Okay but seriously, as much as I really want Alex at Mercedes, I do think there's multiple pros and cons to the whole idea...
Pro: Alex gets a second chance at a (hopefully still) top team and he deserves it. He walked away at the end of 2020 and he WORKED to get back on the grid and probably made himself a better driver because of it and so he definitely deserves to get a second chance that so few drivers genuinely get to have.
Con: Alex struggled at Red Bull because the pressure was insane. Is he thriving because Williams culture is really working for him and would a move to somewhere like Merc heap the pressure back on him and disrupt his vibe?
Pro: Mercedes pinned so much of their branding on Lewis and haven't fully integrated George into that yet and so they need someone to build that image with them and keep sponsors interested. Alex is great at PR, is popular, has a great personality and he and George effortlessly bounce off each other. The best friends to teammates thing could be a marketing wet dream because brands and sponsors love 'a story' they can work with. Mercedes would have two drivers who are up for doing dumb content
Con: Alex hates marketing work, and Mercedes would be a big increase on those sort of responsibilities for him, especially having to juggle a long term long distance relationship into the mix. (Although George does love the attention and may be more than willing to pick up the slack)
Pro: He and George know each other, they're as close if not closer than Lewis and Nico were. They know how to handle each other so you don't have that awkward teammates who don't know how to work together shtick going on. They know each others triggers and how to deal with each other when they're down
Con: They're as close if not closer than Lewis and Nico were and we all know how that one went. They know each others triggers and how to use them for evil. Toto is now in his 50s and his heart might not survive.
Pro: The continued lore of them looking out for each other and vouching for each other to get jobs and just being generally supportive besties needs to be continued and never end
Con: I don't want Alex to be reduced to George's prop and I'm worried that the constant narrative of George 'getting Alex jobs' is in danger of getting a bit white saviour and patronising. Alex gets these jobs because he deserves them and I don't want it to get twisted.

╰───────────✧──────────────╮
I drink from my cup of coffee and finish writing the email I was writing for the Marketing and Communication area. I can't help it, but I overhear the heated argument Toto is having with Andrew Shovlin, Mercedes' chief engineer, in his office. As far as I understand, the last race hasn’t gone bad at all but it is still not enough. A third and fourth place means nothing if you can have the first two.
My phone rings for the fifth time in an hour and I ignore it again. I don't even have to read the screen to know it's my father. He's been calling me for days, so at this point, he must be catching a flight to England to find out if I'm still alive. I don't need him to take care of me or worry in any way, I'm fine on my own.
Well... alone, not alone. Alessia, who is as alone as I am in this country, messages me almost daily to tell me how she is doing with her violin practice and even sends me videos to show me her progress. For my part, I talk a lot but I don't want to overwhelm her with my things so I limit myself to listening to her. This afternoon we would meet to have brunch at a cafe in London.
“I don't want you to come back here until you solve the fucking problem, Andrew!” I hear Toto's clear scream when Shovlin opens the door and then closes it so hard that I thought he would break it.
"Your boss is an idiot," the engineer complains.
“My boss is yours,” I mock, “and if I were you I would be careful, because he has ears everywhere.”
"I don't care anymore," he murmurs, "let him know he's an idiot!" he exclaims loud enough for the Austrian to hear.
“You behave like children, isn't it simpler...?” Before I finish speaking, the company cell phone starts ringing so I answer it. “Sorry, I must attend,” I excuse myself and the British man nods with a smile. I thought he was going to leave to let me continue with my work but he stayed waiting for the call to end. “Mr. Wolff's office, this is his secretary speaking.”
"Yes, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, Miss Cruz," exclaims the girl at the reception who, if I remember correctly, is called Abby, so I decide to take the risk.
“Oh, Abby, has something happened?”
"There is a situation down here and I wanted to know if you could come and explain to Mr. Alonso why I can't let him pass without an appointment," she murmurs.
“Mr. Alonso?” I question and she makes a noise of agreement. “The driver?”
“Yes, Miss. He insists that it is important and that it should enter despite not having a date,” I think for a moment before giving her an answer. Toto doesn't have any other appointment for today, I could give him a place if it's so urgent.
“Let him in, I'll take care of it, don't worry. And... Abby,” I call her.
“Tell me.”
"Don't Miss me and call me Victoria," I ask her. I end the call after that and the man sitting in front of me is still there, waiting for the perfect moment to say whatever he wants to say.
“It's good to see that you are adapting well, Vicky.”
“Victoria,” I correct him. “It 's Victoria. Nobody calls me Vicky”
“Well, I could do it if you let me.”
“Excuse me?”
“You know…” the look he gave me was more than enough to understand what he was trying to say and the simple thought of me dating again made me want to vomit.
“No, I don't know,” I respond, playing dumb.
“Wouldn't you like us to go out on a date?” he dares to ask. One star for the effort, but the answer is still no.
“Andrew, I seriously don't mix work with my personal relationships,” without even allowing him to argue, the lift doors open and reveal Alonso.
“Victoria!” exclaims the Spaniard. "How nice to see you," he says as he approaches my desk. The Englishman notes that he had to continue working, so he quickly says goodbye and leaves along the same path that the chestnut tree had come from. “Am I interrupting something?”
"My work day," I pronounce in our native language. “If you need to speak with Toto, I regret to inform you that it is by appointment. I can give you a number that you can call…”
“And do I also need an appointment to see the assistent?” I'm serious when I ask: what's wrong with men?
"Especially to see the assistant," I conclude, handing him the paper. Yes, I was going to let him in, but I didn't like the secretary's comment at all.
"This place is very nice," he exclaims in a vague attempt to get me to chat. He plays with the flower that I have placed on my desk and comes closer to smell it. “Very natural.”
“The only natural thing in this building is the flower I put here. The rest is all glass.”
“Yes, but it gives good light.”
"Listen, I don't want to be rude but I don't know if you understand that you need an appointment to speak with Mr. Wolff," I remind him. “Likewise, you could leave me your question and then I will send you the answer using the number that I wrote down on the paper. I´m sure that Toto has your number.”
“And is this yours?” he dares to ask and resigns himself when he receives no answer. “I don't want you to make fun of me with what I'm going to ask.”
“If you come looking for a seat, I´m afraid that we already have a world champion who is more than capable of continuing to perform on the track.”
"I don't doubt it," he answers with the same sarcasm as me. “In fact, I came to ask him if there was any clause in his secretary's contract that prohibited her from dating people from other teams.”
“And why don't you ask me directly?”
"Because you would tell me to fuck you," he says simply.
“You're a bastard.”
“Go on a date with me and let me prove to you that I'm not.”
“Men like you think you're very smart, Fernando, and let me tell you something, you're not. Just because you're attractive and a millionaire doesn't mean we're all going to fall for you. That's not how this works.”
“Do you think I'm attractive?” he asks hopefully.
