Picasso Tiles
Tumblr media
Picasso Tiles is perfect to help kids with motor skill functions and other functions. They have all kinds of things to help your littles learn.
They have building blocks magnet tile play sets, race car sets, magnetic bricks (that kind of looks like legos but are not), Marble run tiles, puzzles, engineering and construction, and magnetic cubes, stem robot toys and so much more.
I highly suggest these for those that have autism like my son who enjoys block building and magnets. This can help them because they have different tiles that have different textures and can be a sensor for them.
There is all kinds of building toys to choose from and things like music and a drawing board that can potentially help them learn their abc in the long run. I wish I found this company whenever I was teaching my kids theirs because this would have come in handy. This is also perfect for those who are home schooling because they have so much.

OVERWHELMED — JACK HUGHES
part of the el!hughes au
summary: in which Lovie gets overstimulated and overwhelmed and Jack swoops in to help.
notes: this is totally not me projecting at all— nope- definitely not
Tumblr media
it was something i wasn’t prepared for about motherhood— i’ve always been sensitive to loud noises, getting overstimulated and irrationally upset after a while.
i was fine in situations where i expected it; concerts, hockey games, the like. but when i was in the comfort of my own home or in a place that i wasn’t expecting it, it quickly became too much.
and when these situations happened, i became irritable and acquired a touch aversion. needing some quiet time to myself in order to recover.
when i became a mom, i was able to power through it. the newborn and infant years being an easy feat, as my daughter was a relatively quiet baby.
but with the toddler years has come the screaming, even when happy. Eleanor’s once quiet demeanor disappeared, replaced by excited squeals and happy yelling.
she would be playing and just randomly start screaming in excitement or get frustrated and scream out of annoyance and distress.
i was understanding. she couldn’t fully talk yet to express herself and for the most part, i could breathe through it and be fine. but there were those few times where it became too much.
like now.
El’s excited screams bounce off the apartment walls as she runs around the hallways with her tiny red target cart, full of her favorite toys. baby dolls and magnetic building blocks piled in the cart, running into door-jambs and furniture and clinking together.
i take deep breaths, my head pounding in ache as i sit on the couch. i love my daughter. so much. but this is entirely too much.
my husband stands in the kitchen, laughing as our toddler crashes her cart against the back of the couch, making the entire sofa jolt before she screams in excitement once again.
i flinch, squeezing my eyes shut and taking a deep inhale. i reopen my eyes just in time to see my two-old run around the side of the couch, slipping and falling onto her butt.
she lets out a shriek in frustration, tears springing to her eyes as she rises back to her feet, abandoning her play shopping cart in favor of fast walking over to me on the couch.
climbing up the couch cushions, her cries get louder with the close proximity, making my breath hitch.
“mommy!” she whines. her little hands grip my shoulder as she steps into my lap, plopping herself down and looking up at me.
i instinctively lock up, my back straightening and my hands flying up towards my shoulders in attempt to get away.
it makes me feel like a horrible mother. i can’t even power through the touch of my own child when i’m overstimulated like this.
El’s cries get louder as she reaches up to touch my cheeks.
“mommy! boo boo!” my heart aches in my chest and i’m near tears, myself. i hate seeing my baby upset but i can’t bring myself to do much. i bring my hand down, rubbing her back but even that makes my skin crawl in discomfort.
“it’s okay, El-Bell.” i attempt to comfort her, but my voice is near-robotic, just running through the motions.
my tears finally spill over and i send a desperate glance to my husband, who is already stepping over to us.
he gives me sympathetic eyes, quickly scooping up the toddler from my lap, which only makes her more upset.
“mommy!” she cries out, reaching around her father to make grabby hands at me, my heart shattering even further.
“hey.” Jack coos, turning around so that El’s back is facing me. “it’s okay, lovely. daddy’s got you.”
his eyes lock with mine and he gives me a quick and affirmative nod, letting me know that he’s got this, and i take that moment to rise from the couch, sneaking off towards our bedroom.
