Jiraiya not only has tons of love to give, he is also in need of receiving every ounce of love you can muster

He always wants to touch you in some way, be it cuddling or holding hands or having his arm around you

To see his biggest, brightest smile, just give him a big ole smooch on the cheek

When Jiraiya comes back home from being on a mission, he scoops you up in a twirl and presses the warmest kiss on your lips

He's always got a present for you, of course

Jiraiya will spoil you as much as you let him

Seriously, if you don't tell him to stop he will not

He loves buying you pretty things and watching as you model your various jewelry and clothes

he also loves bending you over and seeing if those clothes can survive a good fucking

Jiraiya loves to hear how much you've missed him while he was away, so be sure to exaggerate just how bored you were

Ever since getting married, his Will of Fire has been replaced by the Will of Wife

Jiraiya is a wonderful husband, and some days it really hits you just how lucky you got with this man

He's not perfect, but he's perfectly yours and it fills you with so much love for your husband that it practically overflows your heart and next thing Jiraiya knows, he's getting kissed like your life depends on it

He doesn't know what he's done to deserve any of this, but as long as you keep kissing him like that and being his, he promises to keep doing anything in his power to continue being your man

Being married to Jiraiya isn't free of headaches, but it's rewarding all the same just to see that goofy, sleepy smile of his every time you wake up

Honestly I think Jiraiya might have been a better teacher for Sakura or Sasuke. Like his previous students were Minato "I'm gonna create my own jutsu and also learn something only the Second Hokage could do", Yahiko Konan and Nagato "being starving war orphans won't stop us from being the biggest badasses ever - oh and dying oops". Like he's used to teaching self-motivated and intelligent people like Sasuke "my life goal is murder" Uchiha and Sakura "learned how to be a top-tier doctor in two fucking years" Haruno.

Like Naruto admittedly has many good qualities but he is also. Genuinely stupid. I mean this with compassion. Bro did not know what chakra was until Sakura explained it to him and contrary to fanon belief we have no indication any teachers were fucking with his education in canon. Like Jiraiya is not suited to him as a teacher and it shows because he comes back after 2 years with him and has learned basically nothing lmao. He needs someone who is willing to sit down with him and force knowledge into is head and Jiraiya is not that.

Jiraiya arrives back at your shared apartment late in the evening, his feet dragging across the floor. He had been expecting you to have stayed up waiting for him like you usually did. But for once, as he enters the dimly lit apartment and ventures through looking for you, he sees your figure curled up as small as possible on the bed you share.

He tilts his head curiously, shaking any thoughts of concern away as he stretches and cracks his back. He groans lowly, stripping from his dirtied day clothes and climbing into bed beside you. It doesn’t take too long before he’s starting to fall asleep, blissfully unaware of how horrible of a day you’ve had. You turn over and look at him, snoring softly beside you.

You wonder how he does it. After everything he’s seen and every thing he’s been through, you wonder how he’s managed to always fall asleep so easily and manages to sleep through the night.

Perhaps you were over reacting. What you were feeling wasn’t too bad and you didn’t need to bother him or wake him after he’s had such a long and busy day.

It’s not until you turn back over onto your side like you had been when he walked in, that he mumbles something almost incoherent. When he feels you tense, he sighs softly. “Alright, speak up. What’s going on?” He turns onto his side to face you, giving you a moment before taking your silence as unwillingness to talk.

“Well, fine. I didn't want to talk to you either anyway. No welcome home, honey. I see how it is!” He slips a strong arm around you and tugs you back into his chest, not allowing you to slip too far away from him. “It’s okay… You don’t have to say anything. If you’ve had a long day, that’s alright. But I want you to know that no matter what, no matter what your pretty little brain tells you, I’m always going to be here for you. Even when I’m old and grouchy!” He chuckles and sighs, listening to your breathing as silence falls back over the room.

You turn in his arms and tuck your head beneath his chin, giving into him in the exact way he knew you would. Regardless of whatever was going through your head in the moment, you knew you could rely on him and he would never expect anything in return. Based on the explicit novels he writes, many wouldn’t expect him to be such an attentive partner outside of sex. But luckily for you, you got to see a side of him that no one else ever would get the opportunity to be able to.

Once Jiraiya was devoted, he was locked in for life. He was set on you and you alone. Sure his novels detailed rather risqué encounters, but all of them were inspired by you, of course.

“You’re a dork.”

He feigns shock, hurt, his hand on his heart before taking your hand on his stomach and guiding it up to rest over his calm heart. “Feel that? My heart only beats for you, my love. And yet you wound me, insulting me when I pour my heart out to you.”

You find yourself laughing quietly as his fingers dance along your spine. “Thank you, Jiraiya…” You whisper, sinking into him even more. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Luckily for you, you’ll never have to find out.” He plants a sloppy kiss on your forehead much to your dismay, “Now quit with your whining! I haven't even done anything to you to hear it, and it’s not even the type of whining I like!” You push him away and huff, turning your back to him as he lets out a rather boisterous laugh, “Come back here. You aren’t getting too far from me. I’ll never let you get too far. I’ll be a pain in your ass for the rest of our lives.”

“Thanks for the reminder,” you mumble unamused, but a small smile creeps onto your face at the reminder of a certain ceremony you’ll be partaking in with him in just a matter of a few days.