"Hey, Victoria," my boss's voice falls as he sees who is sitting in front of me. “Fernando,” exclaims with surprise, “you are very far from Enstone, aren´t you?”
“Yes, I wanted to ask something but Victoria was able to answer my question in efficiently,” he looks at me funny and I, on the other hand, want to kill him. “She's a very good secretary,” congratulates me. “If you're looking for a job, Alpine will welcome you with open arms and... well, not just Alpine,” at that last comment, he leaves where he came from.
“Did he give you problems?” Toto asks with concern.
“Nothing I couldn't handle,” I admit, and that seems to calm him down.
"I came to tell you that you can go now if you want, there's not much else to do here and I want to get home early today before Susie puts me to sleep on the couch," he pats my shoulder in goodbye and locks himself in his room again to close everything.
I put the things I had used during the day in my bag and leave the building as soon as possible. I still had almost two hours of travel time to London waiting for me for a type of snack-dinner with Ale in a place called Bake-sonalities, which, according to the Italian, is an amazing pastry shop.
I'm driving around England trying to adapt to driving on the opposite side to what I'm used to. The car is very comfortable and large and, well, obviously from Mercedes. I can't complain about the job. Everything is perfect. Yes, perfect, and I should be grateful but I can't help but wonder if all the things I'm leaving behind are worth the same as the things that await me here.
The car's small screen lights up and I know it's a call but I can't see who it's from. Damn, I have to set this up.
“Hello?”
“Victoria! What are these hours of answering the phone?” Am I an asshole or what? Obviously it was my father.
“Dad, hello... How are you?”
“Good, how am I going to be?” he questions in a bad way. “I'm interested in how you are.”
“Well, I'm going to London to have dinner with a friend.”
“I'm glad you've made a friend, Vicky!”
"Don't call me that," I murmur. “Nobody calls me that anymore.”
“Yes, but it's still your nickname here. He put it on you and it stayed on you.”
“Well, he cheated on me, is that just why everyone is going to cheat on me too?” I realize the abrupt tone I used instantly so I take it back. “I'm sorry.”
“It's ok. I know having a broken heart hurts, but that doesn't mean you can't trust again," he murmurs.
“I don't need distractions like that right now, I just want to focus on important matters, like work.”
“Matters of the heart are important too.”
"Dad..." I exclaim in a warning tone.
“I know, it's your life and it's not my concern, but it's my job to tell you that you deserve a beautiful and healthy love, not like those two attempts at relationships you had.”
"At least you didn't meet the first one," I say in a mocking tone, trying to lighten the atmosphere.
“And thank goodness because if I found out that an eighteen-year-old idiot was dating my fourteen-year-old daughter, I was going to send him to prison.”
"Now, don't be angry," I smile almost without realizing it when I notice how much I had missed my father.
“At least you're already in England. You already have the new beginning you wanted and you are happy, that's the important thing. You now have the new beginning you wanted.”
And I'm happy with that because, when I left, the decision was made because I finally decided to stop waiting for something to change so I stopped making such stupid decisions - like begging my ex-boyfriend to love me - and I realized that it was me who had to change.
“Victoria?” my father catches my attention. “Are you still there?”
“Here I am.”
“You already regretted having left,” he's not asking me, he's stating it, which makes me feel even worse. “Maybe your mother was right and it was a mistake” bringing my mother into the conversation makes uncontrollable anger grow inside me.
“Well yes, it is a mistake. I know it was a mistake,” I admit, “but there are certain things that you know are a mistake but you don't really know they are because the only way to really know if it's a mistake is to make it and look back and say -it was a mistake-. But, really, the biggest mistake is not... making that mistake” of repeating the word "mistake" so many times, my sentence sounded like a tongue twister but it was understood. I understood it.
“If you want to return, you know that you will always have a position here in the company.”
"I don't want a fucking position in the fucking family business," I mutter.
“I'm trying to take care of my daughter, Victoria, and I'm running out of options.”
“I don't need you to take care of me, you never did. I've always managed very well on my own so I don't need you to come here to act as father of the year. I am not your charity, and in no way am I going to allow you to lock me in the family business like you do with Manuel”
I know that my brother is a delicate subject for him because he is his child, the first-born, the loose cannon that they could save. A fucking idiot that for some reason I love, like the rest of the men in my family.
"Okay," he says, ending the talk. “Drive carefully, please?”
“Yes, don't worry,” I look at the GPS and notice that I'm 10 minutes away. “I'm almost there. Hey Dad…”
“Tell me.”
I love you.
I'm sorry.
I miss you.
I want to see you.
Come to England.
I love you from here to the moon.
I love you, dad, very much.
Please.
I'm sorry.
“We'll talk later, I've found a good place to park,” I swallow each of the words I wanted to say to him because it's not something that's common in my family. Talking about feelings has never been our strong suit.
I say goodbye to my father and end the call. The parking spot part wasn't a lie. So, after spending two hours trying to get the car into a giant place where, clearly, I wasn't going to hit anyone, I headed to the bakery, which was just a block away.
London is beautiful. If it wasn't so far from the Mercedes base I would live here or in Edinburgh. It can't be, I'm dying to visit Edinburgh.
The bakery's bell jingles as I enter the blue-framed glass door, catching the attention of Alessia and the brunette girl behind the counter. The aroma of the environment gives me a feeling of warmth and home. I don't know what that smell is but I definitely want one of those.
“Victoria!” Alessia greets, meeting me halfway to give me a big hug, which I reciprocate somewhat surprised. “I hope the trip hasn't been long for you.”
“Quite the opposite, it went away in a flash. Ale, do you know what smells so good?”
“Let's ask Evie,” she offers me. We stop in front of the counter to wait for the brunette, whose name seems to be Evie, and I take the opportunity to observe the place carefully.
It is not very big, but not too small either; It seems to be the clearest example that customers receive personalized attention because it should not be a coincidence that each one has a cake that seems to represent them so well at first glance, not to mention their faces of pleasure when trying the desserts.
"Here I am, I'm sorry," comments the one who would swear that she is the owner of the place, well, she is alone here. The brunette looks at me with a smile so I decide to introduce myself.
“I'm Victoria, my pleasure.”
“And I'm Evie, the pleasure is mine," she exclaims kindly. "Ale told me that you work in Formula 1. My boyfriend too," she says with a smile.
“I'm actually Toto's assistant,” Evie's kindness and energy made me forget about the whole talk with my father a moment ago. “I'm sorry to ask this way but I feel that if I don't I won't stay calm,” my friend, who is still by my side, laughs when she hears me say that. “What smells so good?”
“I just finished the Black Forest cake, that could be a guess. Now that I think about it, it looks perfect on you.”
“The cake?”
"No way, Evie, it's true," Ale agrees.
“I will trust your opinions then and Black Forest will be.”
“Noted. Ale, the usual?”
“You know so.”
