If there's anything that this session has taught us, it's that the life series has the amazing and completely unintentional power of foreshadowing, poetic cinema, and the butterfly effect. There's:

The wither painting in the roommates' home.

Joel recruiting Lizzie to hurt/kill Scott leading her to go to the End to try and kill him, which led to her death.

The two wooden fence posts that Mumbo placed as a joke to stop Martyn being the thing to ultimately seal Mumbo's fate.

Grian failing last week's task without realizing it, making him roll for a hard task this week, thus making him have to get the Wither and Warden with Etho that killed Jimmy and Mumbo.

Edit: Lizzie's poem to Joel from Session 1: "You won me a bone, I'll never leave you alone. / I hope you stay alive and also thrive. / Don't forget to shift, when you're near a rift."

There's probably more I've forgotten but this session in particular has been CRAZY with all of this.

the thing is that red robin & bg2009 are pretty interesting to me as sibling series where red robin is the story of a man whose life is seemingly falling apart but he is an extremely reliable narrator about it and bg2009 is the story of a woman whose life is seemingly coming together but she is an unreliable narrator about it but i know this is not the intended read of them at all lmao because the problem with reborn era is that all the stories are ultimately so isolated from each other i don't think character arcs were intended to mirror each other at all

#and bqm didn't intend steph to be an unreliable narrator clearly #sorry i actually do have a lot of bg2009 thoughts but i usually keep them to myself lmao i'm just thinking about it now #the main one being that as far as female led comics series it is a high point #but if comic writers woke up one day and wrote us a lot of female led comics and actually gave those women the same thought they do males #then bg2009 would be incredibly weak in comparison

you know i did a spit take when i learned that marty o'donnell's new company was reviving the canceled controversial game 'six days in fallujah' back in 2021 and just thought it was some weird contractual obligation but now that hes vocally supporting an ethnic cleansing im not so sure cuz like holy shit

i followed marty when he was laid off from destiny. he founded a new company and their first project was this vr game about a disabled woman of color using a magic cloth to see the world around her with a touching soundtrack and i was like 'thats so wholesome' and then 😬😬😬

I’ve gone on and on about how Leo wants to be who Splinter finds is the ideal person (which just so happens to be Splinter’s ideal version of himself) but I have yet to really touch upon how Donnie is the one who most directly parallels Splinter himself to an honestly shocking degree, Raph’s taking from Splinter’s teachings and parenting has resulted in an unhealthy mixup in the different dynamics of a family versus a team, and Mikey is the one who is simultaneously the most focused on family and the most intrinsically himself which both leads to his better grasp of mystics and honestly what just might be the healthiest dynamic with Splinter.
