Reuben (Experiment 625) will finally become a Funko Pop!
Some of you dedicated Lilo & Stitch fans out there may have already heard the news today, but Funko has announced as part of their Funko Fair 2023 event that Experiment 625, a.k.a. Reuben, will finally get a Funko Pop! figure!
In time for the 20th anniversary year of Stitch! The Movie and the debut Lilo & Stitch: The Series, the beloved lazy sandwich boy's figure happily holds—what else?—a bitten-into grilled cheese sandwich. ("Ahh! Grilled cheese!")
He will be available as a Books-A-Million exclusive in the United States. His figure, which can be pre-ordered over here, is already trending as a top seller on the Books-A-Million website.
The figure also has a page on the Funko Europe website, which shows that he will be available for £15 in the UK or €17 in most European countries.
This little news has certainly been exciting for the Lilo & Stitch fandom. Hopefully, this will break the ongoing trend of the franchise's hyperfixation on Stitch and lead to more official merch of the rest of his 'ohana, especially his cousins.

Has it really been 20 years since Arti and I sat in that theater in FL, summer of 2002, watching Lilo and Stitch for the first time?
Apparently yes. Happy, happy anniversary to Disney's most unique film, the one that started this big franchise we got hooked on. (Yes, we're 2 days late.) This movie is unlike any other for our family, which shows, I think - since we're adults and to this day are still making fanart and fancanons for it. Thanks for 20 years made richer by this story, @chrissandersart-blog!
ArtistIssues drew Lilo and Stitch (obviously - look at that ACCURACY, did it come out of a Disney storybook OH MY GOSH-) and Doverstar drew Stitch and Ani (pastel and off-kilter to the last)!
Happy 20 years, guys!

learning about the abysmal conditions that the animators of spiderverse had to endure made me think about that one chris sanders interview for the 20th anniversary of lilo and stitch. prior to lilo and stitch he had worked on mulan, and the conditions there were also stressful and harrowing. he affirmed that making it wasn't fun, something that completely goes over your head when you watch the movie. he then said that, for lilo and stitch, he wanted to have a smaller crew who worked at their own pace, with frequent breaks.
and im not saying that you "can tell" when a movie's crew is overworked. both mulan and lilo and stitch are beloved and well liked movies. nevertheless, when i learned about lilo and stitch's production i became even more fond of it.
wouldn't knowing that the people who made a movie did so happily and with their own terms enrich the viewer's experience?
