you know i had a fun little vp idea i wanted to do for the cyberpunk anniversary but i haven't had the energy to even touch it recently so i'll just settle with saying that this game impacted me in ways i never thought it would when i first picked it up 3 years ago. i knew i would enjoy it, i had been looking forward to it for a long time, and despite a ~controversial~ launch, i had a fucking blast from day 1 (on ps4 no less). regardless of bugs and memes and public dunking, the story grabbed me like nothing else could at the time, and it reignited so much of my passion and motivation for art that i had lost in the clutches of mental illness and i'll always be grateful for that. it introduced me to so many wonderful people (some whom i carry very close to my heart), and maybe most personally surprising, it gave me an outlet to understand parts of myself that i had been too afraid to acknowledge for a long time, the courage to accept and embrace myself as non-binary, and allow myself to just BE without trying to convince myself i'm crazy. that's not what i expected from the get-go but it's been a really fun journey to be on ngl

#yeah this fandom been a little rocky in places but i would be lying if i said this community here wasn't special to me #so much love and passion and creativity to be around and be inspired by #so many people who have been impacted by this silly little heartwrenching game #devs who have poured their heart into it to deliver something genuinely incredible #its one of those strange things that really did fully change the trajectory of this little leg of my life #to think that until 3 years ago i hadn't even touched art in a decade #now there are lovely people who want to spend money on my work #3 years ago i bought my first (and only) refurbished ps4 to play this game and now im sitting on a fancy gaming laptop #ive said it before but vp has been such an important creative outlet too #its allowed me to live my dreams of being a film director. a cinematographer. a writer. #the whole game has let me be so damn self-indulgent sometimes i feel like a kid again just unashamedly playing barbie #finding the JOY of just. creating. #i learned so much about myself through an OC because of this game #it went from 'huh what is this feeling? gender envy?' to being like full blown 'oh yea. i get it now.' so much of my life makes sense kfslf #and i met people who mean the world to me on top of it all #woof anyways #i know i say it a lot but genuinely thank u to yall who have encouraged me and supported me and who enjoy the things that i make #youve made such a difference in my life without knowing it!

I saw my psychiatrist on Wednesday and he seemed pretty embarrassed when I was like "And also the Victorians were right and that womb do be wandering" for about ten minutes discussing the issues I've been having with PMDD-like symptoms among other gynaecological Unpleasantness that have contributed to my overall emotional ~dysregulation, but also like... listen, buddy, I also do not want to be talking to you about this, but unfortunately the fucking thing is strangling my brain for half the month, and my brain is your department.

#not to be too hard on him though #he does seem to be like... fine as psychiatrists go #it was only my second time seeing him since he replaced by previous guy who has since retired #but I haven't had any big red flags #and did have the green flag of him being like 'yeah no that wouldn't be a good idea at all and I wouldn't recommend it' #re: not looking at my phone and/or laptop screens in the evening #when I said that my sleep schedule had been hard to get sorted #but that strictly observing ~sleep hygiene and having no screens after 9 p.m. would mean that I'd be very socially isolated #because most of my friends live abroad in other time zones and I largely interact with them in the evening #and when I'm not getting out much I don't have a lot of other social outlets #and it felt like the net cons of avoiding screens outweight the net pros of it #and I wouldn't realistically be able to hold myself to it #because I'd get too lonely

I think the absolutely most baffling thing to me that I've noticed in the AI generated image discourse is that people seem to think that artists don't make any compromises or sacrifices ever and live perfect, comfortable lives where things just happen to align perfectly for them to have the time to create art that perfectly aligns with their vision

"I don't have the time to draw" do you really know if artists simply have the time to draw or on the contrary, have to sacrifice something to gain that time to draw? can you be so sure that they don't have to deal with hardships to gain the time to draw? or, they have the time to draw because they can't do something else in their lives due to their circumstances, and drawing is the only thing that will fill this time?

"I can't create stuff that meets my vision" how can you be so sure that the stuff artists create meets their vision? do you really think this art was their vision from the absolute beginning? or did they actually have to make compromises to reach this specific look, which maybe wasn't what they aimed for to begin with? can you even be sure if the medium they spend the most time on is the medium they intended to pick up from the beginning, or is it a medium they've had to pick up to compromise for not picking up another art form they wanted to stick to in the first place due to myriads of reasons?

#hazy rambles #anti ai #anti ai art #ai discourse #i had a dogshit laptop for some time years ago and had to make tons and tons of compromises when using it for drawing #like merging layers etc bc that laptop lacked processing power #it would shit itself every time i drew something bigger than 1000x1000 pixels with 10+ layers #so i had to constantly merge layers whenever drawing bc else it would lag like hell #couldn't even listen to music on that thing while drawing bc it would just chug #so i had to make lots and lots of compromises and learn different techniques due to these compromises #hell me using computer to draw is a compromise in a way! #i did lots and lots of traditional art before getting into digital art! #and digital art is a whole lot more practical for me bc traditional art supplies can take up a lot of space #something which i don't have a whole lot of #and i know many people can relate #anyways when i look at all of those roadblocks and obstacles people mention as justification for not drawing #and just gravitating towards AI generated images instead of making compromises or pick up another medium as an outlet #sorry not sorry but i don't think you actually /want/ to create art #you just want pretty pictures and don't understand the process behind the creation process to begin with #art is not about the destination but the journey #and if you're not willing to put up with the journey to reach the destination then art simply isn't for you #and i'm sorry but i have to be a little mean about this #especially when i've had to put up with people making lots of assumptions about me as if they personally knew me

one more thing i forgot to whine about today: few days ago, i was making dinner to eat while watching golden girls, and i thought - hm, since i still have a bit of savings left, i should actually get myself a christmas gift of an actual properly fitted bra. the idea got me very excited - my size is only really carried at these expensive lingerie shops, but you know, i figured it would be good for me.

but as i finished cooking, went upstairs, i found my laptop turned off - just while i was getting excited about lingerie, my laptop battery has suddenly and irreversably died! had to replace it, and it ended up costing around as much as a bra... can you believe my luck :(

Do Not Buy Microsoft Laptops Worst Mistake Of My Life

#like a year ago this laptop started having a problem where it would act like it was charging but lose battery #like the LED on the charger would turn on and the battery icon would indicate charging but it would just not actually charge #this was inexplicably remedied by plugging in a USB-C charger and then plugging the regular charger back in #NOW I HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PROBLEM! #neither my charger nor any USBC charger will charge it at all. no LED and no charging indicator. #I've restarted it several times and tried multiple outlets and unplugged and replugged every component #so as of right now this relatively new laptops battery is just completely dead

Sorry I havent been posting my own art much! Ive been trying to get back on it but my work and studies have been eating up my time, brain and energy at the moment.
