Panja is a weaving technique from Haryana in India. It is mostly used for weaving light rugs called dhurries. It gets its name from a claw-like tool called panja which is used to beat the weft threads into the warp to adjust them there. Panja rugs are famous for their lightness and portability. They are made from cotton or wool or jute. The designs are usually geometric. In the past, when these rugs adorned the palaces of Rajasthan the designs were more elaborate and resembled Persian rugs, however, over time as demands increased and rugs became common for household use, the designs simplified into the distinct geometric form they are recognised for today.

Another fun fact no one asked for.

Panjyamon is a reference to Panja from Jungle Emperor/Kimba the White Lion.

Talking about references I was thinking if Hououmon X-Antibody is a reference to Tezuka's Phoenix, but it's probably more of an inspiration from Fenghuang myth than from Tezuka's design.

And there is also Plutomon, I think it's more the general shape that gives me that impression, but it's probably not inspired by it directly either.

I was going to use the Reference Book artworks but they are too small to see anything so too bad, using the card game, Survive and New Century arts.

A fun fact about me is that my actual first experience with Tezuka's work was 2 episodes of the 60's Kimba anime I bought on DVD for a road trip at a supermarket check out line when I was like 8-9.

#I remember the locust episode #and an episode about some bull who was like... Panja's old bestie #coming into the jungle like 'hey Kimba me and ur dad loved murder and violence and u should do it' #and then I think Kimba gets trapped in a hunter's house and his dad's dead skin is there. #And is like 'kimba violence is so cool and good. Do violence' #and then Kimba goes and beats the bull and kicks him out or something #i haven't seen it in forever so i could be wrong #i still have the dvd somewhere #tezuka talk #titi talks #sooooo yeah.
