well hi hello, happy wip wednesday, it's been a hot minute, but I finally have some fic that's not just drabbles to share!

so, I give you a three-part skank!fic series. because I love skank!fic. and I've been trying to write the main multi-chapter fic of this for somewhere around a year, but the pieces didn't want to fall into place until much more recently. anyway, I'll give you some info about the contents of this series:

no sweet dream (but a hell of a nightmare)

a (roughly) 1,250 one shot, from Quinn Fabray's perspective, exploring how and why Quinn, and in this series, Kurt too, become skanks.

Summary: Quinn was tired of Lima and the face she'd put on for years. Kurt felt the same. It only made sense for them to reinvent themselves.

Summary: A mid-summer house party led Kurt into a summer fling filled with fire: desire and anger, equally. But fire meant that someone could get burned.

Dear Journal, 

Mr. Anderson came into the shop today. 

I don’t know who was more surprised, him or me. He has always been unfailingly polite to me, but never more than that. He will speak to me when necessary, but sometimes I can feel him eyeing my more flamboyant outfits, and I never really got the impression he takes me seriously as a man. 

I’d like to say it doesn’t bother me, but it does. He’s Blaine’s father and for all his faults, Blaine loves him, so I want him to accept me. Since I’m planning to be with Blaine for as long as he’ll have me, it would be nice if his dad and I could get along. 

I had just finished up on Mrs. Burke’s engine repair when I saw him walk up to the front desk. Apparently, he’d come in to have his car detailed, and while that sort of thing is usually left to the newbies, Finn had just left to take his break, so I decided to step in. 

It took a few seconds for him to recognise me, since I usually don’t walk around in grease stained overalls, but I just offered him my hand (after I had cleaned it of course) and showed him where to park his car. 

Mr. Anderson had a pensive look on his face, and while one unexpected encounter might not be enough to change his perspective, I hope that this will make him see me as more than just the stereotypical image he has.  

I am more than just my high pitched voice or sense of style. Yes, I like boys and fashion and musical theatre. But I also like watching Formula 1 with my dad and fixing cars, and I am damn good at that too. 

Maybe someday the world will see that I am not a box. That there are more than four sides to me.

I’d also just like to preface this post by saying that everything that is said beneath this paragraph is my opinion. If you like the fandoms, tropes, characters and ships I don’t like, or vice versa, that’s awesome, and I’m really happy you find enjoyment out of something I personally cannot. But I’m also not looking to have my mind changed, I’m just disclosing what I think and that be all. 💛

3) What is your most popular fanfic?

A glance through the hourglass.

Statistically speaking it’s actually my second most popular, and when I finally post the kurtbas fanfic for the Dalton series it’ll probably end up in third, but it’s the one I get the most interactions with outside of AO3, and tbh as much as I still love my historical fiction fics, I’m much prouder of this one. (Despite the fact it’s two chapters long rn-)

4) Do you write original stories as well?

Uhm, not really? But sometimes when I want to show a fic to someone that doesn’t know I write fanfic, I copy the document, switch up the names and a few plot points, and then show that instead, so I guess in a way that’s somewhat original, but not really. I have had ideas for original stories though. (And the Jacky bio doesn’t count.)

5) What fanfic of yours should everyone have read?

I’m not confident enough to claim anyone should have to read any of my fics, but if you’re a kurtbas shipper and you haven’t read the start of AGTTHG, it would mean the world to me if you did- /hj.

6) What is a fandom will you never write for?

Uhm…I don’t really know. I guess H*rry P*tter, but that’s mainly because the fandom freaks me out and the queen of terfs doesn’t deserve anymore exposure unless it’s negative. (It’s also just not really my thing and the only character I remember liking was Sirius, which I think is basic take?)

7) What is a ship you will never write for?

Seblaine. Really really not a fan of Blaine and I thought watching those two interact was like watching wet cardboard disintegrate, says a lot that Blaine didn’t shake off Seb’s attempts or even disclose that he had a boyfriend when they first met, and I also think Sebastian deserves somebody on par with him mentally and emotionally, which Blaine just isn’t. The only reason why I’ll even write Klaine is if it’s in the context of them being together at the start of a kurtbas fic, and then they break up. So overall anything to do with Blaine, but Seblaine especially.

8) Archive of Our Own, FanFiction.net, Wattpad, Tumblr, etc. which platform do you prefer?

I was introduced to fanfic on FF.net at around the age of 10, I would read vaguely on Wattpad from the age of 12-14, and although not through this account, I’ve been on tumblr since 2015/2016, AO3 was actually the last site I discovered and to start with I found it too complicated to navigate, but I think within the last 5 years it’s definitely become my favourite platform when it comes to fanfic.

9) What are your favorite fanfics?

I don’t think I can pick, I have so many, but I’ll link some of my faves off of the top of my head.

10) How do you stay motivated to finish what you've started?