“you wanna watch a movie, baby? you wanna watch Ariel?” i hear him ask, resulting in the halting of El’s cries. i assume she’s nodding, as not a moment later i hear the familiar ‘thum thum’ of the disney+ app being opened on the tv.
i quietly creak our bedroom door shut, leaving it open just a crack before moving to lay on the bed, burrowing myself in the blankets. my head just barely peeks out of the comforter, providing me with fresh air.
sobs wrack my body, lightly shaking the bed. i cover my mouth with my hand, muffling my cries so that my toddler doesn’t hear them out in the living room, but it only serves to make me cry harder.
it’s moments like these where i wonder if i’m failing my child. because i sure feel like a failure. what kind of mother am i? to get so overwhelmed by my own child, that i can’t even stand being touched by her?
it feels like hours until my sobs finally subside, but in reality i know it’s only been maybe half an hour.
now i lay in the bed, staring up at the plain white ceiling and overthinking everything.
is El going to hate me for this one day?
have i let her down?
is Jack going to hate me for this?
will he get tired of the fact that i can’t handle our daughters loud noises and leave me?
my thoughts are interrupted by the dip of the bed beside me. i look over to see Jack laying a napping Eleanor next to me on the mattress before he lays down on the other side of her.
he looks at me with an expression full of worry, pity overtaking his face.
i turn on my side, facing my husband and our daughter, and he does the same.
“how are you feeling?” he questions softly, not wanting to wake our sleeping toddler.
“better.” i tell him, gazing down at El and running the back of my hand across her chubby cheek.
i love her so much.
“i feel like i’ve failed her.” i confess. “like i’ve failed you both.”
Jack is quick to squash those feelings, leaning over the toddler to press a sweet kiss to my lips.
“stop doing that.” he pleads. “stop reducing yourself down to your bad moments. i love you. El loves you.
“so you have a few times where it all becomes too much- i may not be able to understand it fully, but i do understand that it’s out of your control. you love El, i know you do, i see it every day. if it were up to you, i know you would never have these moments. but they do happen, and that’s okay. El may not understand it yet, but she will one day, and she still loves you regardless.”
his words make tears prick my eyes once more and i break our eye contact to gaze back down at our daughter.
“you are more than these moments, Lovie. and i will do whatever i can to help when they do happen.” he tells me, smiling softly.
“when i’m home.” he adds, making me let out a watery giggle.
“i love you.” i express, leaning forward to press a kiss to his lips.
“i love you more.”
“thank you for being so understanding. and for swooping in to help.” i smile, raising a hand to cup his cheek, trailing my thumb softly over his cheekbone.
“thank you for being the most amazing wife and the best mother to our beautiful baby girl. thank you for giving me the best gift i’ve ever received.”
“your ‘#1 dad’ hat?” i joke, making him throw his head back in laughter.
“our daughter, Lovie!” he clarifies through chuckles. “although, i do love that hat.”

PEZ MY BELOVED
thanks for the excuse to write some more of him, with bonus Henry friendship because i love that too.

❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
4:04pm, the brownstone
Now
“Henry, I’ve found it. I’m sending you the address right now, so get your royal backside in gear and get here as soon as bloody possible.”
Pez sends the voice note with a distracted tap, not taking his eyes off the facade of the building in front of him.
Then
“What do you think about me helping out more with the shelters?” Henry’s wringing his hands—not playing with the signet ring as usual, although Pez has his own private suspicions about where that particular heirloom fidget toy has gone—which means he’s nervous.
“You’re already donating every cent you can get away with, Hazza—”
“I mean— What if I were more hands on?”
The lightbulb goes off in Pez’s head. “The New York shelter. You want to move to The States.”
Henry ducks his head with a blush. “It would be a good way to give back more immediately than donating could ever be.”
“And you want to be closer to your strumpet.”
Henry blushes again, but doesn’t deny it. “It would be enough to be in the same time zone more than a few times a year.”
Pez pulls his best friend in for a fierce hug. “Then let’s make it happen, babes. The Brooklyn location will need a Director once it’s done being renovated.”
