Ad 🥩 @barandblock is a steakhouse chain serving up 30-day aged British & Irish prime beef and I visited its newly opened Paddington restaurant to see what’s changed in the last 3 years since my last visit to another branch. I’ve seen a massive step up in the quality and choice, and a new streamlined approach to the menu makes it even easier to select your favourite cut. You’ve got specialty cuts, such as spiral-cut ribeye, beef rib, and the steak sampler, or go classic and get rump, ribeye, sirloin or fillet in any weight you want and all hand-cut to order! We went for a 6oz ribeye and the steak sampler. The steaks were cooked perfectly with a nice smoky char on the outside from the grill. But to make these steaks even better you HAVE to get their new Block steak sauce, it’s incredible! It’s a sweet, fruity and smoky tamarind flavour that’s kind of like an A1 steak sauce. They sell it by the bottle too and I wish I bought one 🥲. Pricing is great, especially when you get sides included with the steak price, plus cocktails are 2 for 1 every day, 5-7pm, and you can enjoy the Save+Crave lunchtime set menu with 2 courses for £12.95 or 3 courses for £14.95, 11.30am-5pm Monday-Friday! Buttermilk fried chicken, James’ famous scotch bonnet jam, blue cheese sauce, crispy smoked bacon, chicken skin crumb, pickles and lettuce. It’s a great burger! The mix of the jam with the heat balanced off by the blue cheese sauce, it’s a perfect pairing. I want double of everything though. Smother it in double the blue cheese sauce and jam so it’s dripping and give me 2 chicken pieces, this burger deserves to be a tower! But a more manageable burger means you can get more of @black_bear_burger amazing small plates. I had the pleasure of dining at Ayanna’s London an amazing Family owned Caribbean restaurant and it was truly a delightful experience.
The food was bursting with flavors and the presentation was impeccable. From the tender Oxtail to the complementary mouthwatering Callaloo Spring Rolls, every dish was a delicious treat for the taste buds. The friendly staff and Mellow atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. You can really tell the food is made with love here! Cocktails are delightful.
