The best and the worst thing about SPN is the lack of mystique anything is allowed to maintain. Like the writers will present a concept that fucking slaps and feels huge and unknowable. And then a season later they'll put it on screen and it becomes immediately small and bland and defeatable.
The Empty is a perfect example. The first time Billie mentioned it, it sounded so fucking cool. This previously-unknown dimension where angel and demon souls go that NOTHING gets out of, ever.
Then we get to see it and it's just. A black screen. And Cas gets out.
Same with the afterlife. Remember the hope-dread-wonder of seeing Molly fade into the sunrise in Roadkill? When we knew nothing about the afterlife except that presumably there was a Hell for people who sold their souls? And now we know Heaven is a featureless white hotel hallway full of stuffy nerds in pale gray suits and Hell is a kitschy gothic castle with a torture dungeon.
Don't even get me started on Purgatory. Desaturated couples counseling camping trip.
I hate it. I love it. It's so badgood just like everything about this show.

I feel like I should post on here more, given how much I lurk, but most of the time I just stare at that empty text screen and lose my thought.
On the plus side I managed in my distraction to find a good looking recipe for rice pudding using short grain Japanese rice of all things, meaning I don’t have to buy extra rice just for rice pudding. I’ll call that a success!

maybe insane of me but i find goodsirs victorian neoliberalism one of the most offputting things about him and also the main reason i enjoy him as a character. goodsirs the kinda guy who would use language like "people experiencing homelessness" but if a methhead came up to him asking for change he'd insist on buying that guy a sandwich instead of giving them actual money and try to direct them to a local (overcrowded) shelter or perhaps even a church. hickey would just sell that guy meth. and thats one of the most offputting things about hickey and also the main reason i enjoy hickey as a character.
