! I didn’t..I was trying to get awa-way-”
He tilted his head in curiosity, his eyes darting forwards to see who she was talking about. “Are you being followed? Are you in trouble?” he inquired, his eyes darting back and forth to her and to the street, the girl finding it difficult to answer, entranced by his looks.
“(Name)! Stop running away from me, please!”
Moving forward to shield her from whatever she was hiding from, he was shocked to feel her grab his hand and pull him back to her side as she peeked from the turn of the sidewalk. “Play along, okay?” (Name) was fighting off a smile as an ingenious plan formulated in her mind, ready to confront the whiny ex that had been following her in public for a month or so.
“O-okay..!”
“(Na)-...” he stopped his calling halfway, his gaze switching back and forth to her and the man beside her. Just from eyeing him up and down, she could tell that she was estimating if he could take him on. He was totally overpowered by the poor man she had grabbed so suddenly.
(Name) and whats-his-name walked by him as she flicked her hair while he watched with his mouth agape. “Oh hi, Koun.”
“What...what the fuck?”
He gestured to their interlocked fingers, and to her, with a glare slapped onto his features as he yelled. “When the fuck did you meet Lemillion?! And why are you two holding hands?!”
A chill ran down her spine as she craned her neck upwards to see that iconic uniform and signature smile of none other than the number one hero in all of Japan. ‘Oh god, of all the guys I could grab in Musutafu, it had to be Le-fucking-million!’. She felt the blood rising to her cheeks as she suppressed making a face of humiliation while she was facing the most annoying person in the universe.
“Hey there. I’m Mirio. Koun, right?” the hero tucked his helmet under his arm and jut out his hand, trying to be as civilized as he could. “You know, we’ve talked about you a lot.” he started, taking a step forward that he loomed over him by a foot, shaking Koun’s hand with a deathly grip. She could tell from the white of his knuckles.
“And you know what? I didn’t really like what she told me about you. So how about you leave the woman alone?” he released his hand and crossed his arms across his chest, raising his nose as he looked down on him.
“(Name) you can’t be fucking serious!” he pleaded, snapping his head to her direction. “You can’t replace me with this...this person just because he’s a hero!”
“Sorry, buddy. But she already did.” The blond placed a hand on his shoulder and squeezed. “I really suggest that you apologize for harassing her, following her and sticking your nose up her business. Or I might have to stain my reputation as a hero a little for the doll.”
His face contorted to a look of pure fear and he bowed, crying and wailing apologies and hurrying off onto his way before vowing not to bother her any longer. As soon as he was out of sight she let out a groan and dragged a hand over her face.
“Shit..I’m so so sorry. I didn’t know it was you.” her eyes subconsciously trailed towards his gloved hands, trying to remember the feeling of the material between her fingers. “M-mirio no- Lemillion, wait-”
He let out a light chuckle, the sound like twinkling bells in her ears as the heat spread to her face once again. He took her hands in his and said, “Mirio, please. Call me Mirio.” Her eyes shifted from their hands and to his magnificent blue orbs.
“I was really impressed of how you were so confident back there, even though you yourself was shocked that it was me who you grabbed!” he rubbed his nose and the two of them shared a laugh. “Hey, I know this is a little sudden but...you’re really interesting and I want to get to know you more...!” he dug in his helmet and pulled out a calling card, presenting it to the girl.
She took it with a spunk in her movements, reading the rectangular object that held his contact, filling her heart with joy. “Of course, Mirio.” she really liked how his name rolled off her tongue smoothly, a smile finding its way onto her reddened face. “So, Friday at 5?”
“You betcha, doll.”

Koun had a lot of time on his hands at the moment, so he'd decided to get up and actually do something. To give himself some time to train some skills that he hadn't had to use in a while, picking up a wooden sword and setting up a small sparring area for himself. However, this led him to start thinking. Thinking deeply about things. Which....was a rather dangerous thing. Because his mind tended to loop, and circle back on things he really shouldn't be thinking on.
Of Fate.
Of humanity.
Of time.
Of his own abilities......
Gradually, his swings went from fluid and calm to almost frenzied. Each swing down, or slash across, he thought of something else. Something he was lacking, something he was missing. Something he wasn't able to do anymore.
Smack.
Why had he done what he'd done all those years ago?
Smack.
Why did time have to be so cruel to beings like him?
Smack
Why was he so weak?
SMACK
The wooden sword bore no match for his strength as he brought it down with an angered snarl, slamming into the poor defenseless mannequin he'd set up for himself. Both the sword and the mannequin were left in splinters......and Koun just stood there. Huffing. His hands curled around the hilt of a broken blade. He stared at it for a few moments, perhaps confused....but he just looked slightly blank. Processing what had happened.
With a grumble, he tossed the useless piece of wood to the side, turning and stopping short.
"....Chi? What are you doing here?"
Had she seen all that? Oops. The last thing he wanted to do was make her worry.

