Eddie Munson doesn’t know how to listen to good sense. Don’t go flirting with pretty boys. Definitely don’t go falling for pretty boys. Don’t go poking around where you don’t belong. Don’t go back into the mall where a giant spider monster is trying to kill your friends… Or: a story of how Eddie Munson stumbles into something so much bigger than he ever planned by walking into Scoops Ahoy. Read or listen on AO3

El and Max watch Bride of Frankenstein. Part 1.
It was a time for "Night Chillers". Well, to be honest, it's not like fifty year old film could REALLY scare anyone at this point. Times have changed, since the black and white era.
Doesn't mean it wasn't still entertaining though. Or Max wouldn't sit in the middle of the main room, eagerly waiting for movie to start. Well, maybe entertainment wasn't the only contributing factor. After all, she wouldn't come all the way to Hoppers' house, just to watch movie she could easily watch at home.
Max brushed shoulders with El, who was jittering from the excitement this whole time. Watching girl be so happy never failed to bring smile to Max's lips. El hit quite a growth spurt since she turned 16. She was pretty much the tallest in they little party. Joyce would often blame it on Hop's influence. "At this rate, she's going to outgrow you", she would say jokingly. Although, how much of a joke left in those words at this point was a tricky question.
Guys got El into classic monsters at the start of this month, when channel six run a Universal marathon: Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy and Wolfman. Marathon was promised to continue, but it seems, something went wrong. Last week, was showing of Dracula's daughter, which whole group decided to skip. Or more like guys decided and Max wasn't there, to object. Max still blamed herself, for allowing that to happen.
But tonight, things are different. It's just her and El. No Mike, Lucas or Dustin to ruin the show. They are going to watch Bride of Frankenstein and there's nothing that can stop them.
"Are you ready for this?" - Max asked, as ancient logo of Universal Studios appeared on screen.
"Yes!" - El screamed from excitement. She covered her mouth, embarrassed by this outburst, but Max's contagious giggle made her laugh too.
The movie started, but instead of familiar faces of Henry Frankenstein and his friends, there was a room, full of unfamiliar people, surrounding one lone lady.
"Who's that?" - El asked, taking a sip of her soda.
"That's Mary Shelley. She wrote Frankenstein", - Max nodded to the girl.
"She made a movie?" - El asked, a bit confused.
"No, she wrote a book, movie based on",
"Oh, I see", - El nodded.
"She was very young, when she wrote it too. That makes her even more awesome".
"I thought only old men can write books", - El said, looking at Max in confusion.
"No", - Max chuckled. - "Everyone can write a book".
"Even me?" - El's eyes grew three sizes.
"Of course! I think you'll write a great book", - Max said, slightly ruffling El's messy hair. It never failed to make Eleven smile. And there was something special about way she would smile, that warmed Maxine's insides.
It wasn't that redhead was really impressed with brunette's writing. Or even saw her write at all. It's just she is convinced, that if she won't support El's ideas, no one else will.
Finally, the unrelated prologue ends. Movie goes back to the wreackage of burned windmill. It seems, no living creature could survive it and there is a mob of villagers, celebrating death of Monster. But El watches tentatively, waiting for the creation to appear. And when it climbs out on surface, burned, tattered, but still very much alive, El celebrates as if seeing an old friend once again.
Sure, everybody loves Frankenstein. But it felt, as if Eleven had special connection with the Monster. Max noticed it before, back when they watced first movie. But now, she was reminded of just how much El loved big guy.
"Sorry", - El whispered, covering her mouth again.
"It's okay", - Max whispered back, reassuringly touching El's elbow.
Story went back to Henry Frankenstein. He was resting at home, surrounded by friends, servants and with loving wife. Max theatracaly yawned, to show her disbain for such lifestyle. El repeated after her, but with much less conviction. Suddenly, a late guest arrives. One of the servants, old lady, looking like a disheveld parrot went to door to open. In it, was standing tall and thin man, with wrinkles on his face and white hair.
"Papa..." - sound was barely above whisper, so Max wasn't sure if she even actually heard something or not. But she noticed how El hugged her legs closer to chest.
Pretorius was total villain. The kind you love to hate. And yet, it was pretty clear, that El felt discomfort every time this crusty old man appeared on screen. And it definetly didn't help, when he wiped out his little people, contained in small prison like bottles.
Eleven looked much happier, whenever movie would switch back to the Monster. He wasn't evil, It didn't wanted to hurt anybody. And yet, people would hunt it down, like wild animal. They hated the monster... just because it was unlike them. Seeing the poor thing chained draw Eleven nearly to tears...
"We can stop, if you don't want to see it", - Max whispered, tracing circles on El's back
"N-no", - El sniffled, - "Let's keep goiong".