Now
A sleek SUV with blacked-out windows pulls up to the curb where Pez is waiting. He bounces on his heels while the PPO’s do a sweep of the building. When they return with the all-clear, Pez bounds forward to haul Henry out of the car.
“See? Isn’t it bloody perfect? The whole building is up for sale—not on the general market, my realtor tipped me off that the current owner is looking to move out of the city.”
“Pez…” Henry’s speechless, gazing up at the perfectly maintained brickwork and welcoming front stoop nestled among the rest of the brownstones on the block.
Then
Hazza: PEZ PEZ I GOT PERMISSION DISGRUNTLED, BACKED INTO A CORNER, RELUCTANT PERMISSION BUT PERMISSION NONETHELESS I’M ALLOWED TO MOVE TO NEW YORK
Auntie Pezza: [excited.gif] [muchexcite.pic] [sqealing_charlotte.gif] HEN YOU BEAUTIFUL BEAN SPROUT YOU’RE EVEN MULTIPLE TEXTING IN ALL CAPS I’M SO BLOODY PROUD
Hazza: The situation did seem to call for it. I guess Alex has been rubbing off on me.
Auntie Pezza: HENRY I’M—
Hazza: Wait.
Auntie Pezza: I’M SURE HE IS
Hazza: Don’t. I beg you to not.
Auntie Pezza: IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE
Hazza: I really should know better by now.
Auntie Pezza: 🍆💦🍆💦🍆💦 You really should.
But seriously you should send me whatever draconian security measures your new abode will have to accommodate and i’ll get someone looking asap
Now
Pez escorts Henry up the steps and into the brownstone with unrestrained glee, delighting at the awe and dawning excitement on Henry’s face as he looks around.
Each room they pass through is well taken care of, and clearly well-loved. Nothing is pristine; doorways and floors and furnishings bear the hallmarks of age and growing children. There’s heaps of windows letting in natural light, catching the edge of Henry’s smile as he drags his fingers along countertops and railings. Henry doesn’t interrupt Pez’s monologue about the specifics as they climb the stairs to the top floor, content to listen as Pez rambles on about bedroom size and how long it's been since the bathrooms were updated. He doesn’t speak at all, in fact, until they get to the main suite.
“Oh,” Henry gasps, staring at the bay window overlooking the street. Pez watches him move toward it as if drawn by magnets, one hand already reaching out to stroke the window frame reverently. Pez congratulates himself—he knew Henry would love the rest of the house, but that the window would sell him completely.
“I’ll take it,” Henry says, resolute. He’s sat on the cushion in the window now, looking down at the people bustling on the sidewalk below. He looks at home there, like the house was designed with this moment in mind.
“I’ll get my realtor on it,” Pez says, already texting furiously. “And I know a few contractors from the shelter that could do the security updates the Crown will insist on and—”
“Pez.”
“Hmm?” He pauses and looks up at his best friend at the sound of his name.
“Thank you.”
Pez crosses the room, pulls Henry up and into a tight hug. “It’s my genuine pleasure, Henry.” He squeezes a little tighter before pulling back, smirking. “Reckon Alex will cry when you tell him?”

