this has been sitting in my drafts for god knows how long, and given that i have a hetamyu url i should be posting about it more. Anyway! As the local hetamyu and tenimyu lover, it's time for:

HETAMYU CAST MEMBERS IN TENIMYU PROPAGANDA

for the unfamiliar, Prince of Tennis is a classic sports manga from the early '00s that chronicles middle school tennis prodigy Echizen Ryoma and his tennis club's journey to win the national tournament. it spawned a hugely successful series of musicals that launched the careers of countless 2.5D and tokusatsu actors, including half the actors in the Hetamyu cast!

Tenimyu has to date ran 4 seasons: the 1st premiered in 2003 and the 4th season is currently running! All seasons cover the same storylines, but the actors and and some of the songs and/or the instrumental/vocal arrangements for the songs change with every season. Most of the Hetamyu cast who were alumni appeared in the Tenimyu 1st and 2nd.

From 1st season, we have:

Juri

Juri, who plays France in Hetamyu, plays the aggressive but talented delinquent Akutsu Jin in Tenimyu! He originated the role in 1st season during the run of Side Yamabuki feat. St. Rudolph Gakuen in 2005 when he was 24, and continued to appear as a guest in succeeding 1st season myus.

I can't find a clip of his solo song on youtube, so here's Yuki vs Ijii (Courage vs Will), the song that accompanies his character's match against Ryoma. Forgive the crusty video quality, the 00s were a hard time.

Isogai Ryuko

Ryuko, our myu America, portrayed the genius player Chitose Senri! He was first actor to do the role as part of the Shitenhouji A cast, and he debuted in the Treasure Match Shitenhouji feat. Hyotei Gakuen musical in 2007 when he was 20. He doesn't have a solo song, but he has a duet with Tezuka, one of the principal characters: Hyakuren Jitoku no Kiwami vs Saiki Kampatsu no Kiwami (Pinnacle of Hard Work vs Pinnacle of Great Wisdom).

Yamaoki Yuuki

Okki played Yanagi Renji, one of Rikkai's best players, in Tenimyu. He was the second actor to play the role in 1st, replacing Ono Kento, and he debuted in the Final Match Rikkai Part 1 when he was 18 years old. Here's him singing Sago e no Canon, his character duet with his doubles partner Kirihara Akaya, from Final Match Rikkai:

Ueda Yusuke

Yusuke played Tachibana Kippei, Fudomine's dependable captain, in Tenimyu 2nd! He debuted in Seigaku vs Fudomine in 2011 when he was 20 years old. Unfortunately I can no longer upload any clips from Tenimyu 2nd to youtube because of copyright blocking me right out of the gate, so I've linked to a clip of Kejime, his solo from Seigaku vs Shitenhouji (aka the song that should've bagged him the role of Germany from the very beginning):

Hirose Daisuke

Daichan played the twins Ryou and Atsushi Kisarazu! He first appeared in Seigaku vs St. Rudolph~Yamabuki in 2011 as Atsushi Kisarazu when he was 20, and then debuted as Ryou in Seigaku vs Rokkaku in 2012. Unfortunately neither of the twins are major characters, but they do have parts in their team songs! I've linked Rokkaku's team song, Court de Aou (warning for flashing lights):

ROU (Kikuchi Takuya)

ROU played Hyotei's aloof genius player with an iconic deep voice, Oshitari Yuushi (my fav)! He debuted in Seigaku vs Hyotei in 2011 when he was 20. Even back then, he was an incredible singer, and the production certainly knew it; here's him singing an acoustic solo version of Hyotei's theme song, Koori no Emperor, in Dream Live 2011

Sugie Taishi

Taishi, our myu China, played Hitouji Yuuji, a player from Shitenhouji known for his vocal impressions and one half of a *canon* gay couple! He debuted in Seigaku vs Shitenhouji in 2013. Here's him singing his duet with Konjiki Koharu, his character's doubles partner and boyfriend, Geijutsu teki na Tennis:

Honorable mention: The first actor who played Germany in Hetamyu, Omi Yoichiro, was also in Tenimyu 2nd as Mori Tatsunori, one of Tachibana's (Yusuke) teammates!

Ryou Kikuchi Name analysis

Another one of my Mamiya name analysis posts on tumblr the subject of my name analysis is ryou kikuchi one of my favorite characters of mamiya. This is the second post on name meaning for the characters i did for the series I choose Ryou because there something about his name that caught my attention is the kanji of the name.