She's really outgoing and approached you first
She was straight to the point with what she wanted [Or at least she tried]; To be your friend
The first time she saw you was at the arcade. She wanted to approach you then, to maybe start up a conversation, but you were surrounded by a group of people. You were about to beat the top score of a game that hadn't been passed before. People were cheering you on and that's how she found out your name was Y/n
After the people finally leave and you go to a table, drinking a coke, she approaches you. Her hands are close together and she has this weird feeling in her stomach. What if you don't like her? Oh god, she's starting to think this is a bad idea, but before she could back out, you look over to her having felt her presence
"Um... Hi?"
She awkwardly waves and slowly walks over to you. She gestures towards the game you were just at, "I saw your game"
You awkwardly chuckle, gesturing for her to sit next to you. "Yeah, I've been trying to beat that stupid game for months. Hi, I'm Y/n. Are you new to town? I've never seen you before."
She then tells you how she is new and gives you her name and you quickly become friends
You hit it off really well, because you both share many of the same interest
She was ecstatic when seeing you in her class
She's very protective of you
If anyone ever talks bad about you, she's quick to defend you
Definitely starts fights that you have to drag her away from
She prefers your house over hers, because of her brother [And mom]
She hates when Billy talks to you, because everything he says is rude and offensive. Billy does NOT like you. Mainly because he hates Max being happy
When the mall opens up, you both go together a lot [with Eleven third wheeling]
Cute little ice-cream dates and Movie dates
She loves looking at you and listening to you talk
You don't hate Mike, but you will listen to her complain about him
And BOY does she complain
You'd think he was the devil himself with the way she talks about him
Speaking of her talking about people, whenever she talks about you to other people, she doesn't shut up. She goes on and on and smiles while she talks about you
You're an important part of her life and the guidance counselor, Kelly, knows about you. You're the only thing keeping Max sane
You're the only person Max trusts after her brother's death. She can't lose you and that becomes her biggest fear

Toast
Link to ao3 for the stranger things writers guild daily drabble!
“I’m going to skip asking how you got into my house this morning, and go straight to what the fuck happened in here?!” Steve shouted after he finally got the window open, watching the smoke pour out into the open air.
The kitchen was, in a word, a complete and utter wreck. Egg shells littered the counter tops, batter was dripping from the ceiling, flour was layered on the floor like freshly fallen snow, and two bedraggled teenagers were standing in front of him looking extremely forlorn.
“We were trying to make you breakfast,” Dustin sighed as Max dragged a path through the flour with the toe of her sneaker, still not looking up at him.
“Why?!” Steve cried, throwing his hands up, starting to get actually angry. He had woken from a wonderfully peaceful sleep to the smell of smoke and the fire alarm blaring in his ears, and he still had no clue what was going on. All he knew was they were in big, big, trouble.
The kids knew they were semi-permanently banned from being in the kitchen. They knew that. Especially if he wasn’t around to stop them from their ‘experiments’ with food! Steve didn’t put his foot down about a lot of things, but this was the one thing that the entire Party actually listened to him on.
So now they had not only broken in, but broken in to go against probably the only rule he had for them. He wasn’t usually a hardass, but this might merit a phone call to both of their mothers.
“Why?” Steve repeated, his teeth gritted against the yell that was threatening to come bursting out of his throat.
“Because it’s Father’s Day, jackass,” Max snapped, finally turning her glare upward, as if challenging Steve to say anything.
The anger instantly vanished. Steve’s mouth shut like a trap, and his eyes opened comically wide.
He had forgotten. There wasn’t really any point in remembering. Vaguely he knew that was why Robin and Eddie wouldn’t be able to hang out today, and that was the reason that everyone else would also be busy, but now he was hit full force by the fact that he wasn’t the only one without a dad today.
Or, apparently he was, because according to Dustin and Max, he was the one they were going to celebrate today with.
And that wasn’t terrifying at all. Nope. Steve wasn’t freaked out by that whatsoever.
It wasn’t like he didn’t know that the kids saw him as someone to look up to. But there was knowing that, and there was having the two without father figures break into his house just to try and make him something to show that they cared about him.
And Steve had spent the better part of the last ten minutes lecturing them.
“Well, the toast survived,” He said slowly, walking around Dustin and Max and over to the kitchen table where two pieces of sad burnt toast were sitting on a blue china plate.
“Barely,” Dustin grumbled, turning and leaning into Steve’s side. Max hooked her chin over Steve’s shoulder to join them in staring at the slightly depressing toast.
“Don’t be mean to my toast. It was made with love,” Steve defended, grabbing the plate and holding it high above their heads as both kids groaned and reached up to take it away, complaining about how gross he was being.
“Let’s take this inside and watch some tv. Then we can clean this up, and I’ll show you guys how to properly make breakfast,” Steve declared, already going towards the living room, “You know, for next Father’s Day. ”

Okay I've seen posts where they're like "If Max went to California instead of Mike she would've actually stopped Angela at the roller rink," Or they talk about how Max would've thrown hands with Angela and while I agree I offer you this take:
El would not have taken Max to the roller rink in the first place. El would not have lied about the difficult time she was having in California to Max. She would have told Max about her struggles with fitting in and talked about her grief with 'loosing' Hopper. El would not have tried to pretend to be someone she was not with Max.
Her friendship with Max runs deep despite it being relatively new. We've seen them be there for each other time and time again. Max going to California instead of Mike would have given El a chance to cling to something she knows is true and stable, unlike her rocky relationship with Mike.
If anything, Max would be the one showing El around. Maybe taking her to the beach, teaching her how to surf, taking her to Cali based fast food chains that Max had missed in Hawkins. They would have fallen back into each other, found comfort in their mixed feelings and grief. Max could've opened up about her feelings around Billy's death.
They have a very open and honest relationship and more importantly they know that one will not judge the other. This is literally canon. So yes while I love to think about Max rocking Angela's shit, I just don't think that the roller rink fiasco would have happened. El wouldn't have taken Max there because she nothing to prove to her.