@chibi-koun Glad to know you enjoyed yourself very much at the museum.And those poor men! (You mean they really were only two dudes in the whole crowd? ) Hahahaha! Can imagine how confused they must be at this whole influx of Touken (female) fans to what I’d think is usually a not too populated venue. And that is one very cool penknife (or is it a letter opener? ~ ‘cos it looks more like a letter opener to me) souvenir! Wish I could get one too.
Heheh, one of them was there with his girlfriend. But yes, there were two (in the group I was in). And they were very puzzled.
It's a paper knife! I typoed it, but I thought I'd fixed it? I'll check again. But no, it's not terribly sharp.
It's such a cool little museum. And I was not expecting to be as blown away by Actual Rooster as I was.

highest: Ogien von Araydark! He is an evocation wizard with a INT of 18 on level 4 and a smart boy, allthough he is a bit too lazy to apply it in a way that isn't fun to him (read: blowing shit up and creating problems on purpose)
lowest: K'bach Koun, my poor paladin of Liira, has an intelligence of 7. 7!!!! to say that he is a himbo would be an understatement. he never really knows whats going on and is very naive, but he has a big heart and even bigger bloodlust, and isn't that what counts?
14. lies the most?
again they are all liars hashtag gaslight gatekeep girlboss. i think K'bach lies the most because he is the face of the party, but Ogien straight up lies about things for fun, so i would call this one a tie.
24. would win a battle royale with all the others?
oooh now this is a fascinanting question! Ogien would go down first, while he makes a lot of damage he is just so damn squishy, and most of his spells are AOE but DEX saves so Selys would dodge them and Kbach is very tanky and rarely goes down on untargeted attacks. Between Kbach and Selys i personally think that Selys Chaicilo would win because K'bach is very much built for melee fights and Selys as a ranger rogue can disengage and hide across the map. On the other hand, ones a paladin gets to smite.... i'm still giving this to Selys though.
25. is the most likely to charge right into battle?
K'bach Koun! While he is definitively the sweetest of the bunch, and as a follower of Liira should know better, he loves fighting and sees it as his purpose and also has a black and white morality to a comical degree. If he thinks you should go down, he will GO FOR IT. Also, he has never been strategic in his life and goes into things headfirst anyway, much to the chargin of his party.
34. would have the most fun playing a ttrpg?
Ogien von Araydark! i think he would delight in the creativity and strategy of it, and would have a lot of fun tormenting his DM with unconventional solutions. The rules would be far too complicated for K'bach to understand and Selys is not a man to sit around and play, i think he would rather stare at a wall then play pretend.
44. is the most like you?
there is no world in which the answer to this is flattering to me becasue they are all a little fucked up but i would say Ogien because I, too, have a superiority complex and a terminal need to have a good time. But K'bach and I definitively share the felt pressure to be entertaining to be loved and the hold my beer energy.

NBA All-Star Voting Recommendations
Every year, the NBA allows fans to vote on which players they want to see play in the NBA All-Star game. Every year, I write the commissioner a strongly worded letter saying that this is a bad idea, because I am the only one with enough NBA expertise and basketball know-how to determine which players are the best & which players are the rest. Here is a copy of that letter & Adam Silver’s reply:

So, it seems that the fan vote will continue despite my best effort. There have been 2 changes to all-star voting this year. 1. Players can now vote on the All-Star game, and the player vote will count for 25% of the ballot. FEELS: I fully expect players to attempt to sabotage the opposing conference’s team in hilarious ways. Suppose (as I do every night before I go to bed) that you are a player for the Detroit Pistons who’s getting some all-star votes. You don’t want the Western Conference All-Stars to be good, because then you’ll look dumb getting dunked on in the all-star game. So, instead of voting for the best Western Conference Players, you just vote for all the Phoenix Suns, because the Phoenix Suns are terrible. Too many conflicts of interests imo.
2. You can just vote for any ten players you want, instead of having the vote broken down by position and conference. FEELS: Great! I historically only voted for 4 Eastern Conference players (because the Eastern Conference is bad) & wrote in Barry Bonds as the last spot. Now, I can vote for the 10 players I love the most, regardless of position or team or even active NBA status.
So, here are the 10 players you should be voting to the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.
1. Boogie Cousins: Boogie Cousins has promised to drop an R&B album if he starts the all-star game this year. There is nothing you or I or anyone has wanted more in this world than a Boogie Cousins R&B album. Vote Boogie.
2 & 3. Vince Carter& Demarre Carroll: my favorite players & therefore your favorite players. Vote Vince Carter because Vince Carter is the man. He’s 39 and still dunking like the Air Canada sponsorship never expired. Vote Demarre Carroll because Demarre Carroll is a long time MTZ fan favorite. The dude doesn’t have an Achilles!
4. Michael Gbinije: Clearly deserves some sort of recognition for knocking Dayton out of March Madness last year. He’s only averaging a half-point a game this year, but I expect that to go up next year when Scoochie, Charles Cooke & Kendall Pollard take the league by storm.
5. Giannis Antetokounmpo: Giannis is doing wonderful basketball things, but people are ignoring this because his name is hard to pronounce & impossible to remember how to spell. Well, no more. Today is the day you learn how to pronounce “Giannis Antetokounmpo,” Zagz. To start, “Giannis” is pronounced “Yawn-iss.” You will remember this because Giannis is a Greek form of the name John, and John is a boring name. Thus, Yawnis. Second, Antetokounmpo. The easy way to remember this is that all of it of it is spelled wrong. Let’s break it down by syllables, starting with Ant. Nt is pronounced as a D, but there’s no D in Greek, so they cheated, and used nt, which does not sound like D at all, but, whatever. So the first syllable is Ad. Then, the E is in the wrong spot. The “eto” is pronounced “toe.” So, Ah-deh-toe. Anteto is Ah det toe. The M is silent. I don’t know why. Ignore the M. Ah-deh-toe-koun. Ah-deh-toe-koon. Then, lastly, the p is pronounced as a b. I’m assuming it was a typo. “Ah-deh-toe-koon-bo.” Easy. Yawniss Ahdehtoekoonbo. Impress your friends and family with this newfound knowledge. And vote for Yawniss. I’m not teaching you how to spell it tho bc even I don’t know.
6. Chris Bosh: you gotta feel sad for him because he’s never going to play basketball again, and he loves to play basketball. (Secret NBA insider tip: Bosh may play basketball in a limited capacity next year, even though he will die if he tries too hard. You see, the NBA has very specific rules relating to player injury & health status. If Bosh doesn’t play at all this year (he won’t), the Heat can release him & his current salary won’t count against the cap ever again. [They still have to pay him, it just doesn’t count as player salary.] This would not only help the Heat be able to sign more players moving forward, but also keeps the Heat from paying the repeatedly-over-the-cap luxury tax. BUT, once released, any other team can pick him up. AND, if he plays at least 20 more games for another team, his entire salary counts again towards the Heat’s cap. He’s signed for 22 million a year through 2020, which is a huge chunk of cash to pay someone not on your team. The Heat would also have to pay a big-ass fine for this, because the rule assumes, if Bosh can play 20 games for someone else so soon, the original team is cutting Bosh jut to circumvent the cap. The kicker is, the rule doesn’t specify minutes, just that Bosh must play 20 games. So, if you’re Chris Bosh, and you’re mad at the Heat for ending your career against your will, there’s nothing to stop you from signing with another team that hates the Heat (Mavs, Magic, Hornets), running around for 1 minute in the garbage time of 20 games, and dicking the Heat over for 3 years. Which would be super petty & immediately make Chris Bosh an all-time MTZ Fan Favorite)
7. Paul Millsap: why not
8, 9, 10: Russy Westbrook, James Harden, Kevin Durant: Yes, yes, yes. I know. James & Kevin are not MTZ fan favorites & I’ve told you to root against them many, many times. But. How funny would it be if the three former Oklahoma Thunder teammates were all starting All-Stars together. I’d never stop laughing. Plus, it’ll make a very great ending for the 30 for 30 on these three that’s gonna come out in twenty years. It’ll probably be called “Thunder University,” the name Durant coined for them (& poor Serge Ibaka) back in 2012 when they were all young & fun & together still. The documentary will end with a shot of them all on the court at the same time during the All-Star game, with the Sam Presti voiceover, “we just never could have predicted he would get so good, so fast.” Then credits would roll. So vote Russy/Harden/Durant to allow this to happen.