This post is just my interpretation of what his name means to his character so I could be wrong when I’m discussing it or dogey in some areas.

lets began with his given name “Ryou” his given name is written in katakana. In Japanese katakana are largely reserved for “loan” words its used for nouns or difficult kanji since kanji for names can be hard to say.

I don’t have any idea why his name is in katakana but in my interpretation it would go with Ryous character since his personality is honest since katakana is easy to say compared to kanji and much simpler to spell than kanji this could the reason be why his name is written in katakana. It probably isn’t spelled with kanji since Ryou is a person doesn’t want to bother with things too much.

Or another would be that his mother gave him that name because she does not see any point in a proper name indicating how little she cared for her son.

Now for his surname, His surname is written with kanji when broken down into the first kanji “Kiku”means Chrysanthemum in Japanese and the second kanji “chi” means pound, the kanji in his surname is spelled as "Chrysanthemum pound” when put together. the meaning is obvious right? well no. on the surface it may seem like his name isn’t that important since the meaning behind them aren't but when I look at it closely they are.Theres a lot of subtlety that have something to do with it

Japanese culture is enriched in flowers they are obsessed with flowers and nature this is seen in traditional poetry and appreciation for the seasons.  Chrysanthemum are notable in Japanese culture,  Chrysanthemum are considered noble flowers due to their association with the emperor they are used to name the position of the Japanese emperor of the throne the Chrysanthemum crest indicates connection to the emperor.  Chrysanthemum flowers when displayed evoke elegance and beauty it might be the impression or feeling his character you get reading this kanji.

Chrysanthemum symbolize longevity, endurance and integrity, The the flowers connection to notably and symbolism goes with Kikuchis overall character and appearance Ryou is called gallant or heroic by others including Natusme reinforcing the flowers meaning.

White chrysanthemum flowers symbolize death in Japanese used to decorate for funerals I find some of the symbolism correlating to death ironic for Kikuchi since it foreshadows his death in fall down.

for his second kanji chi translating into “pounds" or “moats” it didn’t sound like anything when said but looking at the subtle it does. pound or moat is a geography landmark, moats are a deep wide ditch that is usually filled with water surrounding something moats are used around castles to protect it from intruders.

The whole moat references Kikuchis tragic circumstances, this could be a metaphor on Kikuchis life since the that pound or moat can mean his horrible circumstances.  Being born to a abusive mother who is rarely home, forced to grow up quickly and abandoned his childlike innocence in order to take care of his younger sister, took multiple jobs to provide for his little sister, forced to fight delinquents on a daily basis, shunned by his classmates, wounds from the abuse was mistaken that he got into fights. the attitude he displayed is someone who is trapped with the moat which is his life that hes stuck in a moat surrounded by water could not escape his problems within his life surrounding him Kikuchi himself feels he did not have a choice but accept the moat that he is surrounded in.

Castles are usually reserved for nobility another reference to Kikichis noble character as I discussed back in the chrysanthemum segment. The word protection comes from how Kikuchi trying to protect his younger sister from their abusive mother even kill her

Hes a flower that bloomed in horrible circumstances that is a moat, unable to escape the body of water surrounding it. though it did not diminish his nobility hes a flower that bloomed regardless.

I don’t know too much about Japanese or Japanese culture so the information in this could be wrong. This post is just my interpretation on what his name means so i am not a hundred percent correct. Feel free to add if i missed anything or correct.

X: Kirito's Nobody, was No 13 in the Organisation but left cuz he solo player (⌐■_■) Quinn: A Dream eater, wants to kill a certain burnt demon ( this is my newest character so I haven't fleshed it out yet)

WE JUST FINISHED KEITO’S ROUTE AND NOW WE’RE FINALLY AT DDD!!!

We finally finished Keito’s route and now we’re heading towards DDD! We’re finally at Doomsdaydreams. I enjoyed Keito’s route! We were able to speedrun through it and read the newer dialogue from his perspective. I think it was fun and I’m happy that Keito was able to find himself a good future, where he can continue living on as an adult. There’s just so much stuff in Keito’s route that will make your head explode! Especially at the end!! Please do read it yourself~ you will enjoy it~

I wonder how it’ll work for that part! But basically we can chose either between Natsume or Yumehisa to look into.

My friend has been waiting so long for Natsume content and lore that he has no patience to leave him last lol. I look forward to seeing Natsume’s route and learning more about him and his lore!

It’s late now and I have to sleep! It’s 3 am as I post this! Well goodnight…I’ll continue updating on here!