“Then a portion of the Black Forest and an individual tower of profiteroles for you.”
Once we have our orders, we sit at one of the tables near the window to have a view of the beautiful London streets.
"Try it, I want to see your face when you try Evie's pastry," the Italian asks. I look at her with a smile before cutting a piece with a fork and putting it in my mouth. Suddenly, I feel like I'm in that scene from Ratatouille where the flavors explode in Remy's mouth. The dark chocolate mixed with the creamy cherries made me close my eyes and taste as if I had tasted a sweet for the first time. "Welcome to Bake-sonalities," Ale mocks when she sees my face of pleasure.
“It's the most delicious thing I've had in a long time. This is better than having an orgasm.”
“Victoria!” exclaims Ale, laughing at my comment. "Now, stop having an orgasm while eating and tell me about your day," she asks.
“Quite strange, really. An engineer, well, the chief engineer of the company offered me to go on a date.”
“Wow, and what did you say?”
“No, obviously. And then something even stranger happened. Your little friend's friend... the Spanish one,” I remind her.
"Fernando," she guesses, drinking from his cup. “What has happened to him?”
“He went to the office and flirted with me as if we were in high school. It 's ridiculous.”
“Wait, wait... What?”
“I swear. He went to the office, made a fuss at the front desk, and then went to my desk to see if I had a clause in my contract that would allow me to date people from other teams. He's an idiot who thinks that by being attractive he'll get whatever he wants.”
“That doesn't even count as flirting anymore, it was wild... Wait, did you say attractive?”
“I have eyes, Ale. I can admit that a man is attractive and that doesn't make me want to fuck him.”
“Yeah, you're right,” silence arose between us until the Italian woman seemed to fall into what I said. “Also, did he drive to Brackley to ask that? I knew about his interest in you but I didn't think it was that big of a deal.”
“His interest in me? Literally today was the second time he saw me.”
"I don't know, he's crazy," she says, laughing. “He asked Seb and I to help him win you over and mentioned some love at first sight.”
“An idiot.”
“Don't you believe in love at first sight?”
“Ale, I barely believe in love.”
“Look, this is the only attempt I will make to make you fall in love with him: he is a good man who helped Seb during his divorce.”
“Yes, only because he already went through one. And by the way, how are things going between you and Seb?”
“The same, I don't want to pressure him with anything but his children will come home on the weekend and I will take care of them during... you know, this whole legal issue.”
"Yeah, that's shit," I exclaim before shoving another bite of cake into my mouth. “Ale, you have to try it,” I ask her.
This is how my friend and I spent the afternoon: between desserts and coffee. Telling us paddock gossip and emptying the dessert case for Evie. As night falls, I notice that it is time to go home. It's not that I like driving so much when it's so late, however, I couldn't help but get distracted by the cookies that the owner of the bakery just took out of the oven.
"You're going to burn yourself,” Evie warns.
“Can I take some?” I asked as if I were a little girl in a candy store.
“I'll put them in a box so you don't get burned. Just tell me which ones.”
“Three with dark chocolate, three of the Red Velvet ones,” I think as I look at the options.
“And can I know when you are going to eat all those cookies?” Ale asks.
“Well, at breakfast or snack, I don't know. Something will occur to me, Rest assured that I will eat them,” I answer with conviction. “I think that's it... oh no, give me three of those little colored ones you have there.”
“Ready?” Evie mocks.
“That 's all.”
At checkout, we say goodbye to Evie and I promise to return to the bakery for more cookies and cakes sooner rather than later. Ale has me hugged by the shoulders and doesn't want to let me go.
“We're not going to see each other for a while.”
“I promise to call you, don't you dare to think I've forgotten that I have to teach you Spanish.”
“And I will teach you Italian, rest assured,” she kisses my cheek before leaving. “Keep me informed and I will do the same.
"It will be a pleasure to listen to the podcasts you record as audio," I exclaim as I walk away.
"Shut up, silly, if you don't have them, you'll miss them," she shouts.
I get to the car with an indelible smile on my face, I don't think I've had this good a time in a while and I needed it more than anything.
A friend, a coffee and stuffing ourselves with sweet things. If that's not the best plan, I don't know what could match it. My mind takes me to work and the situation with Alonso. In short, Fernando is a bastard.

Anon from 722398181104795649 again about YA as a G-D and it's failure(s). Your response is really interesting because it definitely aligns with the market research I've had to do over the last 3-ish months for work. Adult YA readers want YA to skew older superficially as escapism from the woes of adulthood (It's like someone who orders a pasta with broccoli in it because they appreciate the flavor it brings, but they have no interest in actually eating their vegetables). Teenagers feel alienated by the G-D that is meant for them no longer allows them to confront said woes with honesty or maturity for their age to prepare them for adulthood or discussing broader ideas. More teenagers skip over YA altogether or just reader adult genre fiction with some Middle Grade fiction mixed in because the teenagers feel in MG, there's still an honesty to the stories that they can understand, having once been young children. In short: teenagers think YA books are talking down to or patronizing them.
The result is YA authors pushing for NA, New Adult, as a G-D, which hasn't taken off within tradpub outside of romance circles. Mostly, because what they're pushing for is already an established genre for around a century: campus novels--books about characters 18+ who are entering college, establishing independence, beginning to explore sexuality and enter the workforce, etc. But, again, YA adult readers refuse to engage with adult genre fiction because there isn't the facade of protection from adult themes or topics, and there's an aggressive refusal among many agents in literary fiction (and some adult genre fiction) to encourage authors to sanitize their stories. YA authors began attempting to cross over into adult genre fiction with mixed, but overwhelmingly negative, results, as they cannot shake the stigma of writing YA. And the genre fiction crowds they want to appeal to have higher standards, typically, than the average YA writer is able to meet. YA authors then complain about the differences in publishing YA and genre adult fiction. It's like when MCU actors and directors get upset when prestige film directors don't consider MCU movies to be "cinema."
--
This is fascinating.
I pretty much missed the YA boom (slightly too old, not paying attention, etc.), so I've mostly encountered YA through its worst evangelists of the Hunger Games knockoff era, and often a good bit after their favorite books were at their height.
As I've said before, this really strikes me as that pattern where something is big when you're at a formative age, and it becomes the Normal Default to you.
I'm sure some of it is refusal to engage with adult nuance, but I'll bet a lot of it is resistance to leaving the name of YA behind. People spent so much time defending this niche that they started believing their own rhetoric about it being the only place the good queer stuff was or the feminist stuff was or whatever. They identified really strongly as A YA Fan. It's hard to let that go.
And if you don't remember much about pre-YA boom publishing, the fact that all that YA-tastic Mercedes Lackey stuff was filed under fantasy, not YA is completely obscure. The places you find stuff you'd like that aren't called "YA" are not obvious. The fact that YA in its boom era form isn't universal and eternal is not obvious.