Today i went to a lego convention that was in town, but i lacked the foresight to actually sign up to display anything. So instead i will be posting photos i took at home of the stuff i brought there to display online
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
now this first one is perhaps my largest moc whom i built roughly exactly a year ago. i had been watching gundam with a couple friends and. really. really liked the guntank. his shoulders can open up and this thing is by no means complete, as evidenced by the haphazard color placement and awkward leg joints (he can transform, kinda.) i am mostly proud of his arms and especially his gun. he weighs like 5 pounds hes a really really big guy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
next one and maybe my favorite is an old bionicle MOC i had created 2-3 years prior, in the spirit of halloween actually. can you tell that skullman is one of my favorite robot masters? i think its kinda obvious. im particularly fond of the shape i was able to make with his whole like spine ribcage thing going on, but it doesnt hold up spectacularly to time as i have to replace some of the parts frequently. such is the life of style
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as for this one, this is my oldest moc, and what got me ultimately back full swing into lego again. he is (heavily) based on swordman from megaman 8 as i think he just has an awesome concept and design. this is especially apparent in the VERY unusual way his torso and hips connect, as to kindof mimic the weird magnet thing sword man has for his body and of course his giant sword arm. i dont really display it here but his hands are fun and can kinda articulate but they never make "natural" looking poses, but they make one hell of a fist shape and can hold objects. i mentioned this guy is my oldest but that is merely "the oldest moc i havent scrapped apart" and has a very long (relatively) history. i built him long ago in mid 2016 and he actually had most of the same looks as he does now. his legs for instance havent actually been changed once since i built them and the right arm shares the same fate. his torso used to be one big part but i completely rebuilt it with a bunch of smaller parts in 2019 and even though it looks basically the same im satisfied i was able to accomplish that look completely on my own. and of course his strange connection in the middle has always been there, though they used to not have those friction extensions, which made him hilariously floppy, but he still could stand on his own with good balancing. his sword arm used to be a regular arm and he just carried two very large swords, that sword arm i actually finally built much later in 2019 when i finally had the cash that let me buy a sword worthy of such an important build in my life. he likely will persist through my life and i will never be truly done but this is a great milestone to show off to others right now
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
coming off of that massive block of text for a time long gone, we have a silly little ride armor once again inspired by megaman that i quite enjoy. there isnt a whole lot to say but that gun can spin and i think that is the most important thing any toy could have and finally.

The Warriors Three
“Thor: Love And Thunder” is dropping soon, and I for one am absolutely pumped for it! Thor is my favorite MCU hero, thanks in large part to the cheer and warmth that Chris Helmsworth brings to the role, and “Thor: Ragnarok” is one of my favorite MCU movies. So as you can imagine, considering this is a toy blog, we’re gonna be talking about the toys! Specifically, 3 for the price of one, with the “Love and Thunder” Deluxe Action Figures of The Mighty Thor, King Valkyrie, and Thor!
Tumblr media
So why are we doing a 3 for 1 deal? It’s because each figure is similar enough that it’s a good idea, especially since the similarities make the differences more striking. To do a good review of one, you need to compare it to the other two.
Thor himself is an icon of the MCU. He’s the Norse God of Thunder who was banished to Earth to learn humility and became a galaxy-traveling hero and founding Avenger. Valkyrie was introduced in the third “Thor” movie as a hard-drinking, jaded brawler with a heart who later becomes King of New Asgard during the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” The Mighty Thor is actually Thor’s ex, genius scientist Jane Foster, who now wields Thor’s old magic hammer, giving her all the powers of the original Thor. As the movie isn’t out yet, there’s not much else known of her heroic identity, but I’m excited.
Now, I normally don’t do this, but I want to talk about the figure packaging. Each figure comes in a package with an image of the toy on the box instead of a window on the box to see the actual toy you’re buying. On the one hand, that’s great, because the toy’s not getting exposed to germs during a very much still ongoing pandemic. On the other hand, this does make it hard to tell the quality of the figure you’re getting, so any paint errors or damage will be a surprise. Each figure is wrapped in tissue paper and tied to a cardboard insert to keep it safe, though this did still result in my Valkyrie’s swords getting bent a bit.
Each figure has a gimmick that’s triggered by squeezing their legs. Thor raises and swings his hammer, Stormbreaker, Mighty Thor spins her hammer, Mjolnir, and King Valkyrie swings her waist to to the right so she can do a slash with her twin swords, which look like her Dragonfang sword from her previous appearances. How good the gimmick is varies from toy to toy. With Thor, it works great. There’s no problem and everything goes as planned. Mighty Thor runs into a slight issue. You need to position her right arm just right to make the gimmick work, Otherwise, it will either start but get blocked by her cape, or just halfheartedly work, with all the enthusiasm of a high school senior taking a final, and the hammer will stop swinging about halfway across. With Valkyrie, you need to hold her upright to use her gimmick, or else the weight of her cape weighs her down a bit.
