LOUIS TOMLINSON PULLS OUT ALL THE STOPS FOR HIS SHOW AT THE O2 IN LONDON
WED 22ND NOVEMBER, 2023 | 12:38 PM
At London’s O2 Arena, Louis has it all.

“I’ve got these lot behind me, who the fuck is gonna stop us?” This question, asked by Louis Tomlinson moments after headlining his Away From Home festival for the first time two years ago, has become something of a mantra for his fans. It’s been shared on social media ad infinitum, worn on homemade merch, waved proudly on banners and signs, and shouted to the rafters at his concerts. Headlining a sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena on Friday night, it seems clear that the answer to his question is that no one ever will.
Taking place just over a year after the release of his celebrated second album ‘Faith In The Future’, and almost twelve years to the day after One Direction released their first record ‘Up All Night’, in the city where 1D formed and where he played his first full headline show as a solo artist, this might be the greatest full-circle moment of Louis’ career so far. But tonight isn’t a nostalgia trip, and there’s little time spent walking down memory lane. Instead, this show is all about the here and now, celebrating how a shared passion for music and the community that creates can build something that feels like magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the moment he walks out on centre stage in front of his fans, Louis Tomlinson is at home – and his fans make themselves at home right along with him. Opening with ‘The Greatest’ – a song written for and about crowds and nights like tonight – it’s clear that, though it might’ve taken him a long time to get back here, stages like this one are where he belongs.
For tonight’s landmark show, he pulls out all the stops. A specially recorded video introduction? New and improved light shows? Pyrotechnics? A strings section on stage?! At London’s O2 Arena, Louis has it all. His dedication to making the night special is met by his fans in equal measure, using phone torches and synchronised apps to create light shows of their own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A distinctive figure in trackies and a vest, Louis commands the room with ease. Playfully flipping fans off while singing, crouching down between songs to be closer to the people he’s talking to, he’s the star with his name in lights, but his show remains just as much about celebrating with the people that support him as it is about celebrating the music. Any mention of this sold-out show’s success is talked about as a collective. “O2, sold out?! You lot, unbelievable, right?!” he congratulates the crowd between songs.
Even when he’s talking about his own emotions, saying, “This might be the first time in my career where I have been under pressure tonight, and I feel fucking great about it,” it’s with acknowledgement to the people filling the room who make what he does possible. “You don’t have that confidence onstage unless you know you’ve got the best fucking fans in the world,” he states. “I never feel like I can find the words to ever truly thank you, but thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Restyling old songs to fit the sound he found for himself on his latest album (sir, we’re going to need a recording of ‘Back To You’ rock version ASAP) and giving a nod to his home county with a cover of fellow South Yorkshire sensations Arctic Monkeys between leading rapturous crowd singalongs to fan favourite hits, this is Louis Tomlinson at the top of his game.
“Look at what we’ve fucking done!” he yells to the room mid-set. The message, it seems, is clear: ain’t no one stopping Louis Tomlinson now.

I just read your newest fic and I'm speechless I didn't know you could write so beautifully (I love nyi don't get me wrong please it's just so different from that style that it took me by surprise) Do you read a lot of poetry? Could you recommend me your favorite books? I've always wanted to get into it and I'm curious to see what you like
hii anon! i don't take this in any sort of way dw lol!! i did want to try a different style of writing for that fic so it's actually a good thing that you've noticed a difference :) i've been reading poetry since middle school, so it's gonna be hard to condense everything i recommend without forgetting about a few but i'll give it a try!
to cover the basics i'd obviously name anything by james baldwin, alejandra pizarnik, alfonsina storni, maya angelou, adunis, rainer maria rilke, maria elena walsh, anne carson, louise glück, those are my favorite ones. for contemporary poetry which is mostly what i read nowadays i'd say the books i've liked the most are all of ocean vuong's, calling a wolf a wolf by kaveh akbar, soft science and the world keeps ending and the world goes on by franny choi, eyes bottle dark with a mouthful of flowers: poems by jake skeets, when i grow up i want to be a list of further possibilities and your emergency contact has experienced an emergency by chen chen, prelude to bruise by saeed jones, bright dead things by ada limon, wild is the wind by carl phillips, owed by joshua bennett, the tradition by jericho brown, madness by sam sax, not here by hieu minh nguyen, seam by tarfia faizullah, teaching my mother how to give birth by warsan shire and i'm currently reading and enjoying love and other poems by alex dimitrov

