Hello sarcasticgaypotato, just stopping by to say I read the Resurrection Project for the first time after my most recent play through of the Portal games and how much I loved it and how GLaDOS’ journey to humanity and self-acceptance - and her realisation that her first big step on that road was saving Chell’s life way back when - made me feel SO MUCH. Thank you for it, it made my week.

Hello!! Gosh, thank you! I love hearing about the experience people have reading my work, especially which point touched them the most.

If you'll permit me to gush for a moment about GLaDOS- She's such an important character to me, and I wanted to make sure that her arc in The Resurrection Project did her justice.

One of the things that frustrates me the most with Portal fics is when a post-Portal 2 fic writes GLaDOS like the events of the second game never happened. I hate wasting time forcing her and Chell to arbitrarily be enemies again just so they can make up a second time.

The issue isn't 'oh no, can Chell and GLaDOS EVER be on the same side?' because we know they can! That has been resolved already. The issue at the end of Portal 2 is GLaDOS's outward refusal to accept the idea of having humanity in her, and with that, human emotion. She makes a big show out of 'deleting Caroline' because she can't stand anybody (even herself) seeing something human in her.

In Portal 2, GLaDOS attributes the surge of emotion she felt while saving Chell to Caroline. The Resurrection Project was all about her coming to the realization that she can't blame those feelings on a dead woman.

Chell has always been the thing that makes GLaDOS feel alive.