Tumblr media
A full-body suit of armor seems like a good move, until Loki attacks with a giant magnet.
In terms of looks, Thor and Mighty Thor look great, like they just stepped out of the comics, which is good because that is how their in-film costumes are supposed to look. Mighty Thor honestly looks better, though, with more paint and details sculpted on, while Thor, despite also having great sculpting, feels like he’s a bit lacking on paint. As for King Valkyrie, while the figure mostly also looks great, I feel like Hasbro could have done better with her head. While it does look like her, and the hair’s really good, her head’s not quite in proportion to the rest of her. It’s just a little too big.
There’s one detail I absolutely love about all three toys; they have different body types. Thor’s a broader guy, with clear muscles and armor, but he’s not built like He-Man. His build’s very realistic, even with all the armor. Mighty Thor’s got some clear muscle and bulk to her, which matches how Natalie Portman worked out for the role, but it’s a more realistic build than we often see in female superhero toys. To quote my fiancee, “there’s a bit of idealism, but it’s not bad, honestly.” Valkyrie has a smaller build, which matches her actress, and has a completely unique body, instead of just a repaint of Mighty Thor’s. Considering how often toys just repaint character bodies, especially with female characters, it’s nice to see this toyline went out of its way to do better. It’s also depressing that “these two women got unique figures with different body types” is where the bar is.
Tumblr media
The one pose she can be in if you want to use her gimmick.
So yes, the toys look great. On the other hand, all three figures are very limited in terms of articulation. Valkyrie has the best articulation, since both her wrists, her shoulders, and her head can move around nicely, though her hair can hinder the head sometimes. Mighty Thor is also decent, though her shoulders have a little less articulation and her hair can get bent by moving her head. Thor, meanwhile, is the weakest with articulation. His left arm has the same shoulder limits of Mighty Thor, and his hair and cape block his head from moving much, to an even greater extant than the other two figures. Also, unlike Mighty Thor, who can move her arm the gimmick is centered around without the gimmick being involved, Thor can’t move his gimmick-infused right arm without triggering his gimmick. The arm will just drop down. All three figures have no leg articulation, because you have to squeeze the legs to trigger the gimmick. I do give them a pass on this, though, even after looking at Laser Blade Buzz Lightyear’s leg-triggered gimmick, because these figures had a smaller budget than Buzz did, so it’s understandable their legs aren’t going to be an articulation hot spot.
Thor and Mighty Thor are the strongest figures in this line, though Valkyrie only loses points because her swords are very thin and can get bent very easily. Don’t put her in a box or set anything on top of her, or else those swords are gonna suffer.
Tumblr media
Her sword got bent because I picked her up at a bad angle. BE CAREFUL!
The “Love And Thunder” deluxe figures are currently available at retail for about $16, which does feel like a little much until you account for the rising prices since the 90’s. By today’s standards, that isn’t bad. They’re very clearly aimed at kids, who will definitely enjoy them, and the gimmicks make for fun things to fidget with. I would definitely recommend them. Next time, we’re going to be looking at more “Thor” stuff, because I am PUMPED for this new movie, so be ready! This is JL, signing off and wishing you Happy Toy Hunting!

Building Imagination and Skills: Our Positive Experience with MagHub Magnetic Tiles
Finding toys that are both educational and entertaining for our toddler can be tricky. We recently came across the MagHub Magnetic Tiles 65 Piece Set, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer in our playroom. These colourful magnetic blocks have sparked our child's creativity and provided endless hours of imaginative fun.
Tumblr media
Learning Through Play with Engaging Colours and Shapes
The MagHub set comes with a vibrant array of colourful tiles in various shapes, including squares, triangles, and rectangles. Even at a young age, our child is drawn to the bold colours, which naturally encourages exploration and play. The variety of shapes allows for building simple structures at first, gradually progressing to more complex creations as their fine motor skills and imagination develop. It's a fantastic way for them to learn about shapes, colours, and spatial reasoning in a fun and interactive way.
