Now feels like as good a time as any to let folks know that I was published in Candlewick Press's anthology, AB(SOLUTELY) NORMAL. This anthology features 16 different authors portraying authentic experiences with mental health, in various storytelling forms. I'm featured with a graphic novella, MY SISTER RAFAELA IS A GOOD PERSON. My story is about how people heal together, and touches on PTSD, Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, and cultural values when it comes to healing.
We've received some lovely reviews, including my favorite from Publishers Weekly:
[T]his sensitive work authentically portrays its teen characters as complex beings whose positive relationships—with friends and family, and with their own mental health—exude hope.
Check it out at your local library or bookstore today!

Rhiannon Giddens’s second book, We Could Fly, is due October 10 from Candlewick Press, available to pre-order here.
The new picture book, a companion to her debut book, Build a House, released last October, gives wing to a tale of grace and transcendence, draws on lyrics from the song “We Could Fly,” which Giddens wrote with Dirk Powell and recorded for her 2017 Nonesuch album, Freedom Highway. It draws on a heritage of African folklore for a dialogue between a mother and daughter, paired with illustrations by Briana Mukodiri Uchendu that celebrate love, resilience, and the spiritual power of the “old-time ways”—tradition and shared cultural memory—to sustain and uplift.

The history of witchcraft and how society has perceived witches and it is surprising nothing has changed that much. Reading about witches and the history behind is something that should be done all year round but it is done most…