Plansters The Literary Community live writing class covered organic writing, Pansters (by the seat of) like me and Planning (Plot).  Before joining up, I had thought there was only one way: A to Z via B and C, and it held me back for yonks.  Because I don’t know my origins, having been abandoned and spending my first two years in Hong Kong orphanages, I felt I couldn’t get out of the blocks.  Many people enquiring about my past have encouraged me to get the story down; the first overseas adoptions to the UK in the 50s and 60s and our ground breaking, if somewhat eccentric, experiences.  I don’t do straight lines; personality-wise, I’m all over the place, pinging off in all directions.  It was a revelation that I’m not alone and some very successful writers are happy to fly this way.  Louise Doughty of Apple Tree Yard and Crossfire fame creates from a single striking scene and develops a story around it.  In a previous class, she suggested that Chapter One didn’t have to begin at the beginning; I could start in the middle.  So I did and I haven’t stopped since.  I now have a stream of consciousness anecdotes bubbling forth daily which I’m using to commit to the #100 Days of Writing Challenge that I have often started but never once completed.  I’m practising in the same way I taught myself watercolour painting during Lockdown – posting the results and, hopefully, the progress on social media. At some point I’ll get it in some kind of order, chronologically, perhaps, or not.  Imagine applying PRINCE2 principles?  Project Management.  Gordon Bennett, that will make me a Planster. #writing #book #booklover #creativewriting #RamblingOn #MindNinja #ChinWag #Cl-airBrush #memories #memoir #100daysofwriting #journaling #plan #plot #prince2 #projectmanagement #project https://www.instagram.com/p/CpIPbamIy9k/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Get in losers, we’re becoming vigilantes ♥
That’s right, this month we’re discussing the classic 90s road movie, Thelma & Louise 🚘👩‍🦰⛰️👩‍🦰🌵🛣️🚔💰
(emojis of oncoming automobile, woman: red hair, mountain, woman: red hair, cactus, motorway, oncoming police car, money bag)
So dust off your denim and your cowboy hat, and join us as we explore what rebellion and freedom look like when you're on the run from patriarchy.
Topics we'll be visiting on our journey include: the genre of the Western and 'frontier justice', the road as part of the infrastructure of patriarchy, and, of course, the iconic final scene.
To join the ride, head to the link in our bio, or find us on YouTube, Spotify, or your podcasting platform of choice 🔗 (link emoji)
Content Warnings:
Mentions of attempted rape, gender-based violence and harassment, police violence, murder, and death. References to suicide (Thelma & Louise driving off the cliff) will be made throughout. Claire-Louise Bennett – Checkout 19
On the cover of Checkout 19 it is proudly announced that the novel is a New York Times bestseller. Having finished the novel I wonder how many of those who purchased the novel actually finished it. I did. I am quite willing to admit however that I have no clue whatsoever as to what I have just read. The Newyorker review states that the outline of the novel is basic enough: the coming of age of a…

on the 2023 women's prize book long list if it was a nonfiction* in 2019? But Wasn't Great Circle from... (looking stuff up)

The link of Locke is purple. Titles: The Lacuna, The Very Thought of You, Black Water Rising. The Lacuna is highlighted blue, and Black Water Rising doesn't have its own link/page, end ID.)
Hey I've read Attica Locke. Okay Black Water Rising was 2009 and finalist for the 2010 and Great Circle was

(ID: The 2021 table with Susanna Clarke, Brit Bennett, Clair Fuller, and Yaa Gyasi. Clarke won. Piranesi has a hover-box that says, "Piranesi is a fantasy novel by English author Susanna Clarke, published by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2020. It is Clarke's..." cuts off, end ID.)

New York Times Best Seller The Song of Achilles with 2 blurbs, "fast, true, and incredibly rewarding... A remarkable achievement," by USA Today, and, "Mary Renault lives again! Ravishingly Vivid," by Emma Donoghue, author of Room. It has a sticker that says Winner! Of the Orange Prize for fiction. A novel, by Madeline Miller. Anyways,

Great Circle has a hover-box: "Great Circle is a 2021 novel by Maggie Shipstead, published on May 4, 2021 by Alfred A. Knopf." It's a larger box than necessary, end ID.)
There is a PATTERN have books from 1 year previously. I really like that, since the long list is happening "already" in February, um, well today is the oscars. But then, like, the fun stupid awards are november. what do you think would happen to the goodreads choice award if it let anyone at all make nominations. there's a discord bot that will display the link and summary and cover of a book based on "I'm Feeling Lucky" style searching quearying into the bot.i think that type of AI should sort the nominations and count them.
My thoughts.
*Hehe, no I'm not mad about the "memoir? fiction" aspect I just put it because everyone is saying everyone else is talkign about it.

With the blurb, "Gripping... a great story... You can't help but cheer for his victory," by Los Angeles Times Book Review, end ID.)
**Since Song of Achilles is popular, I hate it.
***Piranesi might have the same problems as Achilles. But I liked it. Mainly because I had musical accompaniment and was reading a LP version... so it felt slower due to being like 300 pages (it's somewhat short! People joke because appartently Mr. Strange and Dr. Norell is very long. Well I haven't seen it.)

By Leila Mottley. With the blurb, "Searing... An intimate portrait of a young Black woman searching for autonomy and fulfillment." from the New York Times. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell a novel by Susanna Clarke, black with white bird flight silouette. The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, with a blurb "sorry untranscribed I'm tired, a nove"one of the most immersive novels l've ever read," from Ta-Nehisi Coates, by Dawn Walton, a novel, it's red with a black guitar silhouette with an orange cut out of a woman's face, end ID.)
Oh and I didn't. Bother with Great Circle. But it was the only 2022 Women's Prize book I'd, like, well I'd heard of it, and, um. I'd heard of it, and Opal & Nev, which I did pick up, but unlike Great Circle I didn't crack it open at all.
From this year I think I haven't read any of them or cracked them open at all but I've heard a lot about Nightcrawling.
