#OC: Katherine Pike

Your OCs, for being nice to Laila, have received a gift! The severed heads of their worst enemies sit in a large burlap sack, the decapitation wounds all cauterized by her lightsaber so there's not blood everywhere. How do they react (let's be honest Eris would probably be into it)?

Rae: Is caught in one perpetual "what the fuck is going on here?" and doesn't really connect that it's related to helping Laila. She decides that the safest thing is to leave the heads where they are and call this in, and she and Warren stay back at the X-Mansion for a few days while an investigation is conducted. It's probably the safest option, since she's sure that people would notice the ones who have been killed and calling it in immediately helps them to be expunged as potential suspects.

Robin: Opens up the back and immediately shrieks, which of course sends Peter running in as fast as he can (since usually Robin isn't the screaming type). In the end, they call Charles and have him help them drop off the bag at the local police station without raising suspicion

Madison: Hikes into the woods with Bravo and buries the heads wayyy deep in the forest. Outwardly she's very contained and in control, but as soon as the heads are buried and the evidence is gone she's shaking all over as the situation really hits her. She's... hardcore rattled.

Ophelia: Calls the NYPD. Normally cops are not her friends, and she's definitely not a fan of having the pigs crawling around in her lab, but she's got a reputation to maintain (both as Argonaut and as the spokesperson for Denarii) and it's probably best just to turn this one over. Technically, she has never killed another human being, let alone in such a violent manner, and there are a lot of people to vouch for her, so she gets turned over as a suspect pretty quickly.

Gia: Doesn't seem to process that these are her worst enemies, sees a bag of severed heads and assumes this is some sort of threat towards her. She packs up as much of her clover and personal belongings as possible, abandons the rest, and just starts driving. (Or, on a lighter note, if she's with Kate at this point she'd stay over there for a while, or with Clint on his farm until the situation calms down a bit)

Jasper: Also assumes this is some kind of message, but more in a "they found out your boyfriend was in a horrible bus crash and was magically necromanced and now they're coming after you for it" kind of way. The only thing they can think to do is call the witches, but even that's not particularly helpful.

Kestrel: Is disgusted and perhaps a little frightened, but is able to dispose of the heads before anyone else notices. Most are chucked into the acidic tar pits at the far end of the preserve, and the rest are simply buried in the most uninhabitable patches of the woods to decompose. Perks of being a changeling on a magically-protected preserve - the cops will literally never find them, and legally they do not exist.

Katherine: Oh my god, can you IMAGINE? She'd be terrified out of her mind, her apartment would be closed down for the police investigation, she and Jace end up staying over with Emily (though neither of them are able to sleep much). This traumatizes her for real, we're talking genuine PTSD that affects her for YEARS.

Quinn: Initially thinks the heads are some sort of prop or special effect, up until she picks one up and realizes it's way too real. Thankfully she lives out in the desert, so she just drives out to the middle of nowhere and buries the heads in the sand so they'll decompose.

Eris: Absolutely would be into it, and wants to mount them all on pikes and display them around the outside of the apartment like the old English castles. It takes everything in Rick's power to convince them of what an absolutely horrible idea that is.

Nikoletta: Takes one look, and immediately turns around and goes back inside. "Get the cat carriers. We're moving. Right now."

ACCEPTED // PIKE EVERHEART

positive traits: brilliant, brave, determined negative traits: shy, awkward, remorseful

describe their arena: Pike was incredibly lucky to have been reaped during the year of the cyberspace arena. The arena was made to be the inside of a super computer. There was a storage unit, a giant fan for cooling, and a functioning memory card. The arena events consisted of a “firewall” which was a literal moving wall of fire, wire mutts that would use wires to grab and suffocate tributes, and an ad room. The ad room would be so loud with advertisements at random points unless the tributes found a way to download adblocker.

Pike only had to kill one person (knowingly) to win. It was in self defense of a tribute who didn’t like her. It was discovered, by Pike, how to download the adblocker, and went into the now empty room. When she entered the code, the noises stopped, and a door appeared. She quickly ran through the door, not knowing that it was the only way out of the arena. She had found it days before the gamemakers had expected her to find it, and she unknowingly killed four other tributes with the firewall that engulfed the entire arena, leaving Pike the sole survivor.

biography:

Onyx Everheart got pregnant seventeen years ago, and she was devastated when her boyfriend at the time did not want to help raise the child. Heartbroken, she went to her parents, Phil and Amethyst, for help. Being the wonderful people they were, they took their daughter back in, helping her financially and emotionally.

Onyx named her baby girl Pike Keyleth Everheart, after her two favorite characters in the stories her father used to tell her about the brave adventurers. When Pike was three years old, Onyx died of black lung, leaving her young daughter to live with her grandparents. Amethyst was a fixer, going to whoever needed help with their broken technology while Phil stayed at home to take care of Pike. As she grew up, Pike learned as much as she could from Amethyst about tech. When Pike was eleven, she lost her grandmother died of black lung, just like her mother.

Heartbroken, and sick of losing people she cared about to this pollution caused disease, Pike started work on an air purifier. It took a little under a year, but she created the first working air purifier for pollution. It was only able to purify the air of her grandfather’s room, but she was proud. Pike had extended her grandfather’s, although she called him Dad, lifespan by who knows how long? She was eventually able to gather the money and supplies needed to create a purifier for every room, but just barely, and she had to skip meals a few days a week to do so.

Despite her efforts, Pike’s father had grown very ill. Needing to take care of him, Pike became a fixer, just like her grandmother.

Even though she worked all day and most nights, Pike didn’t make enough money to support her family. Despite promising her father that she wouldn’t, she received tesserae the first year she was qualified to compete in the games, and “lucky” for her, she was reaped.

How did she feel about being chosen? Pike could answer this in one word: terrified. She assumed that since she needed to take tesserae so many times, other people would as well, giving her better odds of not being chosen. When she heard her name, her already pale face went pure white, and the peacekeepers had to escort her up onto the stage, since her body wouldn’t move. She was petrified with shock.

Losing her mother and grandmother, and receiving the need to take care of her father made Pike grow up a bit faster emotionally than her peers. People would describe her as “brilliant”, since she was the youngest person to start as a fixer at the age of twelve, and her inventing abilities are renowned around the town.

On the other hand, she is socially awkward around people she doesn’t know very well, so she firmly believed she was going to die in the games. She thought the only way to win is to get sponsors to like you, and since she is not very good at social interaction, she thought she wouldn’t get any sponsors. Despite this, she did her best to make herself likeable to everyone. 

When she won, she was the youngest victor since the second quarter quell, and it affected her greatly. Having to kill at such a young age damaged her, but she was mostly relieved that she would be able to take care of her father for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, his life only lasted another seven years. When her father died, Pike fell off the radar for a year, trying to cope with losing her last remaining family member. However, after watching Katniss Everdeen volunteer for her sister, Pike was inspired to come back and become a mentor for the games. If she could help even one kid see their family again, she would feel like her life was worth it.