I think people are waiting for their Cool Era of their early 20s to return and for the things they think should always be in fashion to come back... Like everyone else aging ungracefully, they may be waiting a while.
Gotta say, every New Adult book I've been shown sounds like a hideously boring contemporary romance that would probably make a good coffee shop AU against a backdrop of a canon that's dark or magical but that isn't really pulling its weight even if you like contemporaries.

what is happening in the world of motorsports?
Williams confirmed they will send Alex's (technically Logan's) chassis damaged in Japan back to their UK factory before China to repair it (so they will both have repaired ones) and their destructor championship cost is already around 2m for this year (that means up to one or two upgrade packages in F1 numbers)
Ralph Schumacher is trying to stir the pot as per usual because he said that Logan Sargeant doesn't have a contract for the full year and he gets contract for each GP individually meaning he could be replaced for any GP from now on (I call BS)
Rumouredly, Mercedes is looking into a possibility of hiring Pierre Waché from RBR
Also, a rumour slash insider info from my comm (maybe others knew but I am kinda shocked): a lot of teams are surprised by the tyres this year from one race to another because apparently Pirelli mixes them a bit more than just for every reason, but the features are different for every race basically (so although Bahrain and Japan had the same allegation of tyres, it's not just the weather conditions and track surface why they act differently)
Marko Helmut spoke to OE24 (Austrian journal) and mentioned that they are ready to give Checo Perez a new contract after they saw his results because he is their best option for the second seat and Checo himself said he expects a lot of contracts being announced in upcoming weeks, including his own future which should be settled within a month
NXT GEN Cup won't be supporting Formula E at all this season due to "unexpected constraints" although it was supposed to support all European races, and they already tested at Misano World Circuit (FE spokesperson also says they want to raise young talents through FIA Girls on Track and other positive initiatives)
Misano will also feature a 30 mins FE rookie test on Friday with some familiar faces like Zane Maloney, Robert Shwartzman, Ciao Collet, Taylor Barnard, Tim Tramnitz, Jack Aitken or Jordan King
Lewis reportedly walked out of an interview after a reporter asked if he was jealous of Ferrari's results, saying "don't you have any better questions?" (go off tbh)
Speaking of Lewis, am I the last person to learn he has his own TV and movie production company, Dawn Apollo Films?
Peter Kenyon, who previously worked in Manchester United and Chelsea, is joining Williams as a commercial advisor
Regarding Carlos still being jobless, Eddie Jordan believes he is going to Aston Martin starting 2025 (but has "no real hardcore evidence") and racingnews365 reported that Audi (and Seidl who already worked with Carlos) are interested in him but want to lock drivers for their 2026 in 2025 already so they gave him a deadline to give his final answer by the end of April on their deal and Helmut Marko said they have no interest in the market right now and you won't hear from them till mid-season at least concerning new drivers or personnel
Lewis is looking into the possibility of testing the monocoque of Ferrari at the end of this year but "doesn't know if Mercedes will allow him"
Katherine Legge will race Indy 500 for e.l.f. cosmetics brand with number 51
Heikki Kovalainen, who underwent a heart surgery, says that he might fully recover thanks to a fast intervention from the doctors
Fernando was asked if he will try to get the Mercedes seat and joked that he is not interested in a team that is behind them in pace, so Toto won't hear from him any time soon
after some F1 tests and current results, Kimi Antonelli now has enough points to drive in F1 with superlicence but since he is still 17, he has to wait to be of age
RB and Sauber are testing in Suzuka these days for the 2025 Pirelli tyres testing (so both dry and wet condition tyres)
speaking of the future of F1, some rumours leaked about the 2026 regulations and it doesn't look good, because to simplify it, the active aero on the rear wing in combo with the engine on full power makes drivers spin out on straights or in the mildest of turns in simulations with a test car - and to avoid it they have to drive slowly to the point of going slower than the current regulation of F2 cars; there are also some concerns about the 50/50 split engine (the problem is it is too late to change the 2026 regs so what they will try now is to make the active aero on both front and rear wing and see how it goes)
like they teased previously and like rumours suggested, Prema is joining Indycar with two entries starting with 2025 season
René Lammers (15 years old Dutch f4 driver) won Ferrari's scouting camp and 2023 CIK-FIA European championship and his father Jan Lammers now told GPFans that his son was offered a 10 year deal from Ferrari but they decided to refuse although it looked promising at first so he will stay non-related to any F1 team and continue with MP Motorsport in Spanish F4
Max spoke about F1 Academy and especially the competitiveness, the ladder to F1 and the impact of F1 teams and I have a lot of mixed thoughts I won't share here but I'm willing to discuss if anyone is interested
apparently during Lewis' talks with Ferrari, he completely omitted his current manager, so he saved money and got the deal for himself (but also this comes from a Czech source that is not super reliable)
also in GQ Lewis said that Niki Lauda wasn't happy with his ventures into the fashion world at first because he thought it would be distracting him from racing
Theo Pourchaire will be on "standby" for McLaren's Indycar car number 6 for the next race (because David Malukas got injured and they are not sure if he will be good to race and because Callum Ilott who is on standy has WEC duties that weekend)
British American Tobacco (BAT) renewed sponsorship of McLaren - they began sponsoring them in 2019 but European Union banned the advertisement of tobacco, now they will advertise electronic cigarettes and nicotine pouch products on both F1 and FE cars

TITLE: I Was Never There. DATE: Saturday 24th March. SUMMARY: After his walk with Frannie, Cody decides to push down his own barriers and show his growing feelings for Mercedes by gifting her a small but meaningful present. Only for things to not go as planned.
The heat radiated off Cody's exposed chest - his skin a golden colour with a hint of red blushing through. A visual result of forgetting to put on more sunscreen for him and Frannie's wander around the small, local markets. The flowy shirt sat open, his usual golden chain hugging his neck gently. His aftershave mixed with the aroma of the Mexican beer he had picked up to drink while he was getting ready. His playlist blaring the walls around him. It was going to be a good night.
A small tethered cord bracelet tangled around his fingers. His thumb rubbing softly against the mixed blue and purple charms. It was a minuscule gesture but one that he was willing to make, to push by his boundaries, to move slightly forward in whatever him and Mercedes were caught in. Words weren't his forte. Well, they were in situations where he could bullshit; however, in times of true connection where voicing his feelings were crucial, it was as if all ability to speak were stripped from him.
Cody flicked his eyesight back into the reflection of the mirror. As he took a deep breath, he finally left the room - cutting off the speaker's music during his exit. Darting throughout the sea of bodies, he didn't stop to speak to anyone who tried to get in his way. If he didn't do this now, he feared that he might never get the courage again. All the girls, the guys, with their sunkissed skin and lack of clothes, they didn't matter at this moment in time. There was only one person his soul was navigating towards.
