In Evil Librarian, there's a running gag that all demons just love Sweeney Todd- like, they absolutely adore it. To the point that none of them can even consider killing anyone who is currently in a production of it (When one demon moves in on the main demon's turf, a highschool putting on Sweeney Todd as their show this year, they literally have a conversation like 'okay so we'll divvy up the student body and the staff to eat later on, don't even think about touching my consort or i'll kill you, oh and they're doing Sweeney Todd'- 'oh really?? How wonderful. So obviously the whole cast and crew are off limits then' 'yes exactly, I'll get you the performance times. Anyway- get in my way and I will destroy you')-
And I can't help headcanon-ing that Inkubus is the same way XDD

It is so almost exactly like soaking your cuticles pre-manicure that I am half expecting Principal Kingston to whip out a nail file. Instead he glances at Mr. Gabriel and then reaches out to clamp his hands over mine, holding them in place.

Last song: Blinding Lights - The Weekend
Currently watching: the Watcher guys put out a new season of Ghost Files and I’m nothing if not a sucker for funny spooky stuff I can consume without triggering my brain weasels
Currently reading: Uhhh
I just got a job as a school librarian (more or less) and I found this stuffed in an old filing cabinet in my office

exciting stuff I know.
Also, this morning I was reading Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen because I’m going to structure a class around it, and out of nowhere had to go lock myself in the bathroom because I thought I was going to start bawling because I HAVE WANTED TO DO THIS FOR SO LONG YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
Current obsession: uhm… Sandman. Yeah, still, and for the long-foreseeable future. But also, see above about the new job. It is Consuming Me because getting thrown headfirst into it is Terrifying.
And starfruit trees. I am determined to have one. We got fruit from three different sources (fancy schmancy organic grocery store, ye olde regular grocery store, and the back yard of some lady we know) and I have eight different labeled pots in different locations and we’re waiting to see which seeds are viable. I’m guessing Team Lady’s Back Yard will win.

Adventures in Librarian-ing
Me: *about to read Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen* So, before we read today's story: Did you guys know that some real life libraries have cats that live in them?
Grade 1s: :O
Me: *tells the kiddos a bit more about the history of library cats; they're very impressed* Some libraries have dogs instead of kitties though.
Grade 1 Kid: *raises their hand excitedly* The library we go to has a pet fish!
Me: So they have a library fish!
Grade 1 Kid: *happilly, clearly pleased I got where he was going with this* Yeah!
Me: And, in a way, we have our very own library cat too, we have Pete the Cat!
Other Grade 1 Kid: *rolls her eyes, clearly thinking I'm being silly* He's a stuffie, not a real cat.
Me: He's still a cat, though. It counts.

Mr. Gabriel is standing in the center of the room, facing slightly away from us. The tables have been cleared away against the bookshelves, and a giant and disturbing shape has been drawn in chalk on the floor. Its unpleasant lines and angles form a kind of frame around the librarian, who seems to have sprouted large black bat-like wings. Also, long twisty black horns of some kind are now spiralling out of the top of his head. He is bending slightly forward, looking at the floor, muttering something incomprehensible in a low, guttural voice.
He's not dancing around, at least. So there's something.
After an eternity of standing there in the doorway, trying to take this in, I hear Ryan's voice speaking from what seems a great distance.
"You were right. I was able to tell right away."
Mr. Gabriel slowly turns, raising his head. The amount of blood spattered across his light-blue button-down shirt makes me gasp. Whose blood is that? Where did it come from? There is blood on the floor, too, I realise. A lot of it. There is so much that I think there cannot be very much left at all inside whomever it came out of.
"Oops," Mr. Gabriel says. "Thought I locked those." Then grins. It is not a comforting expression. Especially with those fangs.
"You're- " Ryan appears to be trying to think of something appropriate to say.
"John Gabriel, the new Librarian," Mr. Gabriel says brightly. "Pleased to meet you!"
"But you're- you're not- " Ryan stops, shallows, starts again. "You're not human," he says. He seems to feel it is very important to point this out. Perhaps in case Mr. Gabriel was not aware.
Mr. Gabriel's terrifying grin grows even larger, stretching impossibly across his face. He begins to laugh. Then he stops laughing and winks at us.
"Strangely, the job description did not specify that as a requirement."

Aaron is jumping around at the end of his tether like an overexcited dog, visibly beside himself with happiness. He's gazing lovingly at his bloody, exhausted, exhilarated fish-featured demoness with the same naked want as when she was in human form. Perhaps more. She spares him a tolerant, fond smile, which is particularly disturbing with her long eel's mouth, and I swear he almost loses consciousness from bliss.