I just try not to pressure myself, and I keep myself updated in the media. If I’m feeling a little downbeat when it comes to Sebastian ideas, I’ll listen to his songs or watch his clips from glee, sometimes I’ll just read fanfic about him or listen to the playlists I have centred around him, I just surround myself with things that feel like ‘Bas. If I’m feeling motivated enough to write something away from my main projects, whether that be kurtbas, childhood Seb (lots of this rn), or even Niff, then I will write whatever I’m feeling. I just let my emotions and mind create, and I have no apologies. Updates will come when they come, and when I’m happy with them, which has helped me wonders.

I used to have a very unhealthy relationship with writing fanfic, to the point where I would bang out a 1500-2500 word chapter within an hour, check it over once, and just throw it up there. This really burnt me out because I stopped writing for fun, and more so for reader satisfaction, and I ended up loathing everything that I wrote because I knew I could do better, but was still so desperate for interaction that I almost didn’t care. Now my chapters are 7000+, carefully edited, sometimes even beta read, and I’m much happier with them, and I’m a lot less concerned with reader statistics, so when I do get wonderful comments or DMs, it makes them feel even more deserved. Now that I’ve found a system that is writer friendly to me, I find that I haven’t lost interest in my projects because I’m actually enjoying what I do, even if updates are separated by months. I’m proud of my work, and I think that makes all the difference.

So to shorten that, my advice would be to consume the media as much as you want, and be kinder to yourself about writing/updating.

11) What's your longest fanfic?

I don’t really have an answer because I’m not too far into the game again where I have a lot of finished works to compare this too, but my chapters are now always 8000 words+, so hopefully soon I’ll have an answer.

12) Do you want to break your readers' heart or make them laugh?

I like to do both. I like to make my readers feel all sorts of things, but I would say I’m more tailored towards angst/Hurt + Comfort. And I’ve actually made @ultravioletmorning--light cry before, which I’ve been told is a tough job.

13) What is your planning process?

I used to have a very strict planning process. I would write a short summary for each chapter and make sure I knew what went where, and then I would write it out of order. Now I just have an overall direction of where I want the fic to go, a few key plot points that need to happen to move the story along, and some key characters listed. I have two new multi-chapter fics in the works, both kurtbastian, which will be fully written, or at least over halfway, before I start publishing them, just to make sure I’m as devoted to them as I am to AGTTHG, but this is new waters for me, so I wouldn’t class it as my current planning process.

14) What have others criticized about your fanfic?

I’m very lucky to have not received much criticism, and if I have it has always been kind and constructive, but I would say the concern I get the most of would be my wordiness. Sometimes I talk a little too much, and this shows through my description. I often struggle to find the balance between ‘too much’ and ‘not enough’, but I am thoroughly working on it.

16) Do you use sentence starters, writing prompts and/or fandom headcanons for your fanfics?

Very rarely, but sometimes I’ll see HC’s or sentence starters that I like, and I’ll see what I can work with.

17) Do you use/follow advice from writing blogs posts?

I do have a writing board on Pinterest that I will use mostly for synonyms, but those are posts from all sorts of blogs and creators, so I couldn’t pinpoint exactly who I follow and why.

(Klaine) If I Can Make Your Heart My Home - (Klaine Reverse Bang 2023) Life in New York City and working in the restaurant industry wasn’t exactly what Kurt Hummel had expected it would be. He’s lonely, stressed out and miserable. He’s almost ready to throw in the towel and return home to Ohio when a chance meeting with a musician in Central Park changes everything. (Warning: an angsty rollercoaster of a ride. Soooo many cameos from Glee characters! 😉)

(Klaine) Falling For You -(Klaine Secret Santa 2023) - Successful doctor, Blaine Anderson has his hands full heading up the pediatric wing of Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in NY City. Life with that job and his precocious 6 year old daughter certainly keeps him on his toes - so much so that he thinks he can avoid dealing with the hole left in his life from the death of his husband. Little does he know that falling in love is on the horizon, quite literally, when he meets a florist by the name of Kurt Hummel. (Kid!fic with a bit of angst but a happy ending)

(RWRB) Puppy Love - (RWRB NYE gift exchange 2023) The cold snowy day that Henry Fox discovers an abandoned beagle puppy in an alley brings handsome, flirty veterinarian, Alex Claremont-Diaz into his life. Alex is a single dad, recently moved to NY with his young son who Henry hasn't met yet - or so Alex thought. (Fluffy kid!fic)

(Klaine) Sanctuary - (Klaine Word Scramble 2023) Crown Prince Blaine has stumbled into a secluded glade, trying to escape the horrors of the bloody war his father had brought upon their kingdom. Mourning his beloved older brother and faced with the burden of taking his place in the kingdom, Blaine yearns for a place to hid from the world to deal with the issues weighing on his heavy heart. He encounters a mysterious elf, the guardian of the magical spring that Blaine has mistakenly defiled, whose growing connection to his life the young prince can't ignore. (Inspired by an idea/ artwork by @datshitrandom and @justgleekout)

(RWRB) I approach, and I withdraw (tentative title) - Historical fic - Alejandro Diaz was still a boy when he followed his father into the thick of the fight for Mexico's independence. A series of unfortunate events, however, led him and his family to flee his home and to adopt new identities for their own safety. Years later, after he finds himself well ensconced in his new life as an attaché to the office of the new American ambassador to England, Alexander Claremont soon finds his past catching up to him. (Inspired by these historical paintings by @stormtrooperjeff17004 as well as artwork from @artofobsession seen here and here.)