"You seen Cedes?" He questioned someone near by, taking no interest in who it actually was as his eyes still scanned the crowd. Following the direction of the other's pointed finger, a smile curled at the ends of his mouth. A new feeling of excitement creeping into his body's radar. A feeling that he'd refuse to let himself feel for years on end. This was the moment. The exact moment that he had been building himself up for in previous hours. Rehearsing what he would say so he wouldn't fuck this up.
Taking two steps forward, Cody clocked the oh-so familiar figure in front of him. Her lips occupied with another's. He stood there. Lifeless. All emotion drained from his face as he felt the opening of his heart brick back up within seconds. His eyes studied the situation in front of him, the grip on the bracelet loosening with each second. It was as if someone unplugged him and all feelings drained from his body within seconds - leaving him as numb as his stance suggested.
The gaze of his jealous eyes were interrupted as a drunken passerby accidentally knocked into him. He shook his head, as if he was shaking all shock away from his body. Of course, she was going to kiss someone else. It was fine. It's what they do - tamper with the fate of their relationship only to find comfort in the body of others. Biting down firmly on his lip, Cody knew he had to get out of there before they spotted him. Turning away, he flicked his wrist throwing the bracelet into a plastic rubbish bag, to be buried with the other Spring Break scraps.

chapter six — barbarazweige
➝ the annual lauda family christmas dinner had one hard-and-fast rule: no cell phones. but some rules are made to be broken.
➝ word count: 2,6k
➝ warnings: none
➝ author’s note: there are days when i get discouraged from writing. days i want to give it all up and delete everything. today is one of those days. but my desire to tell stories is great and i know there must be someone who reads and appreciates every chapter. and, in a way, it would be unfair to that person to stop the story halfway through. so i dedicate this chapter to you, who silently follow my work and appreciate it. hope you like.
DECEMBER, 2013
Elisabeth blinked a few times, smiling at her reflection in the mirror.
She was ready.
After putting the mascara back in her bag, she looked up to the mirror again, in order to wipe away a bit of pink gloss that had strayed out of the corner of her lips. Then, she took a step back, assessing the outfit she’d chosen for the evening: dark jeans and a gray knit sweater.
“Perfect”, she thought, pulling out a stray thread that was caught in the weave of her sweater.
Considering how busy every member of the Lauda family was, it was only to be expected that they’d have to book a date to get together, with no phone calls from the factory or excuses to get up to go to the office in the middle of a meal. The date they’d all chosen was the night of Christmas Eve.
Elisabeth loved this time of year. In her opinion, Vienna bloomed to life during the month of December, its streets filled with color and movement, with street markets and bright decorations that made the facades of shops and houses even more beautiful than they already were. After a year of spending more time on planes and at race tracks than she’d spent at home, returning to her hometown felt very special.
She picked up her cell phone from her bed, quickly glancing at the time on her lock screen. Startled by how late it was, she left the room in a hurry. She should have left her flat in the city center a long time ago to go to her parents’ apartment in Alsergrund.
Grabbing the black coat and the red scarf that were lying on the blue armchair in her living room, along with her car keys and black purse, Elisabeth walked out of her apartment and headed into the parking garage, the click of her heels echoing down the long hallway.
Inside the elevator, she straightened the scarf around her neck when she realized which one she’d put on — it was the same red one she was wearing on her last visit to Brackley.
The memory of the kiss sent heat rising to her cheeks. She hadn’t exchanged a single word with Toto since that day. She didn’t have the courage to say anything to him directly, only speaking to him through occasional messages and calls to his personal assistant. She was just too embarrassed.
Elisabeth couldn’t deny that she’d been wanting to kiss him since that New Years’ Eve, when she was with him in his office. However, she didn’t want to mix business and pleasure, especially not with her father’s trusted business partner and, in his own way, his friend. She needed to draw some boundaries in the relationship, somehow. She took a deep breath and turned away from the mirror, and waited for the elevator doors to open. Then, she left the elevator and headed for her black Mercedes.
The drive to her parents’ apartment was uneventful. There were only a few cars on the streets of Vienna. Most people were already in their homes, celebrating Christmas with their families. However, that didn’t stop her being late for dinner, which provoked some good-natured teasing from Lukas as soon as he opened the door for her.
— Did you get lost on the way here, Elschen? — he asked, taking her coat and scarf.
— Sorry, I left later than I’d planned — she replied, while her brother hung the coat  on the coat rack next to the door. Then, she noticed that her mother had left a vase of Barbarazweige on a table in the entryway, the branches full of closed flower buds. “Mom must be frustrated with this”, she thought, staring at the vase for a few seconds.
— For a change — Lukas muttered. She gave him a playful slap on the arm.
— Have Mathias and Claire arrived yet? — Elisabeth asked, following her brother into the living room. She could hear the sound of the fireplace crackling and her father talking to Shivas, his golden retriever. It filled the entire house with life.
— Yes, Claire is helping mom with dinner, in the kitchen.
Her eyes went wide with surprise.
— But Claire…
— She insisted — Lukas shrugged — We tried, but neither me nor Mathias couldn’t convince her to just take it easy in the living room.
She laughed, shaking her head.
— I’ll go help them — Elisabeth said, smiling, before heading into the kitchen. Even before entering, the scent of the goose roasting in the oven filled her nose, making her mouth water, as well as filling her heart with a fond nostalgia.
Stopping in the doorway, she couldn’t help but remember the hours she spent on a stool in that kitchen with her siblings when they were younger, decorating gingerbread cookies that would be hung on the Christmas tree, with Tasso and Luna, their childhood dogs, looking for crumbs they dropped.
Those memories are what made Christmas so special for her.
— Earth to Elisabeth — her mother’s voice pulled her out of her reverie. She blinked a few times until she focused on Marlene’s face, who was smiling at her. She had a pot of boiled potatoes in her hands, probably for the dumplings she made every year — Could you help me with this?
— Yeah, sure — she replied, stepping forward to take the pot from her hands and setting it on the table next to Claire. She was seated, chopping the red cabbage for the salad that would accompany the Christmas goose.
— Hi Claire, how are you?
— Hi, Elisabeth, I’m fine — she replied, setting the knife down on the cutting board, smiling at her.
— And how’s my favorite nephew doing? — Elisabeth asked, looking at the bulge of her belly.
When Mathias and Claire revealed they were expecting a child, the entire family was ecstatic. It would be Niki and Marlene’s first grandchild, as well as Elisabeth’s first nephew. Everyone was even more excited when they found out it would be a boy. “Another boy to drive us crazy with cars”, she thought at the time, as her father peppered her brother with ideas for his grandson’s name.
— Lenny’s doing great — Claire glanced down, smiling at her belly — Just kicking more than usual.
— Looks like we’re not going to have another driver in the family, but a football player! — she laughed, while she opened a drawer, searching for the potato masher. When she found it, she went back to the table and started mashing the potatoes for the dumplings.