For as loud as Koun is. For as Chaotic, and cheerful as he appears...Koun is actually quite a nervous fox.
He hides it well....but if one pays enough attention to him, they’d notice small nervous ticks, ways he tries to avoid thinking about certain things or divert his line of thinking in general.
Most often, he can be seen hiding his hands, he’ll stuff them in his sleeves, or in the case where he doesn’t have large sleeves, he prefers to wear baggy clothes that he can shove his hands in. Even he doesn’t really realize he does it, nor does he understand why he does. It’s just something that makes him feel better.
He’ll also run his hand along a table if he’s sitting at it, and he usually doesn’t realize he is. It’s just something he does automatically.
These kinds of actions get more and more noticeable as he’s around more people. He doesn’t particularly like big crowds, and festivals or parties are a big huge no for him. He can handle them for very short amounts of time, but he’ll get more and more anxious and nervous as that time ticks by....and if he’s too pressured, he bolts.
Literally. He will scram very quickly and hide under layers of illusions to where you cannot find him until he wishes to be found. Or if you’re lucky and you do find him after his illusions have failed him (usually in a small and dark enclosed space or somewhere really quite in nature), he’ll try to play it off as nothing, or he had something to take care of. His voice will shake, and he’ll have trouble keeping hold of his illusions if he’s found.
He’s more volatile in this state, more likely to snap at you, to yell or break/burn things, and he hates it. He prides himself in his control over his abilities, his emotions (though he still believes they’re not really emotions but learned actions), and his thoughts. He prides himself in being the calm but chaotic friendly fox....and hates yelling or snapping at people. But in his panicked state, he will. And it takes time for him to calm down.
After he calms down though, he’s all apologies and soft spoken words, and lots of helpful actions, as if trying to make up for anything he broke/hurt.
AKA: This poor thing has managed to figure out ways to control his anxiety without medication, but it backfires on him a lot.

One thing to note about Koun, in any of his verses, is that he is not in the best of health.
In his main verse, it’s not necessarily that he’s not healthy persay, for he eats well, and he’s not necessarily sick. But he’s exhausted. All the time. He may look fine, happy, and healthy on the outside, but the thing to remember is that he’s a Kitsune. A Kitsune that prides himself on his illusions, his ability to trick those around him. He’s not malicious in his trickery....at least to other people. His maliciousness turns towards himself, as he hides his true state. Koun is not healthy due to the fact that he barely sleeps, he barely ever rests, and when he does it’s never truly fitful. He’s plagued by the constant fear that he’ll fade into nothingness, into the abyss of dormancy....and it terrifies him into taking prolonged spells of wakefulness. He will literally push himself to the point of passing out from exhaustion, and you’d never know the difference until that point because he puts all of his excess energy into keeping that illusion up.
Koun destroys himself in this sense. And he typically pushes those around him away so that they won’t get close to him....so they won’t have to go through the pain of loss when he fades, or...more so, that he doesn’t have to go through the pain of loss himself when they grow old and die.
In his other verses, it’s a very similar story. In these verses he doesn’t rest, but he’s also actually in poor health due to a variety of other reasons. Usually lack of food and rest, which lowers his immune system. In these verses it is very easy for him to catch a cold and be bedridden for days due to his lack of self-care.
Basically....in all of his verses, Koun doesn’t care about himself, but instead focuses on those around him. Either to protect them, or to protect a prideful image of himself. To the point of putting himself in harms way to where it could do more harm than good.

Even then…even as the white fox sank his teeth around Koun’s neck…..the older fox managed to push away the demonic force that made itself known in his core. Enough so that he let himself be drug towards the pond….
And yet, it was not to be.
“That is quite enough!” a female voice shouted, and a powerful blast of holy magic struck Kokkuri in the temple, forcing the beast to let go of his prize. Koun fell to the ground….the blue trickles of flame streaming from his eyes had vanished….leaving a half conscious snarling demon in they’re wake….but it could not get to its feet any longer. The damage had been done, painful punctures on the sides of his throat….sizzling blood pooling and burning the very ground….to think that might have gotten down the other’s throat….
The owner of the voice was a young maiden….stepping around some of the debris to point a finger at Kokkuri almost like she was reprimanding him.
“Have you forgotten what becoming a demon does to your kind, Fox-sama? It messes with the mind and burns from the inside out. This poor God can’t feel anything other than that and you wanted too add to it?! Shame!” the woman paused to take a breath. “Besides don’t you know the consequences of killing another god, even one who has become a demon? He is still savable…but it seems we will have to do a double purification if you cannot see that! And here I was told you were family…..”
She turned to the writhing demon as it tried to stand.
“No matter what he has done, it was under corruption. He was not aware of his actions and still you blame him, yes? Does he mean that little to you? For you to throw him away like a broken toy…..no wonder he became a demon if that’s the case.”
She turned her head to look at Kokkuri, a stern look on her face.
“If this is how you treat those you consider family, the i fear for the lives of the others in the area. For now…..”
Another blast of holy energies struck the white fox again, this one more powerful than the last.
“Be subdued.”