(RWRB) Shaken, Not Stirred (Spy!AU) - CIA Officer Alex Claremont Diaz is not new to working on joint operations with other foreign agencies. He does it often and he does it well, which is why his superior, Zahra Bankston, never hesitates to assign them to him. What he wasn't expecting that morning was to be put on a new assignment with his least favorite MI6 operative, Henry Fox - and that they had to use being a newly married couple as their cover to get the job done. (Inspired by this drawing by @noodles-and-tea )

(Klaine) Cuffed (a D/s and soulmate story and prequel to my first ever fic, Trick or Treat) - - Musician Blaine Anderson has always been lonely sub, yearning for a place to belong and someone to belong to. Kurt Hummel is the an overworked and high in demand designer - a Dom with no time to sit and relax and focus on what his needs are. When an old friend hires Kurt to revamp his new club, Kurt's life becomes intertwined with Blaine's in a way neither of them could ignore.

(Klaine) Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie (Day 2 /Bikini - Klaine Advent 2023/ PWP) - A casual little fashion critique while the boys are on a well needed vacation, leads to a little outdoor fun. (Set in my Trick or Treat AU)

(RWRB) how ardently i admire and love you (online auction!AU) - Alex is desperate to find the perfect birthday gift for Henry, and eventually finds himself in an online bidding war for the one unique item that he knows his boyfriend would just adore.

(Klaine) I Know You Wanna Take Me Home (tentative title) (Klaine Valentines Challenge 2024/Pretty Woman!AU) Well established business man, Kurt Hummel never thought he could find anyone of substance among the escorts at Dalton House. But after being convinced to visit the upscale club by his friend, Kurt's mind is quickly changed once he sets his eyes on a beautiful boy in a gilded cage who was up for auction that night.

(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Klaine Advent 2022) - Set in my Klaine superhero AU - Under The Cover of Darkness) Blaine decides to go home with Kurt for the holidays and doesn't make the best first impression with Kurt's parents.

(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Feudal Japan!AU) - based off of novel The Tokaido Road - On a personal mission to avenge the murder of his father, Kurt travels the Tokaido , braving its dangers and interesting characters on the way. As the son of a nobleman, Kurt travels in disguise, unaware that the person who sanctioned his father's murderer has also sent Blaine, a talented and deadly ronin, to find and kill Kurt as well.

(RWRB)- the phantom touch of your hand (tentative title) - (Fantasy/cursed tattoo fic!AU) Two young swordsmen are determined to vanquish a sorcerer who has laid a tragic curse on them both. The problem is, the curse keeps them from being together at the same time, doomed to travel alone, one by day, the other by night - the only reminder of the other being the cursed tattoo burned into their skin.

(Klaine) - Untitled Klaine fic (While You were Sleeping!AU) - Kurt Hummel always wanted to live in NYC - his dreams were to be on Broadway. Being on the Broadway stage that is. Not working on the corner of Broadway and 44th in one of those coffee/food carts parked out on the street. Things for him change the day that Cooper Anderson, Kurt's gorgeous repeat customer whom he secretly fantasizes about, nearly gets hit by a bus. After following him to the hospital, Kurt gets mistaken for being his crush's fiancee which should have been his dream come true - until he meets Cooper's sweet down to earth brother, Blaine.

(Sebklaine) Untitled Klaine fic (PWP College threesome) - heavily influenced by "one of those movies" - wink, wink . . - Kurt's frustrated ( in more ways than one) and his good friends Blaine and Sebastian find a way to help him out.

(Klaine/RWRB) - Untitled fic (Scheherazade/ 1001 Arabian Nights !AU) - A lone traveler gets captured by a band of sex slavers in the desert. After being subjected to the horrors of slavery, the young man gets rescued by a desert prince in disguise, chosen to be his sole consort. Every evening, the consort tells his prince a story for him amusement. - planning a series of probably shorts all in the same style. Maybe it'll be a collection to do with other writers? Not sure yet. Might alternate with either Henry/Alex being the Prince and Consort and Blaine/Kurt being the characters in the bedtime tales or vice versa. Or maybe create 2 OC to be the Prince/Consort and have the other four boys be the characters in the shorter stories. I'm assuming it would be alot of mature/explicit shorts - but wouldn't mind a mix of other ratings in between as well.