— I highly doubt it, considering Mathias made a point of decorating the entire nursery with race cars — Claire said, making her and her mom laugh.
The relationship of her brothers, especially Mathias, with motorsport was extremely strong. As hard as Niki had worked hard to discourage them from considering a career in motorsport, he couldn't stop his children from following their dreams.
When the family moved to Modena for Niki's work as a consultant for Ferrari, it didn't take long for Lukas and Mathias to mingle with other boys with the same passions as them, which led to them frequenting the city's go-kart track, all without telling their father.
Niki had only found out that his sons were competing in and winning kart races when he visited a track by chance. When he asked who the two red-helmet drivers were, he was told they were "the Knaus brothers".
Elisabeth clearly remembered when her brothers arrived home, still wearing their overalls, helmets in their hands, heads down. Shocked at the way her children had tricked her into claiming they were attending the town's football club, Marlene insisted on grounding them for a month. Niki wanted the punishment to be even longer, as they were doing something very dangerous. Lukas was devastated for the first few days, but it didn't take him long to accept that what he had done was wrong. However, Elisabeth could see from the gleam of Mathias's eyes that he would not give up so easily.
And he didn’t.
From then on, the two boys were closely watched by their parents. However, even after returning to Vienna, Mathias continued to frequent a kart track near the Kaiserwiese, using his mother's maiden name again. Mathias kept his secret hidden quite well, until one day, when Elisabeth caught him putting his race overalls in his school bag. It was no use arguing with him, much less asking Lukas to intervene. Mathias was determined to race, even against his father’s wishes.
After discovering that they had been lied to a second time, their parents had different reactions. While Marlene spent nearly an hour scolding the boy for lying and his siblings for covering up for Mathias, Niki just tilted his head and told his son to do as he pleased.
And that's how her brother's career began.
— I hope they’re at least Mercedes — Elisabeth replied.
— They’re Ferraris — her sister-in-law said — You know Mathias is crazy about Ferrari.
— Traitor — she muttered. Claire and Marlene both laughed.
As she was mashing the potatoes, Elisabeth noticed there was another vase of Barbarazweige on the table, as well that all of the buds on the branches were closed, just like the ones in the entranceway.
— The flowers didn’t bloom this year, mom?
Marlene turned to look at the branches, and sighed.
— No. I thought it was strange. They always bloom before Christmas Eve.
— Maybe the weather has something to do with it? — she suggested, as she carried the pot of mashed potatoes to her mother so she could continue making the dumplings.
— It’s possible — Claire said, shoveling the chopped cabbage into a bowl.
— I don’t know, actually — Marlene said, opening the fridge to get some eggs — Maybe it just means that nobody in our family will get married next year.
“Here comes that wedding story again”, Elisabeth thought, with a huff. She was pretty sure Claire had sensed her frustration as her sister-in-law quickly added.
— Maybe nature is just a little late this year.
Marlene eyed her daughter in-law suspiciously.
— Is it just me, or are you defending Elisabeth?
Claire shrugged.
— Just you, Mrs. Lauda — she smiled. Elisabeth laughed.
— You two — her mother said, shaking her head.
The rest of the dinner prep continued with animated conversation and laughter. Elisabeth helped her mother take the goose out of the oven, and made the butter sauce for the dumplings. As the women took the dishes to the table, the men of the family filed in from the living room, admiring the spread.
— Everything looks delicious, mom — Lukas said, pulling out a chair and sitting at the table, petting Felix, the brown Flat-coated Retriever Niki adopted few months before.
— Thanks, dear, but this time, I need to give Elschen and Claire credit. They’ve helped me a lot this year — Marlene said, smiling as she settled into her seat.
— And with the way this family is growing, we’re going to need more hands soon. Maybe another woman in the kitchen. Right, Lukas? — Elisabeth muttered, nudging her brother with an elbow after placing her cell phone on the table.
— You should take your own suggestion and find yourself a boyfriend, Elschen — her brother said, laughing. Her face turned red as her mind filled with the image and feel of Toto’s lips against yours.
— You’re the oldest, you first — she countered, smiling mischievously.
— You two — Niki said to both of them, while seating at the head of the table — Can you stop with this dumb discussion in the middle of Christmas dinner?
— We’re just kidding, dad — Lukas said, putting a hand on her shoulder — Aren’t we, Elschen?
— I wasn’t kidding when I said you should get a girlfriend — she muttered, making her brother roll his eyes.
— Elisabeth Renate — her father said, scolding her.
After a few seconds of resistance, she gave in, giving her father a smile.
— Of course I was kidding, dad.
— You better be — he mumbled, a stern look in his eyes.
— Well, let’s eat — Marlene announced, gesturing to the plates on the table.
She had just poured herself a glass of red wine when her phone vibrated against the table. Looking at the screen and reading the name on the caller ID made a shiver run down her spine. Elisabeth definitely hadn’t expected a call from him that evening. She was about to pick up her phone to answer it when she caught her mother’s disapproving gaze.
— What did I say about phones at the dinner table, Elisabeth?
— Mom…
— Elisabeth, you know the rules.
— But, it might be important — she argued.
— What can be so important that it can’t wait until after Christmas Eve?
— I don’t know, and that’s exactly why I have to find out — she replied.
She rose from her chair, phone in hand, and walked into the living room. She could hear her mother’s heated protests, as well as her father’s words of appeasement, as she approached the fireplace with a chill building in her belly. Taking a deep breath, Elisabeth pressed the green button to pick up the call, and held the phone to her ear.
— Hello?
— Good evening, Liesl — she could make out Toto’s voice against a background of loud conversations and children’s laughter.
— Good evening, Toto — she replied, a smile coming to her face  — How are you?
— Okay, how about you?
— I’m fine.
— Good — he replied.
She hesitated for a few seconds, wondering what he could possibly want.
— Is something wrong?
— No, nothing’s wrong, I was just calling to wish you and your family a merry Christmas. I tried calling your father a few times, but he didn’t answer.
— He wouldn’t dare touch his cell phone on Christmas Eve — she replied, laughing — Mrs. Marlene’s rules.
Toto’s laugh echoed on the other end of the line, making something in her chest tighten. If Elisabeth thought those weeks of estrangement could lessen whatever she felt for Toto, she was sorely mistaken.
— Does that apply to you too?
— It applies to everybody.
— You mean you’re breaking your mother’s rules right now?
— Yes —  she laughed — But it’s for a good reason, so she’ll understand.
— And what reason would that be? — he asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
— You — she replied, not realizing how strange that sounded until the line was silent for a few seconds. “That was dumb, Elisabeth”, she thought, putting her hand to her forehead.
— That makes me feel special.
— Well, you are special, Toto — she said quietly, but quickly added — To all of us, I mean.