Sparkling Creativity and Imagination
The beauty of these magnetic tiles lies in their open-ended nature. Unlike some pre-defined construction sets, MagHub allows our child to build whatever their imagination conjures. One day, they're constructing a towering castle, the next, a sprawling racetrack for the included little car. The possibilities are endless, which keeps playtime fresh and exciting. We love seeing their creativity blossom as they experiment with different shapes and configurations.
Safe and Durable for Worry-Free Play
As parents, safety is paramount. We were happy to see that MagHub tiles are made from high-quality, food-grade ABS plastic that's free from BPA, phthalates, and latex. This ensures safe play for our child, even if they decide to explore the tiles through mouthing (a common toddler habit!). The tiles themselves are surprisingly sturdy and can withstand even the most enthusiastic building projects. We haven't experienced any cracking or chipping, even after months of use.
A Set That Grows with Your Child
The 65-piece set is a great starting point, offering enough variety for younger children to explore and build with. However, as our child's skills and imagination develop, the beauty of MagHub is that it's easily expandable. Additional sets can be purchased to create even larger and more elaborate structures. This ensures the toy has longevity and can continue to challenge and entertain our child as they grow.
More Than Just Play: A Tool for Early Development
Beyond the fun and creativity, MagHub tiles offer several developmental benefits for young children. Building with the tiles helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving abilities. As they design and construct their creations, they're also learning about balance, symmetry, and spatial reasoning. It's a fantastic way to combine playtime with valuable early learning experiences.
In Conclusion: A Must-Have for Playrooms
The MagHub Magnetic Tiles 65 Piece Set has become a staple in our playroom. It's a toy that encourages creativity, imagination, and learning through open-ended play. The high-quality, safe materials and durable construction provide peace of mind for parents, while the vibrant colours and endless building possibilities keep kids entertained for hours. Whether you're looking for a fun and educational toy for your toddler or a gift that will spark their imagination, the MagHub Magnetic Tiles are a fantastic choice.

Gone are the days of bulky desks that dominate a room. Modern study table designs for small rooms offer a plethora of features that maximize functionality without compromising on aesthetics. Here's how:
Hidden Compartments: A multifunctional table with drawers, shelves, or cabinets built-in provides ample storage for school supplies, art materials, and toys. This reduces clutter on the desk surface and keeps everything organized, fostering a focused study environment.
Foldable Features: Folding desks are lifesavers in tiny rooms. When not in use, the table can be folded away, freeing up precious floor space for playtime. Look for tables with fold-out shelves or a pull-out writing surface for added versatility.
Multi-Level Designs: Loft beds with built-in study areas underneath are a fantastic space-saving solution for smaller bedrooms. This creates a dedicated study zone without sacrificing floor space. Some designs even incorporate desks with shelves above, maximizing vertical storage.
Adjustable Elements: As your child grows, so should their furniture. Opt for study tables with adjustable heights and tiltable tops to ensure proper posture and support throughout their development.
Beyond Functionality: Fun and Inspiration
While practicality is key, don't forget the aesthetics! Kids furniture should be inspiring and reflect your child's personality. Look for study tables with playful pops of colour, fun shapes, or even built-in features like a chalkboard or magnetic surface.
From Homework Hero to Creative Canvas
Alex Daisy's multi-functional tables go beyond just a study surface. Many incorporate features that spark creativity and encourage imaginative play, like:
Magnetic whiteboards: These surfaces double up as a fun space for drawing, displaying artwork, or even leaving important reminders.
Removable shelves: These can be taken off to create a larger play area for building blocks or spreading out for art projects.
Integrated play areas: Some models even have built-in features like toy tracks or dollhouse compartments, seamlessly blending playtime with the study space.
Remember: When choosing a multifunctional study table, consider your child's age, needs, and interests. Involving them in the selection process can foster a sense of ownership over their study space.
By incorporating a multifunctional study table into your child's room, you can create a space that encourages learning, organization, and creativity, all within the confines of a small room.
Browse the Alex Daisy collection today and discover the perfect study table that will spark your child's imagination and help them thrive in their own unique space!
