The fact that Benoit Blanc's fame in Knives Out universe is just so well-known to the point Google defining him as the greatest detective and Miles recognizing him right on just confirms Benoit must have WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE WANTING HIM DEAD, and also implies that at some point in their romcom love story, Philip might have or might have not been one of those who tried to either stop Benoit from solving a case by being paid to kill him or something, which could also mean Philip has almost the same skill sets as James Bond but never as brilliant as Benoit to NOT ONLY SOLVE A MYSTERY but also managed to prevent this future husband of his from endangering lives (including himself)

Glass Onion (light spoilers about Benoit's character)

after browsing through the glass onion tag yesterday, and thinking about Benoit and Phillip, I had a headcanon about their relationship.

I think it is best if they met in a mundane way, like at the grocery store or something, but if they were to have met in an interesting way, I have a preferred way it could've gone down.

Benoit is investigating a murder or a serious crime, and Phillip is for some reason part of the suspects. Benoit is focused on his job, so he hasn't registered how handsome he finds Phillip, but Phillip (despite being a suspect) couldn't help but notice how handsome he finds Benoit. So, because Benoit's focus is on the crime, Phillip acts in increasingly suspicious ways to get Benoit's focus onto himself. Benoit almost accuses Phillip of the crime, but eventually finds the real perpetrator. After the crime is solved, he confronts Phillip about his weird behavior, and Phillip confesses that he was doing it all to get Benoit's attention. Since Benoit is finally able to focus on something other than the case, he realizes how attractive he finds Phillip and asks him out.

Eventually they became the couple we know and love today.

Just imagine, a scene between Detectives Colombo and Benoit Blanc would be a wonder to behold. Colombo would start off with a personal anecdote about his wife (who he loves and adores, she’s so smart and clever) which leads Blanc to open up and offer a comment saying something about his husband Philip.

Basically they’re whole first scene becomes a spouse-off, where each participant tries to impress the other; not with their own accomplishments but of those of their respective spouses.

I’m imagining at whatever event they’re at their spouses are their respective plus-ones and are in fact in an adjacent room wondering to the other where their husbands have gotten off to this time and what crazy story they should expect when they finally relocate them.

Nothing stresses Philip out more than when Benoit is off solving a case. As he knows each one poses the risk of Blanc not coming back.

Benoit knows this and has his not-so-subtle ways of sending word that he's safe.

Aka a grey suited detective shows up to their residence every so often with word that he's alive and well

To be honest this frightens Philip more, as he always expects to hear that his husband has died. Though he wouldn't change this, as the relief he feels when his assumptions are incorrect is worth the momentary panic.