On the other end of the line, Elisabeth could hear the sounds of footsteps and Benedict and Rosa’s voices fading. Then, she heard the sound of a door closing. He’d probably gone into his office — the same one where they spent New Year’s Eve together, almost a year ago now.
— Look Liesl, I know this is a strange call, given what happened in Brackley, but — he started to say, his voice lowered, as if he didn’t want anyone to hear him.
— It was nothing — she said, interrupting him.
— Nothing?
— Nothing.
— So… It meant nothing to you? — Toto asked, the tone of his voice changing to something serious, almost anxious.
Elisabeth hesitated for a few seconds.
She wasn't used to lying. The last time she had lied was when she didn’t tell her parents about Mathias' adventures in karting, and that was only a lie by omission — it wasn’t the same thing. In this situation, she felt like there was no other way out.
It was the best thing for everyone.
It was also the best thing for her heart.
— Yes. It meant nothing, Toto. It just… Happened, but  — she said, trying to sound confident.
There was another long silence.
— Okay, then — he sighed — Merry Christmas, Liesl.
— Merry Christmas — she muttered, hearing Toto end the call.
She took a deep breath and took the phone from her ear, staring at the black screen for a few seconds. Then, she sank down into one of the armchairs, her gaze fixed on the vase on the coffee table. All of the flower buds were still closed, as her mother had pointed out while they were in the kitchen.
All but one.

unless he goes to fucking haas after 2024 i can’t see a team where would have a place for him😭 maybe hollywood star is his future fr
nah, i stay convinced any team would take him. mercedes might be a little trickier to work it out, but i think if they really truly thought they could get him they would consider sacrificing george for him. (i know, controversial, likely. i have mixed impressions on this. they have certainly sold george as their future. it would be wild for them to abandon that now when they were building a whole narrative around it, but... f1 is f1.)
rbr eats second drivers for breakfast. they are quite literally playing hot potato with daniel right now and considering putting him in that rbr because max can carry a champion fight solo and the pr works well for them. they would snatch charles if given the chance and simply make it work and step on half their junior academy to do it. (i love this team, i swear, but they be cut throat)
mclaren's development keeps this up and they stay a top team... they are clinging onto lando. i'm not sure they'd trade him. and oscar is really promising, so i'm not sure they'd want to lose him either, but they might drop him for charles (rip my baby oscar, who would be fine frankly bc other teams will want oscar too). so yeah, most of the top teams (aside from rbr) seem pretty locked in... but charles hasn't been available since his literal rookie season. he's been firmly off market, property of ferrari, do not imagine he will answer your call. the chance to poach him actually becoming a reality is definitely tempting to those teams who wanted him in the past.

Brazil embraces ‘Afro-tourism’
The government is exploring this new market and pledges to support small Black entrepreneurs in this sector
Tumblr media
Every weekend, the group grows larger, driven by word of mouth, as more and more people converge at the statue of Mercedes Baptista, a pioneering Black dancer at Rio de Janeiro’s Municipal Theater. The spot marks the starting point of the African Heritage Walking Tour that winds through the heart of Little Africa in central Rio, where hundreds of thousands of enslaved Africans first arrived in Brazil, and where the vibrant rhythms of samba were born in the back alleys.
“Brazilians know the untold history of Black people in this city and the whole country. This is a tourism experience that goes way beyond the usual sights like Rio’s Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer,” said Rafael Moraes, a tour guide from the Institute of Research and New Black Memory (Instituto dos Pretos Novos – IPN). The walking tour ends at a small residence that houses the IPN’s museum and offices. During the house’s renovation, human bones were unearthed from an unmarked cemetery for slaves who perished during the long ocean crossing.
In front of a glass case containing a skeleton, Moraes gives the final talk of the tour, connecting Brazil’s painful past with the daily lives of Black Brazilians who still feel the impacts of racism. Several visitors tear up as he talks. “I think this tour evokes some feelings of guilt – it changes people,” he said. In 2019, almost 2,500 individuals took this tour. This year, it’s projected to reach 15,000. The majority are Rio residents and Brazilians from other states, but every now and then a foreigner joins the tour. The IPN team is actively working on offering multilingual tours for this “afro-tourism” experience, a growing part of Brazil’s tourist industry.
Brazil has the largest Black population outside of Africa, with 56% identifying as Black or mixed race. Interest in the history of Brazil’s Black culture is increasing, particularly in countries where the Black population has more purchasing power, like the United States and Europe. Many of these tourists seek unique experiences beyond the conventional offerings.

@fleecy said: so where does one read actual mtga plot/storytelling? i didn’t realize it had any! is it in like spinoff books or smth :?
oh boy that's SUCH a good question
the tl;dr is that Magic's official story has generally been told via a sort of slapdash combination of tie-in novels (in Actual Book Form) + short stories (posted on their website)
and of those two, the short stories are generally *stronger* and sometimes really quite good, but unfortunately the design-by-committee approach to the overall story does hamper their impact somewhat
the LONGER answer is:
* in the beginning MtG's storyline was told primarily via little bits of flavor text on cards, vibes, and maybe the occasional comic in a magazine or something
* and it really wasn't so much a *story* as it was history... set dressing that told you how this world came to be
* they made a concerted effort at telling an actual STORY on the cards beginning with the Weatherlight set in 1997, with mixed results. nerds like me loved collecting the cards and trying to carefully piece all the flavor text together into something coherent; most people were like "uhhh idk what's going on, but this Gerard guy pops up a lot i guess?"
* so then they tried publishing tie-in novels because this was the era of That Giant Shelf O' Shitty Trade Paperback Fantasy Novels At Your Local Barnes & Noble (feat. Mercedes Lackey)
* unfortunately the authors they chose were mostly bad, and when they weren't bad, they were working under insane deadlines to get a novel out in time for the launch of the accompanying set
* eventually someone noticed the novels weren't making any fucking money and killed them
* for a while they decided Vibes TM was all you needed for storytelling
* but eventually they noticed Superhero Stories TM featuring a Strong Central Protagonist TM worked way better for mass-market storytelling than their admittedly extremely WEIRD original conception of planeswalkers as basically-gods
* so they downgraded the powerlevel of planeswalkers massively, so they could be cool superhero-type heroes instead of actual gods
* and eventually they decided short-stories-building-toward-a-whole on their website was a cool way to tell the story of their planeswalkers
* this was actually a very good idea, and well-suited to the type of storytelling MtG does best (i think its universe really does work better with vignettes-tied-into-a-whole rather than constantly trying to make everything about Jace fucking Beleren)
* but unfortunately they REALLY bought into this "everything needs to be about planeswalkers" shit, so the storytelling has felt kind of samey and stale in that comic-book-y way where you desperately wish someone would do a reboot or something
if you ever want to dig into MtG lore i highly recommend this absurdly-well-researched, lengthy thread on the mtgsalvation forums. weatherlight was really flawed but i also think it was MtG storytelling at its best and i still think about Volrath like once a week, okay dweebing out over BYE

thank you for insulting me, I'm not jk anti or wants a fight andy idiotic questions wasnt complete cause i'm using a translator to check that if my text understandable or not and i didn't notice that I just copy my drafts not the final text, in my language transltor write names wrong so I wrote "one and the other one" then strated to edit it but I didn't notice I copied the first draft. this is the whole text
" There is no single evidence of their closeness behind the cam. Every one of them is in a different world, Taehyung likes luxurious lifestyle ( wealthy friends, fancy restaurants, high-end clothing brands and accessories, golf, pricey liquor) , and Jungkook likes mediocre life, and all tkkrs try to convince themselves that they are hidden from the public while saying they are so loud. imo to be open about their sexuality and relationship in the Kpop industry it will be true if they do it so behind the camera, rather than in front of the cameras, where is the queerbaiting is the standard in the industry. Fan cams, are media as well."..
I was just trying to share my thoughts with someone and I'm sorry if my words were so tough to makes you considered I'm jk anti or want to fight that's because my English is bad and I don't know how to make my words nicer, I apologise to you...
Thank you for clarifying the situation, but you have to understand that as a Taekooker I sometimes get unpleasant and downright silly questions that no-one would ever answer. So when I read your ask, it did come across like that.
Now, I will also apologise if you felt insulted. As a courtesy I have deleted the original ask and my response. And before I respond to your thoughts on Taekook I have a suggestion... Now, I don't want to tell you how to post or ask in future, but if you're using a translator to help put your thoughts across, you may want to start off explaining that in someway, I've had other anon asks do the same and it helps stop things from getting misconstrued or mixed up.
Regarding your main points:
There is no single evidence of their closeness behind the cam.
So let's forget that they went:
On two private holidays/trips together (that we know of) without any other members or family?
Or that time when they had a meal together without security or managers in a restaurant at a high-end exclusive hotel, that you have to pre-book weeks in advance.
Or that they go to fortune tellers and dermatologist together.
Or that they know more about each other than the rest of the members, such as JK know Tae had a manicure
Or that whenever Tae or JK is asked a question about the other, members will change their answers if Tae or JK gives a different answer.
Or that JK stated in a VLive he was spend time alone in Tae room
Taehyung likes luxurious lifestyle / Jungkook likes mediocre life
In what way does Tae spend most of his life in a luxurious way? Or that JK lives a modest lifestyle...
Both of them are multi-millionaires who spend their money on luxury items and lifestyle, such as this:
JK allegedly owns this car, with a price tag USD: $161,200:
And if you think he modest then explain why he wore this:
Tae may like luxury brands but so what he has the money and it's his life. The only person he is supposedly close to is someone with a dad that is clearly enamoured of BTS (and high profil kpop idols in general), and clearly has a deal with BigHit to accomodate BTS where possible, so maybe just maybe it was business arrangement.
tkkrs try to convince themselves that they are hidden from the public while saying they are so loud.
No we don't, what some say is that BigHit will occasionally cut Taekook from content and focus on other ships. The argument some make is why, if K-Pop is partially driven by shipping, why is it one of the most popular ships in K-Pop (taekook), and the certainly most popular in BTS, isn't being given it's far due. Now some would say "but Taekook are not close" or just friends, but I'm sorry, Kpop companies generally don't care about that, and we've seen countless accounts of idols being forces to do shipping so that their companies can profit off them. Also, between 2013 and 2016 Taekook were everywhere whenever BTS was around doing stuff. Then 2017 to 2019 they disappeared from content, and the only time Taekook interacted was in concerts, awards shows, US promo tours, VLives etc.
Since 2020, things have changes and taekook are more able to interact than they've ever been. When we say loud we don't mean "oh my god they so shouting from the roof tops they are in love" it's about just being more obvious in their interactions, or Instagram posts.
to be open about their sexuality and relationship in the Kpop industry it will be true if they do it so behind the camera, rather than in front of the cameras, where is the queerbaiting is the standard in the industry. Fan cams, are media as well."..
And I have said that's the case, just go look at my posts, and it's one of the reasons why between 2017 and 2019 Taekook we less visible as a ship, because it was more behind the cameras (hell JK even said as much with his comment that Tae and his relationship is not for the cameras).
I'm not sure what you are saying in the second park, but yes queerbaiting does exist in the industry, but it's not just a K-Pop thing though, it's in all forms, KDramas do it too. But as a gay man I think I can differentiate when I'm being Queer baited and when I'm not, for example the "hickey" incident is clear queerbaiting, whenever EXO touch and grope each other on stage it's queerbaiting, whenever a shipped couple sing a vaguely romantic song together on stage it's queerbaiting. JK and Tae sharing pictures and parts of their lives without is not queerbaiting.
Final thoughts
I get you want to share your thoughts, but why do you want to do it with a Taekooker? You're not gonna change my mind anytime soon (I've seen enough to know who JK and Tae are). So what is it you want to get out by sharing your thoughts on Taekook with me?

1928 Windhoff
The creations of Hans Windhoff began in Berlin with radiator production for cars, trucks, and aircraft. In 1924, he entered the burgeoning motorcycle market with water-cooled two-stroke machine of 125cc – an excellent although expensive creation, with the engine built under license from a design by Hugo Ruppe, whose ladepumpe (an extra piston used as a supercharger to compress the fuel/air mix) design was used most successfully by DKW in their GP bikes.
Windhoff had much racing success with these smaller two-strokes, although enlarged racers of 493cc and 517cc were less reliable. By 1926, a totally new machine was offered; the 746cc overhead camshaft, oil-cooled 4-cylinder. Only Granville Bradshaw (creator of the ABC) had successfully used an ‘oil boiler’ engine in a motorcycle, and the new Windhoff was a technical tour de force.
The engine, designed by Ing. Dauben (later to join Mercedes to work on their legendary W194 – 196 racers) had no external ‘plumbing’, using only internal oilways to keep everything cool, with the engine finning acting as a giant radiator, and recirculating oil the cooling agent.
The Windhoff chassis is as radical as its motor, with no ‘frame’ to speak of, and no need for one, as the massive engine casting is far stronger than bent or lugged tubing.  It predates the Vincent in this concept by nearly 20 years, but the Windhoff is a true ‘frameless’ machine, as the forks and rear subframe (4 parallel tubes) bolt directly to the engine/gearbox unit. The trailing-link forks use double leaf springs for damping, and there’s no rear suspension; the rear frame tubes emerge straight out of the gearbox casting, and hold the final drive housing for the shaft drive, and rear hub and brake. Despite its massive appearance, the total weight of the machine is only 440lbs. The price when new was 1,750DM, a bit more than the 1,600DM of a BMW R63. A bit expensive, a bit unconventional, and a bit slow on sales, nonetheless the machine ranks as a landmark of vision and development, and is understandably very sought after these days.
